Paramount+ has dropped a tantalizing one-minute teaser for the upcoming third season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds., and it looks like the latest adventures of the starship Enterprise will bring romance, comedy, mystery, and even a bit of analog tech, not to mention a brand new villain.(Some spoilers for S2 below)We haven't seen much from the third season to date. There was an exclusive clip during San Diego Comic Con last summera callback to the S2 episode "Charades," in which a higher-dimensional race, the Kerkohvians, accidentally reconfigured Spock's half-human, half-Vulcan physiology to that of a full-blooded human, just before Spock was supposed to meet his Vulcan fiancee's parents. The S3 clip had the situation reversed: The human crew had to make themselves Vulcan to succeed on a new mission but weren't able to change back. The S2 finale found the Enterprise under vicious attack by the Gorn, who were in the midst of invading one of the Federation's colony worlds. Several crew members were kidnapped (La'an, M'Benga, Ortegas, and Sam), along with other survivors of the attack. Pike faced a momentous decision: follow orders to retreat, or disobey them to rescue his crew. In October, we learned that Pike naturally chose the latter. New footage shown at New York City Comic-Con picked up where the finale left off, giving us the kind of harrowing high-stakes pitched space battle against a ferocious enemy that has long been a hallmark of the franchise. In addition to the returning main and recurring cast members, Cillian O'Sullivan joins the recurring cast as Dr. Roger Korby, a legacy character (originally played by Michael Strong). Korby was a renowned archaeologist in the field of medical archaeology, introduced in the episode "What Are Little Girls Made Of?" as Nurse Chapel's long-missing fianc. That's bound to cause problems for SNW's Nurse Christine Chapel (Jess Bush), who is currently romantically involved with Spock (Ethan Peck). Rhys Darby (Our Flag Means Death) and Patton Oswalt will guest star in as-yet-undisclosed roleswe catch glimpses of both in the teaser. A throwback to classic sci-fi, with "weekly space adventures." • Male fruit flies drink more alcohol to get females to like them
    arstechnica.com
another round Male fruit flies drink more alcohol to get females to like them Alcohol makes male fruit flies sexier by stimulating the production of sex pheromones. Jennifer Ouellette Apr 2, 2025 3:50 pm | 20 Credit: Anna Schroll/CC BY-SA Credit: Anna Schroll/CC BY-SA Story textSizeSmallStandardLargeWidth *StandardWideLinksStandardOrange* Subscribers only Learn moreFruit flies (Drosophila melanogaster) are tremendously fond of fermented foodstuffs. Technically, it's the yeast they crave, produced by yummy rotting fruit, but they can consume quite a lot of ethanol as a result of that fruity diet. Yes, fruit flies have ultra-fast metabolisms, the better to burn off the booze, but they can still get falling-down drunkso much so, that randy inebriated male fruit flies have been known to court other males by mistake and fail to mate successfully. Then again, apparently adding alcohol to their food increases the production of sex pheromones in male fruit flies, according to a new paper published in the journal Science Advances. That, in turn, makes them more attractive to the females of the species."We show a direct and positive effect of alcohol consumption on the mating success of male flies," said co-author Ian Keesey of the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. "The effect is caused by the fact that alcohol, especially methanol, increases the production of sex pheromones. This in turn makes alcoholic males more attractive to females and ensures a higher mating success rate, whereas the success of drunken male humans with females is likely to be questionable."Fruit flies are the workhorses of modern genetics research, used to study everything from cancer to sleep disorders. They make excellent model systems because they share so many genes with humans, plus they are cheap, easy to breed, and can be genetically altered easily. Many years ago, I had the privilege of visiting the University of California, San Francisco laboratory of behavior geneticist Ulrike Heberlein, who spent years getting fruit flies drunk in an "Inebriometer" to learn about the various genes that influence alcohol tolerance. (Heberlein is now scientific program director and laboratory head at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute's Janelia Farm Research Campus.)Driven to drink? For instance, Heberlein co-authored a 2012 paper discussing experimental results that suggested romantic rejection (i.e., "social defeat") could drive male fruit flies to drink. She paired virgin males with females who had already mated for an hour at a time, three times a day, for four straight days. (Mated females will vehemently reject advances from other males, often aggressively so.) Then the males were placed in an alcohol-drinking assay, where they would drink more than twice as much alcohol as male fruit flies in the control group who had successfully mated. Ian Keesey of the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, studies fruit flies. Credit: Anna Schroll/CC BY-SA In terms of a mechanism, the rejection seems to decrease levels of a neuropeptide in the