In addition, the other licensed collaboration BeHaviour Interactive has planned for this year is FNAF. This is scheduled to arrive in a matter of months, and a DBD dev has shared when fans will be able to play the Five Nights At Freddys chapter before its full release.BeHaviour Interactive has confirmed that Dead By Daylight will be at PAX East on May 9th. This is to celebrate the games 9th anniversary, and it will provide an early look at their Five Nights At Freddys collaboration. While the reveal is something to anticipate, fans are naturally wondering when we will actually get to play the chapter. Fortunately, community manager, Eric Pope, has revealed on X that the PTB is coming out later in the month.Image credit: @MrPope on XDBD leaker, Dvveet, has guessed that the PTB could potentially drop on May 13th, but Eric Pope has said the Pax East showcase happens way before. PTBs typically drop on Tuesday, as illustrated by Tokyo Ghoul launching on March 11th, so the three possible dates for the Five Nights At Freddys PTB include May 13th, 20th, and 27th.Its also possible the PTB could launch on a different day as The Houndmaster demo was surprisingly dropped on Thursday. Either way, the earliest fans will be able to play DBD x FNAF is in May.As for the full release on all platforms, it should come out in June. • Inside a Designers Long Dreamed For Paris Pied--Terre
    www.architecturaldigest.com
Who among us hasnt spent a month, week, or even a day in Paris and dreamed of someday returning, keys in hand, to a Left Bank pied--terre? While such romantic notions may be nearly universal, few are lucky enough to actually realize them. Not so for designer Fawn Galli, who, after spending a year in the City of Lights as an au pair in her 20s, has just put the finishing touches on her dream Parisian apartment.Paris has always been so special to me, gushes the New Yorkbased designer. When I lived there in my 20s, I always thought, Im going to make it big one day and come back and buy a place in Paris. But when I eventually returned to the States, I forgot about it and moved on. For Galli, moving on meant embarking on her now flourishing design careerfirst working for industry giants like Robert A.M. Stern and Peter Marino, and later establishing her own namesake firm, where she has cultivated a devoted following for her eclectic style and bold use of color.Designer Fawn Galli in the Parisian pied--terre shes dreamt about since her 20sAfter a few decades of hard work, that dream of Paris came creeping back. My son left for college, and the dollar was strong, so I told myself: Im finally going to do itIm going to go to Paris and buy an apartment, Galli says. Initially, she envisioned a petite pied--terre. One bedroommaybe twoin a central arrondissement like the 5th. But in a whirlwind weekend, during which she viewed four different flats in the span of a day, she found her dream home: a three-bedroom Haussmannian-style flat close to Saint-Germain-des-Prs.Enamored with the intricately carved cornices, honey-colored herringbone parquet floors, and beautifully carved wooden boiserie, she kept as much of the original architecture as possible in her design. With the help of local architecture firm Atelier UNDO, she preserved and refreshed the original details, rearranged the layout to add an extra bedroom, and opened up the once-stuffy space to let the golden Parisian daylight flood in.

