  • Americans Think This Random Canadian Guy Is the CEO of RedNote
    gizmodo.com
By Matt Novak Published January 15, 2025 | Comments (1) | The RedNote logo appears on a smartphone screen, and the TikTok logo appears on a computer screen as the background in this photo illustration. Photo Illustration by Nikolas Kokovlis/NurPhoto via Getty Images At least 700,000 TikTok users in the U.S. have jumped ship to a Chinese-owned app called Xiaohongshu, or RedNote in English, according to the Guardian, as the U.S. government stands ready to ban TikTok starting Sunday. But if youre seeing videos about a CEO of RedNote who tells you how to use the platform, dont be fooled. Some guy went viral this week for his welcome video on RedNote but people seemed to think hes the head of the company. The video was even featured on local TV news in New York. But its just some random RedNote user from Canada. The video, posted earlier this week, features a man sitting at a table who says he wanted to make a quick video about Xiaohongshu introducing you guys to this platform. So tip number one, we mainly use this platform for searching for suggestions such as for restaurants, such as for shopping malls, even for like make-up tips, the man says. To be clear, he never claims to be the CEO of RedNote in the video and its hard to see why people assumed that. The video goes on to explain that most people on RedNote speak Chinese, but you should feel free to speak English if you like.I want to say, never stop sharing your voice because a platform such as Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok, YouTube, Xiaohongshu should never be banned, the man says. Like people sharing their actual voice there like about wildfire in L.A., about Gaza, and a lot other things, right? The man continued by emphasizing that its important to keep making content on social media platforms. These are real peoples voice. What matters more is that we never stop making content. So yeah, welcome to Xiaohongshu. Let me know what your thoughts, let me know what are interested in. I speak both Chinese and English so like feel free to ask me any questions. The video is pleasant and perhaps it was so straightforward that it gave an air of authority, like something a tech CEO might post, but hes not the CEO. RedNote was actually co-founded in Shanghai in 2013 by Miranda Qu, the platforms current president, and Charlwin Mao, the current CEO, according to Reuters. Local TV news station Fox5 in New York ran a segment that ended with a claim that RedNotes CEO had sent out a welcome video. But it was clear from the way it was described that the news outlet had been fooled. Now, Americans on RedNote have jokingly been referring to themselves as TikTok refugees, reporter Jennifer William said in a broadcast on Monday. The CEO of RedNote even made a video welcoming new users who speak English to the app. And he also encouraged them to never stop sharing their voice. The voice and all that data, the anchor responded with a laugh. Who is this guy everyone is mistaking for the CEO? His name is Jerry and he shares a RedNote account with his partner Dani, according to Business Insider. Jerry actually lives in Vancouver, Canada and by all indications has no real idea why everyone thought he was the CEO of RedNote. He even posted a video on a new account created for TikTok, FakeCEORealGF in an effort to make it clear to other people that he doesnt control RedNote. Im just another normal guy in Vancouver, Jerry said. I didnt expect this post to go viral like this. And thank you for all the comments, but I want to clarify that Im not the CEO of RedNote. But whatever I said in that welcoming video stays true. I really hope you guys can enjoy this platform.Jerry says in the video that he grew up in Shanghai and came to Canada about a decade ago, while Dani says shes Chinese and grew up in California before moving to Canada. @fakeceorealgf Hey guys! Its really us we woke up to find that apparently Jerry went viral as the accidental CEO of red note so we recorded this reaction/clarification video to diffuse the confusion He is flattered but also very embarrassed by how this misunderstanding came about. We decided to reupload this video natively on TikTok (this is our only account) to spread the word if you see this video, please help us share it for the people From Jerry: I stand by what I saw in my original welcome video. For all the TikTok refugees coming over to Red Note, we stand with you all to make your voice heard! I am flattered by all the kind and polite comments and hope the TikTok refugees find a new home and friends to discover a new side of Chinese culture and community #rednote #rednoteceo #tiktokrefugee #xiaohongshu #xhs #littleredbook #redbook #rednotemigration #rednotewelcome #accidentalceo #tiktok #china original sound FakeCEORealGF The U.S. ban on TikTok is scheduled for Jan. 19, the day before Donald Trump is inaugurated, but the U.S. Supreme Court is expected to weigh in before that actually happens. Most court watchers believe that based on the oral arguments made last week, SCOTUS will rule against TikTok and allow the ban to come into effect. But nobody knows for certain until we get a ruling. And we dont know exactly when that might come. It could be tomorrow or it could be over the weekend right at the last minute, for all we know. In the meantime, hundreds of thousands of Americans are giving RedNote a shot as one big fuck-you to the U.S. government. TikTok users really dont like the idea of being told they cant use an app they love and migrating to apps owned by people like Mark Zuckerberg is extremely unpalatable for those who see the Meta CEO as an ally of Trump. But U.S. politicians are clearly uneasy about the pivot to RedNote. Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia, a Democrat, expressed his frustration with the surge in RedNote sign-ups in a post on Bluesky. Im concerned that Americans are flocking to a number of adversary-owned social media platforms. We still need a comprehensive and risk-based approach to assessing and mitigating the risks of foreign-owned apps, Warner wrote Tuesday. But the American ruling class is going to need to get used to Americans not just rolling over when their favorite toys get taken away. Because they can claim that China threatens the way of life America holds dear all day long. But that way of life is looking increasingly desperate and fraught, between the cost of living and the fact a convicted criminal is about to become the most powerful person in the country. Again. The most powerful person in the country again.Daily NewsletterYou May Also Like By Thomas Maxwell Published January 15, 2025 By Matt Novak Published January 14, 2025 By Thomas Maxwell Published January 14, 2025 By AJ Dellinger Published January 13, 2025 By Todd Feathers Published January 10, 2025 By Todd Feathers Published January 6, 2025

Since 1919, Sociedade de Cultura Artstica has cherished the dream of having its own theater. Designed in 1942 by architects Rino Levi, Roberto Cerqueira Cesar, and F. Pestalozzi, the TEATRO CULTURA ARTSTICA was built between 1947 and 1949. The inauguration, held on the evenings of March 8 and 9, 1950, was marked by two extraordinary concerts conducted by Heitor Villa-Lobos and Camargo Guarnieri, prepared specifically for the occasion. These concerts celebrated the opening of what was then one of the largest and most modern cultural complexes in Latin America. Initially, the auditorium had 1,500 seats arranged in a wide fan shape, with a double rear wall to shield the interior from external noise. The visibility and acoustics had been carefully studied, providing excellent conditions.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture! The exterior wall featured a large mural selected through a competition involving painter Emiliano Di Cavalcanti, who was chosen, along with landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx and architect Jacob Ruchti. Spanning the entire faade, the mural was executed with glass tesserae by Vidrotil, measuring 48 meters by 8 meters in height. The theme depicted female figures, allegories of theater, such as dance, music, comedy, drama, and opera. Due to its architectural and cultural significance, the building was listed as a heritage site at federal, state, and municipal levels. On the early morning of Sunday, August 8, 2008, the theater was almost entirely destroyed by a fire, leaving only the lower and upper foyers and the magnificent mural intact. The board of the Sociedade de Cultura Artstica decided that the new theater would be built in the same location. The adopted plan preserved and restored the front areas, which were separated from the auditorium by fire doors. The performance halls, circulation areas, and support facilities were redesigned according to the most modern standards of technology, acoustics, and safety. The ground floor and first-floor communal areas are open to the public during the day, featuring a new bookstore and caf, along with an educational program that the institution has developed over the years, now supported by an excellent infrastructure.Save this picture!Save this picture! The building is designed to keep the block vibrant, even during non-performance hours, with the transparent faade creating a connection between the interior and the street, inviting pedestrians into this universe of art and culture. Di Cavalcanti's mural is now accompanied by tapestries by the artist Sandra Cinto, framing the new atrium connected to Praa Roosevelt. The main hall is designed to host a varied and intimate musical program. The stage is surrounded by the audience, allowing acoustics to reach them clearly and directly. With 750 seats400 in the stalls and 350 on the balconythe hall accommodates performances with the quality that has made Cultura Artstica an international reference. Sandra Cinto's artwork adds warmth and charm to the environment, inviting spectators to be "transported by music" through its curves, carefully designed in collaboration with acoustic designers to enhance sound reflection.Save this picture!Project gallerySee allShow lessProject locationAddress:Consolao, So Paulo, BrazilLocation to be used only as a reference. • This Iron Age Society Had a Strong Female-Line Descent A First for Early Europe

