The seemingly simple pixel art style leads to complexity where water flows, acid burns, fire spreads, and cave-ins can be triggered by a single misplaced explosive.Unlike many roguelikes that focus on stat-based progression, Noita appeals to player creativity and experimentation. The game's wand crafting system is a particular highlight, allowing you to mix and match spells, modifiers, and triggers to create devastating effects or strange contraptions that alter the way the game plays with every decision. The fun of Noita is learning how to break it in delightfully chaotic ways. This customization means each run feels unique, not just because of the randomized levels, but because the tools at your disposal and the way you choose to implement them define each playthrough. Noita is deeper than it first appears, with plenty of secrets and mysteries to uncover.     Xbox 360 is coming up to its 20th anniversaryA reader looks back on the Xbox 360 era and is frustrated at how things have evolved since then, with ROG Xbox Ally and the move towards multiformat releases.
    I though the Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday was pretty good. Like Sony’s State of Play, it was mostly third party games but there was some interesting stuff there and I think overall the vibe was better than from Sony. I liked the look of High On Life 2, There Are No Ghosts At The Grand, and Cronos: The New Dawn the best but there was a lot of potentially cool games – I’d include Keeper, because it looked interestingly weird, but I don’t feel Double Fine are ever very good at gameplay.
    The biggest news out of the event was the new portable with the terrible name: Asus ROG Xbox Ally. I bet you can just imagine some parent asking that for that at shop at Christmas, to buy their kid? Not that that would ever happen because the thing’s going to be stupidly expensive.
    It seemed like a distraction, a small experiment at best, and I didn’t really pay much attention to it, especially as I already have a Steam Deck. But then today I read that Microsoft has cancelled its plans for their next gen portable and that actually this ridiculously named non-Xbox device may end up being the future of gaming for Microsoft.
    I’ve always preferred Xbox as my console as choice, probably because I was always a PC gamer before that. Although now I look back at things I have to admit that I only got the Xbox One out of brand loyalty and I wouldn’t have if I’d been thinking about it more clearly.
    By that point I was in too deep and so I bought the Xbox Series X/S out of muscle memory more than anything, wasn’t I proven to be a chump?
    What frustrates me most about Xbox at the moment is how indecisive it seems. I almost didn’t watch the Xbox Games Showcase because I knew I’d have to see Phil Spencer, or one of his goons, grinning into the camera, as if nothing is wrong. And, of course, that’s exactly what he did, ‘hinting’ about the return of Halo, as if everyone was going to be pumping the air to hear about that.

    News flash, Phil: no one cares. You’ve run that series into the ground, like all the other Xbox exclusives, to the point where they just feel old fashioned and tired. Old school fans don’t care and newer ones definitely don’t. It may sell okay at first on PlayStation 5, but only out of curiosity and as a kind of celebration that Sony has finally defeated Microsoft.
    To all extents and purposes, Xbox is now third party. The only thing that makes them not is that they still make their own console hardware but how long is that going to last? The ROG Ally is made by Asus and if Microsoft don’t make a handheld are they really going to put out a home console instead? That’s going to cost a lot of money in R&D and marketing and everything else, and I don’t know who could argue that it’s got a chance of selling more than the Xbox Series X/S.
    Phil Spencer has been talking about making a handheld for years and yet suddenly it’s not going to happen? Is there anything that is set in stone? I even heard people talking about them going back to having exclusives with the next generation, if it seemed like things were working out.
    I loved my Xbox 360, it’s still my favourite console of all time – the perfect balance between modern and retro games – but its golden era is a long time ago now, well over a decade. Xbox at the time was the new kid on the block, full of new ideas and daring to what Sony wouldn’t or couldn’t. When was the last time Xbox did anything like that? Game Pass probably, and that hasn’t worked out at all well.

    Nothing has, ever since that disastrous Xbox One reveal, and I just don’t understand how a company with basically infinite resources, and which already owns half the games industry, can be such a hopeless mess. I’m just sticking with PC from now and in the future, I’m going to pretend the Xbox 360 was my one and only console.

