    cgshares.com
Alireza Akhbariarabani, a Senior Generalist and 3D Animator, has paid tribute to Blizzards legendary Warcraft III and its original 2009 intro, presenting a great recreation of the 15-year-old cinematic described by the artist himself as a remaster.Created as a side project, the recreations main goal was to honor the past while advancing Alirezas artistic skills and to thank the original creators for inspiring his generation. The best part is, the creator utilized 3ds Max to set up his remaster, the very same software Blizzard used 15 years ago, along with a suite of other tools such as ZBrush, Substance 3D Painter, Houdini, Terragen, Arnold, Ornatrix, and Nuke. The Warcraft III opening cinematic was a defining moment for me, comments Alireza. When I first saw it, I was captivated by its storytelling, atmosphere, and artistry. It left such a lasting impression that I dreamed of one day remastering it myself. I finally started that journey, not just as a tribute to the incredibly talented team behind the original, but as a way to challenge myself.Besides the cinematic itself, the author has also shared a video breakdown showcasing the production process behind the project:For comparison, heres the original intro from Blizzard:You can check out more of Alirezas projects by clicking this link. www.gamespot.com
Given the sustained success of Monster Hunter World, we can't say we're shocked that Monster Hunter Wilds is a hit out of the gate. It's already Capcom's fastest-selling game after only a few days, and that popularity is having an unexpected side effect. Apparently Monster Hunter Wilds players in Japan have been very eager to get some cheese naan after their characters ate the dish during the game.Via Automaton, Monster Hunter Wilds players in Japan have been sharing posts on social media about their newfound appreciation for the Nepalese and Indian flatbread with melted cheese stuffed inside. The game itself has plenty of food options for the characters to enjoy, but one of the scenes set in the Kunafa village seems to have set off this craze for cheese naan.Salam Namaste Tokyo, a Nepalese restaurant in Japan, has even shared an amusing video about what happens when an order for 99 cheese naans comes in. • Amid Civilization 7's Ongoing Issues, A New Patch Launches Today Without Planned Event
    www.gamespot.com
Firaxis is focused on quality-of-life improvements with Sid Meier's Civilization VII, resulting in a previously announced in-game event being pushed back to a future date. As such, it's not included alongside the new patch rolling out today, which brings UI improvements and the reintroduction of cross-play between PC and consoles to the strategy game.Called Update 1.1.0, the Civilization website notes that the planned Natural Wonder Battle event has been "postponed to a later update." Instead, Firaxis is using this patch to address player feedback. That includes "UI adjustments," major alterations to "the Modern Age's Cultural Legacy Path and Victory," and a "balance pass on several Mementos." The Bermuda Triangle will also be a new discoverable natural wonder.Civilization 7 - Ideologies Guide (Democracy, Fascism, And Communism)See MoreCivilization VII quality-of-life fixes have been targeted by Firaxis even before the strategy game's full launch (there was an early-access release). • Assassin's Creed Shadows Dev Teases a Massive Power Struggle Between Factions
    gamerant.com
Factions are nothing new in Assassin's Creed. Before the Assassin Brotherhood was established in 1090, there was the Babylonian Brotherhood, the Shields of Mars, and most importantly, the Hidden Ones (among others). Before the Templars became public in 1129, there was the Cult of Kosmos and the Order of the Ancients. By its timelines, Assassin's Creed Shadows players should be contending with Assassins and Templars, and maybe they are. The main group of enemies shown for Assassin's Creed Shadows so far are the Shinbakufu, which at first blush may seem like a Templar off-shoot, but Ubisoft recently cast doubt on that.

  • Split Fiction Review
    gamerant.com
With games like A Way Out and It Takes Two, Hazelight Studios has established itself as the premiere developer of co-op video games. Instead of slapping co-op on as an extra feature, Hazelight builds its games entirely around co-op play, opening the door to genuinely unique and fresh experiences that simply can't be found in single-player titles. Split Fiction is Hazelight's latest effort, and it follows in the footsteps of its predecessors, delivering yet another thrilling adventure that will go down as one of the best co-op games ever made. The bar was set incredibly high by Game of the Year winner It Takes Two, but Split Fiction has managed to meet it, if not clear it.

  • Designing a Boss Battle
    gamedev.net
Last week I was designated the task of making a boss battle for our game. At first I was unsure of whether or not I would be able to do this. It seemed like a big task and as an unexperienced game developer I did not know where to even start. However, I decided to just start and I would learn a lot by just trying and by following tutorials on YouTube. There was a really well put together playlist of videos that explained the process of making boss fights and so I began by watching through man

  • Streets of Rage 4 devs channel Golden Axe, D&D in new beat-em-up Absolum
    www.polygon.com
After their success delivering one of the best beat-em-ups of the past decade with Streets of Rage 4, developer Guard Crush Games is working on something original. The studio announced its new game Absolum, which Guard Crush and co-developer Supamonks describe as an action-RPG rogue-em-up that channels classic fantasy brawlers like Segas Golden Axe and Capcoms Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara.Absolum will be published by Dotemu in 2025 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Windows PC. Its the first original IP from Dotemu, which is best known for revivals like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredders Revenge and the upcoming Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound.Dotemu, Guard Crush, and Supamonks say Absolum will feature intricate, refined combat and maximum replayability, thanks to unlockable items, quests, branching pathways, and permanent character upgrades. The entirety of Absolum will be playable solo or in two-player local and online co-op.Our ultimate goal is to fundamentally evolve the genres potential in a way thats unique from the traditional brawlers weve all come to love, said Dotemu CEO Cyrille Imbert in a statement. The story of Absolum involves a quartet of rebels who seek to depose the dictatorial Sun King Azra, who has either enslaved or slaughtered all of the wizards of Talamh in the wake of a magical cataclysmic event. On Tuesday, in Absolums reveal trailer, the games developers revealed two of the playable rebels who seek to destroy Azra: Galandra, an agile, sword-clad fighter suited for close-quarters combat; and Karl, a tanklike dwarf commanding devastating punches as well as a rifle to foil foes from a distance. The trailer offers a brief glimpse of two more heroes, one of which appears to be a floating, staff-wielding wizard and another that has the proportions of a classic thief archetype. The developers said in a press briefing that each playable character will have their own unique skill set, personality, and motivations.Absolums first trailer offers a long look at animation and production studio Supamonks hand-drawn visuals, which are quite distinct from the look of past Dotemu-made belt-scroller brawlers. The developers and publisher said to expect a longer look at gameplay sometime this spring another look that will no doubt reveal more of its playable cast.
