    www.yankodesign.com
Lenovo arrived at MWC 2025 with an entire lineup of AI-powered devices, proving once again that business computing isnt static. This years showcase introduced a fresh wave of ThinkPad and ThinkBook laptops alongside proof-of-concept innovations that push the boundaries of flexibility, modularity, and AI integration. The company continues to refine what professionals expect from their work devices, with hybrid work, security, and immersive computing taking center stage.Designer: LenovoAmong the most intriguing concepts at Lenovos showcase was the ThinkBook codename Flip AI PC. The outward-folding OLED display is the defining element of its design, transforming a compact 13-inch laptop into an 18.1-inch vertically expanded workspace. This dynamic shift allows users to choose between Clamshell Mode for standard laptop tasks, Vertical Mode for document-heavy work, Share Mode for dual-screen collaboration, Tablet Mode for touch interaction, and Read Mode for distraction-free viewing. The hinge mechanism plays a critical role in maintaining smooth transitions between these modes, engineered to provide a seamless fold without visible creases or warping. AI-enhanced multitasking eliminates the need for external monitors, thanks to the Workspace Split Screen functionality, which divides tasks intelligently across the expanded display. With an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor and 32GB LPDDR5X memory, it delivers fast performance without overheating. The Smart ForcePad introduces a 3-layer illuminated dashboard, providing additional numeric keys and media controls for quick input. Thunderbolt 4 ports and a fingerprint reader keep security and connectivity simple and effective. The Flips build prioritizes portability without sacrificing durability, with lightweight materials that retain structural rigidity while enabling an ultra-slim form factor when folded. The ThinkPad lineup expands with the latest generation of AI-enhanced business laptops built for professionals who need performance without compromise. The ThinkPad X13 Gen 6 brings AI acceleration, enterprise security, and lightweight portability, making it a go-to machine for those who work on the move. With its Communication Bar housing a 5MP + IR camera, video calls look clearer, and AI-powered background noise reduction makes meetings more seamless. The inclusion of Wi-Fi 7 and optional 5G keeps connectivity at the forefront, while configurations with up to 64GB LPDDR5X memory ensure that even the most demanding applications run efficiently.Lenovos ThinkPad T14s 2-in-1 introduces a convertible design to the T-series for the first time. The 360-degree hinge allows it to transition between laptop, tent, stand, and tablet modes. The optional Lenovo Yoga Pen magnetically attaches to the device for easy access for executives, consultants, and professionals who use a stylus for brainstorming or annotations. Its powered by Intel Core Ultra processors with Intel vPro, balancing responsiveness and security in a design that adapts to changing workflows. For those who need power and precision, the ThinkBook 16p Gen 6 steps up with a focus on AI-driven acceleration. The Neural Processing Unit (NPU) works alongside the NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPU, freeing it up for demanding creative work like 3D rendering and modeling. With a system TDP of up to 200W in Geek Mode, performance remains stable even under heavy workloads. A 16-inch 3.2K display with X-Rite color calibration delivers precision for creative professionals, and the dual-fan cooling system sustains performance without overheating.Alongside AI-powered laptops, Lenovo is pushing modular computing further with the Magic Bay ecosystem. This collection of attachable accessories transforms the ThinkBook 16p Gen 6 into an expandable workstation. The Magic Bay Dual Display concept introduces a secondary 13.3-inch screen that attaches seamlessly, perfect for professionals managing multiple applications. The Magic Bay codename Tiko acts as an AI-driven status companion with gesture-based interactions, while the Magic Bay Tiko Pro functions as a widget display integrated with Lenovo AI Now, offering real-time updates on important tasks. These modular additions emphasize adaptability without adding unnecessary bulk to a users setup.Immersive computing remains a priority for Lenovo, highlighted by the ThinkBook 3D Laptop Concept. The glasses-free hybrid display supports both 2D and 3D modes, making it an ideal tool for content creators, engineers, and designers who require realistic depth and accuracy in digital projects. With a resolution of 32002000 and 100% DCI-P3 color accuracy, visuals remain crisp and true to life. The Lenovo AI Ring complements this experience by introducing gesture-based navigation, allowing users to manipulate 3D models and interact with UI elements without touching the screen. High-precision sensors and motion tracking bring a new level of control to computing. The Hybrid Dimensional 34-inch Curved Monitor Concept builds on this immersive approach. Unlike traditional displays, it presents 2D and 3D content simultaneously without requiring manual adjustments. The 21:9 ultrawide screen enhances workflow efficiency, giving professionals the ability to multitask across different dimensions. Whether used for virtual meetings, design work, or