  • Despite all the chatter about being a Disco Elysium successor, Hopetown devs say "you don't need to have made Disco Elysium to make something great"
    www.vg247.com
A New Genre?Despite all the chatter about being a Disco Elysium successor, Hopetown devs say "you don't need to have made Disco Elysium to make something great""We're not running around with a bottle trying to catch lightning."Image credit: ZAUM/Longdue News by Mark Warren Senior Staff Writer Published on March 17, 2025 Of all of the studios that form what I've come to refer to as the Disco Diaspora - the gang of four (at current) studios outside of ZA/UM that have all seemed to vaguely be vying for the title of Disco Elysium spiritual successor - Longdue is arguably the one that's been most active in marketing its game that way."Team members that worked on the original Disco Elysium and its unreleased sequel" were cited in Longdue's first announcement of something Disco-like last October. "Longdue Announces Upcoming Crowdfunding For Disco Elysium Spiritual Successor" was the headline of the press release from January that properly revealed the game the studio kicks off a crowdfunding campaign for today - Hopetown. Both that January release and the most recent one have also made a key point of name-dropping folks who had a hand in Disco and are now working on Hopetown, first Piotr Sobolewski and last week Martin Luiga. To see this content please enable targeting cookies. So, in a recent interview with Longdue technical lead Sobolewski - who's listed in Disco's credits as having provided 'additional development' on Disco as part of external studio The Knights of Unity - and Hopetown narrative director Grant Roberts, I asked the pair to paint me a picture of how things look in terms of the ex-Disco devs currently at Longdue, and what they're working on in Hopetown."We've had a lot of people that have worked on the Disco franchise either pass through here, or still stay here, or collaborate with us and then move on," Roberts told me, "Martin, as you know, is the newest addition who has a connection to [ZA/UM]. He was part of the narrative staff there. I actually don't know the full roster of people who worked on the story and narrative for Disco, but, I mean, you look at all the names that are attached to all the Disco [successor studios]... the key creatives behind Disco have all have mostly left ZA/UM and gone to these other studios."Those other studios, I think, are touting those names. I don't really want to talk about them, because I prefer to talk as little about the weird Disco Diaspora and drama situation as possible. I just want to focus on making what we're making, but we've got people who have worked on all kinds of things at ZA/UM that have been a part of this."There have also been people who worked there who are not keen to have their names mentioned because people feel so passionately about this. The internet is a terrible place for fandom at times, and so they want to stay out of any controversy that's attached to this, which I don't blame them for. So yeah, there are some people that were a big part of Disco, and a big part of Disco's narrative, that have been a part of this and have moved on. Image credit: Longdue"Now we have a new narrative team that is forming. Like Piotr says, you don't need to have made Disco Elysium to make something great. Especially in this genre; there was a long list of games that were amazing before that game existed, and they did do something they did do something amazing at ZA/UM in Estonia, but we're not running around with a bottle trying to catch lightning."Roberts referenced that Sobolewski believes "[Discos devs] pretty much opened a whole book and created a canvas for games to be created [on], like a new genre". Meanwhile, the technical lead has raised some eyebrows in terms of his connection to the original Disco, due to his LinkedIn profile citing him as a "co-creator of the highest rated PC game of all time (according to Metacritic)". That game is Disco Elysium. Since our interview, the bio has seemingly been changed, and now simply reads "World-class IT Advisor"."Well, I think ZA/UM mentioned multiple times that the Knights basically saved the game," Sobolewski responded when I quizzed him on this. "So, for quite a long time, we [were] the core development team behind the game, and many of our ideas landed in the game. Im mentioned in the credits. You can check the credits of Disco Elysium, there is my name. I played some little part, but not gonna jump into details because I was just the CEO of the company [The Knights of Unity], not anyone who was working directly [on] the game. Image credit: Longdue"So, I'm not bragging that I co-created [Disco Elysium]. I'm gonna check this line [on LinkedIn]. I think that I am entitled to say that partially I co-created the game, because I pretty much created the company that co-created the game - and I also had some ideas that landed in the game, so why not? I have never worked in ZA/UM, that's true, but I've known them for... I think we started working together [...] many, many years ago. And yeah, I think it was quite popularly and quite openly said that the Knights of Unity pretty much saved Disco Elysium. Every person from the Knights of Unity who worked on Disco I would call a co-creator, definitely.""I would say judge us by the work that we're doing, not by the marketing or what we say," Roberts told me when I asked him what he'd say to the cynics that are demoralised by all of the messy Disco Elysium fallout, and the drama around its would-be sucessors. "We're making something that we're going to be very proud of, and we're making it with a team that is very diverse when it comes to levels of experience in the video game industry, their demographics, their experience in what they've done in their careers before this.""We are looking to make something new that can stand alongside Disco in this new era that Disco helped to usher in."Longdue's Kickstarter campaign for Hopetown kicks off today, March 17.

