SteamOS Will Soon Be Available on Non-Steam Deck Handhelds
Valve will begin allowing third-party handhelds to license SteamOS starting with Lenovo's new Legion Go S.At CES 2025, Lenovo announced that it will ship a version of its upcoming Legion Go S handheld called the "Powered by SteamOS" that will run, you guessed it, SteamOS. This is the same OS that powers Valve's Steam Deck, which is pretty good if you're primarily someone who owns all their PC games on Steam. As part of the launch, Valve published a blog that confirmed that alongside the Legion Go S, Valve is working on "a beta of SteamOS which should improve the epxerience on other handhelds and users can download and thest this themselves." Meaning that SteamOS should be available on non-Steam Deck handheld gaming PCs as well. The benefits of SteamOS, especially for those with massive Steam libraries, is that of the handheld PC interfaces, SteamOS is very smooth and easy to navigate. While not mandatory for handheld PC gaming, it has its fans and soon even non-Steam Deck owners can install it for their own handhelds.IGN is at CES 2025 where we already previewed the Legion Go S, a lighter version of Lenovo's 2023 handheld the Legion Go. It comes in a lighter formfactor, but with some improvements under the hood. It is not, however, a next-gen handheld. That's the Lenovo Go 2, which will utilize the AMD Z2 Extreme APU and is currently in the prototype phase.Be sure to stick around for all our updates from CES and let us know if you're excited to install SteamOS to your non-Steam Deck handheld.Matt Kim is IGN's Senior Features Editor.

iOS 18.3 beta 2 fixes key Calculator issue introduced last fall
Apple has just released iOS 18.3 beta 2. While so far we havent seen a ton of changes in iOS 18.3, the latest beta does bring one fix for the Calculator app that has been asked for often since iOS 18s redesign.Repeating operations are now possible again following iOS 18 removalWhen Apple released iOS and iPadOS 18 in September, the updates came with big and small changes to a wide variety of system apps.Calculator was among them.Apple brought Calculator to iPad for the first time, but it also took the opportunity to make some changes to the app on iPhone. Not all of those changes have been well received though. One negative change in particular was the removal of support for repeating operations.Previously, when making a calculation, you could hit the equals button repeatedly to perform further calculations. For example, if you entered 5 x 8 and hit equals, youd see the answer, 40. But you could then hit equals again to have 40 multiplied by 8 again. That 320 answer could then be multiplied by 8 again with another hit of the equals button.iOS 18 removed that behavior, but now its been restored in iOS 18.3 beta 2.You can hit the equals button over and over to perform new operations to your hearts content. Were you missing this Calculator feature? What other iOS 18 changes need to be addressed? Let us know in the comments.Best iPhone accessoriesAdd 9to5Mac to your Google News feed. FTC: We use income earning auto affiliate links. Have a Capital One Credit Card? The Discover Merger Could Change How You Pay
Capital One announced plans last year to acquire Discover in 2025 for $35.3 billion. The upcoming acquisition isn't final but could spell changes for Capital One cardholders currently on Visa or Mastercard networks."Capital One has said that it will transition its cards from the Visa and Mastercard payment networks to the Discover card network," said Jason Steele, a CNET Money expert review board member and credit card expert. If you're a Capital One cardholder, this could limit where you can use your credit card. How a Capital One payment network change could impact youDiscover is one of the four major credit card networks, along with Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Right now, Capital One offers both Visa and Mastercard credit cards but would shift to Discover if the acquisition goes through. Why does this matter? Discover's network is smaller than Visa and Mastercard and isn't accepted everywhere in the US or abroad."While many countries where Discover isn't widely accepted are places that aren't popular tourist destinations, some are," Steele said. For example, Discover isn't accepted in Panama, Kenya and Serbia, according to its website. In countries where Discover is accepted, the rules can vary by store.Steele also added that Discover isn't currently accepted at all major US retailers, such as Costco. How to prepare for the Capital One and Discover mergerIf you depend on your Capital One credit card as your primary payment method, you may want to look for a backup Visa or Mastercard option -- especially when traveling abroad. This will ensure you're able to cover a payment if a merchant doesn't accept cards on the Discover network.Although this acquisition isn't a guarantee, experts expect it will pass. If the merger goes through, keep your eye out for updates from either Discover or Capital One about any changes. More credit card advice