(Credit: Bournemouth University)Excavating a Late Iron Age Durotriges burial at Winterborne Kingston (c) Bournemouth University.NewsletterSign up for our email newsletter for the latest science newsNew findings published in the journal Nature suggest that women were at the top of British Iron Age societies. After examining ancient genomes uncovered in a cemetery in Dorset, an international research team determined that this community had a strong female-line descent, which may be a first for early Europe.Uncovering Ancient GenomesDurotrigian burial of a young woman from Langton Herring sampled for DNA (c) Bournemouth University. She was buried with a mirror (right panels) and jewellery, including a Roman coin amulet showing a female charioteer representing Victory.jpg (Credit: Bournemouth University.)The research team geneticists, led by Trinity College Dublin and archeologists from Bournemouth University examined remains from Iron Age era burial grounds in Dorset, England, that were used before and after the Roman Conquest in 43 A.D. The team sequenced 50 genomes from this single community and determined that the female lineage was dominant. This was the cemetery of a large kin group," said Lara Cassidy, assistant professor in Trinitys Department of Genetics and lead author of the study, in a press release. We reconstructed a family tree with many different branches and found most members traced their maternal lineage back to a single woman, who would have lived centuries before. In contrast, relationships through the fathers line were almost absent. The findings suggest that this community likely lived in a social system called a matrilocality. This tells us that husbands moved to join their wives communities upon marriage, with land potentially passed down through the female line, said Cassidy in a press release. This is the first time this type of system has been documented in European prehistory, and it predicts female social and political empowerment. Its relatively rare in modern societies, but this might not always have been the case.Comparing Data in the Iron AgeLooking further into the data collected in Dorset, the research team decided to compare genetic findings from other Iron Age cemeteries, and though there wasnt an abundance of data, the team did notice the same thing: strong female lineage.Across Britain, we saw cemeteries where most individuals were maternally descended from a small set of female ancestors, said Dan Bradley, professor of population genetics in Trinitys Department of Genetics, in a press release. In Yorkshire, for example, one dominant matriline had been established before 400 B.C. To our surprise, this was a widespread phenomenon with deep roots on the island.Iron Age cemeteries, especially in Britain, are often not well-preserved. However, thanks to the burial rituals of a community known as the Durotriges, researchers obtained this DNA and other genetic information. The archeology team from Bournemouth University has been excavating a site near Winterborne, Kingston, since 2009 and noticed that womens graves often had more decoration and furnishings. Both the genetic and archeological evidence may change our general understanding of Iron Age societies. When in RomeIts possible that this view of these ancient societies would not be such a surprise had it not been for the influence of Rome during the conquest. According to the study, the Romans found these matriarchal societies rather remarkable but may have written a skewed view of them to make the society seem less civilized.Beyond archaeology, knowledge of Iron Age Britain has come primarily from the Greek and Roman writers, but they are not always considered the most trustworthy, said Miles Russell, the excavations director and co-author on the study, in a press release. That said, their commentary on British women is remarkable in light of these findings. Its been suggested that the Romans exaggerated the liberties of British women to paint a picture of an untamed society. But archaeology, and now genetics, implies women were influential in many spheres of Iron Age life. Indeed, it is possible that maternal ancestry was the primary shaper of group identities, says Russell. With this new evidence, the research team now has a better understanding of what this society was like: a society with a deep respect for its ancestry and its leaders. Learn more Tony WareFew upgrades have the same kind of tangible effect on your homes experience as a tankless water heater. These appliances provide a constant stream of hot water without relying on a bulky, problem-prone tank. That typically translates into less maintenance, fewer floods, and no more running out of hot water mid-shower. Weve chosen the Rinnai RU199iN Tankless Water Heater as our best overall pick for its versatility, efficiency, and sparkling reputation with pro installers. Keep reading for the rest of our picks to match just about any space or budget.Best overall: Rinnai RU199iN Tankless Water HeaterBest value: Ecosmart ECO 24 Tankless Water HeaterBest electric: Stiebel Eltron Tankless Water HeaterBest gas: Rheem Prestige Tankless Water HeaterBest propane: Rinnai V53DeP Tankless Water HeaterHow we chose the best tankless water heatersSelecting the best tankless water heaters required extensive research into a variety of products before paring down the list to these top tankless water heaters. It was necessary to scrutinize each potential option by considering the key factors important for a tankless water heater, including the fuel type, size, flow rate, and the number of fixtures each product can supply simultaneously.Gas tankless water heaters offer the most power but tend to be the most expensive to purchase and install. However, electric water heaters will typically cost more in energy bills, so there is some tradeoff over time. With this in mind, the list includes natural