entertainment, the seamless display technology ensures that resolution and clarity are never compromised. On the software side, Lenovo AI Now continues to evolve, integrating AI-driven automation and productivity enhancements. The on-device AI assistant streamlines workflows with real-time processing and large action models (LAMs) for scheduling, communication, and task management. The latest iteration enhances collaboration between Lenovo PCs and Motorola smartphones, allowing users to trigger their PC remotely with a compatible phone. An improved mini AI Now window refines accessibility, keeping essential tools within reach without disrupting workflow.Security remains a core focus as enterprises adopt AI-powered devices. Lenovo ThinkShield Firmware Assurance protects firmware integrity, preventing unauthorized modifications during boot. The integration of a dedicated embedded controller verifies security at a platform level, ensuring that BIOS policies remain uncompromised. Lenovo Device Orchestration (LDO) supports IT teams with predictive analytics and automated security updates, minimizing downtime and streamlining system management. These security and IT management tools reinforce Lenovos commitment to delivering business-ready solutions that balance performance, security, and manageability.Availability for Lenovos latest ThinkPad and ThinkBook models begins in mid-2025. The ThinkPad X13 Gen 6 starts at $1,139, while the ThinkPad T14s 2-in-1 will be available at $1,719. The ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 and T14 Gen 6 arrive at $1,674 and $1,359, respectively. The ThinkPad T16 Gen 4 launches at $1,623, while the cost-effective ThinkPad E14 Gen 7 and ThinkPad E16 Gen 3 cater to small and medium businesses at $849 and $859. The ThinkBook 14 2-in-1 Gen 5 rounds out the lineup at $1,374, while the ThinkBook 16p Gen 6 remains exclusive to select markets outside North America.Lenovos MWC 2025 showcase demonstrated how AI-driven business computing continues to evolve. With smarter workspaces, modular expansions, and immersive AI-driven tools, the future of productivity is no longer tied to a single form factor. Each innovation moves closer to a computing experience that adapts as quickly as the professionals using it.The post Lenovo MWC 2025: AI ThinkPads, the Flip AI PC & Modular Magic Bay! first appeared on Yanko Design.

Apollo9 was the third crewed mission in the United States Apollo program. Launched by a SaturnV rocket from the Kennedy Space Center on March3, 1969, and flown in low Earth orbit, the mission flight-qualified the Lunar Module (LM), showing that its crew could fly it independently, then rendezvous and dock, as would be required for Apollo11, the first crewed lunar landing. Commander James McDivitt, Command Module Pilot David Scott, and Lunar Module Pilot Rusty Schweickart tested systems and procedures critical to landing on the Moon. A spacewalk tested the extravehicular life support backpack. McDivitt and Schweickart, entering the LM through the docking tunnel, became the first humans to pass between spacecraft without going outside them, two months after Soviet cosmonauts spacewalked to transfer between Soyuz4 and Soyuz5. Apollo9, a complete success, landed in the Atlantic Ocean on March13 and was followed by Apollo10, the dress rehearsal for Apollo11. • Infinixs new concepts use solar power to charge your phone
    www.theverge.com
Honestly Im into this back panel design even without the solar functionality.Chinese phone brand Infinix is known to show off a flashy concept, and at this years MWC the company is looking skyward for inspiration. Its showing a phone with an integrated solar panel on the back, as well as a solar charging phone case. Theyre both in the concept phase, but the demo units I saw at MWC were functional and the idea is plenty appealing.Infinix calls this SolarEnergy-Reserving technology, and it uses perovskite solar cells like Ankers beach umbrella and cloak concept. These cells are thinner and cheaper to produce than traditional silicon solar cells. Thats paired with a system that helps regulate voltage called Maximum Power Point Tracking. The idea is to maximize power while managing heat; sitting under a hot sun might be good for solar cells, but its generally not great if you want to keep your phone from overheating. As it exists now, this technology can charge a phone at up to 2W, and is intended to pad out a phones reserved charge while its not in use.The phone with built-in solar panel on the back is pretty self-explanatory, but I think the case is more interesting. Its paired with a prototype phone that has a couple of small contacts on the side to deliver power from the case. Being able to swap it out for a regular case when youre, say, going out at night would make sense. Likewise, having it around during a power outage would be handy.Infinix is having a little fun at MWC, too, and is also showing off its second-gen color-changing E Ink phone. On the previous version, the back panel only changed color when plugged in. Now, it will run on the phones internal battery power, and is more customizable with a range of patterns and palettes. They all look pretty similar, but in theory you can choose a photo as inspiration for the color palette or set it to change with the weather. Because its 2025, it does this with the help of you guessed it artificial intelligence.

