Architects, designers and artists are invited to draw up concepts for a trail of public realm interventions that enhance wayfinding and the visibility of viewing galleries within the Eastern City including The Garden at 120, Horizon 22, The Lookout, and Sky Garden.The City Views competition backed by Eastern City BID and the City of London aims to boost access and connectivity within the area and promote inclusive public seating while also responding to this years LFA theme of Voices encouraging creative responses that reflect diverse perspectives.The winning team, to be announced in March, will receive a 87,000 + VAT budget including a 10,000 design fee to develop and deliver the project in time for LFA in June.AdvertisementRosa Rogina, LFA director said: 'Architecture is not only about creation; its about listening and amplifying the voices that shape our cities. A scheme by Re-Fabricate and The DisOrdinary Architecture Project won an LFA for a series of co-designed public realm installations in Smithfield and east London one year ago.Major developments within the Square Mile include the City of London Corporations Culture Mile initiative, intended to transform the north-west corner of the Square Mile between Moorgate and Farringdon into a cultural hub over the next 10 to 15 years.The district will include three major building projects: the transformation of Beech Street; the new Museum of London designed by Stanton Williams and Asif Khan; and a competition-winning renewal of the Barbican Centre by Allies and Morrison and Asif Khan Studio.Other planned developments include Studio Egret West and HawkinsBrown competition-winning regeneration of the Grade II*-listed Smithfield market and Architecture00 + Studio Weave won contest-winning Finsbury Circus Gardens and Pavilion.Bids to deliver the City Views project will be evaluated 30 per cent on team profile, 30 per cent on initial vision, 20 per cent on feasibility and 20 per cent on sustainability.