    Few companies in the history of capitalism have amassed as much wealth and influence as Meta.A global superpower in the information space, Meta — the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads — has a market cap of trillion at the time of writing, which for a rough sense of scale is more than the gross domestic product of Spain.In spite of its immense influence, none of its internal algorithms can be scrutinized by public watchdogs. Its host country, the United States, has largely turned a blind eye to its dealings in exchange for free use of Meta's vast surveillance capabilities.That lack of oversight coupled with Meta's near-omnipresence as a social utility has had devastating consequences throughout the world, manifesting in crises like the genocide of Muslims in Myanmar, or the systemic suppression of Palestinian rights organizations.How do you uncover the harms caused by one of the most powerful companies on earth? In the case of public violence, the evidence isn't hard to trace. However, Meta's unprecedented corporate dynasty also creates less obvious harms, which scores of scholars, researchers, and journalists are devoting entire careers to uncovering.One prominent group of said investigators is GLAAD, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, which recently released its annual report on social media safety, privacy, and expression for LGBTQ people.The report notes that Meta has undergone a "particularly extreme" ideological shift over the past year, adding harmful exceptions to its content moderation policies while disproportionately suppressing LGBTQ users and their content. The tech giant has also failed to give LGBTQ users sovereignty over their own personal data, which it collects, analyzes, and wields to generate huge profits.While Meta collects all of our data — from which it draws over 95 percent of its revenue — the practice is particularly harmful to LGBTQ users, who then have to contend with algorithmic biases, non-consensual outing, harassment, and in some countries state oppression."It's a dangerous time, certainly for trans people, who as a minority have been so ridiculously maligned, but also a dangerous time for gay people, openly bipeople, people who are different in any way," says Sarah Roberts, a UCLA professor and Director of the Center for Critical Internet Inquiry.To address these shortcomings and the dangers they introduce, GLAAD made a number of recommendations. One key suggestion was to improve moderation "by providing training for all content moderators focused on LGBTQ safety, privacy and expression." After calculating how much specialized AI equipment can be produced, de Vries-Gao compared that to information about how much electricity these devices consume. Last year, they likely burned through as much electricity as de Vries-Gao’s home country of the Netherlands, he found. He expects that number to grow closer to a country as large as the UK by the end of 2025, with power demand for AI reaching 23GW.     I've noticed many streams where all the lumina and overall builds went towards three members, or even just one and the rest were support.

    I've personally kept everything at the same lvl at all times, same lumina distribuition, same effort on builds. When one or two characters got underleveled they were brought to the main team until they catched up.

    Tried to balance them as much as I could for the majority of the game. But in the end Maelle got most of the stuff since she is pretty OP.

    I think Verso got the least amount of stuff in the end tho. Just didn't really use them that much.

    Currently in act 3 and pausing the main story to go around the map and side-quest as much as possible since for once in a game side questing does not feel like a chore.

    I have three members that are my main lineup but I keep everyone as balanced as possible, many times I won battles thanks to my reserve duo

    I'm currently still playing and my distribution is the same to yours. I've started to look at builds for beating some of the overpowered enemies in the game. My starting three is Verso, Sciel and Lune. Monoco and Maelle if they die. I have Maelle on the second team, even though she's currently the second strongest person I have, for balance.

    Leveling was an even split between Agility and Vitality until both got to 99. At that point, Recoat then dump into the stats for everyone's best weapons.

    Lumina points were distributed evenly among each character. It was super useful having everyone set up to fight because some characters work better for certain situations.

    Voted and finished the game equally balanced over all characters. But now I'm doing endgame things after seeing credits and I've successfully done a Lune killing machine build with over 400 lumina points that destroyed all endless tower almost by herself. Also the Flying Manor end boss was finally managed by her solo.

    Now I'm going for the Maelle build just for the well known "hardest boss" but honestly if it takes too much work I may just watch the remaining journal in youtube and call it a day. Lune was entirely my build and while the things I'm seeing for Maelle are similar, it's not the same and not mine, so it's ok to just quit here, especially as there's not much more game for me. I was just doing this while postponing starting a new game but that time has come now.