brain, which increases after mating, leading Heberlein et al. to conclude that drinking the ethanol activates reward centers in the fruit fly brain. The end goal is to find equivalent mechanisms in the human brain to guide future interventions into human drug and alcohol addiction and abuse. While their latest findings are generally consistent with this and other fruit fly studies, Keesey and his co-authors offer an alternative hypothesis to explain these alcohol-related behaviors in fruit flies. They concluded that fruit flies "are attracted to ethanol (and methanol) not as a means to cope with the negative psychological effects of mate rejection, but rather that flies are driven toward these alcohols to increase their chances for subsequent mating success," they wrote. In other words, rejected male fruit flies chug down alcohol as a strategy to get girls to like them. The researchers studied the behavioral responses of male fruit flies using an experimental apparatus called a Flywalk, in which 15 fruit flies in individual glass tubes lined up in parallel were exposed to odors (including ethanol and methanol) and monitored for their responses to those odors. They also employed imaging techniques to visualize what was happening in those tiny fruit fly brains. The results: In keeping with prior research, male fruit flies who had not yet mated were more drawn to alcohol. Those that consumed methanol showed a marked increase in the levels of pheromones known to be involved with the elaborate fruit fly courtship rituals. And males who had access to natural sources of methanol, like fermented oranges, were more successful in attracting females than males who did not. Of course, when it comes to alcohol, there can be too much of a good thing. Keesey et al. also found that too much methanol can kill the flies."What is unique about our results is that we found not just one, but three neural circuits that we were able to show actually balance each other in terms of this risk assessment, that is, attraction and aversion," said Keesey. "This means that the flies have a control mechanism that allows them to get all the benefits of alcohol consumption without risking alcohol intoxication. That different neural pathways with opposite valence for the same odor are combined to balance attraction and aversion based on physiological state is a rarity."So male fruit flies, essentially, know when they've reached the optimal level of inebriation to attract more females and successfully mate, before they become so intoxicated that they repulse the females, or approach other males by mistake.Science Advances, 2025. • The best new science fiction books of April 2025
    www.newscientist.com
April sees the release of a new space opera trilogy from Neal AsherAlamy Stock PhotoWhen the sun is out, its just about warm enough here in north-east London to read outside which means its time to crack out the best new science fiction and find a sheltered spot. I love the way the genre continues to tackle the biggest issues of our day, whether thats ageing or artificial intelligence. Top of my pile is Lucy Lapinskas look at how a robot might deal with being freed from human governance, but Im also looking forward to Nick Harkaways latest, set in a world where a drug can (for a huge price) stop you from ageing, but it will also make you grow very large. And Im keen to try out Sayaka Muratas strange and disturbing vision of the future, Vanishing World. Our science fiction hub is where you can read all of our round-ups, reviews and interviews with leading sci-fi authors.Vanishing World by Sayaka Murata, translated by Ginny Tapley TakemoriAn intriguing-sounding new novel from the author of the bestselling Convenience Store Woman. Amane lives in a society where children are conceived by artificial insemination and raised by parents in clean, sexless marriages. When she and her husband hear about an experimental town where residents are selected at random to be artificially inseminated en masse and children are raised collectively and anonymously, they decide to try living there.Sleeper Beach by Nick HarkawayWe loved the first Titanium Noir novel from Nick Harkaway here at New Scientist, set in a world where the megarich can take a drug that stops them from ageing, but grows them to huge titanic proportions. In this latest from Harkaway, whos fresh from continuing his father John Le Carrs legacy in Karlas Choice, he tells the story of detective and Titan Cal, who is investigating the murder of a young woman in a rundown holiday town.AdvertisementDark Diamond by Neal AsherThis is the first in a new space opera trilogy from Asher, following the story of Captain Blite, whom somebody keeps trying to kill. A mysterious black diamond, left to him by a dark AI, is keeping him alive, but each failed attempt on his life generates temporal anomalies. Blite sets out to uncover the dark diamonds true natureCity of All Seasons by Oliver Langmead and Aliya WhiteleyFor Jamie Pike, Fairharbour is a city stuck in perpetual winter. For Esther Pike, it is stuck in constant summer. In both versions, oppressive powers have taken control after a cataclysm, forcing a city that was once united to fall apart. Jamie and Esther find a way to communicate across their fractured worlds, but can they solve the mystery of what split Fairharbour?Join us in