  • Lenovos new concept laptop can be charged by the sun
    www.theverge.com
Lenovo has announced a new concept laptop at Mobile World Congress that encourages you to work outside by reducing your dependence on power cables. The Yoga Solar PC is an early proof of concept device featuring a solar panel integrated into the laptops lid. It can harness light from any source to boost its battery, but as with most solar-powered devices, youll get the most power while working outside on a clear, sunny day.The company hasnt announced any plans to put the Yoga Solar PC into production. However, its ThinkBook Plus Gen 6, featuring an expanding and rollable OLED display, initially debuted as a concept at Mobile World Congress in 2023 but will be available sometime in June 2025 for $3,499.The Yoga Solar PCs light-absorbing panel is made up of 84 solar cells featuring a Back Contact cell design. All of the panels mounting brackets and electrical contacts that collect and transfer the energy thats generated are located behind the solar cells. The front of the panel is able to capture more light, allowing Lenovo to achieve a conversion rate how much of the captured sunlight is converted to usable electricity of more than 24 percent. There are 84 solar cells on the Yoga Solar PCs lid, with brackets and wires hidden behind the panel so it can capture more light. Photo: Antonio G. Di Benedetto / The VergeThats more efficient than most of the silicone-based solar panels used in consumer electronics today, but a bit behind panels featuring an added layer of perovskite film on top that can boost light absorption and efficiencies to up to 43 percent. Even at 24 percent efficiency, Lenovo says the Yoga Solar PCs panel can absorb and convert enough solar energy from direct sunlight in 20 minutes to power up to one hour of video playback. The company says its still evaluating how much power is produced in conditions with lower light.Powered by an Intel Lunar Lake paired with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, the Yoga Solar PC measures in at 15 millimeters thick and weighs around 2.29 pounds with its 14-inch OLED display. To help ensure users are able to best take advantage of the light available to them whether indoors or outside the laptop will also feature Lenovos Dynamic Solar Tracking system software showing how much current and voltage the solar panel is producing.Lenovos Solar Power Kit for Yoga can be used to solar charge any gadget with a USB-C cable. Image: LenovoFor existing Yoga laptop users wanting to reduce their battery anxiety while touching grass, Lenovo also revealed an external solar power kit concept. Its a standalone solution that opens like a book to reveal a pair of side-by-side solar panels that can be attached to a backpack or stand on its own with a fold-out kickstand. It can connect and deliver power to a device with a USB-C cable, or the suns rays can be used to charge an included power bank that can power other devices later. But Lenovo hasnt announced plans to put it into production yet.Lenovo created the concept to bridge the gap between functionality and environmental awareness, giving users easy access to an alternative energy source. Youd need the weather to cooperate for a while to fully charge the Yoga Solar PC using its relatively small solar panel, but it could be a welcome fallback for when a power outlet is nowhere in reach.See More:

  • Your boss is a Nazi, Im selling the Nazimobile: Tesla owners offload cars
    www.theguardian.com
Illustration: Alvaro Dominguez/The GuardianWhen Elon Musk unveiled Teslas truck of the future in 2019, Filipos could barely contain his excitement. He quickly paid $100 to get on the waitlist. Filipos described himself as a true Tesla fanboy, and the Cybertruck would be the third vehicle hed buy from the company. When the Cybertruck came out, I watched the live event that night, and my wife was sitting there going, No. No. No, said Filipos, who lives in a suburb of Philadelphia and whose last name is being withheld for fear of online retribution. Despite his wifes disapproval, Filipos loved the bulky trapezoidal truck. I was truly geeking out on it, he said. Now things have changed. Filipos bought a Ford F-150 Lightning instead of the Cybertruck. And even though his other car, a Model 3 Performance Tesla, had just 30,000 miles on it, he traded it in for an Acura in February. Frustration had been building for Filipos over the last few months, but the turning point was when Musk did back-to-back Nazi-style salutes during an inauguration day celebration for Donald Trump in January.I didnt want to be saddled with a vehicle that was associated