• Blender 4.4 Is Launching Today: New Features & Improvements
    cgshares.com
Blender 4.4, the much-anticipated major update to the popular jack-of-all-trades 3D software, currently in its Release Candidate stage, is finally launching later today, promising a wealth of new features and improvements across its animation, modeling, sculpting, rendering, Geometry Nodes, and other toolsets. As the release approaches, lets dive into some of the most notable enhancements coming to the beloved application.Arguably one of the most significant changes in Blender 4.4 is the revamped structure of Actions with the introduction of Slots, a new concept that, according to Blender, allows for storing the animation of multiple elements within the same Action. The developers explain that all Actions are now slotted, and Actions from older blend files are automatically upgraded to slotted Actions. When creating an Action by keying, Blender will attempt to share Actions between related data-blocks. Similarly, when assigning an Action to a data-block, Blender will try to auto-assign an appropriate Action Slot. However, there are instances where a slot is not automatically assigned, which means the Action wont animate the data-block.Some of the example uses of slotted Actions include:Mesh objects: location in the scene (object), together with shape key values (belongs to the object data), and the locations of hook empties (different objects).Camera objects: transform (object) and lens parameters (object data).Meta-ball transforms, where all objects in a group of meta-balls can share the same Action.Materials, which effectively consist of two data-blocks (the Material itself, and its shader node tree).Action Slots new icon:Other animation and rigging updates include the enhanced Pose Library, which now provides a smoother workflow when working with Pose Assets. Bone collection membership is now mirrored when symmetrizing an armature. Relationship Lines for constraints (between the constrained object/bone and the constraint target) are no longer drawn when there is no target. Additionally, the algorithm for generating the values of the F-Curve Noise Modifier has been updated. When it comes to modeling workflows, the 4.4 update adds a new Select by Trait option to select all 3-poles, 5-poles, and so on. It also improves Vertex and Edge dissolve, and now, when joining triangles to quads, the process can prioritize quad-dominant topology, so joining triangles favors creating quads that form a grid, whichcan be controlled via a topology influence factor. The upcoming release also introduces a new brush type, the Plane brush, which the developers describe as a generalization of the existing Flatten, Fill, and Scrape brush types with new options to control stabilization and range of influence above and below the brush plane. Additionally, Cloth brushes now have the Persistent option disabled by default, while Grab Random Cloth and Grab Cloth now use the Local Simulation Area by default.Blenders Compositor has also received considerable attention in the 4.4 update, now featuring support for integer sockets, a much more accurate Fast Gaussian mode in the Blur node, and a completely overhauled Glare node to offer a better user experience and more flexible control. The highlight, however, is the rewritten CPU compositor, which brings significant performance improvements in certain node configurations, better caching of static resources like images, and reduced memory usage in node setups with many pixel nodes, making the compositor generally faster.Other updates include:CyclesSupport for GeForce RTX 500 series.Support for AMD RX 900 series (RDNA4).HIP RT is no longer experimental and will be enabled by default in the next release. The HIP RT library was upgraded to version 2.5, and many bugs were fixed.Improved image texture sampling performance.Smaller Blender package size by compressing kernels.More robust host memory fallback when the GPU runs out of memory. The NVIDIA OptiX denoiser was updated to improve denoising quality. With recent drivers, the improved denoiser is automatically used in older Blender versions. Denoising quality improvements include more consistent denoising, more accurate colors, better retention of detail, and less denoising blotching.Old vs new denoiser:1 of 2EEVEE & ViewportObjects origins now always draw on top of edit mode overlays.Display in Xray mode now fade in-front overlays correctly. The Wire Color option under the Viewport Shading popover is now honored by all wire objects in both Solid and Wireframe shading mode.Wireframes are now displayed in Edit Mode even when Overlays are off.The Vulkan experimental backend received a big update in performance, stability, and compatibility. The backend is still considered experimental due to missing features like OpenXR, OpenSubdiv, Hydra viewport, and animation performanceGeometry NodesThe Limit Surface option from the modifier is available in the Subdivision Surface node. The Normal input node now outputs proper face corner normals instead of just face normals. For existing files, the old behavior is turned on automatically with a boolean property in the sidebar.Collection and Object input