reading and discussing the best new science and science fiction booksSign up to newsletterSome Body Like Me Lucy LapinskaHighly rated by our sci-fi columnist Emily H. Wilson, this is set during humanitys final days and follows the story of Abigail, a robot built in the image of Davids late wife. The law is about to change, however, and soon Abigail will be free to go where she likes and do what she wants. There have been a number of interesting fictional takes on robot ethics and freedoms lately, and Im keen to read this robot emancipation tale.Abigail is a robot that is about to be emancipated in Lucy Lapinskas novelGetty Images/iStockphotoLove and Other Paradoxes by Catriona SilveyTime travel counts as sci-fi, for me, so I am planning to chill out with this time-travelling romance, in which student Joe is dreaming of a future where hell be a renowned writer. Meanwhile Esi (who is from the future) sets out on a time-travelling tour to witness historys greatest moments which includes Joe falling for Diana, the subject of his famous love poems. But (of course!) destiny is sent awry by Esis arrival, and she and Joe start falling for each other insteadThe Cure by Eve SmithIn this speculative thriller, an injection has been invented that delays ageing. Of course, the super-rich are spoiling things, taking an upgrade that extends human life still further. The population is skyrocketing when a dangerous side-effect of the vaccine emerges, and the planet is under threatThe Expanded Earth by Mikey PleaseThis sounds like a fun thought experiment: humanity has been reduced to the height of a handspan, making the world into a place full of peril, but also of abundance. Giles wakes in his new body on a remote coastal path and sets out on a quest to find his loved ones.Where the Axe is Buried by Ray NaylerRay Nayler is a fabulous writer I loved his previous novel, The Mountain in the Sea, and he wrote me a great comment piece for New Scientist arguing that governments should use speculative fiction to predict the future. In this terrifying-sounding latest, the president of the authoritarian Federation maintains his grip on power by downloading his mind into a succession of new bodies, while western Europe has plumped for AI-powered prime ministers rather than human governance. However, an artificial mind is malfunctioning, and disaster is looming.A Line You Have Traced by Roisin DunnettSet against the East London marshes, this story moves from 100 years in the future, when outsiders are living off-grid away from a corrupt government and a city wracked by climate change, back across three centuries, as Ess journeys into the past to save her present. The art and science of writing science fiction course: EnglandExplore the world of science fiction and learn how to craft your own captivating sci-fi tales on this immersive weekend break. • Democrats want Elon Musk to keep hitting the campaign trail

After Democrats notched a victory in Wisconsin, they say they're eager to see Elon Musk keep campaigning for Republicans. Elon Musk waded into a Wisconsin Supreme Court race and lost. Now, Democrats want Musk to keep hitting the stump.Musk has quickly become a key foil for Democrats. The Wisconsin election vindicated that approach. After handily winning a Wisconsin Supreme Court race on Tuesday, Democrats are sending a message to Elon Musk: Keep campaigning for the GOP.Ben Wikler, the chair of the Wisconsin Democratic Party, told reporters on a Wednesday press call that Musk should become President Donald Trump's "special envoy for midterm elections.""At the same time, Elon Musk should be removed as quickly as possible from any position of power over the federal government," Wikler added, referring to the billionaire businessman's role as the de facto leader of DOGE.Musk had poured millions of dollars into the race, arguing that the future of Western civilization was at stake. It was the first statewide election since Trump's 2024 victory and was seen as a barometer for the national mood. He even hit the campaign trail in person, holding a town hall event in Green Bay on Sunday night."Elon Musk's money might buy some ads, but it repels voters," Wikler said. Polling has broadly shown that Musk is less popular than Trump.Ken Martin, the chairman of the Democratic National Committee, also mentioned Musk on the call."The more Elon Musk wants to get out there, I say go for it Elon," Martin said. "There are plenty of other states we would love you to campaign in."The Wisconsin race along with closer-than-expected special election results in two deep-red House districts in Florida has emboldened Democrats when it comes to the House of Representatives, where Republicans currently hold an extremely narrow lead. In 2024, Musk spent more than $19 million supporting various Democratic candidates.Katarina Flicker, a spokeswoman for House Majority PAC, said in a statement that the Democratic-aligned group "encourages one of the most unpopular men in America to campaign with Republicans across the country.""His efforts will be crucial to Democrats taking back the House in 2026," Flicker said of Musk.A spokesman for Musk's super PAC did not immediately respond to a request for comment.Recommended video

  • Meta is preventing a whistleblower from talking to Congress, her lawyer says

