I initially tried to do it using a basic RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) approach but I found that it was not able to fetch the full context of information from the documents. It was either fetching incomplete tables or mixing up the information with text from another part of the documents.Since I was dealing with a lot of regulatory data, I needed something that would capture the complete context from the raw documents without adding any interpretations.Large language models are trained on a lot of generic data. We often want to augment that data with our own private and confidential data. RAG bridges this gap by integrating an our own datasets with the pre-trained models. RAG is widely used throughout industries for building tools, where users obtain information from a large corpus of data by conversing with it.Filings or drug dossiers are collections of documents submitted by pharmaceutical companies to regulatory Read the full blog for free on Medium.Join thousands of data leaders on the AI newsletter. • Star Wars Movie From Deadpool & Wolverine Director Could Star Ryan Gosling
    www.ign.com
Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy might finally be getting ready to go to a galaxy far, far away and he's bringing Ryan Gosling along for the ride. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Levy's Star Wars movie has entered negotiations with Ryan Gosling to star in the upcoming movie. Levy has been developing this Star Wars movie since 2022, with a script in the works since last year. Levy is once again collaborating with Jonathan Tropper who wrote the films This Is Where I Leave You and The Adam Project, both of which Levy directed.Details for the Levy Star Wars movie are, of course, secret with no word yet on who Gosling could be playing or even what era in the Star Wars history it's set in. The only details around the story that are known is that it is unrelated to the Skywalker Saga. The Hollywood Reporter also states that it's meant to be a standalone movie, so presumably it won't be a trilogy of films.Every Upcoming Star Wars Movie and TV ShowThe involvement of Ryan Gosling has also pushed the film forward. Levy was originally set to direct a boy band movie starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, but THR says if Gosling officially joins the film, then production on this Star Wars picture will move up and become Levy's next film, with production set to begin in the fall. Star Wars is currently in a transitional period at the moment. After the cancellation of The Acolyte, Disney Plus premiered its newest Star Wars show, Skeleton Crew, which just aired its final episode. On the movie side, Dave Filoni's The Mandalorian and Grogu movie wrapped production in December with plans to release on May 22, 2026. And there's a new trilogy of movies focused on Daisy Ridley's Rey from the sequel trilogy. No word yet one a release date for Levy's Star Wars movie if it indeed moves forward this year. • Truecaller brings real-time caller ID to iPhone users
    techcrunch.com
Popular caller ID app Truecaller has long left iPhone users at a disadvantage by not offering the caller information in real-time a feature its Android users have enjoyed for some time. Today, that changes as the company is rolling out an update that brings real-time caller ID support to its iOS subscribers. The company was able to implement the feature because Apple introduced Live Caller ID Lookup in iOS 18, allowing third-party caller ID apps to securely make a call to their server to get information about the caller. Notably, this is also the first major release from the Swedish company after the co-founders Alan Mamedi and Nami Zarringhalam stepped down from the day-to-day operations in November 2024.Today, Truecaller has more than 2.6 million paying subscribers, of which only around 750,000 of them are on iOS. However, 40% of Truecallers revenue is from iOS subscriptions. The company also gets a 5X conversation rate to its premium tier on iOS compared to Android as well as 80% higher revenue from an iPhone subscriber.Considering the importance of the iPhone to Truecallers bottom line, the company continues to develop its iOS app.In 2022, Truecaller relaunched the iOS app to focus on better spam detection, thanks to Apple allowing the app to store a larger set of numbers locally. It did improve the overall call identification. But that wasnt enough because in countries like India, there is a huge calling activity, and not all this would be available in the offline database, Truecaller Product Director Nakul Kabra told TechCrunch in an interview.India presents other challenges for the company, as well, including the arrival of a service, Calling Name Presentation (commonly called CNAP, designed to curb spam. The service, currently being rolled out by local telcos, could eventually emerge as a competitor to Truecaller. Truecaller also updated its iOS app in 2023 with a live caller ID experience, but that involved a step requiring interaction with Siri and also wasnt real-time. Until iOS 18s release, Truecaller had to rely on a locally saved dictionary of limited phone numbers on iOS.To enable the new feature, Truecaller built a new server architecture and created a separate, encrypted database for iOS, alongside its existing larger database for Android users. Apples Phone app makes encrypted requests to this database and gets encrypted responses that are only decrypted on the client (iPhone) to show the caller ID in real time. This process is called homomorphic encryption, as the computations use encrypted data instead of decrypting them first, while decryption happens on the client to display caller information if it matches with the data stored on the server.Kabra told TechCrunch that Truecaller had built a way to sync two databases to keep the data synced between them.At the moment, there might be a bit of a delay because these requests get queued up, and the encryption that we do is very time-consuming and very expensive But it should not be more than a few hours, he said.TechCrunch tested live caller ID under Truecallers beta program last week and noticed that the feature does provide caller information in real-time in most cases, though it sometimes misses.Truecallers premium tier on iOS starts at $9.99 a month, per individual, or $74.99/year. The company also offers its family plan on iOS starting at $14.99/month or $99.99/year and the top-end Gold subscription at $249 a year. Users can enable the Live Caller ID Lookup feature through iPhone Settings > Apps > Phone > Call Blocking & Identification. On iOS 18, Truecaller also updated its interface with the callers name appearing in bold over their number. Now, Truecaller is working on support for images to show up in the caller ID for its iOS users.