  • Nintendo Museum Launches Keychains That Play Your Favourite Console Jingle
    www.nintendolife.com
Image: Alex Olney / Nintendo LifeWe've all got a favourite Nintendo console jingle, right? Y'know, the start-up tune that would play whenever you boot up the system. Much like the consoles themselves, they represent a moment in time; a nugget of nostalgia that effortlessly brings back cosy memories in just a few short seconds. Now, Nintendo is looking to provide that nostalgia in the form of keychains available at the Museum in Kyoto, Japan (thanks, Nintendeal). Presented in what looks to be simple cube designs, the keychains will play the relevant console's start-up tune, though we can't tell exactly whether this is via a simple button press or some other form of input.Nintendo Museum just dropped new merchKeychains that play the console's startup sound Nintendeal (@nintendeal.com) 2025-03-16T22:06:23.111ZWe have to admit, we're a little disappointed at the seemingly basic physical design of the keychains, but then we have to remember that Nintendo already has similar products in the form of controllers/handhelds and button modules, so we'll just have to make do with the cubes. Heck, at least it would kind of make sense for the GameCube, right?Speaking of which, we'd be first in line to grab the GameCube keychain; that start-up tune is the absolute bee's knees. Though we'd also be quite partial to the Wii and GBA, too.In fact, our beloved Jim recently spoke on his desire for a new start-up jingle for Switch 2, and we asked you fine folks what your personal favourite tune was, too. With a whopping 47% of the vote, GameCube won in a landslide. Jingles, all the wayWould you like to own one of these console jingle keychains? • Google beefs up its UK AI business with Agentspace data residency and more
    techcrunch.com
Google is doubling down on building out its AI business in the U.K. On Monday morning in London, the CEO of Google DeepMind Demis Hassabis and Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian appeared alongside customers BT and WPP to spell out some of its plans. The company said it would expand UK data residency to include Agentspace so that AI agents for enterprises built on Google infrastructure can be hosted locally a key detail for organizations that are wary of hosting data outside of their own purview.Alongside this, Google is introducing more financial incentives for AI startups to work with Google awarding those joining its new UK accelerator up to 280,000 in Google Cloud credits; plus expanded AI skills training.Additionally, Google used the event at its DeepMind offices to announce that Chirp 3, the companys audio generation model that was developed there, would be added to its Vertex AI developer platform. You can read more about that here.Agentic has become the code-word for how enterprises will practically start adopting AI the pitch being that AI agents can be built both to help people do their work faster, and to interface better with customers.Agentspace is Googles platform for building these assistants for work. One of the most notable features in it is NotebookLM for enterprises a service that can ingest large amounts of information and then summarise it, now set up for use in large business environments. Other features of Agentspace include multimodal search, and, of course, the building of AI agents using generative AI.Google launched Agentspace as a beta in December 2024, while Google announced data residency for the UK in October 2024, allowing for private and public organizations to store data at-rest, train AI and run inference on Gemini 1.5 Flash within the U.K. Todays news brings Agentspace into the UK data residency region. The idea here is to lay the groundwork to get more businesses working with Google (instead of its competitors) to build their future AI services, but also to try to bridge some of the trust issues that have arisen among organizations over how their proprietary data is handled in the building of AI and other services in the cloud. Data is the new oil and so it remains a precious commodity. We know from our research that a significant percentage of organizations across Europe are still very nervous about using AI in the public cloud, said IDC analyst Mick Heys. They want to deploy AI, and theyre happy to do experimenting in the cloud, but when it comes to actual deployment at scale, they want to do that in dedicated infrastructure or some kind of co-location environment, something that is really managed much more closely by them. Thats partly because theyre just nervous about data security, privacy and sovereignty issues. So those things are still very live. They will have full control to keep the data where they need it, Kurian said at the event today. The two companies that joined Hassabis and Kurian on stage today are longtime partners in