with something so awful, Filipos said. When you own a vehicle like that, you are advertising for that company.Elon Musk appears to give fascist-style salute after Trump inauguration videoFilipos is part of a growing movement of Tesla enthusiasts who are now turning their backs on the company selling their cars, dropping their leases and getting rid of Tesla stock. Many say that, while they still love the cars, they cant square the CEOs politics and behavior with their own. Musk is synonymous with Tesla; his vehicles, the Cybertruck in particular, are his calling cards. The Guardian spoke with three people who offloaded their Teslas in protest of Musk over the last month alone. All said they did so explicitly because of Musks salutes during the inauguration. Another person who spoke with the Guardian on the condition of anonymity started the process of dropping her lease on the day of the salute with an email to Tesla reading: Your boss is a Nazi.Across Reddit, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook, dozens of posts are popping up with people saying they are also getting rid of their Teslas. Some have added photos of themselves flipping the bird as a goodbye gesture to their cars. Still more have posted receipts to prove they sold their Tesla stock, saying they didnt want to be associated with the Maga-happy CEO.When you own a vehicle like that, you are advertising for that companyOne celebrity Tesla owner has even taken part. Singer Sheryl Crow posted a video of herself to Instagram waving goodbye to her vehicle as it was hauled off in a flatbed truck on Valentines Day. Her caption read: There comes a time when you have to decide who you are willing to align with. So long Tesla. She said she was donating the sale proceeds to National Public Radio because it was under threat by President Musk.Musk, the worlds richest man, has wholeheartedly thrown his weight behind Trump. He donated $288m to his presidential campaign and uses X, the social media platform he owns, as a megaphone to tout the new administrations policies and goad anyone who disagrees. This support has earned Musk a coveted position heading the unofficial department of government efficiency (Doge), which is tasked with cutting federal spending. His government overhaul has been so sweeping that Democrats such as Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer have called Doge an unelected shadow government.Musk and Tesla did not return requests for comment. The CEO responded to backlash over his fascist-style salute with jokes and memes on X.No Swastikars: protesters across the US lambast MuskThe Tesla selloffs come amid nationwide US protests against Musk and his actions. Protesters have gathered outside Tesla showrooms in cities including New York, Seattle and Kansas City, and in towns as small as West Chester, Pennsylvania. In San Francisco, roughly 100 people descended on the citys Tesla showroom in late February chanting: Hey hey, ho ho, Elon Musk has got to go. They unfurled a banner reading Musk must GO showing a boot kicking a swastika and carried signs saying No Swastikars, an apparent new nickname for Teslas. Passing cars drove by honking enthusiastically.Several anti-Musk websites and social media accounts have also popped up. Tesla Takedown encourages people to protest. One of the organizers is actor and activist Alex Winter, the titular Bill from Bill & Teds Excellent Adventure. A TikTok account called Cybertruck hunters has also surfaced. Its filled with posts of people projecting anti-Musk videos onto the massive rear bumpers of Cybertrucks. The Instagram account Everyone Hates Elon is distributing stickers that say, Dont buy a Swasticar and sending out posters for people to plaster around their cities that say Goes from 0 to 1939 in 3 seconds with a picture of Musk doing the Nazi salute. Tesla showrooms and individual cars are also being vandalized, according to Wired. One Cybertruck in downtown Manhattan was spraypainted with a swastika last week.Seen today in Lower Manhattan... pic.twitter.com/9a92yfAm2Y Molly Ploofkins (@Mollyploofkins) February 22, 2025This anti-Musk protest movement started to percolate over the summer, when Tesla owners began to put bumper stickers on their own cars that said: I bought this before Elon went crazy.Rebekkah, who lives in the Tampa area and is only going by her first name for fear of retribution, said she started looking for one of those bumper stickers to put on her Model 3 after Musk endorsed Trump for president in July.It was just the shame of driving it around and getting out of it, she said. The potential optics that we were supporting him.Rebekkah bought