gas, propane, and electric models to offer a variety of top options. Flow rate, when compared to temperature rise, was another key consideration. While many manufacturers state the maximum flow rate, this specification is really only useful in areas with the highest groundwater temperature. Instead, it was necessary to note the maximum and minimum flow rates based on the potential groundwater temperatures to compare products accurately. Only after researching and comparing these product specifications was it possible to create this list of the best tankless water heaters. The best tankless water heaters: Reviews & RecommendationsThis list was compiled after extensive research into the fuel type, flow rate, size, and the number of fixtures to which each tankless water heater can supply hot water simultaneously. Look at this list of the best tankless water heaters to find an appliance suitable for the home.Best overall: Rinnai RU199iN Tankless Water HeaterRinnai ProsCan be paired with a WiFi module or an external pump for enhanced operationHigh maximum output of 11 gallons per minuteCapable of supplying up to seven fixtures simultaneouslyDurable design can last for 20 yearsConsWiFi module and the external pump for recirculation are sold separatelyWhy it made the cut: The powerful 11 GPM flow rate is more than enough for most four- to six-person families.SpecsFuel Type: Natural gasMax flow rate: 11 GPMMin flow rate: 7 GPMDimensions: 14.76Dx22.05Wx33.86HNumber of fixtures: 2 to 7Price: $1,384Natural gas tankless water heaters are generally considered the best option for medium- to large-size families because these appliances typically have a higher heat output, allowing them to heat more water at a faster rate. For instance, this tankless water heater by Rinnai can heat 11 gallons of water per minute, making it an ideal option for big families or areas with low groundwater temperatures, like Montanna or Minnesota. The tankless water is compatible with Rinnais WiFi module, making it easier for users to closely monitor the temperature, power output, and energy consumption. This product can also connect to an external pump to reduce the wait time for hot water through scheduled or on-demand recirculation. However, its necessary to note that both the WiFi module and the external pump are sold separately, so these features are only available with an additional purchase.Even without the WiFi module or external pump, this tankless water heater can simultaneously supply hot water to up to seven fixtures, ensuring everyone gets ready on time during the morning rush to school and work. Additionally, this tankless heater by Rinnai can last up to 20 years with proper inspection and maintenance before the homeowner needs to consider replacing or upgrading the appliance.Best value: Ecosmart ECO 24 Tankless Water HeaterProsCompact size doesnt take up a lot of spaceAffordable purchase priceIdeal for small homes with one or two peopleFlow sensor modulates energy consumption to meet hot water demandsConsRequires three 40-amp double pole breakersOnly supplies one to two fixtures simultaneouslyWhy it made the cut: Homeowners on a budget can still upgrade from an old tank-style water heater with this affordable appliance by Ecosmart.SpecsFuel Type: ElectricMax flow rate: 5 GPMMin flow rate: 2 GPMDimensions: 3.75Dx17Wx17HNumber of fixtures: 1 to 2Price: $528One of the first decisions to make when deciding on a new tankless water heater is whether it would be best to have a gas, propane, or electric model. This electric tankless water heater by Ecosmart is a great option for homeowners who want to switch from an old tank-style water heater but may not have a large enough budget to afford a gas tankless water heater.Beyond the affordable price, this tankless water heater has a built-in flow sensor that will automatically modulate the energy consumption to ensure the water doesnt get cold in the middle of a shower. Its a good choice for individuals who live independently or in homes with two people, though it does not have a high enough flow rate for medium- to large-size families. Also, the electric tankless water heater requires three 40-amp double pole breakers for installation, so its recommended to consult with an electrician to ensure the home is equipped for this appliance.Best electric: Stiebel Eltron Tankless Water HeaterProsAdvanced Flow Control optimizes output for ideal heatingSelf-modulation technology ensures the least amount of energy is used for operationEasy-to-read digital control panelNear-silent operationConsNot intended for homes with four or more peopleWhy it made the cut: Equipped with flow control and self-modulation technology, this tankless water heater offers superior user convenience and high energy efficiency.SpecsFuel Type: ElectricMax flow rate: 7 GPMMin flow rate: 3.8 GPMDimensions: 4.63Dx16.63Wx14.5HNumber of fixtures: 1 to 3Price: $675Electric tankless water heaters, like this high-efficiency model by Stiebel Eltron, operate at a near-silent noise level, so they can be installed close to a common area without disrupting social gatherings. This tankless water heater comes equipped with Stiebel Eltrons Advanced Flow Control technology, allowing it to automatically reduce the water pressure if it detects that the demand is greater than it can handle. This allows the water heater to ensure the water temperature remains the same despite the