• How To Get The Guitar In Stalker 2: Heart Of Chornobyl
    gamerant.com
Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl has a slew of weapons and items that aid in combat against various threats of the Zone, but a guitar is the most surprising addition. If you've visited some campfires in the game and seen NPCs playing soothing tones on a guitar, the game lets you do that too. Players can find a guitar of their own quite early on, which can be used either while sitting at campfires or simply when out in the world.

  • These charming mini movies will teach you about the people who live in the coldest town on Earth
    www.polygon.com
Kiun Bs YouTube videos are mini documentaries about her life and the lives of the 800 people who live in her hometown of Yakutia, Siberia, aka the coldest town on Earth. The creator, who narrates the videos, says she and her community are native to the region. The enchanting mini docs showcase their customs, culture, and day-to-day life which looks quite different when its 95 degrees Fahrenheit below zero outside. This installment follows a family through their day, including waking up before the sun to feed the furnace fire and melt ice for drinking water. They don layers and layers of insulated clothing just to walk short distances outside or long distances, in the case of the schoolkids who bundle up each day to commute to class. The stories are humbling, especially as you sit in your cozy home and watch the Yakutians do such hard, backbreaking work just to keep their homes running through the winter. (Dont worry, it gets warm in the summer and theres a video about that, too!)This documentary has that easy, informative Nat Geo vibe that makes it an unchallenging watch with family over the holidays, for instance. But the creator and narrator being from Yakutia herself gives it a more grounded tone and, of course, better insight about life in the town. While its never a good idea to chalk an entire culture up to one YouTube channel, I didnt know anything about Yakutia or the contemporary lives of the Indigenous people of Siberia before watching these videos, and they exposed me to something I mightve never learned about otherwise. And who hasnt wondered how the people who live in the harsh climate of Siberia make it all work? To have that question answered and to learn how those people thrive in a cold I cant even conceive of is a great way to spend 20 minutes.

  • WORKac and Ignacio Urquiza use Green concrete for Mexico City community centre
    www.dezeen.com
Studios WORKacand Ignacio Urquiza Architects have completed a green-tinted concrete building as part of the PILARES programme, which works to build supportive public facilities in vulnerable and impoverished areas across Mexico City.Located in Azcapotzalco, a borough in the northwestern part of the city, the building was designed as part of the government-backed PILARES programme, which stands for Points of Innovation, Freedom, Art, Education and Knowledge.WORKac and Ignacio Urquiza Architects have created a community centre in Mexico City"PILARES are a series of strategically located public buildings across Mexico City, sited in areas experiencing high levels of vulnerability and poverty," the team said."Each PILARES building is designed to support various kinds of classes and workshops in support of skill building, as well as bringing cultural programming, learning opportunities and safe spaces for leisure and cross-generational gathering to each neighbourhood."It was made with green-tinted concreteThis is the second PILARES project designed by New York'sWORKacand Mexico City'sIgnacio Urquiza Arquitectos. The other is a blue-tinted-concrete community centre in the Lomas de Becerra neighbourhood. The Azcapotzalco facility follows a similar approach as that first project. The building hosts classes and workshops as part of the PILARES programDesigned on a tight budget, the three-storey building is located on an irregularly shaped, corner property in a dense area. The team took into account existing trees while designing the 447-square-metre (4,800-square-foot) building, which features an angled ground-floor plan lined by a plaza. It is three stories and located in an irregularly shaped, corner property"Diagonal cuts on the ground floor provide clear and free-flowing pedestrian routes in any direction, inviting users to walk around the park and enter the building," the team said.Glazing on the ground level helps diminish the boundary between inside and out. Wide glass doors slide open and closed, further strengthening the connection to the neighbourhood.Read: Mexico City community centre features blue-tinted concrete wallsThe upper floors were conceived as platforms arranged around a central staircase. The interior is configured in a way that facilitates natural illumination and ventilation. Daylight flows in through expansive windows and a large skylight.Natural illumination and ventilation keep the interior comfortableSome areas of the building have a prescribed use, such as studio-like spaces fitted with desks and computers.Other rooms, however, have been left open and flexible. They are commonly used for physical activity, such as classes focused on yoga, hip-hop dancing and martial arts. The architects said the building has been a valuable addition to the area, drawing in multi-generational users and meeting a local need for a space "in which to move, learn and live."Other PILARES projects in Mexico City include a community centre by Rozana Montiel that features bridges, walkways and exterior staircases. The building won the public vote for civic building of the year in the 2022 Dezeen Awards programme. The photography is by Ramiro del Carpio.Project credits:Architects: WORKac and Ignacio Urquiza Architects (IUA)WORKac team: Amale Andraos (principal), Dan Wood (principal), Wuyahuang Li (design lead)IUA team: Ignacio Urquiza (principal), Michela Lostia di Santa Sofa, Eder Hernndez, Mara del Mar Carballo, Ana Laura Ochoa, Anet Carmona, No Garca, Len Chvez, Fernando Tueme, Sacha BourgarelStructure and engineering: BVG (Csar Barquera, Eduardo Barquera), EcomadiLandscape: Genfor Landscaping (Tanya Eguiluz)Development: Mexico City government and ZV Studio (Carlos Zedillo)Client: Mexico City governmentThe post WORKac and Ignacio Urquiza use Green concrete for Mexico City community centre appeared first on Dezeen.

