  • Several Major Publishers To Delay Game Releases To Avoid GTA 6, Says A Report
    cgshares.com
RockstarWe dont need a fortune teller to tell one thing thats for sure going to happen in the future: GTA 6 is going to be a massive hit to create an earthquake in the industry when it arrives in the fall of this year. And EA is not alone in considering delaying their upcoming title, the next Battlefield, due to the unknown release date of Rockstars highly-anticipated title.A recent report from The Game Business has brought up this topic, with several major video game publishers reportedly considering delaying their own game launches to avoid, you know, showing up around the same timeframe as GTA 6 does. This timeframe has been called the blast zone, a boss from a studio who is the developer behind one of the top 10 live-service games told TGB. It refers to the three to four weeks before and after its release like a huge meteor which publishers want to avoid. The boss of one of the worlds biggest game publishers said, Rockstar games always suck a lot of money and, more importantly, time out of the market. We dont want to be anywhere near that. We are working up multiple different plans for our titles. Among the fierce competition in the industry for more attention from players, GTA 6 just makes what is already difficult even worse. A senior exec added, Even without GTA, its immensely difficult to find free time for new games to shine. Time is the real scarcity for us, not money. Its tough out there. While fall covers a few months, it certainly includes October and November. According to a European boss of a AAA publisher, it would be unwise to release games at the end of October or the beginning of November. If it arrives in late October, that means you either have to launch early which a lot of people seem to be doing with the recent glut of summer release dates. Or go later, putting you up against the Black Friday sales.RockstarReading here, you might have a question in mind are the developers and publishers overreacting? Is it really going to be that bad, or are they just being too nervous? Well, let the data talk. As shared by TGB, when GTA 5 launched in September 2013, it set a record as the biggest entertainment launch ever. In the US, it sucked 50% of all game revenue that month, even though it was released in the middle. In the UK, it took up 89% of all games sold and 94% of revenue in its debut week. Just as another developer said: Theres no point swimming against the current. We just need to prepare to win players back once the excitement has started to die down. This makes all these concerns and considerations reasonable.Of course, with all these worries on the table, the publishers arent going to simply let it be. As said, theyve come up with various plans to cater to different situations. Yet, although Rockstar says GTA 6s release is on track, things are not 100% sure yet. The same European boss couldnt help but let out their anxiety: If we move out to 2025, what if Rockstar do, too? Will we have time to push our game up? Or will we have to delay further? Its stressful.Do you think its understandable for publishers to set schedules according to the big titles release time? Share your thoughts with us. • Theft, Misinformation & Plagiarism: Beware of BlenderHub and Unity3DHub Twitter Pages
    cgshares.com
Although were usually pretty chill about other websites copying 80 Levels core concept of highlighting the best in the digital art industry hoping these imitators still have the best interests of Digital Artists in mind this particular duo of Twitter/X pages has recently trampled on everything we stand for, becoming notorious for spreading misinformation, siphoning sales from real creators, and even blatantly plagiarizing the social media posts of yours truly, making it a personal matter we couldnt remain silent about. The first Twitter page wed like to discuss is @Unity3dHub7, a relatively new and unknown page focusing on Unity-made artworks and assets.Active since December 2024, Unity3DHub became the center of negative attention only recently, when one of their posts about Harry Heaths Lattice Modifier for Unity went viral, receiving a community note and a wave of negative comments for failing to tag the assets original creator and posting an incorrect link that led to an entirely different product Jonathan van Immerzeels Spline Mesher.Although some were quick to accuse Jonathan, a.k.a. Staggart Creations, of trying to promote his asset in a dishonest manner, with even the community note stating that this individual is using other peoples videos to promote his own asset, Staggart Creations himself clarified that he had nothing to do with it, also pointing out that the link in the original post was incorrect. While it could have been dismissed as an honest mistake, upon closer inspection, its anything but a one-off, as we found numerous Unity3DHub posts containing incorrect links, all leading to Spline Mesher for some reason.Whenever a post from this page doesnt contain incorrect links, it usually means there are no links at all, with one of their most recent posts basically stealing content from Game Developer Levi Murray without properly crediting him, while also spreading misinformation by using hashtags that suggested the showcased demo was powered by Unity even though it was actually set up in Godot. The cherry on top of this reeking cake is Unity3DHub plagiarizing a number of 80 Levels social media posts word for word, without even bothering to rephrase them to avoid looking too suspicious. Here are some examples:1 of 21 of 21 of 21 of 2The second Twitter page that shares most of the same flaws as Unity3DHub is the much more popular BlenderHub, which got on our radar in 2024 for trying to siphon sales revenue from actual Blender Artists and paying Google to make BlenderHubs affiliate link the first thing you see when you search for Blender Market. No credit to asset creators, incorrect links leading not to the showcased products but to BlenderHubs website, word-for-word plagiarism of 80 Levels social media posts everything Unity3DHub is guilty of, BlenderHub does as well. In fact, the most recent case of plagiarism occurred just a few hours ago, as of this writing, with BlenderHub copying our 2021 tweet celebrating Greg Edwards mind-blowing experiment with Mental Canvas:1 of 2While we couldnt find concrete evidence that both pages are run by the same person, a number of circumstantial factors such as name similarities, similar behavior, both pages promoting generative AI, etc. suggest that BlenderHub and Unity3DHub are likely operated by a single individual. The individual in question is Sofiane Maroc, the confirmed owner of BlenderHub and, presumably, Unity3DHub, whose work was actually highlighted by 80 Level in the past, which explains his familiarity with our social media posts. As to why a promising 3D Artist would choose to remove all of his products from Blender Market and instead resort to an appalling way of making money by siphoning them from other creators through affiliate links and taking sponsorship money from AI companies is beyond me. I know the term grifter has lost all its meaning by now due to being overused, but it sure seems that Sofiane is a grifter in the original sense of the word, so, my best advice is, whenever you come across the names Sofiane Maroc, BlenderHub, or Unity3DHub, its best to steer clear.Dont forget tojoin our80 Level Talent platformand ournew Discord server, follow us onInstagram,Twitter,LinkedIn,Telegram,TikTok, andThreads, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.Source link The post Theft, Misinformation & Plagiarism: Beware of BlenderHub and Unity3DHub Twitter Pages appeared first on CG SHARES.