Meta blocks ex-exec Sarah Wynn-Williams from speaking to Congress on China dealings, her lawyer says. The block follows an arbitration ruling enforcing a non-disparagement clause in her severance.A Senate Subcommittee is investigating Meta's China ties, seeking records and details based on Wynn-Williams' memoir.Meta has blocked former Facebook executive Sarah Wynn-Williams from communicating with members of Congress who are investigating the company's dealings with the Chinese Communist Party, her lawyer said.Ravi Naik, the legal counsel for Wynn-Williams, told Business Insider that his client is barred from speaking to lawmakers because of an emergency arbitration ruling Meta obtained last month. The ruling enforces a non-disparagement clause in Wynn-Williams' severance agreement. It comes just as a bipartisan Senate investigation cites her memoir, Careless People, as the catalyst for a probe into Meta's dealings in China."Congress has made it clear they expect to be able to communicate with Ms. Wynn-Williams, and my client wishes to do so," Naik said in a statement. "Meta has, however, silenced Ms. Wynn-Williams through an arbitration process, which means that she is prohibited from communicating with Congress. Ms. Wynn-Williams believes that people deserve to know the truth.""We're not intending to stand in the way of her exercising her rights," a Meta spokesperson told BI.They added that the company did not operate its services in China. "It is no secret we were once interested in doing so as part of Facebook's effort to connect the world," they said. "This was widely reported beginning a decade ago. We ultimately opted not to go through with the ideas we'd explored, which Mark Zuckerberg announced in 2019."The Senate's Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, chaired by Republican Sen. Ron Johnson and joined by Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Republican Sen. John Hawley, opened the probe into Meta's dealings with China on April 1.The committee's letter sent to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Tuesday outlines a sweeping request for records dating back to 2014. Lawmakers are seeking all Meta communications with Chinese government officials, including the Cyberspace Administration of China, and records on Meta's subsidiaries and partners in the country, among other details. They also want information about whether Llama, Meta's AI model, was used by the People's Liberation Army or Chinese tech firms. The request also includes all documents related to "Project Aldrin," which Wynn-Williams' book claims, was Meta's three-year plan to break into China, as well as any internal deliberations about censoring content at the request of national governments.Through her attorney Wynn-Williams, who worked at Facebook from 2011 to 2017, has said she wants to cooperate. But an emergency arbitration order Meta secured last month enforces a non-disparagement clause from her severance agreement and prohibits her from talking to Congress. The ruling, issued just one day after Careless People was published, also bars her from promoting the book or publicly criticizing the company.Wynn-Williams' spokesperson said she sought to lift the gag order, but the arbitrator explicitly denied her request. The ruling warned that allowing her to speak to lawmakers could result in them publicly repeating statements she is barred from making. Allowing Wynn-Williams to talk to legislators would create "an exception that would eat the rule" and could enable public officials to amplify any disparaging statements, the arbitrator said."This ruling implies that the gag order on Ms. Wynn-Williams takes precedence over elected officials' right to know information pertaining to national security," her spokesperson said.Meta has dismissed Wynn-Williams' allegations as false and characterized her as a disgruntled former employee. A spokesperson previously told BI that her claims were "a mix of out-of-date and previously reported claims about the company and false accusations about our executives."Wynn-Williams, who worked at Facebook from 2011 to 2017, has filed a whistleblower complaint with the SEC. Neither the arbitrator's ruling nor Meta's arguments in arbitration dispute the factual content of her memoir, her spokesperson says.Have a tip? Contact this reporter via email at or Signal at . Earlier today, the Daily Star revealed all the details about the newly-launched console. We've know some info about the console since Nintendo's January reveal, and subsequent leaks pointed to a backward compatibility boost, an AI boost for visuals, the return of Amiibo, and those mice-like Joy-Con.Article continues belowHowever today's huge Nintendo Direct revealed everything else we need to know about the future of the console and what hardware it contains . . . and the price. If you want it, you'll need to provide a lot of evidence(Image: PA)It'll set gamers back 395 for the console without a game, or 429 for it with Mario Kart. Pre-orders start from April 8. We also finally found out the much-talked-about launch date, of June 5 which will be music to the ears of gamers everywhere. But it would also be music to the ears of scalpers or maybe not.As of earlier today, anyone interested in buying a console will have to register their interest on Nintendo's site. • New Donkey Kong game is real and out this year for Nintendo Switch 2

