But the instruction manual part really kills my vibe. I know tossing it aside will almost surely lead to failure, but I hate reading them anyway. In fact, I did read the operation manual for the Ninja Slushi, and I still managed to screw up my first batch of slush. (You can read about that experience in my review of the Ninja Slushi.) To help you avoid the shame of a ruined slush, not to mention reading the tedious instructions, I've assembled this step by step guide on operating your new Ninja Slushi, from set-up to clean-up.Notes on sugar and alcoholBefore getting started, know that what you put into the machine will directly affect your success. Specifically, the liquid you’re using must have at least 4% sugar content. If it doesn’t, it will become too icy, and the machine will have trouble scraping the frozen mixture out of the evaporator cylinder. (You can’t use artificial sweeteners or sugar substitutes either, unless you want to fall down a rabbit hole of allulose and xanthan gum and brightly hued, sugar-free prepackaged slushie mixes.)Ninja provides a little chart indicating the minimum amount of sugar you need for a particular serving size. Make a simple syrup by mixing the amount of sugar with an equal amount of water and microwaving it until warm. Stir the mixture until the sugar dissolves. This simple syrup can be added to your greater recipe mixture before pouring it into the Ninja Slushi (make sure to account for the water from your simple syrup in your overall calculations).  Even if you messed up and froze a cold brew mixture without any sugar by accident, you can fix it. (Maybe I know this first hand? Maybe I don’t.) The machine will stop if it detects a problem with your sugar content during the churning process. This is your chance to make a simple syrup with the correct amount of sugar and pour it in to the mix. Don’t add sugar directly to the chamber mid-freeze—it may have trouble dissolving into the partially frozen drink.Alcohol has a similar stipulation—a minimum of 2.8% and a maximum of 16% alcohol must be present to make a spiked slush that will freeze properly. Again, there's a helpful chart to guide you on your journey, but once you know these rules and abide by them, the machine will play nice.Now, let's make that slush.1. Set up the Ninja Slushi Credit: Allie Chanthorn Reinmann Like dishware, bakeware, and anything else from a dusty factory, it’s a good idea to take apart the Slushi and clean the parts with soapy water before you put food in it. That includes the drip tray, the main vessel, the condensation catch, and the auger (that spiral thingy). The silver evaporator is not removable, so just wipe it down with a soft cloth. Dry everything thoroughly.It’s no small appliance, so make sure you clear off a nice section of your countertop. There are vents on the sides and back, so give those areas room to breathe too. Put the parts back in their respective areas. The main vessel sits into the bail handle in the back, as you pull it backward. It won’t make a clicking sound, but it will sit there securely secure. Once reassembled, plug in the machine.2. Pour in the liquid mixture Credit: Allie Chanthorn Reinmann The fun part is almost here! Open the hatch on the top of the main clear container. Pour the mixture in, all in one go. Depending on how your Ninja Slushi is situated on the countertop, this might be a little hard to do gracefully. I recommend using a pitcher or a bottle—any container with a somewhat narrow pour spout—for more precision. 3. Power up Credit: Allie Chanthorn Reinmann Click the power button on the control panel. All of the features should light up. On the left side, you’ll see the presets. Select the one that best matches the mixture you made: a regular soda slushie would be the “Slush” preset, an alcoholic slushie would be “Spiked Slush,” a coffee frappé would be the “Frappé” setting, and so on for milkshakes and frozen juices. This time, I decided to make a chocolate milkshake. Press the button you need and the right side panel should automatically light up with the number of bars that indicate the temperature. The machine should start churning, so all you have to do is wait. Note that this is the stage where the Ninja Slushi will alert you if you did not add enough sugar or if there’s a problem with the alcohol content. You know how to add more sugar, and more alcohol can go directly in the machine if needed—but if you added too much alcohol to start, you need to fix that by pouring in some water to dilute the mixture. If the tank is already at the Max Fill line, dispense some mixture before adding water to dilute it. 4. Dispense and