iPhone 17 Series Design Spotted in Leaked Dummy Units; Pro Models Seen With New Camera Module
Photo Credit: X/ @SonnyDickson iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max could arrive with the most noticeable design changes Highlights iPhone 17 dummy models allegedly reveal design The vanilla iPhone 17 seems to retain the familiar design The new Air model appears to have a completely new design Advertisement iPhone 17 series is likely to go official in September, but plenty of leaks about the designs of the next-generation iPhone family are already popping up on the Web. Most recently, new renders of dummy units of the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air (or Slim), iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max (or Ultra) have leaked online, offering a look at their design. The renders show all four iPhone 17 variants side by side in black and white shades. The vanilla iPhone 17 seems to retain the familiar design, while the Pro models bring a fresh camera bar designiPhone 17 Series' Dummy Units Give Us Another Look at Their DesignTipster Sonny Dickson (@SonnyDickson) shared images of the alleged dummy units of the entire iPhone 17 lineup on X (formerly Twitter). The renders showcase the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max in black and white colour options. Apple could be planning to leave the design of the standard model unchanged from the iPhone 16, which has a vertical camera layout with two sensors. The iPhone 17 Air, which is expected to replace the iPhone 16 Plus, appears to have a completely new design. It has a thin build, and the camera layout of the phone is different from the other models. It is shown with a elongated pill-shaped camera array that resembles the one on Google Pixel phones. The horizontally aligned camera island appears to house a single sensor.Apple's iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max appear to receive the most noticeable design changes. They are shown with a redesigned long horizontal camera bar instead of the current square design of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. It's worth noting that the switch to a larger camera housing has already been revealed in previous leaks. The shade of the camera islands matches the colour of the casing. Both Pro models appear to be equipped with three rear cameras, like their predecessors. The iPhone 17 series is likely to be unveiled in September of this year, if we go by Apple's previous launch timelines. With a few months to go until the next iPhone models are released, we can anticipate more design leaks before the phones are launched by the company. But we live in more expensive times today where retailers rarely offer those kinds of discounts. I'm interested in the new system but may not buy it at launch.  cmdrshepard The Fallen Oct 30, 2017 1,596 I was on the fence as to whether I would upgrade at launch or later but considering this seems to be launching here under US RRP after conversion and my worry is the RRP may go up in the future (like the PS5) rather than down, I have happily placed my preorder   eZipsis The Fallen Oct 25, 2017 2,900 Melbourne, Australia I didn't expect them to be live this morning, I've preordered the Mario Kart World bundle and a Pro Controller. Yeah when I saw the the price in other currencies I was expecting more than this. Cheaper than in the US and this includes GST, and a lot cheaper than in Europe. Now if I should preorder or not, nothing at launch really grabs me other than the thought of playing the probable switch 2 version of MP4  Aarglefarg Member Oct 27, 2017 4,184 Games going from $70 to $114 is a lot. I expected more like $90 since that's what Tears of the Kingdom was. I pre-ordered the bundle from JB, to support Amazon less where I can. But JB takes the money out on a pre-order right away which I didn't expect.  eZipsis The Fallen Oct 25, 2017 2,900 Melbourne, Australia ShadowAUS said: Tempted to trade my PS5 as it gets turned on about once every two or three years. Yup same, I was tempted to trade my PS5 as well, even though I pretty much only use it for media apps, Yotei is a game I really want to play and I don't know how long it will be before it comes to PC. My regular Switch I'm going to give to my son.  NippleViking Member May 2, 2018 4,694 Ordered. The game pricing largely kills my enthusiasm though (not that I've ever really paid RRP in the past for any games) If there were better trade deals for Switch 1 I'd be tempted to jump on it.  Abicus Member Oct 25, 2017 494 Australia On the $110 game price front, doesn't Big W normally undercut EB etc by retailing a bit cheaper?   Poimandres Member Oct 26, 2017 7,812 Abicus said: On the $110 game price front, doesn't Big W normally undercut EB etc by retailing a bit cheaper? Click to expand... Click to shrink... Retail price wars for games are pretty decent here. Big W can go cheap often, and Amazon deals are a regular occurrence. I'm worried about Big W staying in the physical games space (but if anyone is safe from this it's Nintendo) and even EB Games I can't see carrying on for much longer. It could very well be that physical games become harder to get so prices stay high.  