Anthropic bets on personalization in the AI arms race with new styles feature
Join our daily and weekly newsletters for the latest updates and exclusive content on industry-leading AI coverage. Learn MoreAnthropic, a leading artificial intelligence company backed by major tech investors, announced today a significant update to its Claude AI assistant that allows users to customize how the AI communicates a move that could reshape how businesses integrate AI into their workflows. The new styles feature, launching today on Claude.ai, enables users to preset how Claude responds to queries, offering formal, concise, or explanatory modes. Users can also create custom response patterns by uploading sample content that matches their preferred communication style.Customization becomes key battleground in enterprise AI raceThis development comes as AI companies race to differentiate their offerings in an increasingly crowded market dominated by OpenAIs ChatGPT and Googles Gemini. While most AI assistants maintain a single conversational style, Anthropics approach acknowledges that different business contexts require different communication approaches. At the moment, many users dont even know they can instruct AI to answer in a specific way, an Anthropic spokesperson told VentureBeat. Styles helps break through that barrier it teaches users a new way to use AI and has the potential to open up knowledge they previously thought was inaccessible.Early enterprise adoption suggests promising results. GitLab, an early customer, has already integrated the feature into various business processes. Claudes ability to maintain a consistent voice while adapting to different contexts allows our team members to use styles for various use cases including writing business cases, updating user documentation, and creating and translating marketing materials, said Taylor McCaslin, Product Lead AI/ML at GitLab, in a statement sent to VentureBeat.Notably, Anthropic is taking a strong stance on data privacy with this feature. Unlike other AI labs, we dont train our generative AI models on user-submitted data by default. Anything users upload will not be used to train our models, the company spokesperson emphasized. This position contrasts with some competitors practices of using customer interactions to improve their models.AI customization signals shift in enterprise strategyWhile team-wide style sharing wont be available at launch, Anthropic appears to be laying groundwork for broader enterprise features. Were striving to make Claude as efficient and user-friendly as possible across a range of industries, workflows, and individuals, the spokesperson said, suggesting future expansions of the feature. The move comes as enterprise AI adoption accelerates, with companies seeking ways to standardize AI interactions across their organizations. By allowing businesses to maintain consistent communication styles across AI interactions, Anthropic is positioning Claude as a more sophisticated tool for enterprise deployment. The introduction of styles represents a crucial strategic pivot for Anthropic. While competitors have focused on raw performance metrics and model size, Anthropic is betting that the key to enterprise adoption lies in adaptability and user experience. This approach could prove particularly appealing to large organizations struggling to maintain consistent communication across diverse teams and departments. The feature also addresses a growing concern among enterprise customers: the need to maintain brand voice and corporate communication standards while leveraging AI tools. As the AI industry matures beyond its initial phase of technical one-upmanship, the battlefield is shifting toward practical implementation and user experience. Anthropics styles feature might seem like a modest update, but it signals a deeper understanding of what enterprises really need from AI: not just intelligence, but intelligence that speaks their language. And in the high-stakes world of enterprise AI, sometimes its not what you say, but how you say it that matters most.VB DailyStay in the know! PlayStation veteran Shuhei Yoshida to retire in January
PlayStation veteran Shuhei Yoshida to retire in JanuaryThe firm's development leader to step down after 31 years News by Christopher Dring Head of Games B2B Published on Nov. 27, 2024 Shuhei Yoshida will retire from Sony Interactive Entertainment on January 15 next year.Yoshida has held numerous leadership roles at PlayStation since he joined the team in 1993. His initial role involved working with publishers and developers in Japan to help them create titles for the first PlayStation console. He's probably best known for his time as president of Worldwide Studios, leading PlayStation's first-party development for over a decade between 2008 and 2019. Since 2019, he has led PlayStation's relationship with indie studios as the head of PlayStation Indies.Speaking to the official PlayStation Podcast, Yoshida recounted his early years as part of Ken Kutaragi's initial PlayStation team."I joined Ken Kutanagi's team in February of 1993, when they were still developing the original PlayStation. Ken's team had only engineers. Everyone was engineers. And I was the first non-technical person to join the team as the company, Sony Corporation at the time, started to plan to bring PlayStation to market."He continued: "We were so