    This is pretty much me as well.

    Lune and Sciel are my fallback party who can pretty much sustain themselves with healing and damage output.

    I was ready to not engage with her because it felt too annoying, but that one weapon she gets that sets her up with 10 foretell on any sun-based move made me see the vision lol

    Maelle, Verso, Lune only. I gave nothing to Sciel and Monoco lol.

    Distributed all Lumina points equally among the 3 mains.
    I basically had my end-game weapons about 10 hours in and would max those out and build around them. I did replace one or two with post-game weapons.
    Stat distribution for every levelup was 2 Vitalitythen 1 in whatever the weapon stats were.

    Oh I got that weapon and absolutely used it a ton with her, she just fell out of conversation with the story turn. Maelle had to be in the party from then on lol

    I experimented with different teams but fell on Lune, Maelle and Monoco as my favorite team. Sometimes I swap Verso or Sciel with Lune.

    I was using her before said turn because she was the first to reach the Act 1 damage cap

    Only got a little into Act 2 though, so still plenty of story to go through

    Interesting because Gustave's overcharge is rather good at dps but he is a support character priming enemies for the rest of the team to shine. Maelle is ridiculously OP pretty early on, as long as you get good at counterattacking. Sciel is the best support from Act 2 onward.

    For most of the game I used Sciel, Lune, Verso then towards the end I went with a Break build using Sciel, Verso and Monoco.

    I never switched out characters so it took a sec to get Monoco up to Sciel and Vero's level lol.

    Balanced for most of the game, but my Primary party was Lune / Sciel / Monoco, with Lune being my "Main" and getting the lion's share of Lumina in the endgame.

    Went with a fun Heal-Buff / DOT Nuke Team by basically using Typhoon as an AP / Buff Battery for the Squad, then Stacking Storm Caller and Terraquake for Passive Damage, then Elemental Genesis and Hellfire for big Damage nukes. Was a lot of fun having access to so much damage per turn for big waves and required a bit of Stain management to keep me awake.

    I was mainly balanced, with the exception that I gave Maelle got 20/30 more Lumina points than the rest of the cast.

    My primary characters were Luna, Maelle, Monoco, with Verso and Sciel as my backup.

    My backup team were at a slightly lower level then my primary characters.

    For most of the game, I primarily levelled Vitality, Agility, and Luck, and ignored the other stats.

At that point, Recoat then dump into the stats for everyone's best weapons. Lumina points were distributed evenly among each character. But now I'm doing endgame things after seeing credits and I've successfully done a Lune killing machine build with over 400 lumina points that destroyed all endless tower almost by herself. Also the Flying Manor end boss was finally managed by her solo (with Roulette lol). Now I'm going for the Maelle build just for the well known "hardest boss" but honestly if it takes too much work I may just watch the remaining journal in youtube and call it a day. Lune was entirely my build and while the things I'm seeing for Maelle are similar, it's not the same and not mine, so it's ok to just quit here, especially as there's not much more game for me. I gave nothing to Sciel and Monoco lol. Distributed all Lumina points equally among the 3 mains. I basically had my end-game weapons about 10 hours in and would max those out and build around them. I did replace one or two with post-game weapons. Click to shrink... Interesting because Gustave's overcharge is rather good at dps but he is a support character priming enemies for the rest of the team to shine. Maelle is ridiculously OP pretty early on, as long as you get good at counterattacking. Went with a fun Heal-Buff / DOT Nuke Team by basically using Typhoon as an AP / Buff Battery for the Squad, then Stacking Storm Caller and Terraquake for Passive Damage, then Elemental Genesis and Hellfire for big Damage nukes. My primary characters were Luna, Maelle, Monoco (I had wanted to use Verso instead of Monoco, but the risk of losing any missable skills forced me to use Monoco), with Verso and Sciel as my backup. My backup team were at a slightly lower level then my primary characters.
