WWW.NATURE.COMA map of parental-DNA exchanges charts course for studies of human evolutionNature, Published online: 22 January 2025; doi:10.1038/d41586-025-00098-zHuman genetic diversity and evolution rely on new mutations and exchange of DNA between chromosomes during the generation of sex cells, in a process called recombination. Recombination manifests as large-scale crossovers, and as short-scale transitions called non-crossovers. A map of where recombination occurs throughout the human genome now includes both types of variation.0 Kommentare 0 Anteile

WWW.GAMESPOT.COMLego's 1,872-Piece Back To The Future DeLorean Gets Limited-Time Deal At AmazonLego Icons: Back to the Future DeLorean Time Machine (1,872 Pieces) $163 (was $200) See at Amazon See at Walmart See at Target Back to the Future: The Ultimate Trilogy on 4K Blu-ray $35 (was $56) See at Amazon Back to the Future: The Complete Adventures on Blu-ray $47 (was $80) See at Amazon Lego's 1,872-piece Back to the Future time machine is on sale for $163 at Amazon, Walmart, and Target. Normally $200 and labeled "hard to find" by Lego--the large-scale building set is on backorder on Lego's site at full price--fans can piece together an impressively authentic model of the iconic DeLorean time machine from the film trilogy. At the time of writing, Amazon was nearly sold out of this deal. Since Amazon and Walmart often mirror the other's Lego deals, once Amazon runs out, it's possible Walmart's deal will disappear, too. Lego Icons: Back to the Future DeLorean Time Machine (1,872 Pieces) $163 (was $200) Inside the box, you'll find 1,872 pieces that can be used to construct Doc Brown's improbable time machine. Lego designed the Back to the Future time machine build as a 3-in-1, allowing fans to choose which of the three iterations of the famous vehicle to construct. The car is full of screen-accurate details, like working gull-wing doors, a lightning rod for when you need 1.21 gigawatts of power, and a detailed interior. There's even a flux capacitor light brick, an optional Mr. Fusion energy reactor and fold-up wheels for when you want to put the car in hover-mode, and several other extra parts to replicate its look from Back to the Future 3. You'll also get two minifigures of Doc Brown and Marty McFly.To be clear, you can only build and display one edition of the DeLorean, but Lego's choice-based builds are cool because you can revisit, partially deconstruct, and modify with the alternative building guide to create a fresh look for your display shelf. Of course, you could buy three Lego DeLorean sets to remove the need to choose. See at Amazon See at Walmart See at Target Back to the Future: The Ultimate Trilogy on 4K Blu-ray $35 (was $56) If you want to watch the films while you build the DeLorean, Amazon is offering Back to the Future: The Ultimate Trilogy 4K box set for only $35 (was $56). This is the 2024 printing of the collection, so the voucher for the digital editions of the trilogy is still active. The 4K set also includes standard 1080p Blu-ray discs. In case you don't have a 4K TV, you can get this same collection on 1080p Blu-ray for $20. Digital copies of the movies are included with this one, too.Back to the Future: Ultimate Collection (4K + Blu-ray + Digital) -- $35 ($56)Back to the Future: Ultimate Collection (Blu-ray + Digital) -- $20 ($40) See at Amazon Back to the Future: The Complete Adventures on Blu-ray $47 (was $80) If you feel like going all out, you can also check out Back to the Future: The Complete Adventures. This collector's edition gets you all three movies on standard Blu-ray, the complete animated series, and it comes with a cool 64-page art book. If you already have the movies but you just want the animated series, a DVD box set is available for just $14.79. See at Amazon0 Kommentare 0 Anteile

WWW.GAMESPOT.COMPokemon TCG Pocket Player Has Spent A Ludicrous Amount Of Money On The GamePokemon Trading Card Game Pocket has been a mobile phenom since it launched at the end of last October. The game invites players to spend real money on virtual Pokemon cards, although Pokemon TCG Pocket can also be played for free. However, at least one player has thrown the maximum amount of money at the game since its debut, and the result is an astounding collection of cards. As reported by Automaton, Japanese player Hajimesyacho has disclosed that they spent the daily limit on Pokemon TCG Pocket between October 30, 2024 and January 19, which led to over 50,000 cards in their virtual collection. 5wwwww# pic.twitter.com/KdbZH61iUX (hajime) (@hajimesyacho) January 19, 2025 There is apparently a daily limit for spending real money in Pokemon TCG Pocket, which is approximately 14,000 yen/$120. If Hajimeshacho reached that limit from October 30-January 19, then he spent around 1.12 million yen/$7,155. That's a lot of money to invest in anything, much less virtual cards that don't exist on paper. Regardless, Hajimeshacho seems happy, and that's really all that matters.Continue Reading at GameSpot0 Kommentare 0 Anteile