nodes have been added. The Find in String node has been added. The Join Geometry and Realize Instances nodes now preserve the vertex group status of input attributes. The text overlay in the 3D view works for matrix attributes now.The Warning node now has a dynamic label depending on the selected type.Grease PencilAdded Stroke placements and auto-masking options back.Reduced the size of the line primitive gizmo.Restored operators that were missing in Blender 4.3.Added back the Fixed, Sample, and Merge modes from the Simplify operator, the Set Start Point operator, the Lasso/Box erase operators, and the Paste by Layer option from Blender 4.2 LTS.Added conversion from Curve to Grease Pencil and from Mesh to Grease Pencil.Invisible layers are now removed from evaluated data.USD & AlembicAnimated Volumes created procedurally in Geometry Nodes, or through the usage of other volume modifiers, are now supported during export.Material displacement support has been added for the UsdPreviewSurface during both import and export.Point instancers with time-varying (animated) attributes are now supported during import. The experimental Instancing option has gained support for object hierarchies and geometry types other than meshes (e.g., curves, point clouds, etc.).Added a Merge parent Xform option: Control if USD prims merge with their Xform parent during Import in order to better preserve scenario-specific hierarchy requirements.Added an Apply Unit Conversion Scale option: Scale the scene objects by the USD stages meters per unit value.Added a Merge parent Xform option.Added Units and Meters Per Unit options: Set the USD Stage meters per unit to the chosen measurement, or a custom value. The processing of edge and vertex crease values has been changed to respect the range of values expected by OpenSubdiv. For subdivision surface assets using creases produced in prior versions, a backward-compatible transform will be applied when loading into Blender 4.4.And more!Click here to check out the full list of Blender 4.4s improvements. • Elden Ring Nightreign's Ironeye Lets a Niche Weapon Shine
    gamerant.com
While a major contributor to the popularity of Soulsborne games is the challenge they pose, even to veteran players, perhaps even more so is their approach to build diversity and playstyle experimentation. Thanks to this emphasis, every Soulsborne game has an ever-changing meta that evolves with the community as they experiment with different builds, many of which work better in certain situations than in others. This ensures almost every weapon and armor piece in a Soulsborne game gets used at some point. That being said, not all weapons and armor are created equal, and Elden Ring Nightreign looks poised to give one rather niche weapon its heyday.

  • AI Factories, Built Smarter: New Omniverse Blueprint Advances AI Factory Design and Simulation
    blogs.nvidia.com
AI is now mainstream and driving unprecedented demand for AI factories purpose-built infrastructure dedicated to AI training and inference and the production of intelligence. Many of these AI factories will be gigawatt-scale. Bringing up a single gigawatt AI factory is an extraordinary act of engineering and logistics requiring tens of thousands of workers across suppliers, architects, contractors and engineers to build, ship and assemble nearly 5 billion components and over 210,000 miles of fiber cable. To help design and optimize these AI factories, NVIDIA today unveiled at GTC the NVIDIA Omniverse Blueprint for AI factory design and operations.During his GTC keynote, NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang showcased how NVIDIAs data center engineering team developed an application on the Omniverse Blueprint to plan, optimize and simulate a 1 gigawatt AI factory. Connected to leading simulation tools such as Cadence Reality Digital Twin Platform and ETAP, the engineering teams can test and optimize power, cooling and networking long before construction starts.Engineering AI Factories: A Simulation-First ApproachThe NVIDIA Omniverse Blueprint for AI factory design and operations uses OpenUSD libraries that enable developers to aggregate 3D data from disparate sources such as the building itself, NVIDIA accelerated computing systems and power or cooling units from providers such as Schneider Electric and Vertiv.By unifying the design and simulation of billions of components, the blueprint helps engineers address complex challenges like:Component integration and space optimization Unifying the design and simulation of NVIDIA DGX SuperPODs, GB300 NVL72 systems and their 5 billion components.Cooling system performance and efficiency Using Cadence Reality Digital Twin Platform, accelerated by NVIDIA CUDA and Omniverse libraries, to simulate and evaluate hybrid air- and liquid-cooling solutions from Vertiv and Schneider Electric.Power distribution and reliability Designing scalable, redundant electrical systems with ETAP to simulate power-block efficiency and reliability.Networking topology and logic Fine-tuning high-bandwidth infrastructure with NVIDIA Spectrum-X networking and the NVIDIA Air platform.Breaking Down Engineering Silos With OmniverseOne of the biggest challenges