high demand. The tankless water heater also features a simple, easy-to-use digital control panel and built-in self-modulation technology. The self-modulation feature allows the tankless water heater to control the energy output so that the tankless water heater operates as efficiently as possible. Just remember that this unit is unsuitable for larger families due to the low max flow rate.Best gas: Rheem Prestige Tankless Water HeaterProsSpace-saving designSuitable for small- to medium-size familiesBuilt-in water and gas leak detection systemDigital remote thermostat for easy operationConsRequires venting to the outside of the homeWhy it made the cut: This tankless water heater is designed with a built-in water and gas leak detection system to help protect the home in the case of an emergency.SpecsFuel Type: Natural gasMax flow rate: 8.4 GPMMin flow rate: 3 GPMDimensions: 9.8Dx18.5Wx27.5HNumber of fixtures: 2 to 5Price: $1,366Investing in a gas tankless water heater is a good idea that can help save on energy bills and cut down on wasteful spending. Instead of relying on a tank-style water heater that will continuously heat the contents of the tank, regardless of whether the water is in use, homeowners can switch to this tankless model, which heats up to 8.4 GPM of water on demand. This Rheem Prestige tankless water heater runs on natural gas, so during the initial installation, the plumber will need to run venting to the outside to ensure that the exhaust does not build up inside the home. After installing the unit, the built-in water and gas leak detection system will monitor the tankless water heater and shut down the unit if it detects a leak. Additionally, the system will display an error code to indicate the problem so the homeowner can take the necessary steps to resolve the issue.Best propane: Rinnai V53DeP Tankless Water HeaterProsDesigned for installation outdoorsDurable construction can last for up to 20 yearsEnhanced scale detection feature reduces the risk of internal damageOutdoor installation does not require ventingConsOnly supplies one to two fixtures simultaneouslyWhy it made the cut: Install this propane tankless water heater outside for the pool, spa, or even an outdoor kitchen.SpecsFuel Type: PropaneMax flow rate: 5.6 GPMMin flow rate: 3 GPMDimensions: 7.9Dx14Wx19.8HNumber of fixtures: 1 to 2Price: $602When most people invest in a tankless water heater, they tend to go with either a natural gas or an electric model, but there are also propane tankless water heaters, like this product from Rinnai. The tankless water heater can connect to a -inch propane line for fuel and is designed for outdoor installation, making it a great option to get hot water to the pool, spa, or outdoor kitchen. This tankless water heater has a durable body and internal components that can last 20 years with proper maintenance. Rinnai has included an enhanced scale detection system to protect further the unit that indicates when limescale begins to build inside the appliance. This notification allows users to contact a plumber to flush the system and keep it functioning for years to come. However, its important to note that the tankless water heater can only supply one to two fixtures simultaneously, so its not the best option for larger households. What to consider when buying the best tankless water heatersBefore purchasing a new tankless water heater for the home, its recommended to familiarize yourself with some of the more important product factors, including the type of fuel, the size, and the flow rate. Its also a good idea to learn how temperature rise can affect the units performance.Fuel typeThere are three types of tankless water heaters, differentiated from each other based on the fuel or energy source:Electric tankless water heaters are generally the least expensive option to purchase and install, though electricity costs are higher than natural gas or propane. This type of tankless water heater is typically used for homes with small- to medium-sized families that dont require a high flow rate.Natural gas tankless water heaters are the most common option for medium- to large-size families because they tend to have a higher flow rate, allowing these appliances to supply several fixtures with hot water simultaneously. However, natural gas tankless water heaters cost more upfront and typically require venting, which increases the installation cost.Propane tankless water heaters are less common than electric or natural gas units, but these appliances can be effective for small homes or point-of-use installations. The drawback with propane units is that the homeowner or user needs to purchase or refill propane tanks for operation regularly. But, hey, if youve got one of the best propane grills, this isnt a new phenomenon for you.SizeOne of the main benefits of having a tankless water heater is that they are significantly smaller than traditional tank-style water heaters. However, its still important to consider each units depth, width, and height to ensure that the tankless water heater will fit in the planned space. Electric tankless water heaters tend to take up less room than natural gas or propane products, so they are generally the best choice for smaller homes without a lot of free space. However, its worth noting that some tankless water heaters can be installed outside, so it may be more beneficial to opt for an outdoor installation