adjust consistency  Credit: Allie Chanthorn Reinmann Once the Slushi has finished the setting cycle, it’ll play you a little ditty to signal it’s ready, but the auger will keep spinning. Grab a glass and hold it under the spout. Pull the handle toward you and hold it to dispense your slushie. The handle doesn’t have a locking mechanism while dispensing, so you have to keep pressure on it or it’ll spring shut. If you’re happy with your slushie’s consistency, hooray! If you aren’t, you can make it thicker or thinner by manually pressing the up arrow (for a thicker, colder slushie) or the down arrow (for a warmer, more liquid-y slushie). The machine will alert you when the new temperature has been reached.5. Clean everything thoroughlyAfter the party is over, you’ll need to clean up your Ninja Slushi. If there is still slushie left in the container, dispense it all into a bowl or container. You have to do this with the preset running because it’ll push the mixture down and out of the spout. Discard it or save it to slush another day. Turn off the preset and select the rinse button. Have a big container handy—I use a 4-quart pot as my helper of choice. Pour hot water all the way up to the Max Fill line, then put the pot under the spout and slowly dispense all of the water. Liquid comes out way faster than slush, so only pull the dispensing handle toward you maybe 30%. Once all of the water is out, stop the rinse cycle by pressing the rinse button again, then press the power button to turn the machine off. Unplug it and disassemble the same parts you washed earlier. I hand wash them with warm soapy water, but if you have a dishwasher, the directions say you can toss all the parts in there. Wipe down the evaporator with a warm, damp cloth. Dry everything off before assembling the pieces again for storage, or to make your next slushie.

Eufy uses rugged DIN-style barrel connectors that are well protected from the elements.Michael Brown/Foundry According to TechHive’s IP code guide, that means the power supply is only protected against particulate matter larger than 1 millimeter, but that it can withstand water sprayed from any direction. Given that, you’ll want to ensure the power supply is at least plugged into an outlet with a bubble cover to protect it from rain. The lights have an operating temperature range of -4 degrees Fahrenheit to 104F. Installation and setup Eufy uses barrel-type DIN connectors that are well protected from water to make each cable connection. The cable itself carries only 27 volts of electricity, so it can be buried directly in a 6-inch trench, as per the National Electrical Code (specifically, NEC 3000.5(A)). For this temporary installation, I took the easy way out and just covered it with mulch. (Pro gardening tip: mulch also happens to be the best weed deterrent for the money, provided you put it down thick enough to prevent sunlight from reaching any weed seeds in your soil). The system’s maximum cable run is about 50 feet, with each bollard spaced 9.8 feet apart. You can put the lights closer together if you’d like, but they can be no more than 9.8 feet apart. There’s an 11-inch first segment, leading from the power supply to a 13.4-foot cable that has a small puck-style on/off switch in the middle. The next segment is 4.9 feet long and goes from that cable to the first light in your run. The remaining three lights are then spaced 9.8 feet apart, as I’ve already mentioned. The first three lights connect to a T junction on the low-voltage cable, but the cable terminates in a single-ended connection; the run cannot be extended beyond four lights.Michael Brown/Foundry As does Philips, Eufy uses T-connectors to connect the first three lights to the run of power cable (there’s a single-ended connector at the end of the run). Unlike Philips, however, Eufy’s system cannot be extended beyond four lights—its power supply can’t handle the additional load, and the cable terminates in a single connector (not a T). If 50 feet isn’t enough to run the length of your walkway, you’ll need to buy another 4-light kit and power supply. But that alone won’t solve your distance issue, because you shouldn’t rely on even an outdoor-rated extension cord for permanent lighting—and you certainly shouldn’t bury such a high-voltage (120V) cord in the ground. These are some of the reasons I like the Philips Hue approach so much. You can buy larger or smaller power supplies, depending on how many lights you intend to deploy, and Philips Hue cables and connectors are much more versatile when it comes to overall length, the distance between lights, and branching. Using the Eufy Outdoor Pathway Lights