Oh hey, this game on Steam has an update! I wonder what it does? *No Patch Notes*
Kalentan Member Oct 25, 2017 50,203 I feel like this happens pretty often, a game gets an update and there is no patch notes with it. Sometimes they post it on their socials, but sometimes not. Anyone else find this frustrating at times? Lol Like I don't need an entire chapter of patch notes, but even just a small info about the general idea of what the patch does would be nice lol  Wrexis Member Nov 4, 2017 28,754 Which is worse, no patch notes, or "Misc bug fixes"?   NovumVeritas Member Oct 26, 2017 10,873 Berlin Kalentan said: Anyone else find this frustrating at times? Lol Click to expand... Click to shrink... Yup. I like to read patch notes, and it's sad they're often missing. Good example would be the Tomb Raider Remastered games.   OP OP Kalentan Member Oct 25, 2017 50,203 Wrexis said: Which is worse, no patch notes, or "Misc bug fixes"? Click to expand... Click to shrink... I think none lol. I'd take even just a small thing that says that it's just bug fixes.  Zombegoast Member Oct 30, 2017 15,682 "Updated the localization files"   Bansai Teyvat Traveler Member Oct 28, 2017 13,864 This should be mandatory on any platform, tell me what exactly are you changing/fixing.   LayZboy Member Dec 17, 2024 383 Or maybe it's a cache update, or maybe steamworkshop is updating something. Sometimes steam will tell you, sometimes not!  deadfolk Member Oct 25, 2017 6,435 At least it's better than PlayStation where they just totally removed the ability for devs to add them.   texhnolyze Shinra Employee Member Oct 25, 2017 25,899 Indonesia Yeah, publishers are random like that. Sometimes there's patch notes posted as intended, sometimes they only posted the notes in the community hubs, and sometimes they never posted anything.  MrBS "This guy are sick" Member Oct 27, 2017 6,691 Zombegoast said: "Updated the localization files" Click to expand... I love reading them.   Super Craig Member Oct 27, 2017 792 I love seeing the Scheduled list fill up with EA and/or Ubisoft games. Obviously some launcher-related bullshit.   elenarie Game Developer Verified Jun 10, 2018 11,391 Patch notes are not even on point 100% of the time anyways. It is just a rough summary of what's going in. For a given AAA title with 20 entries in the patch notes, there likely have been 200+ checkins. Reading Perforce history and grabbing what you think is important to mention publicly is a very fun activity.  ProdigyZA Member Jun 9, 2024 1,300 deadfolk said: At least it's better than PlayStation where they just totally removed the ability for devs to add them. Take today for example, I login to steam for the first time in 3 days and every single Ubisoft game has a 251mb patch. That's like 15 games. These same 15 games has a similar sized patch about a week ago. So annoying   Rosebud Two Pieces Member Apr 16, 2018 50,519 MrBS said: 48GB update incoming lol Click to expand... Click to shrink... Now that makes me pissed lol. Stop making me download the game again every week   Xando Member Oct 28, 2017 36,495 If there is anything worth mentioning they usually put up a post with patch notes. Don't really care about getting spammed for every 5 bugs they patch.  teed Member Aug 25, 2023 991 Kalentan said: I feel like this happens pretty often, a game gets an update and there is no patch notes with it. This was really bad with Rise of the Ronin (original PS5 release). It's as if the role of organising it (and for social media presence in general) got dropped somewhere between the dev team, Koei Tecmo, and Sony. I thought you played that on release, and I just went back to check the OT and your last few posts in there were trying to find patch notes lol  Stallion Free Member Oct 29, 2017 1,361 Kris1977 said: It annoys me no end. They should still note that, but they don't.   DanteMenethil Member Oct 25, 2017 8,904 elenarie said: Patch notes are not even on point 100% of the time anyways. Yes that's why they are called notes, not perforce logs.   JoJoBae Member Oct 25, 2017 1,917 Layton, UT I always appreciate the devs that choose to do patch notes. But yeah when an especially old game gets a large patch out of nowhere and there are no notes? Obnoxious. Can we also talk about Steam just scheduling arbitrary times and dates for updates sometimes? Like that last Blue Prince update was scheduled for May 1st for some reason.  Ashes of Dreams Fallen Guardian of Unshakable Resolve Member May 22, 2020 19,237 Not having detailed patch notes bothers me a lot. But I don't know which bothers me more. Nothing or patch notes worded like "Changed elements related to X". Like TELL ME WHAT YOU CHANGED. I still don't know what they did to the Cid segment in FFVI Pixel Remastered and it bothers me so much. Just fucking tellll meeeeee.  DuckSauce Powered by Friendship™ Member Aug 19, 2023 1,671 I find the community discussions to be the best place for patch notes, even ones that are provided don't always include every detail.
