Mike Judge always seemed to have secret geek sympathies. He co-created the HBO series Silicon Valley, as well as the movie Office Space (reviewed in 1999 by Slashdot contributor Jon Katz). Now comes the word that besides rebooting Buffy the Vampire Slayer — and an animated scifi/action/horror film called Predator: Killer of Killers — Hulu is also relaunching Judge's animated series King of the Hill on August 4th. And Cinemablend notes they took great pains to ensure the inclusion of internet-loving neighbor Dale Gribble despite the death of voice actor Johnny Hardwick: Co-creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels joined the cast of returning voice actors for a revealing Q&A at ATX Fest while also revealing longtime cast member Toby Huss took over the role of Dale Gribble... Hardwick passed away in August 2023 at 64, with fans and co-stars paying tribute soon after. It was revealed at the time that he'd recorded some audio for the new season, but it was clear that another actor would be needed to fill those intimidating and conspiracy-obsessed shoes. Among other characters, Huss provided the voice of Cotton Hill and Kahn Sr. in the O.G. run, and feels to me like a natural fit to take over as Dale. And he sounds humbled to have been given the task, telling the ATX Fest crowd: "Johnny was one-of-a-kind and a wonderful fellow. I'm not trying to copy Johnny...I guess I'm trying to be Johnny. He laid down a really wonderful goofball character...he had a lot of weird heart to him and that's a credit to Johnny. So all I'm trying to do is hold on to his Dale-ness. We love our guy Johnny and it's so sad that he's not here...." I can already hear Dale himself questioning why he sounds different, and whether or not the government has replaced him with a lizard creature or some other sentient organism... In the immediate aftermath of Johnny Hardwick's death, the word was that the actor had filmed a couple of episodes' worth of material for the Hulu revival, but Mike Judge went on the record at ATX Fest to reveal that initial assessment undershot things entirely. From the voice of Hank Hill himself: "Johnny Hardwick is in six episodes. He's still going to be in the show." Hulu uploaded the new opening credits to YouTube eight days ago — and it's already been viewed 2.1 million times, attracting 55,000 upvotes and 7,952 comments... A great way to prepare for a future that is largely unknown is to build your adaptability skills through diverse work experiences, says Bhavik Rao, CIO for the Americas at Vertiv. Learn from your wins and your losses and carry on. Stay free of comfort zones and run towards the chaos. Leaders are born of challenges and not from comfort.Bhavik shares what he’s facing now, how he’s navigating it, and the hard-won lessons that helped shape his approach to IT leadership.Here’s what he had to say:What has your career path looked like so far? I actually started my career as a techno-functional consultant working with the public sector. That early experience gave me a solid grounding in both the technical and process side of enterprise systems. From there, I moved into consulting, which really opened up my world. I had the opportunity to work across multiple industries, leading everything from mobile app development and eCommerce deployments to omnichannel initiatives, data platforms, ERP rollouts, and ultimately large-scale digital transformation and IT strategy programs. It was fast paced, challenging, and incredibly rewarding.  That diversity shaped the way I think today. I learned how to adapt quickly, connect dots across domains, and communicate with everyone from developers to CXOs. Eventually, that path led me to Vertiv, where I now serve as the CIO for the Americas, in addition to leading a couple of global towers, such as data/AI and engineering systems, for example. I’ve been fortunate to lead initiatives that drive operational efficiency, scale GenAI adoption, and turn technology into a true business enabler.   