AI services. Both BT and WPP have inked development and data partnerships with Google Cloud and are early adopters of pilot programs, such as newer releases of Imagen, Veo and Gemini. We are quietly reinventing all our operations, said BT CEO Allison Kirby of how its using AI. Operationally, there is just a huge potential for us. Some of these have a very immediate customer face, for example in trying to help detect phone scams and to improve customer service agents. Back in 2023, it said it would be axing up to 55,000 jobs with one-third to be replaced by AI.Google is on a development tear at the moment with its AI business. Last week saw the launch of a host of new Gemini developments, specifically Gemini 2.0, which starts to work around multimodal generation and understanding in real-time, using word prompts to generate images, a new robotics model and advances with its lightweight Gemma model.Separately, the U.K. government is making a huge push to promote more AI development, both within its ranks and more widely as an industry. At the same time, European businesses are pushing for less reliance on Big Tech, in favor of homegrown businesses and services. The U.K. government has laid out plans, and is pressing individual divisions, to demonstrate how it could adopt more generative AI services aimed at speeding up paperwork and building services across data that had previously been siloed by function and department. The governments dogfooding is part of a bigger strategy: its hope is that AI really will prove to be a big economic wave, and it wants to make sure the U.K. can catch it. To show that the U.K. is open for business for AI, its made commitments to AI regional zones that will include data center capacity as well as regulatory changes to smooth the way to working with more data, among other measures. These models are global and used everywhere, and we need to set an international standard for this, Hassabis said of the move to relax how IP is handled in AI environments in response to a question today about how the U.K. is looking to change rules around how AI companies can use intellectual property to train models, one of the more controversial topics around how AI is being ushered into use in the U.K.Interestingly, the two main firms the government has named so far that it is working with are OpenAI and Anthropic, two rivals to Google in the area of generative AI services. Googles announcements are late to the party but could pave the way for more collaboration on the government front going forward.

  • Satellite technology to provide broadband to remote areas of Buckinghamshire
    www.computerweekly.com
jim - stock.adobe.comNewsSatellite technology to provide broadband to remote areas of BuckinghamshireBuckinghamshire Council harnesses low Earth orbit technology to serve the most remote areas of the county with ultrafast broadbandByKarl Flinders,Chief reporter and senior editor EMEAPublished: 17 Mar 2025 11:41 Buckinghamshire Council is using satellite technology to deliver ultrafast broadband to rural locations as part of a deal with IT supplier CGI.The low Earth orbit (LEO) technology, which is a lower-cost alternative to rolling out fibre in hard-to-reach places, will also make a free public wireless service available for citizens in village halls. The leader of Buckinghamshire Council, Martin Tett, said digital connectivity is central to the prosperity of the county. The agriculture and tourism industries will be the main commercial beneficiaries of the service, but the council also wants to improve quality of life for residents.CGI has partnered with us to develop a well-thought-out and innovative approach to supporting improved connectivity across our region, particularly in those communities that have previously proven hard to reach, said Tett. The Buckinghamshire initiative supportsProject Gigabit, a programme introduced in 2021 with the aim of accelerating the UKs recovery from Covid-19, boosting high-growth sectors such as tech and the creative industries, and levelling up the country by spreading wealth and creating jobs.On its launch, the previous UK government said the scheme would prioritise areas with slow connections that would otherwise be left behind in commercial broadband companies plans. The current government reconfirmed the original objective to build a broadband infrastructure that would see 85% of the UK have gigabit-capable connectivity by the end of 2025 and then full nationwide coverage by 2030.By April 2024, more than 1.3bn had already been invested in Project Gigabit contracts, resulting in nearly 82% of properties across the UK having access to gigabit broadband, up from just 7% at the same time five years ago. This investment saw more than a million rural homes, businesses and public buildings upgraded to gigabit-capable networks.LEO satellites circle the Earth at