There may not be any obvious casualties in the third season of The White Lotus thus far, but that doesnt mean that death isnt looming over every episode. Themes of death and rebirth are a big part of the season and the very first scene shows a flashforward of an active shooter situation at the resort still to come. Though we dont yet know who is responsible for the gunshots heard echoing throughout the prestigious White Lotus Thailand resort, or who will end up in body bags by the end of the season, that doesnt mean we cant have a little fun speculating. And who better to theorize with than White Lotus alum Meghann Fahy?While chatting with Fahy at the Den of Geek SXSW studio about her upcoming movie Drop, we got to ask her if she was tuning in this season and if she had any ideas about who might be checking out in a body bag. I think its gonna be more than one person, she says. I dont know who I think it is, yet, but I think that [its going to be multiple].Drop director Christopher Landon even chimes in, agreeing that the series opening seems to hint at mass casualties this season.Despite the threat of more characters than usual dying this season, Fahy hasnt been scared off from returning to The White Lotus in the future. Oh my God, of course, she says when asked if shed be willing to come back and reprise her season 2 character down the road. I love Daphne and Cameron, and I would super be down.Aside from Greg (Jon Gries), who we already know is sketchy and played a role in Tanyas (Jennifer Coolidge) death last season, the most volatile of the White Lotus guests so far this season are Timothy Ratliff (Jason Isaacs) and Rick Hatchett (Walton Goggins). Timothy is currently being investigated by the feds back home for a business deal he made long ago. He has already stolen a gun from resort security. Even though it doesnt currently seem like he views the gun as anything other than a way out of this situation for himself through suicide, hes clearly becoming more and more unstable as the season goes on.Rick came to Thailand to find the man who killed his father. This journey may have taken him outside of the resort, for now, but we already know the man has ties to the resort and the land its on. Who knows what dominos Ricks revenge may knock down in the days to come.Now that Belinda (Natasha Rothwell) has recognized Greg from their time in Maui together, she is likely in his crosshairs. Shes already connected the dots and realized hes wanted for questioning in Tanyas death, he could go after her and/or her son when he arrives to try and cover his tracks.And these are just the obvious characters. Plenty of others are becoming loose cannons as their days at the White Lotus carry on. Who knows how things could play out by the finale as more secrets and inner turmoil are revealed. Fahy is absolutely right that all signs are pointing to more casualties this season. Well just have to keep checking in to The White Lotus each week to see who the unlucky victims are.

Apples recent Siri delays have stirred up a mess of bad press, and reportedly led to an all-hands meeting where an exec called the affair ugly and embarrassing. But per another key quote from that meeting, theres no doubt Apple saved itself a world of trouble with the move.Reliability of new Siri features was reportedly very poorDelaying new iOS features isnt a great look. Especially when you get called out by the press with some very strong language.But you know whats indisputably worse? Shipping important features that just dont work.And per leaked notes from Apples recent all-hands meeting about the Siri delays, thats exactly the bullet the company avoided.Per Mark Gurman:Walker said the decision to delay the features was made because of quality issues and that the company has found the technology only works properly up to two-thirds to 80% of the time. He said the group can make more progress to get those percentages up, so that users get something they can really count on.iOS features that only work two-thirds of the time simply cannot be shipped.Even if some features worked 80% of the time, thats clearly still not good enough.I cant think of a scenario where it would be tolerable for Apple to ship features like that.But with these Siri features in particular, it would be especially bad. For two reasons:Apple announced these features last June, so if they arrived nearly a year later and still didnt work, that would be especially embarrassingMore importantly though, the critical nature of these Siri features would make faulty performance especially problematicCritical nature of Siri upgrades makes delay the best moveRegarding this latter point, the whole premise of the new Siri is that its supposed to function like a truly intelligent assistant.Awareness of your personal contextthe texts youve received, your calendar, and moreis supposed to mean you can rely on Siri for more important things.But if Siri flubbed on those details two-thirds of the time, or even just 20% of the time, the consequences could be dire. As John Gruber points out, inspired by Apples WWDC example of asking Siri about your moms flight info:If Siri answers, Your moms flight is arriving at 4:30 this afternoon, and its currently showing an on-time arrival, you really want that information to be correct if youve promised to pick her up at the airport. Youll be annoyed if you drive to the airport and it turns out shes not actually landing until 7:30. And youll be in real trouble if shes landing at 1:30 and you show up three hours later, having banked on Siris answer being accurate.Scenarios like this show the tremendous potential of the upgraded Siri to act like a true assistant. But also how devastating it would be for Apple if these new features shipped and didnt really work.Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo legend, is often attributed the quote: A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.Games and OS updates arent quite the same. And some dispute whether Miyamoto actually said that. In any case though, the point is clear.A delayed Siri, we all hope, will eventually be good. Comedian Bill Burr might not seem like an obvious foe to the world's richest man he's been a regular guest on Joe Rogan, after all but he's been a steady thorn in the side of America's unelected co-president.In a recent interview withNPR, Burr went off on "that idiot Elon Musk," a regular source of ire for the archetypical Masshole.In a fiery diatribe, the new star of the Broadway revival of "Glengarry Glen Ross" took spineless liberal politicians to task for refusing to take any action against the South African-born billionaire who is "evidently a Nazi," as illustrated by his "two-time Sieg Heil.""They just go, 'Oh my God, can you believe this? Im getting out of the country!'" he bemoaned. "Im just like, youre gonna leave the country because of one guy with dyed hair plugs and a laminated face? Who makes a bad car and has an obsolete social media platform? Why doesnt he leave? Why are we so afraid of this guy who cant fight his way out of a wet paper bag?"It's a salient point, and one that feels fresh coming from a comedian whose work veers toward the politically incorrect. But he's emerged as an outspoken Musk critic and from a corner of the entertainment world that's often friendly to Musk's interests.Just a few weeks before his latest takedown, the comedian said on his podcast that after criticizing the billionaire's onstage Sieg Heil during Donald Trump's inauguration, he got an email from X, the site formerly known as Twitter that Musk now owns, saying his account had been flagged for inappropriate content.Those criticisms, whatever they were, don't appear to be online anymore. Though it's unclear what exactly happened, Burr seemed to suggest the site's owner may have had something to do with it."What a fucking baby," he said during the February 17 episode of his show. "Just like [Adolf] Hitler. A f*cking baby."While his ardor for trashing Musk has reached new heights during Trump's second administration, Burr is an old hand at hating the inspiration for "Iron Man."Indeed, it appears his "laminated face" crack dates back to at least January 2023, when the comedian blasted Musk for being a "nerd who's trying to be cool now" though to be fair, Burr was far softer on the billionaire in that clip than he has been in years since, likely because the latter has become significantly more loathsome over the ensuing two years.Amid all that Musk-bashing, it doesn't appear that the world's richest man in question has ever responded directly to Burr's provocations, which is ironic given his prior pissing contests with other rivals.
