One of SteelSeries’ best gaming headsets is on sale for its Black Friday price
If you’re looking for a new gaming headset, one of our favorite models is currently discounted to its Black Friday price at Best Buy. The SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless is usually $279.99, but you can currently pick up a pair of these sick cans for just $139.99. While the Arctis Pro may not be quite as fancy as the current flagship gaming headset from SteelSeries, the Nova Pro Wireless, it still shares a number of significant features with its successor. These include virtual surround sound capability, and swappable battery packs. Just like the Nova Pro Wireless, the Arctis Pro comes packaged with a base station that can be tethered to either your PC, Nintendo Switch, or PlayStation via USB, and allows you to seamlessly swap between inputs in addition to charging the headsets battery packs. Primarily designed to be used with gaming consoles, the Arctis Pro Wireless also features an optical input, plus Bluetooth connectivity if you’d like to pair the headset with your phone. While the Arctis Pro is a little over six years old at this point, if something breaks or you want to swap out the headband for something more your style, SteelSeries still supports this headset with a robust collection of accessories and replacement parts.

TikTok Is Getting Community Notes Now Too
TikTok is joining the ranks of social networks with Community Notes programs, which allow users to add context, corrections, and additional information to posts on the platform. The new feature is called Footnotes, and it will be rolled out first on short-form videos in the U.S. TikTok is just the latest app to add user-generated notes for existing content, though it has yet to drop formal fact-checking and other content moderation entirely. In February, Meta announced plans for a Community Notes beta to replace fact-checking on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads and is now admitting contributors from the program's waitlist. YouTube and X both have active Community Notes programs as well (X's Community Notes, formerly known as Birdwatch, replaced the option to report misleading content). According to TikTok's page explaining the program, Footnotes can only be added to public posts but will remain visible if those posts are made private. Creators can add footnotes to and rate footnotes on their own content if they are enrolled contributors. Footnotes must meet a threshold for "helpful" as rated by contributors before they become visible to all users (who can then vote on them as well). TikTok will still partner with IFCN-accredited fact-checking organizations to assess the accuracy of content on the platform. How to sign up to write TikTok FootnotesUsers in the U.S. can apply to write Footnotes starting today if they are at least 18 years old, have been on TikTok for six months or more, have a valid email address or U.S. phone number, and have no history of violating the platform's community guidelines within the last six months. TikTok may also notify users who meet these eligibility requirements, and those approved for the program can begin contributing "over the coming months."

Sony raises PlayStation Plus prices in Canada
Sony is jacking up PlayStation Plus prices in Canada. In an email to Engadget's Kris Holt, the company said the increase would apply to subscribers' first payments on or after June 24. The price hikes are now live on the PS Plus website for new Canadian subscribers. They vary depending on the tier and billing period but range from 12 to 22 percent higher than they were yesterday. The new Canadian prices for PS Plus Premium are CA$25 monthly (up from $21), $69 for three months (from $60) and — yikes — $225 for a year (from $190). Meanwhile, Extra members will now pay $21 monthly (from $18), $56 for three months (from $50) and $190 annually (from $155). Finally, Essential subscribers' prices go up to $14 monthly (from $12), $35 for three months (from $30) and $110 annually (from $95). Sony Other countries saw (previously announced) price increases go into effect on Wednesday. These include — deep breath — Australia, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. So far, we haven't seen or heard of any US or UK price increases. The company didn't mention the elephant in the room — tariffs — in its email, instead justifying the price increase in vague terms. "This is necessary to enable us to continue bringing you high-quality games and benefits," it stated. But in a blog post last week announcing similar rate hikes in other countries, Sony perhaps hinted at the "T" word. "Like many businesses around the world, we continue to be impacted by global market conditions and will be adjusting our local prices for PlayStation Plus," Game Services Director Adam Michel wrote. This article originally appeared on Engadget at https://www.engadget.com/gaming/playstation/sony-raises-playstation-plus-prices-in-canada-205342723.html?src=rss

Need a moment of zen? Millions are captivated by this livestream of the Great Moose Migration in Sweden
Given all the recent bad news on the world stage, from tariffs wars to the war in Ukraine, it’s no wonder Swedes are seeking a moment of zen by watching a livestream of “The Great Moose Migration” (loosely translated from the Swedish, “Den stora älgvandringen“). The 24-hour event, which runs for 20 days straight, kicked off on Tuesday. Since it first aired in 2019, it’s been providing soothing entertainment for millions of Swedes each year around this time. That first year, nearly a million Swedes tuned in to literally watch moose walk through forests and swim across the Ångerman River, all captured by remote cameras and drones, the Associated Press reported. By last year, the sleeper hit had a whopping 9 million viewers, who followed along on Sweden’s national public television’s streaming platform, SVT Play. This year, the livestream started airing a week earlier, as the moose got an early start due to warmer weather. From now until May 4, viewers can watch dozens of moose migrate to their favorite pastures located about 187 miles northwest of Stockholm, the country’s capital. Sure, there’s not much happening, but that’s why so many people find it relaxing. So much so, that more than 78,000 Swedes have joined a Facebook group with fans sharing photos of their TV screens when moose appear, according to NBC News. In fact, “The Great Moose Migration” is part of a larger global trend of relaxing, nature-oriented livestreams with not too much going on, which began in 2009 when NRK, Norway’s public broadcaster, aired a seven-hour train trip across the southern part of the country. That trend has even extended to the U.S., where thousands of captivated viewers have tuned in to watch a couple of wild eagles, Jackie and Shadow, and their growing family via the bald eagle nest cam in California.

