Sitting on the west banks of Lake Memphremagog, the Lakeside Gallery Residence is a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional barn volume typical to rural Qubec. The design repeats this prototypical form in four different articulationsan outdoor summer home, an indoor winter home, a living quarter, and a guest quarter. Cedar roofs, brick walls, and glass bridges tie the four volumes into one singular experience.Save this picture! This waterfront, 6-bedroom residence is oriented to capture the breathtaking sunsets at the serene lake. Designed for an art collector-couple, it offers generous spaces to host family gatherings and entertain friends. Inside, a series of galleries and in situ installations are an inviting surprise to discover and experience art that is seamlessly integrated with the architecture. Floor-to-ceiling exterior glass walls frame the natural landscape beyond, which serves as a dynamic backdrop shifting with time and seasons.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!Same volume, different functions - The house is a juxtaposition of four programmatically distinct volumes with unique purposes. Situated closest to the lake is the outdoor summer terrassea 100-feet-long and encompassing an exterior kitchen, al fresco dining, fireside lounge, and heated pool. Just behind, the indoor winter home is an open plan comprising a kitchen, dining, living room, and music lounge. The living quarter houses the primary suite, office, wine cellar, pantry, and powder room. The guest quarters are situated farthest from the lake and hold four bedrooms each with an ensuite bathroom, and a guest lounge. Glass bridges and clerestory windows provide each volume with an abundance of indirect natural light to showcase the art and create informal thresholds between the spaces.Save this picture!Save this picture!Framing the lake - The Lakeside Gallery Residence is constructed in reinforced concrete, steel framing, and brick walls. A structural system was devised to install motorized glass spanning more than 55 feet to capture an uninterrupted view of the Lake and the surrounding landscape. The 11-foot-tall wood entry door opens into an art gallery and frames the lake. The open-plan kitchen features fully glazed windows in lieu of cabinetry, flooding the space with natural light.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!Weathering over time - The natural material finishes both inside and out were carefully selected to age gracefully and slowly acquire a layer of patina to reflect the passing of time. The exterior walls use dark-toned, waterstruck clay bricks sourced from Denmark and the oversized roof shingles were custom-fabricated in a local workshop. The stonework visible at the terrace, garden, exterior kitchen, and fireplace is a mix of locally sourced, black and gray Cambrian granite. The interior kitchen island is a single, rough stone block with a charred, live-edge walnut slab resting atop to achieve bar-height dining. A series of supporting spaces complete the chalet experience, from a cork-lined indoor gym to a billiard room wrapped in deep blue corduroy drapery and a wine cellar specifically designed for Bourgogne wine.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!In-situ art installations - The powder room is lined on all sides with a custom mural representing the four seasons and playfully collages events of the owner's lives. An oil-rubbed bronze vanity stands in the center, lightly reflecting the mural tones. A second installation by the same artist conceptualizes floating iceberg mosaics in contrast to the warm water of the heated pool. The residence was designed as the medium between the large, expansive views of the lake and a desire to be surrounded by art. Walls were strategically positioned to avoid dividing the spaces while serving as a canvas for the owner's growing art collection.Save this picture!Save this picture! The wine cellar houses an excess of 1200 bottles, specifically biased toward the unique shape of a Bourgogne bottle. The micro-fluted glass-and-bronze door gives into a space clad in white oak millwork compressed between a gravel floor and a bronze ceiling. Recessed lighting and bronze mirrors dramatize the interior with a warm glow and reflections throughout.Save this picture!Project gallerySee allShow lessAbout this officePublished on March 17, 2025Cite: "Lakeside Gallery Residence / Atelier chelle" 17 Mar 2025. The apartment on Zhrebsk Street is located in the corner position of an apartment building on the highest floors. Originally a two-room maisonette with a studio, it has undergone a significant change in layout. The current concept seeks to make the most of its potential by incorporating a large terrace overlooking the Carpathians.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture! The lower floor of the apartment serves as a night zone with a bedroom, a children's room and a bathroom separated by a translucent copilite wall, which brings light into the entrance hall. The dominant staircase leads to a large open space serving as the living part. The inserted central box divides the space into various functions and at the same time offers additional areas for displaying paintings. There is a reading room, a piano area, a kitchen with a dining area and a living room. The box not only serves as a toilet, but also works as a mood room lamp. The space is illuminated on all sides by large windows, from which it is possible to exit to the terrace.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!Mobile stairs, a long "kitchen unit", a sofa on different sides gives the apartment flexibility. The interior itself is built on visually solitary furniture, which underlines the cleanliness and diversity of the space. • Amazon is clearing out DJIs waterproof 4K action camera for its lowest price ever
    www.popsci.com
You probably know DJI best for its excellent drones, but the company also makes a heck of an action camera. Right now, Amazon has the DJI Osmo Action 4 camera for just $199, down from its regular price of $289. This is the cheapest I have ever seen this specific camera, which is good because you dont want to spend a ton on something youre going to put in danger on the regular. Grab one and go capture some epic nature photos or just videos of your friends doing really stupid things. Both are great.DJI Osmo Action 4 Essential Combo, 4K/120fps Waterproof Action Camera $199 (was $289)DJI This is technically the previous generation of Osmo action camera since version 5 is already on the market. But version 4 is currently more than $100 cheaper than the new model, and youre really sacrificing very little. The Osmo Action 4 has a large sensor (at least in regards to action cameras), so its excellent in low light. That cuts down on grainy footage. Plus, it has DJIs top-notch image stabilization tech inside. That tech was born from the companys work on drones and camera stabilizers, so its extremely effective. It captures 4K footage with an ultra-wide lens and doesnt need an extra case to be fully waterproof and rugged. It can survive at depths down to 59 feet right out of the box. The included battery gets up to 160 minutes of recording time, which is great for long adventures. While its priced like a consumer model, this camera has some features that higher-end shooters will appreciate, like the ability to shoot in 10-bit and D-Log. You dont need to know what any of that means, but the option is there if you want to learn it later.More DJI Osmo kit dealsDepending on what youre filming, youll need specific mounts and other gear, and DJI offers convenient packages that save you money. So, if you need stuff to take the camera skiing, you can get it all in one shot and get a discount at the same time.
