Hovering over the value will show all dimensions precisely.Texel density is shown in pixels per centimeter, but if you hover over the value it will also show a precise pixels per meter value as well if thats more your style.Polycount is just triangles before any subdivisions.Modular buildingshttps://polyhaven.com/models/structures/buildingsJames started working on a set of modular urban buildings during the Hidden Alley community project, but decided they needed a bit more attention after the alley was completed rather than trying to rush them in for the release of that collection, or make our awesome community wait even longer for their assets to be published.This is one of our first forays into modular environment assets, so wed love some feedback on their usability and design if you have any Plans to support geometry nodesOne of our long-standing issues, and complaints we get fairly regularly, is that our tree assets are not very compatible with non-Blender software.One of the issues comes from the fact that our FBX exports are fully automated, and dont work well for geometry nodes necessarily, and in this case results in the leaves going missing. We have an FAQ item about them and everything.But its not just limited to FBX, some Blender users just want a static tree mesh that doesnt have any complex controls and performance implications. This is particularly the case in Blenders asset browser: often users dont want any kind of baggage attached to the asset, they expect a single simple tree to appear when they drag it in.To address these problems, weve come up with the following solution:Models that use geometry nodes will have two variants inside their Blend file:The original generator that is used to create and customize the model.A static version that is baked down with all modifiers applied, ready to export to FBX, or simply used in Blender.Both these versions will be marked as assets in our add-on so that they appear in the asset browser despite coming from the same Blend file.Another example is grass: Sometimes you just want one small tuft of grass to place manually and accent your scene, but sometimes you expect to drag the asset onto a ground plane and automatically scatter the grass instances across the mesh. Both of these could be accomplished by simply organizing the file well and marking the appropriate datablock as an asset.This needs to be handled on a case-by-case basis, so itll take some time for us to investigate each of them, come up with some consistent standards, and update our assets to comply.API licensingThe Poly Haven API is now generally available and free to use for non-commercial and academic purposes.The API is simply a way for developers to access our assets with code, downloading what they need in the formats and variants they require, and also includes all the metadata like tags, categories, and polycounts. This is used for example in our Blender add-on to download assets directly in Blender as needed.Previously, we made the API public but did not formally specify how anyone was allowed to use it. This led to some great tools like a Houdini plugin and some AI model training, however, it also led to what we consider abuse of our CC0 assets for selfish gain users essentially cloning our website and placing ads everywhere, hijacking our old names (and even Patreon accounts) to build SEO reputation.We were also contacted by a number of studios and corporations that were interested in using the API but wanted some kind of guarantee of reliability and consistency.For these reasons, we decided to add a formal Terms of Service for the API and define what were comfortable with and what developers can expect from us.Anyone wanting to use the API for commercial purposes will need to contact us to request permission (and a quote) to ensure we can cater to them sustainably. Intel has warned that granting the US government an equity stake could subject the company to additional regulations, obligations or restrictions in foreign markets and limit its ability to pursue strategic transactions that are beneficial to shareholders.The chipmaker disclosed significant uncertainties about the government equity deal in an SEC filing on Tuesday, revealing concerns that werent addressed in last weeks announcement of the 10% stake by the Trump administration.[ Related:More Intel news and insights]Given the scarcity of recent US precedents for transactions such as those contemplated by the Purchase Agreement and of the US Government becoming a significant stockholder of a company like the Company, it is difficult to foresee all the potential consequences, Intel stated in the filing.Enterprise procurement calculus disruptedThe risk disclosures fundamentally alter how enterprises must evaluate Intel as a supplier, particularly for multinational organizations. Intel warned that having the US government as a significant stockholder could subject the Company to additional regulations, obligations or restrictions, such as foreign subsidy laws or otherwise, in other countries, according to the SEC filing.Intels disclosure that government ownership could trigger restrictions under foreign subsidy laws disrupts the procurement calculus that enterprises have relied on for decades, said Sanchit Vir Gogia, chief analyst and CEO at Greyhound