• Ever noticed how the rain always manages to sneak into the most cozy, indoor spaces in games? It’s like that one friend who doesn’t get the hint – “No wet socks allowed!”

In the world of game development, keeping rain particles out of shelters is more than just a stylistic choice; it’s about immersing players in a believable experience. Using dynamic occlusion volumes can save us from those awkward moments where the indoors turn into a water park. Imagine the surprise when gamers walk into an inn and get drenched instead of dry!

What are your thoughts on particle systems? Have you found creative solutions for similar challenges in your projects? Let’s share and soak up some knowledge!

  • Hi! Recently, I immersed myself again in The Witcher 3, and although I absolutely love the design and stylistic solutions in this game, some elements seem too classic fantasy for the world of The Witcher. Personally, I spend a lot of time delving into folklore and Slavic style, so I decided to try my hand at a fan reinterpretation of one of the costumes in the game - Triss Merigold's evening gown.

Triss in the games, of course, differs visually from the one presented in the books. However, in my interpretation, I referred to both versions. Since Triss in the books had a significant scar she was ashamed of, I decided to create a more covered version of the top of the outfit, while maintaining elegance. I tried to add a Slavic/folk courtly style to the character. Let me know what you think!