lower altitudes than geosynchronoussatellites. They orbit between 200km and 2,000km above the Earth and are often used for communications, military reconnaissance, spying and other imaging applications.Using satellite for primary or secondary connectivity is becoming more affordable, and in many use cases, performance is on par with available wired or cellular connectivity. Increasing numbers of businesses have begun deploying data services using LEO satellites. In 2023, CGI ran a pilot to show how a combination ofLEO satellite and terrestrial communications networks could provide broadband connectivity, and how constellations of communication satellites could fill gaps in terrestrial coverage to provide additional capacity in a cost-effective way.Ian Dunbar, senior vice-president of consulting services, media and communications at CGI in the UK, said:Read more about Project GigabitIn The Current Issue:Digital twins map the world and guide strategic decisionsLiverpool reinvents customer service through digital platformDownload Current IssueThe importance of taking time to get IT right Cliff Saran's Enterprise blogSLM series - Domino Data Lab: Distillation brings LLM power to SLMs CW Developer NetworkView All Blogs

  • You're sitting on a million-dollar business idea - and don't even know it
    www.zdnet.com
rob dobi/Getty ImagesThe older I get, the more and more I wonder what Scrooge McDuck did for a living.I don't remember him going to the "office" not one time. Clearly, Scrooge knew what he was doing, so if I needed a business idea, I'd copy his strategy. Also: Why you should ignore 99% of AI tools - and which four I use every dayBut if you don't have a rich cartoon uncle to copy and are searching for a new business idea, you're in the right place. In today's article, I'll share with you: How to find amazing business ideasHow to validate themHow to get startedYou are in for a treat today, so get comfortable! I'm about to share the good stuff I never share publicly, so one day, you can dive headfirst into your pile of gold like Uncle Scrooge. Quick introIf you're new to my work, my name is Lester, but feel free to call me Les I'm a founder with a successful exit, currently serving as the executive chairman of a group of e-commerce brands. But I'm an award-winning performance marketer at my core, and spotting trends is my thing. To stay ahead in the competitive e-commerce space, my team and I built internal tools and processes to spot trends faster than anyone else. We operate more like a data company than a traditional e-commerce brand. So, finding ideas is literally my job. LOL Also: AI isn't the next big thing - here's what isIf you're into data-driven business and marketing strategies, check out my free newsletter, No Fluff Just Facts. I share what's working in the world of business, along with marketing insights and trends I'm seeing. But that's enough about me. I have to tell you my secrets for finding winning ideas. How to find the best business ideasBefore I jump into the details, let me discuss the mindset required when looking for business ideas. To sum it up in a few words: You need to be inquisitive, the kind of person who gets excited about discovering new things, a modern-day Sherlock Holmes, if you will. You also need to have an imagination. Imagination helps you connect ideas others miss, giving you a huge advantage. And, of course, patience.Finding great business ideas is one of those things where you need to enjoy the journey. Now that we've got that out of the way, here's exactly how you do it: My secret to finding great ideasFirst, decide exactly who you want to serve. It could be doctors, lawyers, moms, any group you like. After that, join their online communities on Facebook, Reddit, or TikTokand find out what challenges they face. Once you've found the group, you only need to listen and observe. I guarantee they'll be mad about something and tell you the solution they wish existed. Reddit is my favorite place for finding ideas because it provides authentic, unfiltered data that is not impacted by algorithms. Now, here's where the patience kicks in. Your new business idea won't just sit on the homepage waiting for you. You may have to spend some time looking. That's why choosing who you want to serve is so important. Of course, you could use AI deep-search tools, but there's something valuable about hanging out in these communities yourself. I'm not anti-AI, but context matters a lot. Experiencing the "pain" firsthand gives you insight that AI can't replicate. I don't want AI to interpret that context for me. Outside of manual research, here's a fantastic tool that can help:gummysearch.com.It has a free plan that lets you quickly find relevant communities. Gummy helps you uncover hot discussions, people asking for advice or resources, pain points, frustrations, and, most importantly, top