President Donald Trump announced Stargate, a new joint venture between OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank.OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says Stargate will allow AGI to be built in the US, creating more jobs.Altman said that a project like Stargate may not have been possible without Trump.The US will be able to achieve AGI, or artificial general intelligence, with President Donald Trump's new Stargate AI project, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said on Tuesday.Altman was at the White House on Tuesday when Trump announced Stargate, a new joint venture between OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank. Stargate is expected to invest up to $500 billion in AI infrastructure across the US."This means we can create AI and AGI in the United States of America," Altman said of Stargate during a Tuesday interview with Fox News's Bret Baier, adding that Stargate wouldn't exist without Trump."I think with a different president it might not have been possible. But we are thrilled to get to do this, and I think it'll be great for Americans, great for the whole world," Altman told Baier.Building AGI in the US would create "hundreds of thousands of jobs," Altman said at the press conference following Trump's Tuesday announcement."I'm thrilled we get to do this in the United States of America. I think this will be the most important project of this era," Altman told reporters at the White House.OpenAI did not respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.To be sure, the US is likely not close to achieving AGI just yet. Altman, too, took to X to temper expectations that OpenAI is on the cusp of achieving AGI.On Monday, Altman wrote in an X post that OpenAI was "not gonna deploy AGI next month, nor have we built it.""We have some very cool stuff for you but pls chill and cut your expectations 100x!" Altman wrote on X.Still, OpenAI is developing new offerings and rolling them out quickly. The OpenAI chief wrote in a blog post on January 5 that companies could start using AI agents this year."We are now confident we know how to build AGI as we have traditionally understood it. We believe that, in 2025, we may see the first AI agents 'join the workforce' and materially change the output of companies," Altman wrote.IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva predicted in a blog post in January 2024 that AI's impact on the job market would be uneven. Around 60% of the jobs in advanced economies will be affected by AI, Georgieva wrote."Roughly half the exposed jobs may benefit from AI integration, enhancing productivity," Georgieva wrote in her blog post."For the other half, AI applications may execute key tasks currently performed by humans, which could lower labor demand, leading to lower wages and reduced hiring. In the most extreme cases, some of these jobs may disappear," she added.

NASA/Night Sky Network Stargazers are in for a treat as six planets will appear to align together in the night skies, decorating our views of the cosmos for the rest of January and into February. Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune will all be visible side by side, forming a line across the sky, while Mercury will unfortunately be a no-show. The rare planetary alignment can be enjoyed over the next few weeks, with most of the planets of the solar system appearing as a bright twinkle to the naked eye, according to NASA. The six planets only appear to align from our viewpoint from Earth, a bit of a cosmic optical illusion as each follows a widely varying elliptical path around the Sun. Their alignment in the night sky, however, depends onthe orbit and position of each planet as seen from Earth. While two or three planets aligning next to one another in the night sky is quite common, seeing four or five planets all at once is a rare occasion. These multi-planet viewing opportunities arent super rare, but they dont happen every year, so its worth checking it out, NASA wrote. How to see the planet parade Since the beginning of January, the planets have been drawing closer to one another. Venus and Saturn came within just a finger widths apart in our view of the night sky this week in a dual planetary conjunction. In reality, the two planets are hundreds of millions of miles apart. The planetary alignment will likely be most visible about 30 to 60 minutes before sunrise. Its best viewed from a high, dark vantage point with little to no light pollution and an unobscured view of the sky.The line formed by the planets in the night sky is called the ecliptic, and it represents the plane of the solar system in which the planets orbit around the Sun, according to NASA. We were commissioned to design a space for a renowned ring workshop brand from Seoul, located in Jeonpo-dong, a popular hotspot for young people in Busan. During our first meeting with the client, we visited the site and found it to be an intriguing space featuring an upturned roof supported by a very old wooden truss structure. We heard that prior to its use as a clothing store, the space had functioned as a caf, and it had previously been utilized as a warehouse for an extended period in a tool shop alleyway in Jeonpo-dong.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!While the existing brand's identity had already been established, the client expressed a desire for the design to maintain the warehouse's appearance and roof shape, which had been preserved for an extended period. To align with the client's vision, we opted to maintain the warehouse's exterior appearance, recognizing its historical significance. Internally, we contemplated how the space could embody the form of the unprocessed stone and its subsequent transformation. When conceptualizing the tactile experience of the rough stone, it was anticipated that the final aesthetic would vary based on the processing and shaping of the surface. To this end, the depth and density of the space were articulated through the varied textures of the materials, despite their shared color.Save this picture!Save this picture!Upon entering the building, visitors are greeted by curved walls with a rough keystone finish that varies in height and thickness as they pass through the floor-to-ceiling glass doors. Monitors and ring accessory furniture are strategically placed between the rough walls to showcase the ring workshop brand's information. When entering through the gate on the left, the oval-shaped desk arrangement visually emphasizes the image of the ring workshop rather than the traditional rigid layout.Save this picture!Save this picture!Given that the ring workshop primarily attracts young people in their 20s and 30s, we introduced a landscaped area in the center of the space to offer a unique experience while ensuring comfort during classes. Additionally, we collaborated with artists to create finishes on ALC blocks that featured varying levels of texture roughness.