GAMERANT.COMResident Evil: Characters Who Hate Wesker The MostWhile there have been several antagonists throughout the Resident Evil games, by far the most recognizable is Albert Wesker. Wesker has proven to be a pretty despicable and ruthless individual during his many appearances in the series and has gained such an infamous reputation that even those characters who have never met him are well aware of who he is, and why he is considered so dangerous.0 Kommentare 0 Anteile

LIFEHACKER.COMMy Favorite Amazon Deal of the Day: The Google Pixel 8aWe may earn a commission from links on this page. Deal pricing and availability subject to change after time of publication. The new Pixel 9 lineup launched last summer, bringing with them a drop in prices for the Pixel 8 lineup. Amazon is currently offering the Pixel 8 Pro for $599, but if your budget is a bit tighter, the Pixel 8a is $399 (originally $499) after a $100 discount, matching its lowest price according to price-checking tools. This is a great value for a Google Pixel with the best Pixel features that will last for many years. Google Pixel 8a Unlocked Android Phone with Google AI, Advanced Pixel Camera and 24-Hour Battery - Bay - 128 GB $399.00 at Amazon $499.00 Save $100.00 Get Deal Get Deal $399.00 at Amazon $499.00 Save $100.00 The Pixel "a" series is the Pixel lineup's budget option. These devices tend to be missing some features of their pricier counterparts, but they often end up looking like a better value for the money, even if you have to wait for them: They are usually released much later than the Pixel 8/8 Pro, but the tradeoffs might be minimal. For example, the Pixel 8a was available to preorder last May, and the biggest "cut" from the Pixel 8/8 Pro was the camera. Here is what assistant tech editor Michelle Ehrhardt had to say about the differences between the two:The 8as camera is 64MP main wide/12MP ultrawide on the rear and 13MP on the front. By comparison, the regular Pixel 8 is 50MP main wide/12MP ultrawide on the rear and 10.5MP on the front. However, due to improved light sensing and pixel size, the Pixel 8s camera may be a better choice for some. The Pixel 8a has the same Tensor G3 processor as the Pixel 8/8 Pro, a slightly smaller 6.1-inch 120Hz Actual display, and a slightly better camera system in terms of pixels, but it may have weaker sensors. Still, the 8a is getting Google Gemini Nano support, like the other Pixels, along with seven years of guaranteed software support as well as the same new drop features. WWW.ENGADGET.COMHow to pre-order the new Samsung Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra smartphonesWe've finished up with CES and now Samsung Unpacked has arrived to bring us new Galaxy phones it must be January. Like last year at this time, the world has just been introduced to brand new set of Galaxy S-series phones: The flagship Galaxy S25, the slightly larger Galaxy S25+ and the high-end, S-Pen-equipped Galaxy S25 Ultra. Specs, features and shipping dates have all been confirmed, so if what you've seen has you considering a new smartphone for yourself, here's how to pre-order.As was suggested by a couple of leaks, the look of the Ultra is indeed a little different this year, with slightly more rounded corners after years of sporting a decidedly squared-off look. All three models will run on a customized Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset. The new processors were designed to double down on the AI skills Samsung introduced last year. The processors which Samsung is calling the most powerful ever used in a Galaxy device will allow more on-device handling of the AI functions inherent in the latest One UI 7 operating system. Getting at Google's Gemini is easier, too, with a side button that triggers the assistant. Other AI promises include a faster and more contextual Circle to Search function and a context-aware OS that makes it easier to switch between apps for follow up actions such as adding an event detailed in a picture to your calendar. The next generation of Samsung's AI-powered ProVisual Engine will help with mobile photography, enabling clearer low-light imaging, enhanced zoomed image quality and better color optimization. As for the cameras, those largely stay the same, except for a 50MP ultra wide lens on the S25 Ultra, up from a 12MP UW camera last year.Other changes to note include batteries with at least 50 percent recycled cobalt and more recycled materials in the frames and interior components. Every new S-series model will also get a promised seven years of OS and security updates.Pre-orders are open now and the phones will be widely available Friday, February 7. You can check out our comparison between the three models and we already have hands-on impressions with the Ultra model as well as the S25 and S25+. Our full reviews are coming soon. This article originally appeared on Engadget at https://www.engadget.com/mobile/smartphones/how-to-pre-order-the-new-samsung-galaxy-s25-galaxy-s25-and-galaxy-s25-ultra-smartphones-180021435.html?src=rss0 Kommentare 0 Anteile
