  • GitHub Is Showing the Trump Administration Scrubbing Government Web Pages in Real Time | Watch the Trump administration play DEI whac-a-mole on this government agency's GitHub page.

AdvertisementGo ad freeGithubGitHub Is Showing the Trump Administration Scrubbing Government Web Pages in Real Time Jan 23, 2025 at 3:17 PM Watch the Trump administration play DEI whac-a-mole on this government agency's GitHub page. You can see the specific steps that a government agency is taking to comply with the Trump administrations policies against diversity, equity, and inclusion on the agencys GitHub, which shows it frantically deleting and editing various documents, employee handbooks, Slack bots, and job listings across everything the agency touches.18F is a much-hyped government agency within the General Services Administration that was founded under the Obama Administration after the disastrous rollout of Healthcare.gov. It more or less had the specific goal of attracting Silicon Valley talent to the federal government to help the government innovate and make many of its websites and digital services suck less. It is one of the cooler federal agencies, and has open sourced many of its projects on GitHub.GitHub is a website for open source development that shows changes across different commits, or changes to code and documentation. In the first days of the Trump administration, 18Fs commit list is full of change logs detailing the administrations attempts to destroy the concept of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The changes show that in the last 48 hours, 18F has edited text and wholesale deleted both internal and external web pages about, for example Inclusive behaviors, healthy conflict and constructive feedback, DEIA resources, and Diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. It deleted a webpage about psychological safety (which now 404s) deleted all information about the DE&I leads at the agency, as well as language for employees that said "Anyone who has issues or concerns related to inclusion or equity in the 18F engineering chapter should feel empowered to reach out to the DE&I Leads. It has deleted, in various places, the word inclusion, as well as the term affinity groups. It also deleted an internal Slack Bot called Inclusion Bot, which is described as being integrated into Slack and passively listens for words or phrases that have racist, sexist, ableist, or otherwise exclusionary or discriminatory histories or backgrounds. When it hears those words, it privately lets the writer know and offers some suggested alternatives.Do you work for the federal government? I would love to hear from you. Using a non-work device, you can message me securely on Signal at +1 202 505 1702. Otherwise, send me an email at jason@404media.co.It has also notably deleted information intended for improving accessibility for blind and visually impaired employees, which asked employees to use visual descriptions when introducing themselves on Zoom meetings. In a hiring document, the language Teams should consider factors of equity and complexity of the research when determining compensation for participants on their project has been changed to team should consider other factors or complexity of the research. The Trump administration has not tried to hide that it is trying to delete web pages and employee information across the government. But seeing the change logs pop up as theyre happening on GitHub shows exactly how these changes are being done and how theyre rolling out.Jason is a cofounder of 404 Media. • Undertale Creator Toby Fox Joins 'OFF' RPG Soundtrack
    www.nintendolife.com
Subscribe to Nintendo Life on YouTube794kLast December, the quirky RPG OFF was announced for the Switch. At the time we mentioned how Undertale and Deltarune creator Toby Fox often cited this game as a huge influence on his own work, and now in an update, it's been revealed he'll be contributing to the soundtrack of this "improved version".Publisher Fangamer goes into detail in its latest PR about how Toby Fox came to be involved in this project:Fangamer: Fangamer reached out to Alias Conrad Coldwood to reuse the original soundtrack in the new version, but ACC felt nervous about signing and proved hard to reach. He did state that he doesn't mind his music will not be reused and that he has no issues with a new soundtrack.Subscribe to Nintendo Life on YouTube794kWatch on YouTube Mortis Ghost, the developer, asked Toby Fox if he was interested in helping on OFF's soundtrack. Both recognise that the soundtrack contributed a lot to the game's atmosphere and core memories of the fans, so it wasn't an easy challenge to deliver the same experience.Toby ended up handling a lot of boss tracks and was also assigned... the normal battle theme. Pepper Steak, the most famous song from the original OST, is well-loved by fans with millions of listens across various platforms.Toby Fox has also shared some details about his involvement - mentioning how the experience was quite the challenge, and revealing how he called on the Japanese composer Camellia (Beatmania, Dance Dance Revolution) to help out:Toby Fox: "I'm gonna be honest, just feels like I got assigned to take a bullet in the back for everybody else. I looked up almost every jazz song from the 1920s, I commissioned Carlos to make an entire fake jazz song for me so I could cut it up into samples, I tried making like 6 entirely different songs, but nothing I could come up with on my own felt quite right. In the end, I summoned Camellia to help me out by re-remixing my first track into multiple versions, and ultimately I think it will feel pretty cool as you go through the game."You can read the full interview with Toby on the 'Off the RPG' website.Toby also apparently did this music for free and will be uploading all of his tracks for free when the game is released this year. You can listen to 'White Meat' - the new battle theme for OFF by Toby Fox & Camellia in the video below:Subscribe to Nintendo Life on YouTube794kIf you want to find out a bit more about this upcoming release, check out our original post here on Nintendo Life: With a physical edition to bootAre you excited about Toby Fox's involvement in this "improved version" of OFF? The project could cost between $20 billion to $30 billion, the report added. Ambani raised more than $25 billion in 2020 from a group of investors including Meta, Google, Silver Lake, General Atlantic, KKR, Mubadala and PIF to fund the growth of Reliances retail and telecom ventures that now dominate the country. Reliance is Indias most valuable company.Ambani aims to power the facility primarily with renewable energy from an adjacent green energy complex that will produce solar, wind and hydrogen power.Ambani is buying chips from Nvidia for the data center, the report added. • The best USB-C cables for the iPhone 15 in 2025: What the experts recommend