in AI factory construction is that different teams power, cooling and networking operate in silos, leading to inefficiencies and potential failures.Using the blueprint, engineers can now:Collaborate in full context Multiple disciplines can iterate in parallel, sharing live simulations that reveal how changes in one domain affect another.Optimize energy usage Real-time simulation updates enable teams to find the most efficient designs for AI workloads.Eliminate failure points By validating redundancy configurations before deployment, organizations reduce the risk of costly downtime.Model real-world conditions Predict and test how different AI workloads will impact cooling, power stability and network congestion.By integrating real-time simulation across disciplines, the blueprint allows engineering teams to explore various configurations to model cost of ownership and optimize power utilization.Real-Time Simulations for Faster Decision-MakingIn Huangs demo, engineers adjust AI factory configurations in real time and instantly see the impact. For example, a small tweak in cooling layout significantly improved efficiency a detail that could have been missed on paper. And instead of waiting hours for simulation results, teams could test and refine strategies in just seconds.Once an optimal design was finalized, Omniverse streamlined communication with suppliers and construction teams ensuring that what gets built matches the model, down to the last detail.Future-Proofing AI FactoriesAI workloads arent static. The next wave of AI applications will push power, cooling and networking demands even further. The Omniverse Blueprint for AI factory design and operations helps ensure AI factories are ready by offering:Workload-aware simulation Predict how changes in AI workloads will affect power and cooling at data center scale.Failure scenario testing Model grid failures, cooling leaks and power spikes to ensure resilience.Scalable upgrades Plan for AI factory expansions and estimate infrastructure needs years ahead. And when planning for retrofits and upgrades, users can easily test and simulate cost and downtime delivering a future-proof AI factory. For AI factory operators, staying ahead isnt just about efficiency its about preventing infrastructure failures that could cost millions of dollars per day.For a 1 gigawatt AI factory, every day of downtime can cost over $100 million. By solving infrastructure challenges in advance, the blueprint reduces both risk and time to deployment.Road to Agentic AI for AI Factory OperationNVIDIA is working on the next evolution of the blueprint to expand into AI-enabled operations, working with key companies such as Vertech and Phaidra.Vertech is collaborating with the NVIDIA data center engineering team on NVIDIAs advanced AI factory control system, which integrates IT and operational technology data to enhance resiliency and operational visibility.Phaidra is working with NVIDIA to integrate reinforcement-learning AI agents into Omniverse. These agents optimize thermal stability and energy efficiency through real-time scenario simulation, creating digital twins that continuously adapt to changing hardware and environmental conditions. The AI Data Center BoomAI is reshaping the global data center landscape. With $1 trillion projected for AI-driven data center upgrades, digital twin technology is no longer optional its essential. The NVIDIA Omniverse Blueprint for AI factory design and operations is poised to help NVIDIA and its ecosystem of partners lead this transformation letting AI factory operators stay ahead of ever-evolving AI workloads, minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.Learn more about NVIDIA Omniverse, watch the GTC keynote, register for Cadences GTC session to see the Omniverse Blueprint in action and read more about AI factories.See notice regarding software product information.

  • Best Master League teams to use in Pokmon Go
    www.polygon.com
The Master League in Pokmon Gos Go Battle League features the best of the best, thanks to its lack of CP cap meaning titans of the Pokdex lock heads in heated battles, and only the very best trainers stand to reach the top of the rankings.Whether youre looking to introduce your Pokmon to battling for the first time, or simply want some tips for the current Master League meta, were breaking down the top threats in the Master League and which Pokmon to add to your team with this full guide.Update (March 18): Updated our best team suggestions for the Might and Mastery season. What is the Master League meta right now?For seasoned Pokmon Go players, the dizzy heights of the Master League are a great place to show off the biggest and best Pocket Monsters in their collection. This bracket is dominated by Legendary Pokmon, or other beasts with similarly whopping stats. However, this huge power ceiling means that unlike the Great League or Ultra League, the Master League is much harder to disrupt. Most new Pokmon added barely tickle the bottom of the Master League rankings, but once in a while, something comes along that truly changes the hierarchy of power. Thanks to last seasons additions, players absolutely have to be on the lookout for