In fact, Kim is listed as a massive +1400 underdog heading into the fight, while Inoue is an unbelievable -5000 favorite. That means youd have to bet $5000 to make $100 if you put your money on Inoue. If you bet $100 on Kim and he pulls off the remarkable upset, youd win $1400 for a total payout of $1500.Take a look at the highlights from Kim below, and when you see his lack of hand speed, youll understand part of the reason Inoue is such a huge favorite.Boxing is a crazy sport where the unthinkable can happen. • Paralyzed man flies virtual drone by thought alone
    www.digitaltrends.com
A man with paralysis has been able to fly a virtual drone using only his thoughts. The feat was made possible by a brain-computer interface (BCI) that decoded the mans brain activity in real time, Nature reported this week. The neural signals were associated with finger movements that enabled control of the virtual drone.Recommended VideosTheres a lot of things that we enjoy or do as humans where we use multiple individuated finger movements, so like typing, sewing, playing a musical instrument, said Matthew Willsey, the studys co-author and a neurosurgeon at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Thats what this line of work is focused on how we enable the control of multiple things at the same time. Please enable Javascript to view this contentWillsey added that the experiment couldve been performed with a real drone but the team decided to use a virtual one for ease and safety. The 69-year-old man who participated in the study told the researchers that controlling the virtual object felt like playing a musical instrument, saying: Flying [the virtual drone] is tiny little finesses off a middle line, a little bit up, a little bit down. The mans BCI was fitted by Blackrock Neurotech and was implanted in the area of the brain that controls hand motion. An AI model was used to map the neural signals received by the BCIs electrodes to the mans thoughts, New Scientist explained. The participant first went through a process of learning how to imagine some of his fingers moving in a way that created electrical signals of varying strength, which later allowed him to pilot the virtual drone through an obstacle course.Willsey said that for the participant, the test was the realization of a dream that he thought was lost once he suffered his injury. He had a passion and a dream for flying. He seemed very empowered and enabled he would have us take videos and send it to friends.BCI technology has made significant advancements in recent years, with companies like Elon Musks Neuralink also developing a device that is currently undergoing human testing.Once fully developed, a slew of exciting applications could bring significant freedom and independence to those with paralysis. They include allowing people with severe paralysis or locked-in syndrome to communicate by translating neural activity into text or speech simply through their thoughts. It can also enable people to use computers, play games, and operate wheelchairs and robotic prosthetics, and even do things like grasp objects or scratch their face. However, challenges remain with the technology, including medical risks from the surgery required to implant a BCI device.High levels of concentration are also required from the person using the device, with current BCIs correctly recognizing mental commands only about 80% of the time, and up to 30% of users failing to get it to function at all. The health and psychological implications of the technology, including cognitive fatigue and long-term exposure to electromagnetic fields, are also not yet fully understood. These and other challenges highlight the need for continued research and development to improve BCI technology, deal with safety concerns, and create appropriate regulatory frameworks.Editors Recommendations

    www.businessinsider.com
Dame Judi Dench, 90, says she doesn't enjoy attending events alone."I'm not good at that at all, nor would I be now," the Oscar-winning actor said on a podcast. But these days, her deteriorating eyesight means she doesn't go out alone anymore, she added.Dame Judi Dench, 90, isn't a fan of going to events on her own."I'm not good at that at all, nor would I be now," the Oscar-winning actor said during an appearance on the "Fearless" podcast hosted by Trinny Woodall."I'm always nervous before going to something. I am nervous about I don't know I have no idea why," Dench said. The "James Bond" star said she usually needs to have a partner such as her agent accompany her."Somebody will always be with me," Dench said. "I have to now because I can't see, and I will walk into something or fall over."In 2012, she told The Mirror that she had been diagnosed with macular degeneration, a disease that affects a person's central vision. It is the leading cause of vision loss among Americans 65 and older, per the CDC.But "fortunately," she doesn't have to go out alone now "because I pretend to have no eyesight," she said.In 2023, Dench said on "The Graham Norton Show" that her vision had gotten so bad she couldn't read scripts anymore."It has become impossible, and because I have a photographic memory, I need to find a machine that not only teaches me my lines but also tells me where they appear on the page," Dench said. "I used to find it very easy to learn lines and remember them."Dench has been with her partner, conservationist David Mills, since 2010. She shares one daughter, Finty Williams, with her late husband, the actor Michael Williams, who died of lung cancer in 2001.Despite a career spanning almost seven decades, Dench has hinted at retirement due to her worsening vision. When asked by a reporter in 2024 if she had any plans for future roles, Dench responded with "No, no, I can't even see," per The Guardian. Her last onscreen role was in 2022's "Spirited," per her IMDB page. She previously told The Mirror in 2023 that she wanted to work "as much as I can.""I have an irrational fear of boredom," she said. "That's why I now have this tattoo that says carpe diem. That's what we should live by."A representative for Dench did not immediately respond to a request for comment sent by Business Insider outside regular hours.
