  • To Lead The Indie Initiative Or To Leave Sony, That Was The Question For Shuhei Yoshida
    cgshares.com
Shuhei YoshidaPlayStation legend Shuhei Yoshidas last job before leaving the company after three decades of tenure was as Head of Independent Developer Initiative. Although this position has helped him build relationships with various indie developers, where he helped them achieve better goals, the industry veteran said he had no other choice than to take this role.Moving from first-party to indies? Well, I had no choice, Yoshida told VentureBeat what happened back in 2019 when he stepped down from President of SIE Worldwide Studios. When Jim asked me to do the indie job, the choice was to do that or leave the company. But I felt very strongly about the state of PlayStation and indies. I really wanted to do this. I believed I could do something unique for that purpose.Compared with leaving the company this January, Yoshida said taking charge of indies was actually a bigger change for him. His reputation and experiences of working on many best-selling games, including SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs, Jak and Daxter, and Twisted Metal: Black, were a great help for independent developers. He reckoned, Im very lucky that the indie community, the publishers and developers I work closely with, they believed that they could use my help.Yoshidas efforts to help grow the indie community and increase its influence included internal communication, especially with those who newly joined PlayStation, to spread the importance of supporting indie titles. He has a deep belief that indie games create the future. Outside of the company, he aimed to make things better for indie developers and publishers.Obviously, the career path that Yoshida was assigned didnt end with his departure from the company. Even after leaving Sony, Yoshida is still not retired, as he plans to continue working with some indie publishers and developers as an advisor. Soon after his last day at Sony, he announced his first video game voice role in an upcoming open-world crime game titled Promise Mascot Agency.Dont forget to join our80 Level Talent platformand ournew Discord server, follow us onInstagram,Twitter,LinkedIn,Telegram,TikTok, andThreads, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.Source link The post To Lead The Indie Initiative Or To Leave Sony, That Was The Question For Shuhei Yoshida appeared first on CG SHARES.

RTMario NawfalWHY GROK 3 IMPROVES EVERY DAYIts not shackled to a static knowledge base like older AI models. Its architecture thrives on continuous updates, pulling in fresh data from the web, X posts, and beyond to refine its understanding of the world. Technically, this is powered by real-time training pipelines and adaptive learning algorithms that adjust its neural weights as new information flows in - no rigid cutoffs, just constant evolution. Grok 3 also wields advanced tools: it can parse X user profiles, analyze posts, and even process uploaded content like images or PDFs, leveraging multimodal AI to extract meaning from diverse inputs. Need more context? It searches the web or X dynamically, cross-referencing data to sharpen its responses. This isnt just surface-level growth - its a system built to fine-tune its reasoning, reduce biases, and boost accuracy with every interaction. • Sony Didn't Pass On Dark Souls--From Software Just Passed On Sony
    www.gamespot.com
Choices have consequences. Unfortunately for Sony, one particular decision has led the company to missing out on a couple of the biggest franchises in gaming. The PlayStation team decided not to publish Demon's Souls globally in 2009, which led to a sour taste for the now-well-known studio From Software. That meant the developer looked elsewhere for a publisher with Dark Souls, according to former PlayStation boss Shuhei Yoshida.VGC reports that Yoshida explained why Sony didn't publish Dark Souls while appearing on the Secret Symbols podcast. It wasn't because the PlayStation team wasn't interested, per Yoshida. "From Software was already working on the sequel [to Demon's Souls], but they were so disappointed with how PlayStation treated them, we wanted to work with them again but they passed on it," said Yoshida. For those unfamiliar, Atlus ended up publishing Demon's Souls in North America for PS3, while Bandai Namco handled similar duties in Europe. Sony reportedly passed on bringing the action-RPG to other worldwide markets because the PlayStation team didn't think it would appeal to the mass market. Ultimately, Demon's Souls ended up being GameSpot's game of the year in 2009.Continue Reading at GameSpot

  • Avowed Has a Subtle Callback to an Old Obsidian Relic
    gamerant.com
While BioWare led the development of its predecessor, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords was Avowed developer Obsidian Entertainment's first project after being founded by former Black Isle Studios developers a project that the team managed to complete in just a little over a year. To this day, Knights of the Old Republic 2 is considered one of the best RPGs ever made, on account of its philosophical storytelling, character depth, and subversive take on Star Wars morality. As such, its influence on the gaming industry is still felt today, and that apparently includes Obsidian's own Avowed.