if there isnt a lot of space inside. Just make sure that the tankless water heater isnt too bulky or too heavy to mount in the designated location, and leave space for water lines, electrical connections, and gas vents.Flow rateThe flow rate of the tankless water heater refers to the amount of water the appliance can heat within a specific amount of time. Generally, the flow rate is measured in gallons per minute (GPM). Powerful gas tankless water heaters can often produce over 10 gallons of hot water each minute of operation, though this may not be required for smaller homes. To determine the most suitable flow rate for the household, you will need to consider the various fixtures and appliances that may require hot water. Faucets typically require about 0.5 GPM, dishwashers require 1 GPM, washing machines need 1.5 GPM, and showers need 2 to 2.5 GPM. If you want to run the washing machine while in the shower, the tankless water heater will need a flow rate of at least 4 GPM.Temperature riseAn aspect often overlooked when researching tankless water heaters is that the flow rate depends on the local groundwaters temperature. The colder the groundwater, the more energy the tankless water heater requires to heat the water to the desired temperature. Temperature rise is the term used to indicate the difference between local groundwater temperatures and the desired hot water temperature.Large temperature rises, such as 40 degrees to 120 degrees Fahrenheit, will require more time and energy than a smaller temperature rise of 70 degrees to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Due to the higher energy cost, tankless water heaters will have a lower flow rate in areas with low groundwater temperatures. Before purchasing a tankless water heater, check the average groundwater temperature in the area to ensure you purchase a model with a high enough flow rate to overcome the temperature rise.FAQsQ: What size tankless water heater do I need for a family of 4? To ensure that there is enough hot water for multiple fixtures to operate normally at the same time, its recommended for a family of four to have a tankless water heater with a flow rate that falls between six to eight gallons per minute. Q: How long can you run a tankless water heater? As long as the demand for hot water does not exceed the maximum flow rate of the tankless water heater, you can hypothetically run it for an indefinite period. Just keep in mind that the more fixtures simultaneously using water, the less effective the tankless water heater will be. Q: How long do tankless water heaters last? When a tankless water heater is properly inspected and maintained throughout its life, it can last for up to 20 years, while a standard tank-style water heater will typically only last between eight to 12 years. Final thoughts on the best tankless water heatersBest overall: Rinnai RU199iN Tankless Water HeaterBest value: Ecosmart ECO 24 Tankless Water HeaterBest electric: Stiebel Eltron Tankless Water HeaterBest gas: Rheem Prestige Tankless Water HeaterBest propane: Rinnai V53DeP Tankless Water HeaterReplacing an old tank-style water heater with a new tankless model is one of the most straightforward ways to cut down on energy costs because the tankless water heater will only operate when there is a need for hot water. When the water is not in use, the unit only uses enough electricity to remain on, reducing the energy consumption for the household. However, its important to consider the number of people in the home, as well as the geographic location, to find a tankless water heater with a high enough flow rate to ensure that there will always be hot water on demand. With this in mind, carefully consider product specifications and use this information to find the best tankless water heater for your home.

  • Madden 25's Newest Battle Pass Is A Confusing Unforced Error
    www.gamespot.com
Madden NFL is touted as having new and exciting presentation elements with every new installment in the series. These elements, such as commentary, field-level camera work, and halftime shows, are inconsistent at best and tend to leave a lot to be desired, especially when you compare them to the same aspects of games like NBA 2K and MLB The Show. But the latest presentation gaffe in Madden 25 feels like a strangely unforced error. In the most recent patch, the EA Orlando team introduced the Team Pass, a new battle pass-like cosmetic rewards tree that offers both free and paid unlockables that amount to player banner customization options. You can unlock things like profile pictures, backgrounds, and borders, just like you can in Call of Duty or many other games. These cosmetics are all centered around one particular team of a player's choosing and are meant to be proudly displayed in-game.In practice, this means the scorebug in any game replaces the logo of the team you're playing as with imagery based on the team you chose in the Team Pass. This is a reasonably innocuous feature for game modes like the arcadey Superstar Showdown and the fantasy-sports-inspired Ultimate Team (MUT). However, forcing this cosmetic change in Franchise mode quickly becomes an eyesore given players are tied to the hip with one particular team--and not necessarily the same team as that in their Team Pass--and are much more likely to be interested in simulating the product they see on TV.Continue Reading at GameSpot