Mario_Bones Member Oct 31, 2017 3,752 Australia Stayed up til 3:30am to get a preorder only for them to still be in stock in the morning 🫠 At least it means people won't have to fight scalpers for them! And I was fully expecting EB to timegate them or outright lock them behind their crappy new subscription The console price isn't too bad but whew, those game and controller prices 😬  Gouda Member Oct 25, 2017 46 Waikato, New Zealand New Zealand prices/preorders are up at EB: https://www.ebgames.co.nz/nintendo-switch $799.95NZD/$869.95NZD. Or I suppose maybe they'll just stay high this time, lol. The fact that the websites aren't even getting hit hard and you can seemingly just lock in a pre-order without issue says it all, though. While there are no direct tariffs on the Switch 2 here, the mood of the tariffs has shook the global economy and will definitely have an impact on parts of the global supply chain (like how Trump has put a 40+% tariff on Vietnam, where a lot of Nintendo's manufacturing takes place). Inflation is a key factor in the price hike, but don't discount tariffs even if we as consumers are not paying them directly.  Ramsay Member Jul 2, 2019 3,807 Australia Honestly that's quite a bit cheaper than I expected - I was fully expecting the bundle to go for NINE HUNDRED DOLLARYDOOS?! nogoodnamesleft said: Has nothing to do with tarrifs here It's basically a straight usd to AUD conversation with gst Edit: it's actually cheaper in aus when a straight conversation is done Click to expand... Click to shrink... Keep in mind that the US is one of the biggest gaming markets - Nintendo is probably trying to spread out the impact of tariffs amongst as many different markets as possible to reduce the impact of tariffs on the US (if they didn't the Switch 2 would probably cost $499 in the US).   Pat_DC Member Oct 27, 2017 2,362 The sites are so cruisey so not sure if I should even put a pre order down. Still one big part of me upgrading (only reason I got a ps5 pro) is due to good trade in deals and EB games one seems way less crazy than what they offered for ps5s etc, though I get resale value on a switch is probably lower. But was keen to ditch my launch edition switch as the fan is getting gnarly, pretty sure I could get more for my oled through private sale... but then need to deal with bozos. Bugger it, put $50 down at EB and will look at trading some older stuff towards it if preview events look promising. This definitely feels less crazy than other preorders, the looming economical situation worldwide has a lot of people on edge I think.  Last edited: Apr 2, 2025 NightShift Member Oct 25, 2017 10,226 Australia Huh, that's actually not bad. I was expecting far worse both for the consoles and games. I'm guessing digital """premium"""" games will be a cool $99? Also a very good sign that stock is still available after six hours. So picking one up when it eventually gets games won't be a headache.  Bleep Member Nov 12, 2017 249 It was very easy getting a preorder... I hope stores can actually fulfil these orders on time.   MTR Member Oct 27, 2017 508 Decent price for Australia. Seems demand quite low compared to any other console launch of the last few years.   Villa Member Oct 28, 2017 958 Got a click&collect pre-order at JB. Mario Kart bundle plus a pro controller and case/screen protector. This will somehow be the first console I've ever got on Day 1 (assuming theres no issues with preorders/stock), I've previously always been a few weeks/months late. Will be fun to be in on the day 1 excitement! Pretty surprised that it's still seemingly freely available everywhere. Maybe a combination of pricing and being available for pre-order instantly, earlier than expected? Even if the pricing can be somewhat understandable given inflation, exchange rates, world economic conditions, etc, it's still a huge jump up from the OG Switch. And most people's incomes haven't nearly caught up with the last few years inflation.  Nateo Member Oct 27, 2017 8,898 Yeah these arent selling out. Expensive games+console+cost of living crisis.   callamp Member Oct 27, 2017 1,629 Yeah, demand certainly seems pretty soft. I recall websites basically being unusable during the launch of the PS5 and even the Series consoles. It's certainly understandable. It's a giant investment given how infrequently Nintendo games go on sale. It's by far the most expensive console if you are primarily interested in first party content.  Darmik Member Oct 25, 2017 1,031 Yeah this has been the easiest console preorder in a while. I had an easy time getting a PS5 but that was more to timing. We're coming up to Switch 2 being available all morning and still seems quite easy. Nintendo does tend to be a bit more aggressive with pricing compared to the competition here. Although they've certainly closed that software pricing gap with the Switch 2.