Related:What are the highlights along your career path? There have been several defining moments, both wins and challenges, that have shaped how I lead today. One of the most pivotal chapters has been my time at Vertiv. I joined when the company was still owned by private equity. It was an intense, roll-up-your-sleeves kind of environment. Then, in 2020, we went public -- a huge milestone. But just as we were ramping up our digital transformation, COVID hit, and with it came massive supply chain disruptions. In the middle of all that chaos, I was asked to take over a large-scale transformation program that was struggling. bhBhavik RaoIt wasn’t easy. There were legacy challenges, resistance to change, and real execution pressure. But we rallied, restructured the program, and launched it. That experience taught me a lot about leading under pressure, aligning teams around outcomes, and staying focused even when everything feels like it’s shifting. Related:Another major learning moment was earlier in my career when I lost a large national account I’d spent over seven years building. That was a tough one, but it taught me resilience. I learned not to attach my identity to any one outcome and to keep moving forward with purpose. Then, there are the moments of creation, like launching VeGA, our internal GenAI platform at Vertiv. Seeing it go from idea to impact, with thousands of users and 100+ applications, has been incredibly energizing. It reminded me how powerful it is when innovation meets execution. I’ve also learned the power of being a “player-coach.” I don’t believe in leading from a distance. I get involved, understand the challenges on the ground, and then help teams move forward together.  What’s your vision for the future of sovereign AI? For me, sovereign AI isn’t just a regulatory checkbox; it’s about strategic autonomy. At our company, we are trying to be very intentional about how we scale AI responsibly across our global footprint. So, when I think about sovereign AI, I define it as the ability to control how, where, and why AI is built and deployed with full alignment to your business needs, risk posture, and data boundaries. Related:I’ve seen firsthand how AI becomes a competitive advantage only when you have governance, infrastructure flexibility, and contextual intelligence built in. Our work with VeGA, for example, has shown that employees adopt AI much faster when it’s embedded into secure, business-aligned workflows and not just bolted on from the outside. For CIOs, the shift to sovereign AI means: Designing AI infrastructure that can flex whether it’s hosted internally, cloud-based, or hybrid Building internal AI fluency so your teams aren't fully reliant on black-box solutions Creating a framework for trust and explainability, especially as AI touches regulated and legal processes It’s not about doing everything in-house, but it is about knowing what’s mission-critical to control. In my view, sovereign AI is less about isolation and more about intentional ownership. What do you do for fun or to relax? Golf is my go-to. It keeps me grounded and humble! It’s one of those games that’s as much about mindset as it is about mechanics. I try to work out regularly when I am not traveling for work.  I also enjoy traveling with my family and listening to podcasts.   What advice would you give to young people considering a leadership path in IT? Be curious, stay hands-on, don’t rush the title, and focus on impact. Learn the business, not just the tech. Some of the best technologists I’ve worked with are the ones who understand how a supply chain works or how a sale actually closes. Also, don’t be afraid to take on messy, undefined problems. Run toward the chaos. That’s where leadership is born. And finally, surround yourself with people smarter than you. Build teams that challenge you. That’s where real growth happens.

Find a selection of 10 key SGF 2025 highlights below, including all-new reveals and several worthwhile updates on already-announced games. End of Abyss Created by Section 9 Interactive, a Malmö-based studio of developers who worked on the Little Nightmares games, and published by Epic Games itself, this was the horror highlight of SGF. In End of Abyss, a combat technician explores a facility that's riddled with fleshy monsters, in what looks a little like a twin-stick survival horror shooter. New pathways will emerge in the game as players become stronger, suggesting something of a Metroidvania structure. This one doesn't have a specific release date yet beyond 2026, but it's coming to Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. Lego Voyagers This two-player Lego game from the developers of Lego Builders Journey left an impression with a simple but perfect pitch: what if you played as a single Lego brick, and the entire game was built around that notion? Anyone still craving high-value co-op experiences for couch play after finishing this year's wonderful Split Fiction should keep this beautiful-looking game on their radar. It's coming to PC and consoles, including the original Nintendo Switch, and will be playable either locally or online (with only one purchase necessary for the latter). Mina the Hollower, the long-awaited new game from Shovel Knight developer Yacht Club Games, got a release date of October 31, 2025 during