The Federal Trade Commission has postponed enforcement of its consumer-friendly "click to cancel" rule from May 14 to July 14, giving businesses two additional months to comply. The regulation requires companies to make subscription cancellations as straightforward as the sign-up process, prohibiting practices like forcing customers who subscribed online to navigate through chatbots or call centers to cancel. The rule, established under former Democratic Chair Lina Khan, unsurprisingly has garnered support from consumer advocates while facing legal opposition from industry groups. A coalition including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and organizations representing major telecom and media companies -- Charter Communications, Comcast, Disney Entertainment, and Warner Bros. Hackers have been stealing Coinbase customer information by bribing the company’s overseas support agents for access. The scheme affects a "small subset of customers," the popular cryptocurrency platform said on Thursday. "Their aim was to gather a customer list they could contact while pretending to be Coinbase—tricking people into handing over their crypto,” the company wrote in a blog post. Fortunately, the hackers had no access to user passwords, two-factor authentication codes, or the private keys for any cryptocurrency accounts. Still, in some cases, the cybercriminals successfully phished affected customers using stolen data, which included names, addresses, phones, email addresses, the last four digits of Social Security numbers, “masked bank account numbers,” government ID images such as driver’s license, along with balance snapshots and transaction histories. Unsuspecting victims then sent their cryptocurrency to the scammers, believing them to be official Coinbase representatives. In addition, the hackers even tried to extort Coinbase itself, demanding a $20 million payment from the cryptocurrency company to cover up the incident. However, Coinbase refused to pay and instead disclosed the hacking activity to warn users.    The scheme risks endangering customers who regularly use Coinbase for cryptocurrency transactions. “Less than 1% of our monthly transacting users had their records accessed,” CEO Brian Armstrong said in a video, without mentioning a firm number. Recommended by Our EditorsIn some good news, Coinbase plans on reimbursing users who fell for the phishing attempts. The company is also bolstering its security around customer support to prevent a repeat. “We’re actually relocating some of our customer support operations as a result of this,” Armstrong added. Coinbase is also offering a $20 million reward for any information that leads to the arrest of the culprits. “For these would-be extortionists, or anyone seeking to harm Coinbase customers, know that we will prosecute you and bring you to justice,” Armstrong said.Still, the hackers could use the stolen data to commit identity theft and other malicious schemes against the impacted users. Hence, victims should take measures to protect themselves. Coinbase says it already sent alert notices to affected customers, though details on the reimbursement process are scant. For now, the blog post merely says: “Coinbase will voluntarily reimburse retail customers who mistakenly sent funds to the scammer as a direct result of this incident prior to the date of this post, following a review to confirm the facts.”In the meantime, the company says it's working with law enforcement to ID the scammers.

Chatbot upgrades, hot and fresh. The latest versions of OpenAI’s multimodal GPT AI models are now rolling out to ChatGPT. OpenAI announced on Wednesday that GPT-4.1 will be available across all paid ChatGPT account tiers and can now be accessed by Plus, Pro, or Team users under the model picker dropdown menu. Free users are excluded from the rollout, but OpenAI says that Enterprise and Edu users will get access “in the coming weeks.” GPT-4o mini, the more affordable and efficiency-focused model that OpenAI launched last year, is also being replaced with GPT-4.1 mini as the default option in ChatGPT for all users, including free accounts. Users on paid accounts will also see GPT-4o mini replaced by GPT-4.1 mini in the model picker options.  Both GPT-4.1 and GPT‑4.1 mini are optimized for coding tasks and instruction following, and outperform GPT‑4o and GPT‑4o mini “across the board,” according to OpenAI. Both of the new models support a one million context token window — the amount of text, images, or videos in a prompt that an AI model can process — that greatly surpasses GPT-4o’s 128,000-token limit. OpenAI says that speed improvements also make GPT-4.1 more appealing for everyday coding tasks compared to the powerful OpenAI o3 & o4-mini reasoning models it introduced in April. GPT-4.1 and GPT-4.1 mini were made available to developers last month, alongside the GPT-4.1 nano model, which OpenAI described as its “smallest, fastest, and cheapest” offering to date. GPT-4.1 Nano is absent from this model rollout announcement, and it’s unclear when — or if — it’ll be generally available in ChatGPT.

After Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link was canceled earlier this week, fans joked that within it was the most information we’ve gotten on the development of Kingdom Hearts 4 since it was revealed in an announcement trailer three years ago. Square Enix said it is “hard at work” on Kingdom Hearts 4, which will continue Sora, Donald, and Goofy’s adventures in a new story arc.The same day that it announced Missing Link’s cancellation, Square Enix casually dropped several new screenshots of Kingdom Hearts 4, causing the fandom to leap for joy. There’s so much to break down in these images that there’s enough to do a deep dive (pun intended) on all of them. Let’s take a look.Image: Square EnixThe above screenshot shows humanoid Heartless that aren’t Neo Heartless — they kinda look like Sora with that hair — but are also more human, maybe because they’re based on Quadratum humans? There are more new Heartless in the back rocking fists the shape of shields. The Form Change ability for the keyblade we saw from the trailer (Are those stars paopu fruit? Are these chains... chains of memories?) is being used to deal with the new group of Heartless instead of using it to travel as previously shown.According to Tetsuya Nomura, a new Build mechanic in the command menu (which is themed after Quadratum) will allow Sora to scrap and rebuild things. There’s also a Japanese-language version of this exact moment posted on the Japanese Kingdom Hearts social media account that shows it from another angle. In this image, we can see a third creature with long legs, a bell-shaped waist, and a long neck with a spike protruding from it. It looks more like the Pokémon Magearna and Alolan Exeggutor than a Heartless.Image: Square EnixTheGamersJoint (one of the best Kingdom Hearts YouTubers) noticed that the health and MP UI have changed to move the EX Gauge from on top of the MP bar to curve around the health bar, similar to the original Kingdom Hearts interface. He also notes that the EX gauge will most likely be renamed, as Square Enix usually does, often using EX as a placeholder. Fun fact: Sora has a smartwatch on! What does it do? No one knows.Strelitzia from Kingdom Hearts Cross Union is shown, which showcases an improved character model compared to she looked in the Kingdom Hearts 4 reveal trailer. Also, phones make a return to the series since Kingdom Hearts 3’s introduction of Gummiphones, but this time it’s a rotary phone. Will whippersnappers like Sora even know what it is? We get to play as Mickey in what would appear to be a minigame (the command menu is extremely limited, leading us to believe it’s a small gameplay section). It’s been theorized this library could be within Scala ad Caelum, since Mickey was previously tasked to look into the Foretellers from Cross Union last we saw him. The next image showcases what would appear to be a Darkside Heartless from the original trailer, albeit with a new design that includes wings and an even larger presence. But there are two forms of light rushing toward it. Could it be our hero joined alongside another? Yozora perhaps? Only time will tell.The next photo shows Sora standing in the street in the dark, with sparkles surrounding him on the ground. Some believe the sparkles to be rain, but it could also be broken glass from the surrounding cars following a battle. In the distance is a bright light, which suggests things haven’t settled down in the streets. The last image looks to be from this same scene, but from the perspective of Sora, as the light in the distance illuminates his face.Although there’s no release date or news on a new trailer, Square Enix promises it’s hard at work developing Kingdom Hearts 4. (And with D&D minis you're spending that much and still getting garbage.) Like, I used to play Heroscape, and the Master Set with 30 miniatures and a shitton of terrain was only $40. The rebooted version that came out last year is 20 unpainted miniatures and like half the terrain for $125... or the version with painted minis for $225. It's crazy. While Fallout 76 might be in a decent state today, the game had a famously terrible launch with a host of issues not only in-game, but out of the game too with controversies surrounding the quality of its Collector’s Edition items. In an interview with VideoGamer, former studio design lead Dan Nanni spoke about how the game’s development team was feeling as it shipped the game and started work on its expansion. For context, Nanni worked on Fallout 76 as part of Escalation Studios, which would eventually become Bethesda Game Studios Dallas. During the game’s development before its launch, the development team was split into groups. While the main team worked continued working on the base release of Fallout 76, Nanni and a group of other developers started to work on its Nuclear Winter expansion. Interestingly, it is also worth noting that Nuclear Winter – a 52-player battle royale mode released in 2019 – has since been removed from Fallout 76. “We were trying to build expansion while the game was still being built simultaneously,” said Nanni. “So we didn’t know what the game was going to end up being. We just knew what our goal was going to be, but we were so dependent on the game being finished.” Nanni also spoke about having to work on what was ostensibly a multiplayer-only mode while the studio wasn’t even sure at the time about how the servers for Fallout 76 would work. Working on the expansion, Nanni described feeling like he would have to start getting ready for “a rough ride.” “Let’s just be completely honest: when we were told we were going to make a battle royale for Fallout 76, I think everybody was hands on heads like, ‘oh, man, here we go. This is it’. Like, you’re boarding this train and you know it’s going in a direction that you did not agree to be going into,” he explained. “So much as you knew this is going to be a rough ride. You knew that this was going to take some dedication, right, and perseverance. And you had to fight through that.” Ultimately, Nanni considers the fact that the studio was able to make a game engine that was designed for single-player RPGs be able to handle multiplayer servers as an amazing feat in itself. He also notes that behind-the-scenes accomplishments like these don’t really get acknowledged much by players. “A lot of people worked a lot of hours… totake that engine and to make it multiplayer was a feat,” Nanni said. “That itself was an amazing feat of technology, that was worth the price of entry, but you can’t sell that to a gamer. ‘Hey, look at all this work we did to make it work and it shouldn’t have worked but it did!’ You can’t sell that as a product, right? But it doesn’t matter, it still hurts.” When Fallout 76 ultimately launched to a fairly negative reception both critically and commercially, Nanni described working on Nuclear Winter at the time as “marching towards doom.” “Working on the product that’s supposed to follow that up knowing that the rumours are out there and nobody wants it, it just makes you feel like you’re marching towards doom, and it’s not a good feeling but you have to do it,” he explained. “It’s your pride, it’s your passion; you have to change your perspective, you have to change your frame of mind. You have to think what is good about this and put everything into it.” Eventually, Fallout 76 would start getting a more positive critical reception once some of its more glaring issues were fixed through regular updates. The Wastelanders expansion – which was also worked on by Nanni – would also bring in quite a bit of positive buzz around the online title. The title is still going quite strong, having kicked off its 20th season back in March. Fallout 76 is available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The game can also be played on current-gen consoles through backwards compatibility.

It is claimed to have an AnTuTu score of over 4,00,000.
