    www.fastcompany.com
In a move on the petty-but-harmful bar of shutting down theWhite House Spanish-language pageand theremovalof words such as diversity and fairness from the FBI core values, the National Park Service (NPS) has erased references to transgender and queer people from the official website for the Stonewall National Monument due to a executive order issued by President Donald Trump.A two-gender nation?Last month, the president declared that the federal government will only recognizetwo gendersmale and female. Since then, federal agencies have been removing references to trans, queer, and intersex people from their pages, including those of the the NPS, which has erased references to transgender and queer people from its official website forStonewall.LGBTQ+ is now also shortened to LGB on the NPS website. According to anarchived versionof the page posted byCNN, it had previously said LGBTQ+. The organization has not yet responded to our request for comment.Honoring brave pioneersTheStonewall National Monument Visitor Center opened June 28, 2024, marking the 55th anniversary of the of theStonewall Rebellion, where LGBTQ+ activistsincludingtranspeoplekicked off the modern fight for equality. A program ofPride Live, it was the first LGBTQIA+ visitor center in the National Park Service. In response to Trumps tactic, Pride Live and the visitor center published a statement on their websites denouncing the move: Our space is inextricably linked with and honors the brave pioneers, especially transgender and gender-nonconforming individuals, who led the Stonewall Rebellion, the statement read. Independently owned and operated, and 100% supported by donations, we will continue our mission to ensure that every person has access to learn about and see themselves in history.Erik Bottcher, a member of the New York City Council, toldCNN: Hes trying to cleave our community apart and divide us. Hes not going to succeed. Lesbians and gays are not going abandon our transgender siblings. We are one community.Pride Live has made clear it will stand against the erasure of the existence and contributions of trans and queer people from the narrative: Through the creation of the Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center, were unwavering in our effort to protect and preserve Stonewalls legacy and history, the organization said.Government websites have been moving to erase references to transgender and nonbinary communities since Trump retook the White House. • Gerber Gear Stake Out Spark multitool will minimize your load so you can camp more
    www.yankodesign.com
Not all everyday carry multitools are the same. I dont mean just in terms of their functional abilities and tool selection, but also in their design. Some may be well-equipped with essential tools, yet their usability can be compromised due to ineffective design. Gerber Gear understands this, which is why the company offers multitools in various shapes, configurations, and tool combinations to cater to different user needs.Carrying the baton forward from the previously popular Stake Out 0.75 inches thick camping multitool with 11 different tool combinations is Gerber Stake Out Spark. The upgraded version of the Stake Out, Spark like its predecessor can set up a camp, start a fire, and help cook in the wilderness. It is however going ahead with a different set of tools 10 now and a distinct, butterfly opening for quick and easy access, that at least I would prefer over many EDCs. It may look slightly bulkier, but I believe that should be worth the gamble.Designer: Gerber GearAs a wholesome multitool for any adventure you can think of, the Spark is designed with substance and utility at the forefront. Outdoor seeking versatility without bulk in the backpack or pocket, can give the Stake Out Spark a spin on their next backpacking, bike camping, or any adventure of choice. We strongly emphasize the former since in addition to being a workhorse to take on whatever camp task you need to tackle, it can (using an onboard plier) be used for occasional gear repair and other tasks involving wires and cables requiring twisting and turning.Versatile 10-tool multitool, the Spark can let you start a fire, repair a bike, start dinner, and even assist in breaking down camp and windup. It is built with the philosophy of getting more done without bringing tons of gear. This one tool should be enough to ensure you can have more time in nature and less time worrying about the How!With a classic butterfly grip to access either of the two pliers, a ferro rod and saw to spark up a campfire, and a carabiner to carry it without crowding the bag or bulking up the pocket; the Stake Out Spark has a tent stake puller that helps wind up a camp in a snap. Other essentials in the Sparks features set include a wire cutter, bottle opener, blade with plain edge, ruler, and an awl because why not?The Gerber Stake Out Spark like its predecessors comes with a lifetime warranty. Its pocket clip or carabiner (as mentioned above) allows you to carry it comfortably in a manner you wish. For those fussy about colors; Spark is available in Coyote Brown and Baltic Haze colorways. You can get it right away for $69.95.The post Gerber Gear Stake Out Spark multitool will minimize your load so you can camp more first appeared on Yanko Design.

