• Skate Story is coming to PS5 as well as PC this year
    www.engadget.com
Skate Story has been one of my most anticipated games ever since I first clapped eyes on it all the way back in 2020, so it was great to get an update on it as part of Sony's annual PS Indie Day. It's been confirmed that the striking skateboarding adventure is coming to PS5, as well as PC. Publisher Devolver Digital plans to release it later this year.Solo developer Sam Eng describes Skate Story as "a game about a demon made of glass who needs to skate the Underworld and consume The Moon to fulfill the devils contract." To achieve that, you'll need to work your way through nine layers of hell. The only way to beat bosses is by skating fast and pulling off an array of dope tricks, which deal damage. There's a time limit on the boss battle against the Moon that's shown in the latest trailer you only have until a song ends to defeat the celestial body. There are more than 70 tricks for you to learn and improve, and you'll level up by completing skate trials. Other characters you'll encounter include a "pillowy demon who owns a laundromat" and a "jittery subway train" you can become pals with and then "experience poetry about the multilight of the Moon."As odd as that all sounds, absolutely everything I've seen and heard about Skate Story has hit the right spot for me. I especially can't get enough of those visuals.Eng promises to reveal more details about Skate Story this summer. Given that Devolver typically runs a showcase alongside Summer Game Fest, we'll probably hear more about the game in early June. In the meantime, you can get a taste of what's in store by checking out our Skate Story hands-on.This article originally appeared on Engadget at https://www.engadget.com/gaming/playstation/skate-story-is-coming-to-ps5-as-well-as-pc-this-year-163303910.html?src=rss

  • The Nest Learning Thermostat is back on sale for $240 in the Amazon Spring Sale
    www.engadget.com
Googles Nest Learning Thermostat is on sale for $240 right now, as part of the Amazon Spring Sale. Thats close to a record low price for the 4th-gen device that was released just last year. This deal is available for multiple colorways, including silver, gold and black. This is a modern thermostat, so that means AI. The device offers suggestions on how to lower energy usage and can automatically adjust settings in the home based on factors like ambient temperature and daily schedules. It ships with a wireless temperature sensor for accurate measurements. This sensor can run for three years before needing a new battery. This model can accommodate six of these sensors, for large properties, but that requires some additional purchases. A three-pack of the sensors typically costs $100. The Nest Learning Thermostat is more customizable than its predecessors, with the ability to select from several smartwatch-style faces. Its also much larger than previous models and includes Soli radar sensors to determine how close a person is. The display will adjust accordingly, with an increased font size when standing far away and vice versa. The installation is fairly simple, but will still require some light wiring. The only real bad thing to say about this thermostat is that $280 is a whole lot of money. That concern is mostly alleviated by todays sale. This article originally appeared on Engadget at https://www.engadget.com/deals/the-nest-learning-thermostat-is-back-on-sale-for-240-in-the-amazon-spring-sale-150539398.html?src=rss

  • These Social Security offices are expected to close in 2025 due to DOGE cuts
    www.fastcompany.com
Dozens of Social Security Administration offices across the country are slated to close this year due to actions taken by Elon Musks Department of Government Efficiency as part of the Trump administrations unprecedented effort to shrink the size of government.DOGE haspublished a listof nearly 800 federal real estate leases that it is seeking to cancel. The Associated Press has obtained an internal planning document from the General Services Administration, which manages federal real estate, which shows when nearly two-thirds of those cancellations are expected to go into effect. The offices are closing despite a new requirement thattighter identity-proofingmeasures be put in place to prevent fraud and abuse. These steps will require millions of recipients and applicants to visit agency field offices rather than interact with agency employees over the phone. The AP also obtained more information about each lease on DOGEs list through other publicly available datasets, including their addresses, the dates the leases had started and were originally expected to expire, and the landlords who own the properties.Of the 47 Social Security Administration offices listed for closure, only some had anticipated dates for when those lease cancellations would take effect. • Boeing CFO concerned over tariffs impact on parts
    www.fastcompany.com
Boeing Chief Financial Officer Brian West said on Wednesday the company is concerned about President Donald Trumps tariffs potentially constraining the availability of parts from its suppliers, although he said the U.S. planemaker has enough inventory for now.West, who was speaking at a Bank of America industrials conference, also said the company expected to take a one-time hit of $150 million to its first-quarter profit. The companys balance sheet has suffered from low deliveries of commercial jets and cost overruns on fixed-price contracts for its defense and space division.Boeings cash flow could improve in the first quarter by hundreds of millions of dollars, he said. The companys share price rose 6% after Wests comments.Tariffs will not likely dampen demand for the companys jetliners, he said. Boeing has an order backlog of over 5,000 planes, most of which are 737s.Deliveries of the single-aisle jet in March should match February, when it delivered 31 MAX jets plus one P-8 Poseidon for the U.S. Navy, he said.Through March 18, the company has delivered 13 737s, according to a Barclays note. The company continues to make progress stabilizing 737 and 787 Dreamliner production, both of which have been dogged by quality and supply chain problems, and remains on track to increase monthly output this year of the MAX from the mid-20s now to 38 planes and the Dreamliner from five to seven jets per month, West told investors.Deliveries of its KC-46 tanker military aircraft were recently halted by the U.S. Air Force after cracks were discovered in parts of the wings on two aircraft awaiting delivery. West said Boeing is making progress on resolving the problem, deliveries for the year should not be affected and the halt will not result in a charge against its profit.Boeing will not be significantly affected this year by a fire at a SPS Technologies plant, which makes 10% to 15% of fasteners for the aerospace industry, he said, adding that the company is assessing the impact on its suppliers. The company is trying to sort out how to prevent longer-term constraints on the fasteners supply, he added. In the past two weeks, Boeing moved into the next stage of flight testing for its 777X, which resumed in January following a five-month pause, he said. The company has said it expects to begin deliveries of the long-delayed 777-9 next year, followed by the smaller 777-8 and a freighter version later in the decade.Developing a new airplane is a ways off, West said.Boeing is shopping two subsidiaries its Jeppesen navigation unit and drone company Insitu. However, Boeings divestment strategy is focused on pruning, not restructuring the company, he said.It does not plan to sell Wisk Aero, which is developing autonomous air taxis, he said.Technology being pioneered by Wisk will be key to the future of autonomous flight and valuable to the rest of Boeings business, he added. Its small, its important, and were staying with it.Dan Catchpole and Shivansh Tiwary, Reuters

  • Sniper Elite: Resistance DLC Adds New Mission and Weapons
    gamingbolt.com
Sniper Elite: Resistancemay not be a full numbered entry in Rebellions World War 2 stealth series, but the developer has built a reputation for strong post-launch support for all of its releases, and sure enough, Resistance, too, is adding to its base offerings.Rebellion has released a new, paid DLC pack for the shooter. Dubbed the Vercors Vendetta Mission and Weapons Pack, the DLC adds a new mission that sees protagonist Harry Hawker attempting to track down and destroy a straggling cache of the nerve agent Kleine Blume.