New Donkey Kong game is real and out this year for Nintendo Switch 2Michael BeckwithPublished April 2, 2025 4:15pmUpdated April 2, 2025 4:16pmTo view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a webbrowser thatsupports HTML5videoUp NextIts been a long time coming, but Donkey Kong gets to be the star of a new 3D platformer thatll serve as one of the Nintendo Switch 2s first exclusives. There had been chatter of a new Donkey Kong game being in the works for years, but only now has Nintendo finally acknowledged its existence and, as some had expected, its coming to Nintendo Switch 2.Titled Donkey Kong Bananza, it was unveiled during todays Nintendo Direct and it looks to be for Donkey Kong what Super Mario Odyssey was for Mario: a massively sprawling 3D platformer. The very first rumours claimed that Nintendo EPD, the studio typically responsible for the 3D Mario platformers, would be developing the new Donkey Kong game. Although not confirmed, Donkey Kong Bananza certainly has a very similar energy to Super Mario Odyssey so it wouldnt be surprising if Nintendo EPD is responsible. What is the release date for Donkey Kong Bananza?Donkey Kong Bananza is scheduled to launch on July 17, 2025. So, just one month after the launch of the Switch 2, making it one of Nintendos very first exclusives for the console after Mario Kart World.Nintendo hasnt said much else about the game, but the trailer indicates that its defining feature will be its destructible environments. DK can be seen digging underground and then punching his way out, as well as ripping out chunks of the earth to swing as a club or throw as a projectile. In a post Nintendo Direct interview on the companys website, Switch 2 producer Kouichi Kawamoto explicitly says players will be able to destroy anything you want in the game without restrictions, adding that this is something only possible thanks to the improved hardware. There were some suspicions that any new Donkey Kong game would see Mario make an appearance as well, but it seems this will strictly be a DK only adventure.More TrendingIn fact, the trailer doesnt feature any other established characters from previous games, with no sign of Diddy Kong, Cranky Kong, or even Funky Kong.We are introduced to what are likely the games villains, which are a gang of evil-looking apes, and a sentient purple rock that looks to be a new companion character, like how Cappy was for Mario in Super Mario Odyssey. How much will Donkey Kong Bananza cost?Donkey Kong Bananza is set to cost 66.99 physically and 58.99 digitally according to the official Nintendo UK website. Not as much as Mario Kart Worlds asking price, but its still rather steep. The digital version being cheaper than the physical one will likely become the norm for Nintendos first party output, and its unlikely these high price points will be the exception going forward. • Dems Celebrate Elons Humiliation After MAGA Loss in Wisconsin
    gizmodo.com
By Matt Novak Published April 2, 2025 | Comments (0) | Elon Musk tosses a signed cheesehead hat into the audience during an America PAC town hall ahead of the Wisconsin Supreme Court election at the KI Convention Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin, US, on Sunday, March 30, 2025. Jamie Kelter Davis/Bloomberg via Getty Images Elon Musk spent $20 million in Wisconsin trying to elect a MAGA judge to the state Supreme Court, just to lose by 10 points on Tuesday. And there are already reports that Musks time in the White House may be limited due to President Donald Trumps patience wearing thin. But if you ask leaders of the Democratic Party, who see the billionaire oligarch as electoral poison, they want Musk to keep campaigning for Republicans. The Democratic National Committee held a press call Wednesday to celebrate the partys victory in Wisconsin, encouraging Musk to keep being the public face of the Republican Party. We should be putting Elon Musk into every state right now campaigning because hes actually a huge boon to Democrats right now, said DNC chair Ken Martin. And frankly, the American people are quite frustrated with this guy and what hes been doing since Donald Trump was inaugurated. So the more Elon Musk wants to get out there, I say go for it, Elon. Theres plenty of other states wed love you to campaign in. The chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin Ben Wikler echoed that sentiment, pointing out the destruction Musk has wrought as the head of DOGE, the so-called Department of Government Efficiency, which has unilaterally dismantled federal agencies like USAID and fired tens of thousands of federal workers. Elon Musks spending comes with it the taint of an administration that is attacking Social Security, that is dismantling unions, that is ravaging the Veterans Administration, that is doing things that have always been known to be political suicide, Wikler said. And for Elon Musk to then tie himself to Republican candidates is the political kiss of death. But Wikler also seemed to revel in the fact that Musk was still in the White House, perhaps betraying the Democratic Partys tendency to focus too heavily on optics and elections rather than the substance of what Musk is destroying in between elections. I hope that he stays at the White House with Donald Trump, Wikler said of Musk, that they appear together in the Oval