E10 This inline on/off button will be useful for those times when you don’t have your phone and you’re out of range of a smart speaker.Michael Brown/Foundry You’ll want to plug in all the lights and add them to either the Eufy app or the Eufy Life app before you place them permanently, just in case you encounter any defects that would prompt you to return the kit. This will also give you an opportunity to install any firmware updates that might be available. The Eufy app is used primarily for Eufy security cameras, smart locks, video doorbells, and its security system, but you can use it to set up and later control at least some of the features of the Eufy Outdoor Pathway Lights. You’ll need to use the Eufy Life app, however, to access all the features of Eufy’s smart lighting products. You control Eufy’s pathlights over a Bluetooth connection, but you’ll want to use Wi-Fi to get the full value out of the product, including its AI features.Michael Brown/Foundry You can use either app to customize the color or the white color temperature of the lights or to choose from dozens of lighting scenes based on holidays, seasons, emotions, events, or even flags or the weather. An AI feature, meanwhile, will generate custom lighting scenes based on up to 100-character phrases you type into the app. Some of the phrases the app suggests are: “Today is my birthday;” “My wife loves me;” and “Ocean waves at sunset.” You can use your phone’s camera to capture text for this purpose, but you can’t use its mic to record phrases. This novel AI feature is mildly entertaining, but it doesn’t really add all that much value to the package. Linking Eufy’s pathlights to a Eufy security camera The most important feature you’ll want to enable in the Eufy Life app—assuming you also own one of the many Eufy security cameras that features Eufy’s WonderLink technology—is to configure one of those cameras to trigger Eufy smart lights. This capability isn’t unique to Eufy smart home products; Ring security cameras, for example, can trigger Ring smart lights, and Philips Hue security cameras can do the same with Philips Hue lights. But in all three cases, the cameras can only trigger lights made by the same manufacturer. There are workarounds—you can set up a routine in IFTTT or in the Alexa app, for example—but workarounds are never as easy as using a native app. Perhaps when security cameras become a category in the Matter standard, that limitation will fall away. If you also own Eufy security cameras, video doorbells, or certain other Eufy products, you can use the Eufy Life app to have those devices trigger the pathlights to light up with your choice of scenes. Michael Brown/Foundry In any event, you’ll click on the LuminoLink button at the bottom right-hand side of the Eufy Life app. This will open an IFTTT-like configuration screen that lets you choose devices to serve as triggers and devices that will perform actions when your defined conditions are met. Within the Eufy Life app, I configured a Eufy S330 security camera to trigger the Eufy Outdoor Pathway Lights to turn on a “Welcome” scene at 100 percent brightness when the camera detects a person in its field of view between sunset and sunrise. You can choose from dozens of such lighting scenes or create your own. This review is part of TechHive’s in-depth coverage of the best smart lighting. You can also set up a trigger that sets the pathlights to flashing red if the camera detects a person, but while the camera and the Eufy Homebase 3 NAS box that works with it can discern between friends, family, neighbors, and strangers, you can’t restrict the light’s triggered behavior to when a stranger is detected. Should you buy Eufy Outdoor Pathway Lights E10? The Eufy Outdoor Pathway Lights E10 is one of the better smart lighting solutions out there. The lights are rugged and well protected from the elements, and they produce very good quality light in colors and white color temperatures. And its ability to link to Eufy cameras is a very good feature, although it would be even more useful if it could trigger a lighting behavior when the camera detects a stranger. But a power supply that’s limited to supporting four lights and 50 feet of wire is only enough for a relatively short path. The maximum distance between each bollard is another drawback. If money is no object, Philips Hue landscape lighting is a far superior alternative. That said, I don’t know anyone for whom money is no barrier to outfitting their home out with the absolute best smart products on the market, and a single Philips Hue Calla light and power supply costs more than a 4-pack of these Eufy lights.