excited about the innovation that Ken's team was bringing in, like 3D graphics, real-time technology, and CD-ROM with lots of data that we can put in with a low cost of manufacturing. And so we had really high hopes, high ambitions."However, we were not known in the video game industry. And there were other electronics companies, big companies that tried to enter the video game industry and, you know, didn't do well. So at the beginning before the launch of PlayStation, I think we were not taken very seriously from the industry, to be honest."He describes his current job of working with indies as his "dream job". And his fondest memory was when one such small game, Journey, was named Game of the Year at the DICE summit in 2013."The whole audience stood up and the whole room was filled with happiness and an amazing feeling that this small game could have such a big impact on people's lives," he said.GamesIndustry.biz last spoke with Shuhei Yoshida in 2023 ahead of his BAFTA Fellowship Award. CD Projekt Q3 revenue down 49% as Witcher 4 development enters full swing
Polish developer CD Projekt released its financials for the third quarter of 2024-2025's fiscal year, which concluded on September 30, 2024. The studio had strong numbers in the first half of the year, but there were dips in revenue for both the third quarter and the larger fiscal year thus far.CDP made 227.5 million PLN (or $55.2 million) in sales revenue for the third quarter, down 49 percent from the 442.6 million PLN during 2023-2024's third quarter. Net profit also fell to 78.1 million PLN this quarter, a drop of 61.4 percent from the same timeframe last year.Revenue for the first three quarters of 2024-2025 (January 1, 2024-September 30, 2024) was 652.3 million PLN, a 15 percent decline compared to last year's three-quarter figure (767.6 million PLN).Profit and losses for CD Projekt's 2024-2025 third quarter.Despite those decreases, CDP CFO Piotr Nielubowicz called this recent quarter "very strong." Cyberpunk 2077 and its 2023 expansion Phantom Liberty were praised for selling 30 million copies and 8 million copies (respectively) by quarter's end. Both titles, and 2015's The Witcher 3, have been continuously touted as big drivers for CDP's revenue and sales.Alongside these "impressive figures" for Cyberpunk, CDP CEO Michal Nowakowski reaffirmed the game's release on Mac in 2025.All eyes on The Witcher 4Earlier this year, CD Projekt Red began pre-production on The Witcher 4, currently codenamed 'Polaris.' According to Nowakowski, the studio is now in full production on the title, which will be developed in Unreal Engine 5 and is intended as the start of a new series of games.Out of CDPR's 650 developers, 400 workers are currently devoted to Polaris, as of Halloween 2024. 64 staffers are handling 'Orion' (Cyberpunk's sequel), and 42 employees are on 'Sirius,' a multiplayer Witcher spinoff from The Molasses Flood. Last year, the studio restarted development on the project after it laid off nearly 30 developers.CD Projekt's full financials for 2024-2025's third quarter can be read here.

Porsche is holding on to gas cars for a bit longer
Porsche is holding on to gas cars for a bit longerPorsche is holding on to gas cars for a bit longer / Porsches plan to switch to making only EVs is shifting as sales of all-electric models have dropped.By Umar Shakir, a news writer fond of the electric vehicle lifestyle and things that plug in via USB-C. He spent over 15 years in IT support before joining The Verge. Nov 27, 2024, 12:57 AM UTCShare this story Photo by Sean OKane / The VergePorsche is not ready to turn in its gas caps for charging ports just yet. The company reportedly plans to launch more internal combustion engine models due to a slowdown in EV sales, according to Automotive News Europe. The automakers CFO, Lutz Meschke, told the outlet, What is clear is that we are sticking with the combustion engine for much longer. As Car and Driver notes, he also said theres a clear trend in the premium luxury segment that is leaning towards gas engines, and as a result, Porsche will react in its product cycle.Porsche sells two pricey electric vehicles: the Taycan and the recently launched Macan. It planned to bring more EV-only models, including a Cayenne 718 and a new high-performance SUV. But now Meschke says Porsche might make hybrid drive or combustion engine versions of those EVs and are in the middle of making conceptual decisions. Porsche previously aimed to have 80 percent of its sales be electric models by 2030. The company pushed out a RWD Macan and redesigned Taycan this year as its EV sales cratered in the US, and its also not doing too well in China, where domestic brands are making cheaper EVs.Most PopularMost Popular

Chu. This film adaptation epitomizes what modern movie musicals can and should be, embracing its source material while cleverly translating it to screen. Tear-jerking performances by Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo make the movie, playing to their individual strengths to bring to life the rapport between Glinda and Elphaba, wholl go on to become the good and wicked witches of Wizard of Oz fame. If as many people love this film as much as I did, Wicked will undoubtedly immortalize the Grande and Erivo in movie musical history."For more film deals, check out the great prices on Blu-Rays during Amazon's Black Friday sale.