Research. What was once framed purely around cost, performance, and roadmap alignment must now include geopolitical risk and compliance exposure.The implications are particularly acute for international markets. Intel noted that sales outside the US accounted for 76% of the Companys revenue for the fiscal year ended December 28, 2024.Neil Shah, VP for research at Counterpoint Research, warned this creates significant exposure: The biggest hit, however, is likely to be in China, one of Intels largest markets, where this could fuel concerns about scrutiny and sanctions similar to those faced by Huawei.Strategic flexibility constraintsIntel disclosed that the government investment could severely limit its business agility. The company warned that the arrangement may substantially limit the Companys ability to pursue potential future strategic transactions that may be beneficial to stockholders, including by potentially limiting the willingness of other third parties to engage in such potential strategic transactions.This constraint represents a fundamental shift for enterprises that have relied on Intels strategic adaptability.Historically, Intels agility in plugging gaps, whether through acquisitions of smaller firms or strategic divestitures, has been a hallmark of its ecosystem leadership, Gogia explained. That flexibility now comes under constraint.The broader competitive implications could reshape enterprise procurement strategies. Shah suggested this may give an advantage to rivals such as AMD, Qualcomm, and MediaTek, as well as catalyze growth of local Chinese semiconductor players as enterprises seek to diversify their supplier base.Financial uncertainty and governance changesIntels financial transparency concerns extend beyond international complications. The company revealed significant uncertainty about the deals impact, stating the financial, tax and accounting impacts of the transactions are being evaluated and are uncertain, with potential for additional costs or losses, that may materially impact the Companys reported financial results in future periods.This opacity creates new procurement challenges. Intel itself concedes that unknown costs, dilution, or tax obligations could materially impact its results, Gogia noted. For CIOs and CFOs signing multi-year contracts, this disrupts the calculus of long-term vendor predictability.The government equity position also reduces shareholder governance rights. While the Department of Commerce must vote its shares as recommended by Intels board in most cases, the filing noted this will reduce the voting influence of other stockholders with respect to the selection of directors of the Company and proposals voted on by stockholders.Gogia emphasized the broader governance implications. Intel has become a hybrid category player: part private enterprise, part instrument of US industrial strategy. That dual role delivers resilience, but it also introduces constraint. R&amp;D agendas and capital allocation will be increasingly influenced by defence, manufacturing, and sovereignty imperatives, Gogia said.Political and legal uncertaintiesBeyond commercial considerations, Intel disclosed substantial political risks that could affect enterprise customers. The company warned that the legislative, judicial or executive branches of the US government could determine in the future that all or a portion of the transactions were unauthorized, void or voidable.The filing noted that enforcement against a government counterparty is inherently uncertain given the defenses available to the US Government, creating potential challenges if disputes arise. Intel also flagged risks from changes in laws, regulations, or their interpretations, as well as shifts in federal administration and congressional priorities.These uncertainties create what Shah described as a fundamental shift in Intels market position: The government backing makes Intel a politically sensitive supplier. This poses significant risks, particularly for enterprises outside the US.Navigating Intels new risk profileGiven these political sensitivities and regulatory uncertainties, enterprises face the challenge of developing new approaches for managing Intel as a supplier that traditional vendor assessment frameworks werent designed to handle.The financial uncertainty Intel disclosed creates immediate contractual implications. With the company admitting it cannot quantify the deals financial impact, procurement teams face unusual transparency gaps.Enterprises must now insist on price protections, indemnities, and exit rights, recognising that Intels financial model is unsettled and its commercial freedom constrained by its hybrid role, Gogia said.The broader strategic risk drives many enterprises toward supply chain diversification as a defensive strategy. Neil Shah noted that Intels political transformation creates an untenable position for many organizations. The uncertainty surrounding Intels long-term strategic direction puts many enterprises and IT decision-makers in a difficult position. De-selecting or diversifying their supply chain would be the only way to de-risk, Gogia added. While the governments protection may ensure Intels survival in the short term, its long-term potential as a trusted, neutral global supplier becomes far more uncertain.