the car in 2020 because she was passionate about the climate crisis and wanted an electric vehicle, she said. She was initially thrilled with her Tesla, but like Filipos, things started to sour as she watched the Musk-Trump alliance grow. Then came Musks two-time inauguration day salute.I was dead set on selling the car after that, Rebekkah said, adding that her grandmother was a Holocaust survivor. Rebekkah said she called her mom and told her: Im selling the Nazi mobile. The car was gone within days. We havent looked back since, Rebekkah said. She put down a deposit for a Rivian.Tesla owners sell at a loss: I happily paid $4,000 to get rid of that carRon likewise decided to sell his Tesla after Musks salute, even though he knew he would lose money. He bought his first Tesla in 2020, a gray Model 3 Performance, and loved it from the minute he test drove it. In 2023, he upgraded to a Model Y. Ron said he hadnt really followed Musk at the time, but last summer, he began to pay attention to the billionaires increasing involvement in politics.I started looking back at some of the things he said, and I started to feel guilty that I didnt do more research beforehand, said Ron, who lives in Los Angeles and is only going by his first name for fear of retribution. I always just assumed he was a quirky, nerdy, you know, space-first exploration technology type of guy.As time progressed and Musk became more outspoken, Ron said he grew increasingly embarrassed to drive the Tesla. I felt like I was driving a billboard that supported his endeavors and his thoughts and ideologies, he said.In the beginning of February, Ron swapped out his Model Y, which only had 15,000 miles, for another electric vehicle, a Hyundai Ioniq. He still owed thousands of dollars on his Tesla. Online trading sites and dealerships were driving hard bargains and ultimately he lost $4,000.I felt like I was driving a billboard that supported his endeavors and his thoughts and ideologiesI guess you could say I happily paid $4,000 to get rid of that car, Ron said. Thats how much I disagree with his politics.Tesla sales have plummeted over the last year. In California, the biggest US market for electric vehicles, they fell by 12%. And registrations for new Tesla vehicles fell by 11.6%, according to the California New Car Dealers Association, even as overall registrations for electric vehicles have grown in the state. Nationwide, the slump in Tesla sales marked the companys first decline in how many cars it delivered to buyers annually. Its unclear if the decrease can be fully attributed to Musk, since the electric vehicle market has seen increased competition over the past couple of years, especially out of China. In Europe, Tesla has taken an even more severe hit. In January, sales fell by 12% in Britain, 38% in Norway and 63% in France, according to the New York Times. Sales in Germany fell by 59% that month, coinciding with Musks outspoken support for the far-right alternative party AfD and with scolding Germans for focusing too much on past guilt for the Holocaust.Tesla stock flies, then plummetsIn spite of its poor sales and weak earnings reports, Teslas stock price soared in 2024 likely boosted by Musks proximity to Trump and a regulatory outlook thats friendlier than ever to the car maker. The day after the election alone, shares jumped 14%. But, as Musk has become increasingly involved in the day-to-day of the new administration, that has changed, too. Since mid-December, Teslas stock has plunged 25%.On social media, people are encouraging others to sell their Tesla stock. Reddit has threads of people posting their share sales with headlines like, Never normalize Nazis and This is my way of fighting Nazis and Im damn proud. Since inauguration day, theres been a 21% selloff of Tesla stock, according to ABC. Musk has lost more than $100bn from his personal fortune and the companys valuation has now dipped below $1tn.Filipos is one of the people who sold his stock. He first bought 40 shares in 2020, not long after he joined the Cybertruck waitlist. Over the years, that number grew to 717 shares. He planned to keep holding, but when Musk endorsed Trump last summer, Filipos changed his mind.I had to come to a reckoning, he said. Filipos didnt see Trump as standing up for the environment, and Musks endorsement was against what I perceived as the original vision for Tesla. In late July, Filipos sold all of his shares even though he knew he probably would have made more money if he held. Now, he and his wife have gotten rid of their Model 3 too and are free of all things Tesla. We feel lighter not being saddled with a symbol of hate, he said.