Black Kyurem and White Kyurem in the Might and Mastery season. The Go Tour Unova event finally added these long teased titans, and unsurprisingly, most teams in Master League now either include one of them, or plan to beat both of them. That doesnt mean that Master League is immune to smaller changes, however, as the adjustments to moves still find ways to help or hinder the dozens of viable entries in this upper echelon of PvP.Niantic have decreased the energy cost for Psyshock, while maintaining its existing damage, making this a viable move for mainstays like Meloetta, and perhaps even Mew. Meanwhile, while Dazzling Gleam has had a drop in damage output, it also has had its energy cost decreased, allowing users to apply pressure and spam Charged Moves quicker.Overall, Master League hasnt shifted too much since last season, but the inclusion of the Kyurem Fusions has shifted the balance somewhat, as players figure out viable counters to these Unovan units. Now, all eyes are on the eventual inclusion of Urshifu to see if it is as much of a menace as it is in the Pokmon Scarlet & Violet VGC. Plus, we know Go Fest 2025 is adding the Crowned Sword and Crowned Shield versions of Zacian and Zamazenta, respectively. These already deadly dogs are about to have their day.But until then, these are the best picks for Pokmon Go Master League teams.Master League best team suggestionsAssuming sourcing Legendaries is no problem, we have two best teams for the Master League meta:Black Kyurem, Tapu Lele, and Landorus (Therian)Palkia (Origin), Solgaleo, and Ho-OhLets go through them separately.Black Kyurem, Tapu Lele, and Landorus (Therian)Can you feel a chill in the air? It just might be the awesome power of Black Kyurem, one of the two new fusions currently set to rock the Master League this season. As dual dragon- and ice-type, sadly it does have more weaknesses than resistances, but its expanded movepool helps to balance things out.First of all, the frankly ridiculous Attack stat of Black Kyurem alongside the Fast Move Shadow Claw mean that this cold creature is now the number one threat for Dusk Mane Necrozma. Thanks to this, Dusk Mane Necrozma has fallen considerably from grace, now outranked in competitive viability by the (relatively) humble Solgaleo. On top of this, Black Kyurem now has access to the signature ice-type move Freeze Shock, which even doubles as a brand new Adventure Effect that freezes Pokmon in their tracks, making them easier to catch. The whopping power of STAB Freeze Shock is a huge problem for Zygarde and Yvetal. Then, rounding out the package with the electric-type move Fusion Bolt helps to take down the occasional Ho-Oh.Next up, Tapu Lele is one of many Pokmon grateful for the improvements to the move Psyshock, as it can now apply more pressure. Being psychic- and fairy-type gives it great offensive range, with the ghost-type move Astonish being your go to Fast Move to nudge that range even further.Fairy-type is always a great offensive choice, and the signature move Natures Madness as well as the STAB bonus make Tapu Lele a big problem for Master League mainstays like Palkia, Dialga, and Zygarde. Which means this is also a fantastic team mate for Black Kyurem. Finally, round out this package is Landorus (Therian), which helps pick off some of the other possible opponents like Rhyperior, Xerneas, and Dusk Mane Necrozma. Here you want to run the Fast Move Mud Shot, which you can spam for quick charge. Then, back this up with STAB-boosted Sandsear Storm, and round out the package with the rock-type move Stone Edge which is a death sentence for Ho-Oh.This teams best moves, IVs, and alternative suggestionsPokmonTypeFast MoveCharged MovesIVsKyrurem (Black)Dragon/IceShadow ClawFreeze Shock/Fusion Bolt15/15/15Tapu LelePsychic/FairyAstonishPsyshock/Natures Madness15/15/15Landorus (Therian)Ground/FlyingMud ShotSandsear Storm/Stone Edge15/15/15Kyurem (Black) alternatives: Palkia (Origin), Kyurem, and BaxcaliburTapu Lele alternatives: Meloetta (Aria), Solgaleo, and Gardevoir (Shadow)Landorus (Therian) alternatives: Rhyperior, Groudon, and Swampert (Shadow)Palkia (Origin), Solgaleo, and Ho-OhWhile a lot of things have shifted in Master League, Palkia (Origin) is still possibly the best Pokmon in the game. It balances a truly fearsome Attack stat with admirable Defence and some pretty good defensive typing. The Fast Move Dragon Breath quickly puts pressure on huge threats like Zygarde (Complete Form) which is one of Palkias main competitors. Then, back this up with the STAB-boosted power of Aqua Tail to mop up opponents like Ho-Oh and Rhyperior. While having the Charged Move Spacial Rend doesnt offer the best type coverage, it is still likely the best option for that final slot because it hits like a sledgehammer. Overall, Palkia (Origin) is still the champ of hitting hard, and hitting fast, so either get one or learn how to beat one.Next up is Solgaleo, who is a reaction to a reaction. With the Kyurem fusions joining the Origin forms of Dialga and Palkia at the top of the Pokmon pops, fairy-type counters have become invaluable. Thankfully, Solgaleo is a fairy-type Pokmons worst nightmare.Being dual psychic- and steel-type gives Solgaleo