Samsung To Reportedly Hold An Event On May 13 To Unveil The Galaxy S25 Edge, With The Ultra-Slim Flagship Apparently Launching In Three Markets Later That Month
Menu Home News Hardware Gaming Mobile Finance Deals Reviews How To Wccftech MobileRumor Samsung To Reportedly Hold An Event On May 13 To Unveil The Galaxy S25 Edge, With The Ultra-Slim Flagship Apparently Launching In Three Markets Later That Month Omar Sohail • Apr 24, 2025 at 01:39am EDT The fourth member of the Galaxy S25 family, the Galaxy S25 Edge, is finally said to have a launch date, as a report claims that Samsung will make the announcement official next month. The only drawback to the arrival of the upcoming ultra-thin premium smartphone is that not all regions will be able to appreciate the effort it took to ‘slim’ down the flagship, because the company only has three target markets for this device. Then again, Samsung’s plans could change depending on how well-received the Galaxy S25 Edge is in those countries. Only South Korea, the U.S,. and China will be treated to the Galaxy S25 Edge, with its price set between the Galaxy S25 Plus and Galaxy S25 Ultra A report from Fnnews that was spotted by @Jukanlosreve mentioned May 13 as the Galaxy S25 Edge’s launch date. An unnamed industry source stated that Samsung will hold a ‘Galaxy Unpacked’ event at the aforementioned date, where various specification details, colors and prices of the upcoming handset expected to be a part of the announcement. What is interesting is that Samsung will host an entire event just for a single product launch, but there is also the possibility that the Korean giant will livestream it, since it does not make much sense to introduce just a single device. Shortly after the May 13 announcement, pre-orders of the Galaxy S25 Edge will commence on May 14 and conclude on May 20, with the ultra-slim flagship expected to be available in South Korea and China first. Shortly after, the smartphone is scheduled to arrive in the U.S., but there is no word on whether the Galaxy S25 Edge will be sold officially in other markets. According to a previous estimate, Samsung’s initial production target was a mere 40,000 units, but this figure could just be to gauge how the three markets respond to the launch. Assuming the Galaxy S25 Edge picks up in popularity, Samsung could ask its supply chain to pick up the production pace. Fortunately, those who are contemplating on making this sleek flagship their daily driver, a deleted hands-on video in the form of YouTube Shorts was published, showing the Galaxy S25 Edge’s thickness and partial specifications, so you can check out those details if you want to be slightly informed about this particular model.

    Alternatives to Octrees?
Author I am interested in replacing my octree system with something simpler, with the following characteristics.Insertion, removal, and relocation of tens of thousands of entities with a defined bounding box into the scene.Fast ray intersection test, with some method of optimization.Fast bounding box intersection test, to retrieve all entities that intersect an arbitrary box.Fast convex hull intersection test, for culling against the camera frustum. No maximum boundary has to be defined; limited only by floating point precision. These systems can be very hard to test, so it should be simple enough that I can just look at the code to verify it works as expected.I have some ideas how this could be done but would like to hear yours. Is there a know technique that will provide good results with modern CPUs? Maybe an existing library specifically for this purpose? I am thinking that with superoptimized C++ code, you could use a very rough optimization step, and then brute-force the rest. Josh Klint said:I am interested in replacing my octree systemOne interesting option is to use a higher brancing factor, e.g. 4^3 children instead the usual 2^3 with octree. This way you need much fewer tree levels, so less cache misses while traversing.Finding adjacent nodes also requires less traversals, since more neighbours are likely in the same block.Implementation remains basically the same to octree. For something simpler, a multilevel grid with a dense top level and sparse child levels is an option. E.g. we have a large horizontal 256^2 grid for the whole world, and only if there are a lot of elements in a cell we subdivide them once (or maybe two times) more. Both those ideas can be combined. In my fluid particles simulator i use a large but low res dense grid at the top, expanding to 4^3 subdivisions where needed.Another option i often use is a horizontal 2D grid, where each cell points to a ‘column’ of vertical nodes for the 3rd dimension. If we sort the column by height, we can find any node first from trivial 2D grid coords, then doing binary 1D search for height. So we get a sparse grid not requiring a tree traversal.Nice, but it depends on content how optimal this is. Game worlds are usually flat, so that works well.In general, the main alternaive to octree is BVH i would say. Advantage of BVH is we can refit instead rebuild with moving elements. But we need more memory for the bounds.