  • How we work: Amber's reporting and high-tech crafting setup
    appleinsider.com
Amber's work setup includes an iMac, a MacBook Air, an iPad Air and one very, very expensive laser cutter. Here's how it all works together, and how she gets things done for AppleInsider.A small smattering of my tech gearAt this point, I'm pretty sure I've earned my reputation as the most tech-critical member of the AppleInsider staff through countless other pieces I've written. I'm sure that'll also be reflected here. When Mike asked me to write a piece about my setup, I scoffed. Surely, my setup would be far less impressive than my coworkers' and I still stand by that. • iPad mini 7 two-month review: Now I get it
    appleinsider.com
Two months of usage later, the iPad mini 7 is still a great compact media and gaming tablet, though there are certainly some areas for improvement.iPad mini 7 two-month review: The iPad mini isn't perfect, but it might still be the best iPad for you.I owned the very first Retina iPad mini way back in 2014, but it was only ever a Netflix machine for me. With the release of the new seventh-generation model that's all changed, and it might just be the defacto iPad from here on out.The new 2024 iPad mini is the smallest tablet in a lineup dominated by superfast, super-big tablets. But after spending a few weeks with the new A17 Pro-powered, I think I finally get why you should buy one. Continue Reading on AppleInsider | Discuss on our Forums

  • The SwitchBot S10, one of our favorite robovac / mop hybrids, is $500 off
    www.theverge.com
If youre somebody who likes to clean and declutter in preparation for a new year, one way to speed it up is by investing in a good robot vacuum. The SwitchBot S10 is one of our favorite vacuums that also happens to be a terrific mop, too, and is currently down to its all-time low price of $699.99 ($500 off) when you clip the on-page coupon at Amazon. Its also available for the same price directly from SwitchBot when you apply the promo code BFCM500A.Related Of all the robot vacuums weve ever tested, the SwitchBot S10 offers the most hands-free experience, so you really can set it and forget it. The self-cleaning roller mop does an excellent job of polishing up your floors, and is even capable of lifting itself up to keep carpets dry. Whats more, the Switch S10 comes with an auto-empty dock as well as a separate battery-powered dock water station, which means the bot can empty and refill its own water tank. Just bear in mind youll have to hook it into your water supply.Aside from offering a fantastic mopping and hands-free experience, the SwitchBot S10 is also a good vacuum with 6,500Pa suction power and decent AI-powered obstacle avoidance, although it admittedly cant rival specs from competitors like Roborock, Dreame, and Ecovacs. That said, the SwitchBot S10 costs about $1,000 less, and for the price it does a great job of leaving the floor mostly spotless.Read our SwitchBot S10 review.SwitchBot S10 $700$119942% off$700$700$119942% offThe S10 is a great mopping robot with a battery-powered water refill dock that makes it the most hands-free robovac weve tested. • These three improvements will make AirTag 2 far more useful: coming next year
    9to5mac.com
According to Bloomberg, Apple is working on a second generation version of its popular and affordable item tracker, the AirTag, which initially debuted in 2021. Heres everything what were expecting Apple to deliver with AirTag 2.UpgradesIn a report from Bloombergs Mark Gurman a few weeks ago, AirTag 2 has progressed in manufacturing tests, and there are three key upgrades to expect:Better rangeImproved wireless chipHigher focus on privacyApple will reportedly introduce a new ultrawide band chip in the next generation AirTag, allowing for up to triple the range with precision finding. This means youll be able to track your AirTags from 30-90 meters away, vs just 10-30 meters away with the current generation version. A newer wireless chip could also improve location accuracy in less densely populated areas. In the past, people have used AirTags for stalking, and some have even modified AirTags to completely disable the built in speaker, making it harder for Apple to make targeted users aware of a nearby AirTag. Improvements in anti-stalking features would hopefully make it easier for targeted users to locate AirTags.Release dateAirTag 2 is expected to release in mid 2025, according to Bloomberg:Apple is working on a new AirTag code-named B589 for release around the middle of next year.In the meanwhile, if youre considering buying the current generation of AirTag, theyre currently on sale, with asingle AirTagavailable for $24, and a4-packfor $69.99.
