While we have been seeing a bit of a resurgence in popularity for the classic skateboarding series Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater with the upcoming release of 3 + 4, the skateboarder lending his name to the franchise has said that he would also like a remaster of Tony Hawk’s Underground happen at some point. In an interview with ScreenRant, Tony Hawk spoke about how he was trying his best to get the story-based skateboarding game remastered. “I always have aspirations,” Hawk said. “It’s not up to me generally. I’ll campaign all I can, but I’m working with a much bigger company that’s a lot smarter than me.” It is worth noting, however, that Hawk also said that discussions about remastering Tony Hawk’s Underground haven’t actually happened at Activision yet. The company is likely waiting to see the commercial response to Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 before it makes any decisions about bringing back later games in the franchise. When later asked about whether discussions had begun yet, Hawk also noted that it was too early right now, since Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 hadn’t been released yet. “Yeah, we haven’t even released this game,” he said. Tony Hawk’s Underground was the follow-up to Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4. Released all the way back in 2003, the game was originally released on PS2, GameCube and Xbox back in the day. There was also a version made for the Game Boy Advance. Rather than staying with the franchise’s more arcade-styled loop, Tony Hawk’s Underground instead focused on telling a story with the player’s own custom-created skateboarder. Throughout the story in Tony Hawk’s Underground, players would get to meet and skate with a variety of skateboarding legends as they travelled all over the world to take part in skateboarding competitions. Borrowing some aspects from THPS 4, Underground also featured a more open approach to its objectives, with the player needing to complete a variety of missions from NPCs in the zone they were in before they could continue with the next chapter of the story. As for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, Activision recently confirmed that Bam Margera would be part of the game’s roster as one of its Secret Skaters. The announcement was made with a trailer, where Margera spoke about first playing Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 and getting so enthralled with it that he ended up missing several flights. A rumour from back in March indicated that Margera was added to the roster of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 on the insistence of Tony Hawk himself. According to The Live Club podcast co-host Roger Bagley, Hawk insisted to Activision that Margera be included in the roster, which reportedly ended up with Margera having to fly to the studio to get body-scanned for the game. Check out the release trailer below, which compares various improvements in the remaster to the original. Developed on Unreal Engine 5, the remaster includes enhanced environments with more details and objects, a full lighting overhaul, reflection improvements and 4K textures. Upscalers like Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR are also supported alongside Temporal Super Resolution. You can also leverage the new Photo Mode for screenshots. Of course, those who own the original on previous-gen consoles and PC can upgrade to the remaster for free. As for the future, The Sinking City 2 is in development, and Frogwares has plans for the franchise. In a press release, publishing director Sergiy Oganesyan said, “We plan to do big things with The Sinking City, starting with the sequel and then beyond. “So, after our rather well-known struggles with the original, it feels amazing to have this positive moment be part of the game’s twisted history and for us to be the ones to fully decide it. Making it free to all our existing fans is our way of giving back to them for having supported us all this time through thick and thin.” The Sinking City was first launched in 2019 and focuses on private investigator Charles W. A former Rockstar veteran has responded to recent rumors that a GTA 4 re-release on the latest generation of consoles could be in the works to say the game should be remastered.The GTA 4 rumor began life with a post from Tez2, who is known within the GTA community for leaking Rockstar information. Tez2 suggested a GTA 4 port for modern systems may be released this year, and its existence was part of the reason Rockstar recently had a GTA 5 Liberty City Mod shut down.However, it’s worth stressing that Rockstar has made no indication it plans to re-release GTA 4, and in truth such a game would come as a huge surprise, given the studio's ongoing focus on GTA 6.Every Celebrity in GTA 4Obbe Vermeij, former Rockstar Games technical director who worked at the company from 1995 to 2009, was asked about the GTA 4 rumors on social media. While he hadn’t heard about them, he did say GTA 4, which he worked on, “should be remastered.”“It's a great game and there have been a number of successful remasters recently,” he added, perhaps referring to the hugely popular The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.“I would like to see it updated,” Vermeij continued in another social media post. “Niko is still the best protagonist in any GTA game I think.”As for how this potential remaster might work, Vermeij suggested Rockstar would perhaps port GTA 4 to the latest version of the Rage engine, which it uses to build its games.PlayAgain, it’s worth pointing out that Rockstar has provided fans with no indication it plans to remaster GTA 4. Horizon Zero Dawn 3 scheduled for 2027 as a cross-gen PS6 game claims rumour GameCentral Published May 13, 2025 1:01pm Updated May 13, 2025 1:01pm Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered – Aloy will return (Sony Interactive Entertainment) Sony is planning to launch the PS6 with a new Horizon game, as the latest rumours suggest that a Horizon Online spin-off is still on the way. Back in 2022, when Horizon Forbidden West was released on PlayStation 4 and 5, everything seemed to be going perfectly normally for Sony. The PlayStation 5 was selling well, they had lots of new first party games released or announced, and everything appeared primed to continue much in the way the previous generation had. But that was before Sony became obsessed with live service games and suddenly realised, seemingly overnight, that video games were becoming too expensive to make in the normal fashion. Fast forward three years and their first party output has slowed to a crawl and the only new Horizon game to be released has been Lego Horizon Adventures – which was, not unsurprisingly, a flop. Technically, developer Guerrilla Games has already confirmed Horizon 3 will happen, although only in the vaguest sense of stating, in 2023, that they’re currently working on ‘Aloy’s next adventure’. Now a rumour suggests that the third mainline entry is well underway and due for release in the next two years. According to TCMFGames, via Insider Gaming, the game’s story will focus on the enemy AI Nemesis (which was teased in the second game, so not much of a revelation) and is ‘potentially’ a cross-gen title for both PlayStation 5 and 6. Anyone could guess that but whether this particular source has inside knowledge or not it does seem very likely that this is what Sony is aiming for, considering they have not said a word about the series in years. If the date is accurate then it could well be that the game is being positioned as a launch title for the PlayStation 6, which would make perfect sense given the franchise’s popularity and reputation for cutting edge visuals. Being cross-gen is also not a surprise, especially as the leap in graphical power is likely to be fairly minimal for the next generation, making it relatively easy to continue support for the PlayStation 5. As for the rumoured multiplayer game, it’s never been officially announced but it’s been leaked multiple times already and Guerilla Games has been posting job ads for people to work on an unspecified multiplayer title – so there seems little doubt that it did exist at some point. More Trending There was some question as to whether it was cancelled during Sony’s recent purge of live service titles, but recent indicators are that it was not. Rumours suggest that it’s relatively similar to Monster Hunter, which would make sense given all of Horizon’s robot animals, and isn’t to be confused with talk of an MMO and mobile game. The former was once underway at NCsoft and is believed to be cancelled, the fate of the mobile title is unknown. If Horizon Online, as fans have dubbed it, is going to be out before 2027 you would expect Sony to start talking about it relatively soon, perhaps at its not-E3 summer showcase.
