PlayStation promises free gift for PSN outage but fans still arent happy

PlayStation users will get an additional few days of PlayStation Plus as an apology from Sony for yesterday's mass PSN outage, but for some it's not enough here's all we knowTech09:24, 09 Feb 2025The PSN is still down for many people(Image: SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images)The PlayStation outage ordeal is over, with Sony's network down for around 24 hours before Sony announced things have been fixed.In case you missed it, the service went offline on Friday night, leaving PS5 and PS4 players unable to enjoy their games, while a scheduled post on X (formerly Twitter) rubbed gamers the wrong way, too.While the service is back again, Sony has indicated it'll be handing out an additional gift to all PlayStation Plus subscribers, but many are saying it doesn't go far enough.Content cannot be displayed without consentPosting on X, the Ask PlayStation account said "Network services have fully recovered from an operational issue. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank the community for their patience.""All PlayStation Plus members will automatically receive an additional 5 days of service," it continues, but for some that's not enough."Wow 5 whole days" one user commented, while another asked for the company to explain what happened and how Sony will avoid it happening in the future."Should give out a game or something; thats nothing," another said.Some had hoped Sony would offer a larger compensation patch as it did in 2011, but the circumstances aren't really the same.