a huge ten different resistances, which means it is fantastic for your second pick as it can potentially switch in and wall most Pokmon. Plus with well-rounded defensive stats, Solgaleo has a very good chance of staying in the game. The Fast Move Fire Spin means trouble for Dialga (Origin), and then the Charged Move Psychic Fands is just a great use of STAB and offensive power. Finally, Iron Head is your fairy-bashing bonus, allowing Solgaleo to quickly dispatch of massive threats like Zacian, Enamorus, and Xerneas.Rounding out this package is the stalwart threat Ho-Oh, whom you can run in either its regular or Shadow form depending on your preference. Naturally, pick Shadow to focus on offense, or keep the normal form to keep some of those stats in Defence.Similar to Solgaleo, Ho-Oh has a bunch of resistances, and great bulk to back it all up. Use Fast Move Incinerate to quickly deal damage to Pokmon like Tapu Bulu, and similarly the Charged Move Sacred Fire is a fantastic signature move that is Ho-Ohs greatest tool.Filling up the move slots is Brave Bird, another smart use of STAB and helps to reach some other threats like Marshadow, Zamazenta, and Annihilape. With Pokmon Go hosting a Shadow Ho-Oh Raid Day in early 2025, with any luck you have a powerful one already waiting in the wings. This teams best moves, IVs, and alternative suggestions:PokmonTypeFast MoveCharged MovesIVsHo-OhFire/FlyingIncinerateBrave Bird/Sacred Fire15/15/15SolgaleoPsychic/SteelFire SpinPsychic Fangs/Iron Head15/15/15Palkia (Origin Forme)Water/DragonDragon BreathAqua Tail/Spacial Rend15/15/15Palkia (Origin) alternatives: Palkia (Shadow), Gyarados (Shadow), and GoodraSolgaleo alternatives: Heatran, Metagross, and Dialga (Origin)Ho-Oh alternatives: Skeledirge, Talonflame, Moltres (Shadow)Non-Legendary best Master League teamNot everyone wants to spend money on Pokmon Go raids. Or, you just may have missed some of the most important raids or Special research tasks over the years. So, if you want to jump into competitive but dont quite have the elusive Legendary you need, heres a team of Pokmon where most players can catch em all:Florges, Rhyperior, Shadow GyaradosThe humble Flabebe may not look like much, but its evolution Florges has been making huge waves in the competitive scene thanks to STAB Fairy-type moves and access to lots of Grass moves as well. Charged move Moonblast, meanwhile, is a huge problem for Pokmon like Zygarde, Yvetal, and Palkia. You might be surprised at Florges bulk as well, which make it a great alternative to Xerneas if you dont have access to the Legendary stag. It does not match up well against Dusk mane Necrozma, or Ho-Oh, but its still likely the best Fairy-type Attacker in the game. What can be said about Rhyperior, the little rhino that could. It has consistently made a space for itself in the top of the competitive scene, youll just need a lot of XL Candy to get it to the CP cap needed. High attack, great type-coverage, and the powerful move Rock Wrecker make this a real threat. Though, if you dont already have it, Rock Wrecker will require an Elite TM.The reason Rhyperior is seen so much in Go Battle League is partly because its easy to build, but also because Ground-type is one of the best offensive types. Meanwhile, the STAB power of Rock Wrecker can wipe out an Yvetal before its had a chance. Of course, it has a huge weakness to Water-type moves, which is why you generally always need either a Water-type Pokmon or at least a Grass-type. Rhyperior is always waiting in the wings.Yes, Gyarados is here mostly because of Rhyperior. However, Shadow Gyarados has access to Dragon Breath, Aqua Tail, and Crunch. Dragon Breath is great for threats like Dialga. Crunch can hit Psychic-type Pokmon like Dusk Mane Necrozma, and of course Aqua Tail uses that powerful STAB damage to wipe out Rhyperior, Zygarde, and Landorus. The reason for Shadow over the regular here is because of the additional Attack power, which will really push moves like Aqua Tail over the edge. If you dont have a Shadow Magikarp or Gyarados, you can run the regular Gyarados or some other picks for your third slot could easily be Primarina, Feraligatr, or even Swampert. This teams best moves, IVs, and alternative suggestions:PokmonTypeFast MoveCharged MovesIVsFlorgesFairyFairy WindDisarming Voice/Moonblast15/15/15RhyperiorGround/RockMudslapBreaking Swipe/Rock Wrecker15/15/15GyaradosWater/FlyingDragon BreathAqua Tail/Crunch15/15/15In summary Master League can be really fun if you have the Pokmon, but to make competitively viable, you will have to invest a lot of Candy XL, or Rare Candy XL. Almost every Pokmon ideally needs to be at their CP limit, so on top of using Candy XL, its beneficial to be as high a Trainer Level as possible and to make your biggest threat (say Zygarde) a Best Buddy and your current Buddy for the CP boost. On top of that, while other leagues are more forgiving with IVs, such as Great League where its better to have 0 Attack but high Defence and HP, Master League demands the best. You are almost always aiming for a Perfect IV Pokmon (you can use the search string 4* in Pokmon Go to find your perfect IV Pokmon), or if not, then as near as possible