Office, that he dominates cabinet meetings, and that he poses for photos with every member of the Republican House and Senate. The posing part makes sense. The Tesla CEO appears to be toxic to regular voters if the vote tally in Wisconsin on Tuesday is any guideto say nothing of the protests and vandalism at Tesla dealerships around the world. But Wiklers message that Musk should continue to be involved in day-to-day decisions by the Trump regime clearly runs counter to what Democrats should want. And Wikler may have realized his verbal slip-up, later saying during the press call that he wanted Musk to get stripped of any real power. Elon Musk should become Donald Trumps special envoy for midterm elections and go out and speak on the campaign trail in every possible state in every possible district, Wikler said. At the same time, Elon Musk should be removed as quickly as possible from any position of power over the federal government. The damage that hes doing to irreparable institutions that have served families across the state of Wisconsin and across the country, its a horror. Elon Musk is gutting the Social Security Administration, gutting the Veterans Administration. Democrats have finally started to push back against Musk in various ways, though some tactics may prove to be more effective than others. Rep. Jamie Raskin, ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, sent a letter Wednesday to FBI director Kash Patel asking for an investigation into Musks ties to China. Its an important ask, given Musks interest in interfering with global politics from Germany to the UK.But Democrats clearly need to remember that this isnt just about winning or losing elections. The part that really matters is what happens in between those elections. And while Musk might be hurting Republicans at the ballot box right now, he can still do tremendous damage between now and the next election.Daily NewsletterYou May Also Like By Matt Novak Published April 2, 2025 By Thomas Maxwell Published April 2, 2025 By Matt Novak Published April 1, 2025 By Matt Novak Published April 1, 2025 By Thomas Maxwell Published April 1, 2025 By Matt Novak Published April 1, 2025

Surrounded by a large suspended planter in dialogue with the garden, Floreira House reflects nature in a countryside condominium. Privacy, minimalism, and the demand for low maintenance were the driving forces behind the creation of a residence designed for gatherings of friends and family in a condominium in the town of Porto Feliz, in the countryside of So Paulo. To bring these characteristics to life, Matheus Farah e Manoel Maia Arquitetura designed a large garden at the rear of the 3,182 sqm lot, toward which all other areas are oriented, serving as the heart of the project. On the upper floor, elongated metal planters encircle the entire external area, softening the transition between materials and creating a dialogue with the garden. The prominent presence of this element justifies the name Floreira House (House of Planters).Save this picture! In addition to shrubs and trees, the ground-level garden houses a generously sized pool integrated with the social areas, including the dining room, living room, and office. Large glass panels allow for complete openness to the exterior, creating a spacious veranda characterized by visual permeability and harmony between spaces. To protect the functional areas, transparency gives way to concrete walls that enclose the kitchen and laundry room, as well as the gym, sauna, and changing room, which support the pool area. The first floor provides access to the private quarters, consisting of six suites. Five of them, positioned laterally, receive sunlight filtered through dark gray aluminum brise-soleils and offer views that engage with the sides of the lot. The master suite, located at the end of the floor, faces the garden. It features a cozy balcony that serves as a vantage point to contemplate both the pool and the expansive horizon where the property is situated. The interior design is composed of neutral tones and sober, minimalist finishes, with furniture that gives prominence to pieces by renowned Brazilian designers such as Jorge Zalszupin, Sergio Rodrigues, Jader Almeida, and Carlos Motta.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!Sustainability and Efficiency in Dry Construction. The owners desire for an agile project with uncomplicated execution led to the choice of industrialized and custom-made prefabricated materials, from structural elements to finishes, ensuring minimal waste generation. For the building's exterior, concrete panels with a wood mold were used, with tonal variations to visually distinguish the concrete volumes that characterize the ground and upper floors. Beyond the construction, the projects sustainability is reflected in the details, such as the inclusion of an automated irrigation system for the garden and the preparation of infrastructure for the installation of photovoltaic panels. Lighting control in the social areas and the master suite is also personalized through light settings, allowing the spaces to be adapted for any occasion.Save this picture!Project gallerySee allShow lessAbout this officePublished on April 02, 2025Cite: "Floreira House / Matheus Farah + Manoel Maia Arquitetura" [Casa Floreira / Matheus Farah + Manoel Maia Arquitetura] 02 Apr 2025.