  • This Sculptural Caf in Bangkok Looks Like a Flower Blooming from Concrete
    www.yankodesign.com
Tucked away in the industrial landscape of Bangkok, Curvy Dining feels like an anomalyan ethereal bloom rising from the concrete. Designed by Unknown Surface Studio, this sculptural caf pulls inspiration from the flowers that naturally grow on-site. But rather than mimicking nature outright, the design distills organic forms into a precise architectural language. The result is a structure that appears both delicate and deliberate, where curves and symmetry dictate movement and experience. The design begins with a singular point, much like the growth pattern of a flower. Lines radiate outward, forming petal-like curves that shape the buildings flow. The exterior is a composition of white, arching surfaces that expand into the surrounding greenery, creating a seamless transition between architecture and nature. The play of light and shadow along these curved walls changes throughout the day, reinforcing the idea of natural evolutionsomething alive, shifting, and responsive.Designer: Unknown Surface StudioThe exercise is a massive deviation from most buildings with their squarish or circular plans. The creation of a flower-shaped almost-amoeboid pattern means not only does the building look incredible from the top view, it also is essentially one running wall that weaves front and back, creating tucks and folds that are great for the outdoors (allowing for unique sun reflections and shadowed spots), but also for indoors, creating visual drama no matter where you look. At the same time, the designers were also presented with a strange challenge of designing decor for a space that was far from conventional and that had absolutely no straight lines between the floor and walls.Approaching the caf, visitors step onto oversized stones that float within a landscape designed to feel incidental, yet intentional. The entrance, framed by a sweeping arch and glass doors, creates a moment of compression before opening into the luminous interior. Here, vertical lines converge at a central skylight, guiding the eye upward to a framed view of the sky. This singular element anchors the space, turning an otherwise enclosed volume into one that feels expansive. Natural light filters down, softening the stark geometry and casting ever-changing patterns on the surfaces below.Seating arrangements follow the cafs radial symmetry. Built-in benches curve along the perimeter, offering a sense of enclosure without isolation. At the center, a floating island of seating sits beneath the skylight, reinforcing the spaces organic composition. The absence of rigid partitions allows for fluid circulation, where movement feels intuitive rather than dictated by conventional pathways. This openness fosters a quiet interplay between structure and atmosphere, where the experience of space becomes as significant as the design itself. As day turns to night, artificial lighting transforms the caf once again. Strategically placed fixtures highlight the sculptural elements, emphasizing the rhythmic repetition of curved lines. Shadows deepen, adding a new layer of depth to the surfaces that seemed weightless in daylight. The caf takes on a new identityone that feels just as dynamic and evolving as its natural inspiration. The post This Sculptural Caf in Bangkok Looks Like a Flower Blooming from Concrete first appeared on Yanko Design.

  • Okami 2 Capcom Confirms Development on RE Engine
    gamingbolt.com
Capcom is slowly ramping up its marketing for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, the franchises first mainline title since 2006s Dawn of Dreams. While the next Okami, also announced at The Game Awards, is further away, its confirmed to be in development on RE Engine.Producer Kiyohiko Sakata of Machine Head Works (also working on the project alongside M-Two) also revealed its role to IGN, acting as a bridge for developer Clovers. The way that Machine Head Works is involved now, working together with Capcom and Clovers, is that, of course, we have Capcom as the major IP holder of kami, deciding the major direction of the games. And we have Clovers as the development lead for this project.Machine Head Works comes in by having experience working with Capcom previously on several titles, so we know what Capcom needs to create the game. Thats something that Machine Head Works has the experience and knowledge of. We also have experience working with Kamiya-san before as well. So we have both experiences of Capcom and Clovers, and were acting sort of like a bridge between Clovers and Capcom. In addition to this, we also have experience working with the game engine we are using for this project, RE Engine. So, Clovers developers havent had any experience using this engine, but Machine Head Works has experience using it. So were aiding them. Also under us, Machine Head Works, we have people who have actually had the experience of working with the original kami game and will be aiding us with the development of this title.Though Capcom producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi couldnt delve into more details, he confirmed why the company opted for RE Engine. We believe that without RE Engine at this point, we wouldnt be able to realize [director Hideki] Kamiya-sans artistic dreams for this project.Director Hideki Kamiya added, So RE Engine is, of course, famous for showing the best of the games that they have. Very, very good expressively. And so we believe people are also expecting and awaiting the RE Engine level of quality now for this game.Sakata also noted, With todays technology, we are able to achieve all of this that we were trying to achieve back in the days and perhaps even greater, now that we have the RE Engine as well working with us.The results should be interesting because as well as RE Engine has worked with titles like Resident Evil 4 remake, Street Fighter 6 and Devil May Cry 5, its struggled with open-world games like Dragons Dogma 2. Even Monster Hunter Wilds had some performance and fidelity issues during its betas, though the development team showcased improvements for the final game.As for the next Okami, it doesnt have a release date or platforms, so stay tuned for updates.

Ernest Shackleton (15February 1874 5January 1922) was an explorer who led three British expeditions to the Antarctic during the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration. He and three companions established a new record Farthest South latitude, 112miles (180km) from the South Pole, as part of the Nimrod Expedition of 19071909; Shackleton was knighted on his return home. He planned the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition of 19141917 but his ship, Endurance, became trapped in pack ice and then sank on 21November 1915.