SGF. This trailer will set off fireworks for anyone familiar with its inspirations: Link's Awakening and the other Game Boy Color Zelda games, for example, as well as the side-scrolling adventures of the Castlevania series. Marvel's Deadpool VR Rather a lot of licensed games made the cut in this Summer Games Fest (who could've predicted that this year's livestream would offer viewers a real-time strategy game tie-in to Game of Thrones, a TV show that ended on a contentious note in 2019?). Meta's big reveal at SGF was Deadpool VR, another superhero-themed exclusive coming to Quest 3, following last year's killer app Batman: Arkham Shadow. This game stars Neil Patrick Harris as Marvel's Merc with a Mouth, and comes from 'Splosion Man developer Twisted Pixel. As ever, Deadpool's delivered-via-sledgehammer meta humour is something of an acquired taste, yet the recent history of pop culture would suggest it's never been more popular. Deadpool VR's first-person combat and storytelling look authentic to the character, which is either a dream come true or a living nightmare, depending on who you ask. It launches exclusively on Quest 3 and 3S in late 2025. Ill and Mundfish's push into publishing Mundfish, the latest developer to move into publishing, had a big presence in this year's SGF livestream. That included a colourful-if-muddled trailer for Atomic Heart 2, a follow-up to its 2023 hit FPS. But perhaps more interesting was the horror-themed FPS Ill, the debut game from studio Team Clout. What could be more frightening than being chased by dozens of decaying bald men, and occasionally, some fetid-looking evil giant babies? This game will launch on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, but it doesn't have a release date yet. Scott Pilgrim EX Considering the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels ended 15 years ago, the longevity of a story about a down-on-his-luck 20-something fighting all his new partner's exes in sequence continues to amaze. This spiritual sequel to 2010's acclaimed Ubisoft tie-in Scott Pilgrim Vs The World: The Game sees Scott and six of his pals teaming up to fight three different warring gangs who have taken over Toronto. Developer Tribute Games (creators of the brilliant Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge) comprises staff who worked on that prior Ubisoft title. Pleasingly for fans, too, series creator Bryan Lee O'Malley is behind the story on this project. With four-player co-op part of the mix, Scott Pilgrim EX launches in 2026. Casino Royale's Le Chiffre comes to Hitman: World of Assassination With IO Interactive's James Bond game First Light not arriving until 2026, this reveal was a real treat for fans of 007, and a fun stopgap. Actor Mads Mikkelsen joined IO's Hakan Abrak on-stage in announcing that his Casino Royale villain Le Chiffre has been added to Hitman: World of Assassination's Paris level as a limited-time Elusive Target. Players have until July 6 to take him out. Blighted Guacamelee studio Drinkbox is behind this visually stylish action RPG, which looks like it'll scratch the itch of anyone who got deep into Hades but wants something with a fresh twist (or co-op) to play. The setting is described as a 'psychedelic western nightmare' by the developers, and a 'blighted' mechanic alters the difficulty of the game dynamically depending on how afflicted the player is. It's coming soon to Steam. Stranger Than Heaven First unveiled last year as Project Century, this deeper look at the next project by Like A Dragon developer RGG Studio showed off the game's 1943 (seemingly) period Japanese setting, as well as its combat and other gameplay elements like moral choices (of the Xbox 360 era 'spare/kill' variety). Considering the last trailer was set in 1915, it would appear to suggest the game takes place across multiple decades. It's exciting to see this studio trying something a little different, even if some of the parts are superficially similar. Resident Evil Requiem The reveal of the ninth mainline Resident Evil game closed the livestream with a bang. Requiem is slightly hard to grasp from this first trailer, perhaps by design: the protagonist is an agent called Grace Ashcroft, and we see several glimpses of the ruins of Raccoon City amid the horrors in this teaser. No doubt Capcom will gradually put the pieces together in the run-up to its February 27, 2026 release date on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. It firmly looks like a stylistic follow-up to the first-person hits Resident Evil 7 and Village. On-stage, it was promised the game will feature "high-stakes cinematic action" as well as survival horror.