Successful Kickstarter 'Kero Quest 64' Could Come To The Switch Successor
Subscribe to Nintendo Life on YouTube791kIf you're a fan of oldschool 3D platformers, you might want to be on the lookout for Kero Quest 64 at some point in the future. This Kickstarter project by Stratobox has officially reached its "Switch port stretch goal" after banking more than $25,000 USD. It's a "collectathon 3D platformer inspired by other games in the genre" and is a project in partnership with GalaxyTrail (Freedom Planet). What's perhaps more interesting at this point in the Switch's life is the mention of a possible Switch "successor" release. Here's the full message from the team about this and the latest milestone:Subscribe to Nintendo Life on YouTube791kWatch on YouTube Holy Ribbity! We really cannot believe that we reached the Switch Port goal at all! We all grew up playing Nintendo games, and it was always our dream to see a project of ours on a Nintendo console, and now it will be reality! We will work hard and ensure that the game works and runs perfectly on the Nintendo Switch. Maybe we can be bold and also say that it might also come to the successor of the Nintendo Switch? Whatever the name of that ends up being, if the occasion offers itself, we will try our best to release Kero Quest 64 on it too!We will work hard so bakers can choose between a Switch key or a Steam key at launch too! PS: While we will do our best to offer the choice, we don't know how Nintendo handles game keys yet. We'll make an update once we know for sure!Thank you so much again for all your support, and we are working HARD on the game as we speak! Here's a sneak peak of a new enemy we're working on! It's quite bugged at the moment though...The campaign still has 12 days to go, with a few additional stretch goals available including a second DLC pack and a "popular indie character DLC pack".In Kero Quest 64, you'll take control of Kero - who can hop, jump and use his tongue to grab and grapple. There'll be more than 20 open levels to work through as you go on a quest to gain magical sharts and collect various other items such as gold coins and unlockable costumes. You can see it on display in the trailer above and there's also a demo you can download right now on Steam.Images: via Steam / Stratobox, GalaxyTrail Workin' the Z-axisWould you be interested in this kind of game? Delta SkyMiles members can now earn miles riding with Uber, ending its deal with Lyft
Uber announced during CES 2025 a multi-year exclusive partnership with Delta Air Lines that allows SkyMiles members to earn miles when they ride with Uber or order delivery through Uber Eats in the United States. The deal means an end of Deltas partnership with Lyft. The Uber partnership will launch in the spring, giving Uber customers access to perks like improved Uber pickup and drop off experiences at Delta hubs, according to a statement from the company. When asked what this meant, an Uber spokesperson declined to elaborate.Lyft and Delta formed its partnership in 2018; it will expire April 7, 2025. Years ago we teamed up with our first airline to unlock more ways to uplevel and innovate around travel experiences, thereby turning those customers into Lyft loyalists, an emailed statement from Lyft reads. Were continuing to expand our horizons by joining forces with major brands who share our customer obsession, like Alaska Airlines, Chase, DoorDash, Mastercard, Hilton, Disney, and Bilt.Link your Lyft accountand discover a growing world of benefits.Uber is promising its customers with accounts linked to a Delta Skymiles membership 1 mile per dollar spent on $40+ restaurant and grocery orders with Uber Eats and on UberX rides to and from the airport. Premium Rides, like Uber Comfort or Uber Black, will get users 2 miles per dollar spent. And for riders who reserve in advance, they can earn 3 miles per dollar spent. The tie-up with Delta may be one of the steps connecting the airline and Uber with Joby Aviation, an eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) startup that has its own separate partnerships with both Uber and Delta. Deltas partnership with Joby means that Delta customers will one day get to tap Jobys electric air taxi service, starting in NYC.Ubers partnership with Joby is more involved. Joby acquired Uber Elevate, Ubers urban air mobility unit, in 2020. Part of that deal was to integrate their respective services into each others apps for a more seamless connection between ground and air travel. Additionally, Jobys air taxi software, ElevateOS, which came out of that partnership, promises to enable on-demand mobility not unlike hailing an Uber ride.Last October, the three companies held an event in NYC where they spoke about a vision of connected mobility, stopping just shy of announcing a full-blown, three-way partnership.Joby, which is backed by both Uber and Delta, still has to get the necessary certifications to operate an electric air taxi service, but is aiming to launch in 2025.Spokespeople for Uber, Joby, and Delta declined to share any advancements in what I am predicting will be an obvious alliance.

Sam Altmans family responds to lawsuit alleging he sexually assaulted his sister
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman responded to sexual assault accusations from his estranged younger sister on Tuesday, calling the claims entirely untrue.According to the Saint Louis Post Dispatch, in a new lawsuit filed Monday, Annie Altman alleges her older brother sexually assaulted her over a nine-year period in the 1990s and 2000s. The suit echoes claims that Annie previously made on social media in 2021.Sam Altman acknowledged the lawsuit in a post on X on Tuesday, responding with a statement from his brothers, Max and Jack, as well as his mother, Connie. The Altman family alleges the lawsuits claims are false. They write that Annie has faced mental health challenges for several years and they are concerned about her well-being. The Altmans say they have tried to help Annie in many ways, including by financially supporting her for several years. The Altman family writes in the statement:Despite this, Annie continues to demand more money from us. In this vein, Annie has made deeply hurtful and entirely untrue claims about our family, and especially Sam. Weve chosen not to respond publicly, out of respect for her privacy and our own. However, she has now taken legal action against Sam, and we feel we have no choice but to address this.Over the years, she has accused members of our family of improperly withholding our fathers 401k funds, hacking her wifi, and shadowbanning her from various websites including ChatGPT, Twitter, and more. The worst allegation she has made is that she was sexually abused by Sam as a child (she has also claimed instances of sexual abuse from others). Her claims have evolved drastically over time. Newly for this lawsuit, they now include allegations of incidents where Sam was over 18.Sam Altman has long been estranged from his sister, according to a 2023 profile of the OpenAI CEO in New York Magazine. While Altman frequently talks about his brothers, who are themselves tech entrepreneurs and investors, he rarely mentions his sister publicly. At one point, per the New York Magazine profile, Annie asked him to repost her podcast, a request that Sam refused. The piece separately noted that Altman has repeatedly tried to offer Annie money, gifts, and even to buy her a house. The profile piece echoes some of the concerns around Annies mental health that Altman described in his response to her accusations on Tuesday. It describes Annie as having an unstable personal life, noting that she once moved 20 times in a single year. The death of their father, Jerry, in 2018 was apparently a tipping point for Annies mental health.