How to Screen Record on a Mac with Audio
Macworld “Hoping someone has a solid recommendation on a plug-in or some way to do this correctly, without installing a bunch of questionable plug-ins on my Macbook. I want to record a Facetime video call, but capture audio from all parties. I tested this with Quicktime Player, which resulted in excellent video quality, but only audio from me, everyone elses audio on the call was not captured.” -A post from Reddit There are many reasons you might need to record your Mac screen – whether it is capturing Zoom or Teams calls for work, saving online courses for later, recording gameplay to share, or creating video tutorials and reviews. Whatever your purpose is, you need to learn some basic ways to record your Mac screen. Tips for screen recording on a Mac Whether to use built-in tools or third-party apps for screen recording largely depends on whether you need to capture system audio on Mac. When recording the screen on a Mac (Mojave or later), it is best to start with the Screenshot app. Make sure the microphone is selected if you want to record your voiceover. It is advisable to tidy up your screen, close unnecessary apps (especially if Mac is lagging during recording), and turn off notifications. Check your internal drive to make sure there is enough free space for the recording. For privacy, security, and copyright reasons, Apple only allows sound recording via the microphone. This applies to screen recording on all Mac devices (MacBook Air/Pro, iMac, and Mac Mini/Pro/Studio) as well as iOS devices like iPhones and iPads. You can use the Screenshot app or QuickTime Player to record your Mac screen with background sound and, if needed, your own voice. However, for clear internal audio, third-party screen recorder software is required. Recording screen video on a Mac using the Screenshot app (macOS Mojave and later) Keyboard shortcut: Shift + Command + 5 The built-in Screenshot app was introduced in macOS Mojave (10.14, 2018). If your Mac (post-2012 models) runs Mojave or later, you can launch it instantly using the shortcut Shift + ⌘ + 5. A floating thumbnail preview will appear on the screen, and you can also find the app via Launchpad. Screenshot offers two options for screen recording: ‘Record Entire Screen’ and ‘Record Selected Portion’. It also includes easy-to-use tools for taking screenshots. Before you start recording, click ‘Options’ in the toolbar to customize your recording settings. Aiseesoft To record your Mac screen with audio, select a microphone. For better sound quality, you can connect an external microphone. If you need a timed recording, set a recording timer, and choose where to save the file according to your preference. You can also enable Show Mouse Clicks to highlight clicks with a black circle around the pointer. To start recording, click the Record button in the pop-up toolbar. If you select Record Entire Screen, your mouse pointer will turn into a camera icon – simply click to begin. If you are recording a portion of the Mac screen, adjust the selection by dragging the borders, then press Enter to start. To stop recording, click the Stop Recording button in the menu bar or press Command + Control + Esc. The recorded video will open in QuickTime Player, your Mac’s default media player. Click Play to review your recording file. Recording your screen on a Mac using the QuickTime Player Mac screen recording shortcut: Control + Command + N Click File in the menu bar and choose New Screen Recording, or use the shortcut Control + ⌘ + N to bring up the onscreen controls. If you see the same onscreen controls as shown earlier, follow similar steps to record your Mac’s screen. The screen recording on a Mac is actually handled by the Screenshot app. If your Mac is running a version earlier than Mojave (e.g., pre-2012 models), the Screen Recording window will look different. In this case, you will be using QuickTime Player instead. Aiseesoft Before starting the Mac screen recording, click the arrow next to the Record button. Adjust settings and then click the red Record button. To stop the recording, click the Stop button in the menu bar, or use the shortcut (Command + Control + Esc). The captured video will open in QuickTime Player, where you can play, edit, or share it as needed. Where do screen recordings go on Mac?  Whether you use the Screenshot app or QuickTime Player to capture your Mac screen, the recording will be saved to your desktop by default. You will see a thumbnail of the recorded video in the top-right corner of your screen. To change the save location, click Options and select a different folder. Third-party software for recording Mac screen with internal audio  If you also need to record the system audio on your Mac, try well-regarded, user-friendly screen recorders like Aiseesoft Screen Recorder, Loom, OBS Studio, ScreenFlow, or Snagit. Compared with the above methods, these recorders are more professional in screen and audio recording. Aiseesoft Once you have chosen a screen recorder for Mac, launch the app and configure the image and audio settings. Similar to macOS’s native tools, these third-party apps are intuitive and easy to use. Typically, you will need to select the recording area (entire screen, active window, or a custom region) and the audio source (system audio, microphone, or both), and then start the screen capture. How to edit screen recordings on a Mac As mentioned, the screen recording file will be stored on your desktop. You can play it in QuickTime Player and make some basic edits. Simply go to the Edit menu, where you will find options like Cut, Rotate, Flip, Trim, Remove Audio, Remove Video, and more. For adding transitions such as voiceovers or text, controlling playback speed, adjusting audio or adding background music, use iMovie. If you are looking for more professional editing, software like Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, and ScreenFlow are excellent options. However, these can be complex for casual users, so it is worth trying their free or trial versions first to see if they meet your needs. Conclusion Screen recording on a Mac is fairly simple. For casual users, the built-in macOS tools are usually sufficient for basic tasks. However, if you record your Mac screen frequently and need more advanced functions, a dedicated screen recorder may be worth considering.