content (more on that later).Don't think "business idea," think "who can I help?" and the idea will follow, feel me? How to validate business ideasThis is when the rubber meets the road. The moment you decide if your idea is worth your blood, sweat, and tears. So, how do you validate a good idea? It depends. At this stage, you need to decide what you want. Also: Want to make money from Facebook stories? Here's how you canDo you want a billion-dollar lifestyle? Private jet, yacht, mansion, all that fun stuff? Or do you want something that'll help pay rent or buy groceries? There's no wrong answer; you can do whatever you want, but knowing beforehand is important. This matters because part of the validation process is figuring out your TAM (Total Addressable Market). Your TAM is basically how many people might buy your solution. There's a lot to unpack here, but let me give you a quick crash course. Please don't make the rookie mistake of thinking, "All I need is X percent to make Y dollars." This is called the top-down approach, and it's not the best way to see where you stand. That's not how it works. Instead, you need to calculate your TAM bottom-up. First, start with the cost of the product or service. Then you need to realistically figure out how many of your Ideal Customers will make a purchase, multiply those numbers together, and that's your TAM. Example: You sell a product for $20 per month. You realistically think 1,000 people will buy it.Your TAM is $20,000 per month.Understanding this is critical to figuring out if your idea can realistically meet your goals. Now that we've got that out of the way, here are a few tips to validate your ideas. First, you need to solve a real problem. A good way to think about this is being a painkiller, not a vitamin.Talk directly to your prospects. You want to hear their pain firsthand because that's how you'll know if they'll spend money.Make sure the problem you're solving has real urgency. For example, now isn't the time to launch a Blackberry accessory business. That ship has sailed. You want momentum pushing you forward, not something you have to force uphill. Trust me on this. Ask yourself if you have the skills to pull it off. Early in a project, I like to know that I can handle just about anything the business needs. This way, I clearly understand what I'm getting myself into.Look at whether your idea can generate recurring revenue. Getting customers is hard enough already, so you don't want them to buy once and disappear.Test quickly. Don't waste months or years on something nobody wants. Launch something simple to test demand within days or weeks. Finally, ask yourself, do you actually want this? I'm not a fan of doing things just for money. I'm a fan of doing what you love for money. Write that down. It matters. Simply put, living life on your terms should always be the goal. Your next stepsI mentioned it's critical to use a tool like Gummysearch to see exactly what content your prospects engage with. Start by going to Gummysearch and typing keywords related to your business idea. Look closely at popular discussions, trending posts, or common complaints. This helps you quickly identify topics your audience genuinely cares about. Next, see if solutions already exist. Search for competitors or similar products on Google, Reddit, or social media. Please pay attention to what they're doing right and wrong. Don't worry if solutions already exist. Competition is a good sign because it means people spend money to solve your target problem. From there, think like a media company first. Create content around the problem you are solving. Share helpful tips, insights, or simple solutions in places where your audience hangs out online. This builds trust, reduces customer acquisition costs, and ensures people stick around longer. Finally, just start. Launch a simple version of your solution quickly. Avoid being reckless, but don't get stuck overthinking, either. Remember to test early and often, and don't take it personally if things don't immediately work out. Just adjust your approach and keep moving forward. My two centsFinding good ideas is an art, but you can get the hang of it with some practice. Just remember to stay curious, use your imagination, and be patient. I could have given you a generic list of ideas, but that does not serve you. This is one of those times where I need to teach you how to fish rather than give you the fish. The main thing to remember is to get clear on your goal first and let that guide everything else. Always focus on solving a real problem. The deeper you dig into the problem and the people facing it, the more ideas will start coming to you. By the way, Want more data-driven marketing insights and actionable business ideas like this? Sign up for my free newsletter, No Fluff Just Facts. Hope this helps. I'm rooting for you. Featured