It launched in 2013 alongside a TV show tie-in with the same name, set on a future Earth following an alien invasion—during which the planet was aggressively terraformed. Both the game and the show were a mix of grungy post-apocalyptic western and futuristic sci-fi. Only a couple of years later, the show was cancelled, but the MMO persevered. And it stuck around for a while, until 2021, when the servers were shut down. Defiance was never one of the heavy-hitters, and I haven't thought about it for a good long while, but it looks like it's been living in enough folks' heads that it's making a comeback. Fawkes, "an indie studio and publisher dedicated to reviving treasured titles", has decided that Defiance fits its brief, and has set itself the task of bringing the game back to life. It acquired the rights to both the original 2013 version of the game and the relaunched Defiance 2050 version that appeared in 2018. Defiance will make its comeback in April, with Fawkes launching the original 2013 version of the MMO. Its plan is to work with the community, starting small, with a PC launch, and then growing based on feedback. I don't think it was the only factor - Fatal Fury just isn't a big deal anymore in general - but it absolutely contributed to the game crashing and burning.  jack. But one fact is the game peaked higher during the beta than during launch on steam. That means less people returned for the launch of all the people that tried the beta usually already more hardcore. (steamcharts only) Usually launch will have higher numbers than the beta. It also performed worse than their previous game kof 15. It's already had to play second fiddle somewhat to King of Fighters, its existence now was expressly going to be in large part fueled by the legacy of people supporting the company and the franchise. It's because of that reason you might be able to make a genuine argument that the Ronaldo / Ganacci cameos did more harm than good. We aint representative of the overall market, but we are massive fans of Mark of the Wolves and it was probably my most hyped game of this year before that. I've been waiting so long for a Mark of the Wolves follow up and they went and did that with it so I just didn't even consider buying it. I think there's also just so many great fighting games right now that you can't afford to fuck up your PR even slightly. Would some of us have maybe broke on our morals and picked it up if we couldn't easily just go play SF6 or Strive or Granblue or Season 1 of Tekken 8? Yes, the gameplay and online functionality is what gives a fighting game long term staying power in the FGC, but presentation and characters with very engaging visual designs is what will draw in people who are only casually interested in fighting game imo. City of the Wolves isn't a very attractive game either graphically or artistically imo. Even the menus aren't that attractive or immediately intuitive. The massive Saudi investment went into putting controversial celebrities into a game where their inclusion made zero sense, while the game visually looks like it was made on a smaller budget. I'm not saying the game needs to look like SF6 or Tekken 8, but even 2XKO looks extremely attractive visually (independent of being based on an extremely popular franchise). Separately, I wouldn't be surprised if the initial beta for the game turned people off as well. Most people are just not going to be aware of the Saudi ties... nor would I expect most people to care, sadly (see: WWE and other huge media that has Saudi ties still thriving). Game's presentation is going to strike most people as "budget," and then even if you look past the quality of the presentation, you still have to contend with subjective style preferences -- and I feel like there's plenty of anecdotal evidence that SNK did not land on a winning aesthetic for a lot of people here. Also, the amount of content on offer in this game doesn't seem like it's going to grab general audiences at $60 -- maybe for lower price than that, but not for the now-fading $60 full retail standard. The more "enthusiast" audience that was going to buy this game no matter what isn't out here really singing it's praises hard enough to convince casuals that do research to go in on it, either. There's a lot of coverage that's trying to do explainers on the guest characters, complaining about the quality of the rollback, and criticizing/cautioning the non-competitive content featured in the game. It just wasn't a winning combo. And this was a sequel I wanted for several decades. I'm not disappointed -- it's 2025 and SNK didn't make a 2025-mass-audience-caliber title. Simple as that, IMO. Fatal Fury was positioned as a long awaited sequel to what has become sort of a cult classic type game in Garou. Click to shrink... i think the games art style looks great too. but for the casual player coming from sf6 looking at fatal fury it does not look great. i have seen a lot of complains online about how this game look cheap/low budget. the background stages look awful. i completed eost mode once and never want to play it again. it is very boring/repetitive.

The aftermath As soon as the verdict was read, Meta celebrated the outcome as “an important step forward for privacy and security.” The ruling capped a legal battle that stretched over five years, with the court also ordering NSO to hand over the code for Pegasus and its other spyware tools to WhatsApp. With such a long and sprawling case, it’s no surprise that the transcript runs over 1,000 pages. Some of its contents, however, might raise a few eyebrows. One piece of information, however, goes to show the firm’s fearlessness (let’s call it that) when it comes to targeting users with its spyware. As Lorenzo Franceschi-Bicchierai writes: Following the spyware attack, WhatsApp filed its lawsuit against NSO Group in November 2019. Despite the active legal challenge, the spyware maker kept targeting the chat app’s users, according to NSO Group’s research and development vice president Tamir Gazneli.