    www.zdnet.com
While we're barely into 2025, Apple's legendaryiPhone 15 seriesis already breaking barriers as it barrels away from 2012's Lightening connector to the USB-C connector used by Android phones and products. The USB-C is also used with a bevy of current-generation Macbooks as well as other laptop computers and electronics, making this cable a necessity for pretty much everyone, regardless of which system you use.Using the industry standard USB-C connector, the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus support USB PD 18W charging, with USB 2.0 data rates (480 Mbps), whereas the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max support USB PD charge rates of up to 29W with USB 3.2 Gen 2x1 data rates (10Gbps). That means depending on what USB-C cable you buy, your iPhone's charging rate and data transfer speeds may vary from optimal to good enough to painfully slow. Fortunately, I've connected with industry experts to round up the very best USB-C cables you can buy for your new iPhone, with ZDNET's top pick being the Anker Powerline III USB-C for USB 2.0 and the Monoprice AtlasFlex for USB 3.2. Check out our other picks below. With this shift to the USB-C connector on the iPhone 15, there will be confusion about which USB-C cable to buy because not all are created equal. Some support higher wattage levels to charge laptops and other higher-capacity consumer electronics such as power stations and portable batteries. Some even possess USB-IF or Thunderbolt certifications, meaning they have been tested to more rigorous performance, safety, and build quality standards. Most USB-C cables sold support USB 2.0 data rates (480mbps), whereas others support higher data rates supported by the iPhone 15 Pro.Many cables on the market, such as Apple's OEM USB-C charge cable, also only have 1-year warranties, effectively making them throwaway products, whereas others have 18-month, 2-year, 5-year, or even lifetime warranties. For this list, we've chosen a variety of well-known vendors with reputable support policies. If you have the iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Plus or only need a charging cable with your iPhone 15 Pro, any Charging/USB 2.0 cables on this list are fine.If you plan to charge the iPhone, iPad Pro, and laptop, you'll want cables with a 100W charge capacity or higher. If you have an iPhone 15 Pro or an iPhone 15 Pro Max and want to transfer data at high speed (10Gbps), you will want a Thunderbolt/USB 4 cable or USB 3.1 Gen 2/USB 3.2 Gen 2 cable. Show more What's the difference between USB 2.0, USB 3.1 Gen 2, USB 3.2 Gen 2, USB 4, Thunderbolt, and USB PD? The USB 2.0 data connectivity standard was introduced in April of 2000, with a data transfer rate of 480Mbps. Lightning, the connector standard used from the iPhone 5 to the iPhone 14, and the USB-C connector on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, use USB 2.0 signaling protocols and data transfer rates. The USB 3.1 data connectivity standard was introduced in July 2013, and the USB Type-C connector was finalized by the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) in August 2014. USB 3.2 was introduced in September 2017, replacing, absorbing, and renaming the USB 3.1 specification. However, USB 3.1 Gen 2 and USB 3.2 Gen 2 data connectivity standards are the same, also known as SuperSpeed+, delivering 10 Gbps. Products labeled under either specification should work on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone Pro Max at native speeds, especially if they are USB-IF certified.Thunderbolt is a proprietary technology owned by Intel and co-developed with Apple. It is a hardware interface for connecting external peripherals to a computer (a PC or a Mac). Thunderbolt version 3 is the basis for the USB4 specification, supports up to 40Gbps throughput, and is backward compatible with USB 3.2 Gen 2, which the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max are compatible with.USB Power Delivery(USB PD) is a fast charging standard delivered over USB-C cables, supporting up to 100W with Standard Power (SPR) and up to 240W with Extended Power (EPR) provided the cable and device support it. With USB PD, The cable "listens" to the device's wattage needs and adjusts its energy flow accordingly. So, if you connect an 18W iPhone 15 to a cable that can support up to 240W, the charger brick and cable with USB PD support will throttle down to 18W maximum charge rate. Show more Should I buy a Thunderbolt-certified cable? In our discussions with Bernie Thompson, the founder of Plugable, which sells USB-IF-certified and Thunderbolt cables, he recommended that you should buy a Thunderbolt-certified cable if you are using it for fast data transfer on an iPhone 15 Pro, as that is the industry standard Apple has aligned itself with (and is a founding member along with Intel) for its products. It is overkill, but it is guaranteed to work. However, a less expensive USB 3.1 Gen 2/USB 3.2 Gen 2 cable should also work but we haven't had the chance to test one on an iPhone 15 Pro yet. Per Apple's support page:"iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max support fast USB 3.2 Gen 2 speeds up to 10Gbit per second when using an optional USB 3 cable."
