Save 50% Off the Top-End SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless Gaming Headset
For a limited time, Best Buy is offering the SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless gaming headset for PC, PS4, and PlayStation 5 for just $139.99, or a whopping 50% off the $280 list price. This is $50 less than SteelSeries' Easter Sale deal price of $189.99. The Arctis Pro is a top-end SteelSeries headset (in fact, its flagship model before the Nova Arctis Pro was released), and one of only two models with swappable batteries.50% Off SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless Gaming HeadsetSteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless HeadsetThe Arctis Pro was the highest-end gaming headset in SteelSeries' repertoire until its successor, the Arctis Nova Pro, was released. It boasts some great features you don't see in other gaming headsets, like a separate standalone base station with volume knob and OLED display, simultaneous Bluetooth and 2.4GHz WiFi pairing, and probably the best one: the hot-swappable battery system. This way, you get wireless freedom with no waiting to recharge. SteelSeries includes two batteries: one that's in use in your headset and the other that's charging in the base station. The Arctis Pro features as good of a build quality you'll find in a SteelSeries headset. The headband is made of a lightweight steel and aluminum alloy construction and the suspension headstrap is very comfortable for marathon gaming sessions. The ear cushions are made of an AirWeave performance fabric similar to the ones found on the new Arctis Nova Pro. The ClearCast boom microphone can be retracted when not in use. Audio quality is great thanks to the premium 40mm speaker drivers with high-density neodymium magnets that reproduce hi-res audio up to 40,000Hz.SteelSeries Arctis Pro Review by Matt Elliot"The SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless boasts premium build quality, a comfortable design, and outstanding sound. Plus, the clever battery-swapping design means you’ll never be without power. As good as its sound is, however, I give the performance edge to the Arctis Pro + GameDAC. Sure, it’s wired, but it’s still very comfortable and versatile and $70 cheaper. Or you can save a bundle and opt for the wireless Arctis 7 for less than half the price."The Arctis Pro was replaced by the Arctis Nova Pro in 2022. The current best price for a brand new pair of Nova Pros is $270 on Amazon. Although it's an excellent headset that we reviewed favorably and features significant upgrades like active noise cancellation and USB Type-C charging, it most certainly isn't worth nearly double the cost of the Arctis Pro.Why Should You Trust IGN's Deals Team?IGN's deals team has a combined 30+ years of experience finding the best discounts in gaming, tech, and just about every other category. Apple wanted people to vibe code Vision Pro apps with Siri
Seeing people who aren’t developers create apps through vibe coding lately has reminded me of something from two years ago that bodes well for the future of Siri. Vibe coding is the term assigned to the process of building apps using AI by describing the app that you want to exist. Vibe coders need no prior knowledge of app development. AI tools like ChatGPT provide the expertise. Vibe coders just bring the vision. The thing that vibe coding reminded me of is a Wayne Ma report for The Information in January 2023. It ran under the headline “Apple Devising Software to Help Anyone Build AR Apps, to Drive Headset Sales.” Based on the report, it sure sounds like the Apple Vision Pro team under new Siri boss Mike Rockwell saw where AI was headed before vibe coding arrived. From the report at the time: With the software tools, Apple hopes that even people who don’t know computer code could tell the headset, via the Siri voice assistant, to build an AR app that could then be made available via Apple’s App Store for others to download. The tool, for example, could allow users to build an app with virtual animals moving around a room and over or around real-life objects without the need to design the animal from scratch, program its animations and calculate its movement in a 3D space with obstacles. Publishing software to the App Store that was created using Siri seemed far-fetched. Two years later, it seems evident that Mike Rockwell saw vibe coding on the horizon and thought it could be a compelling tool for Apple Vision Pro. No such feature was ever announced by Apple, however, and it hasn’t been brought up in reporting since. Apple is still trying to get Siri AI features that it announced almost a year in shape to reach customers. However, my takeaway from revisiting this report is that Rockwell’s team had more ambitions for Siri two years ago than anything we’ve seen ship. That’s the best argument for why Mike Rockwell might actually be the right person to push Siri forward right now. Elon Musk Lost It on a Call With the Government After Autopilot Killed a Tesla Driver
In March 2018, Tesla Model X owner Walter Huang died after his vehicle crashed into a concrete highway median at 71 mph — while its Autopilot driver assistance software, a buzzy new feature at the time, was turned on.The entire front of the vehicle was ripped off, sending the SUV spinning. Huan was pronounced dead hours after being taken to the hospital.According to details released years later, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) confirmed that the software Huang had been using Autopilot, and had informed both his brother and his wife that it had previously swerved toward the exact road barrier into which he ultimately crashed.Huang also put enough trust in the software to pull out his iPhone to play a mobile game right up until the fatal crash. The incident, an inflection point highlighting glaring shortcomings of the driver assistance software, and the subsequent investigation by regulators, seemingly enraged Tesla CEO Elon Musk.As detailed in a newly published excerpt of Washington Post tech reporter Faiz Siddiqui's book titled "Hubris Maximus: The Shattering of Elon Musk," set to be released on April 22, Musk hung up on the NTSB in pure rage.Former NTSB board member Robert Sumwalt told Siddiqui that Musk had "fumed, protested, threatened to sue, and abruptly exited the conversation when safety investigators refused to bend to his will."The spat was over Tesla trying to get ahead of the investigation by preemptively disclosing data, plus accusing Huang of distracted driving and engaging Autopilot even though he knew it wasn't reliable."The crash happened on a clear day with several hundred feet of visibility ahead, which means that the only way for this accident to have occurred is if Mr. Huang was not paying attention to the road, despite the car providing multiple warnings to do so," Tesla's since-disbanded PR department wrote in a press statement at the time.Sumwalt was appalled that the EV maker was blaming Huang, especially so early on in the investigation."What you did, Elon, was a violation of our party agreement," he told Musk over the phone, referring to Tesla preemptively releasing data, as quoted by Siddiqui. "We spoke about this last week. You agreed that you would abide by our requirements."Musk erupted in anger, accusing Sumwalt of putting people in danger and eventually threatening to sue him.But the fuming Musk didn't want out completely. "I don’t want us to be removed from the investigation," he reportedly said."It’s too late for that," Sumwalt recalled responding to him, resulting in the billionaire hanging up on the call. There may be an emotional component. Former NTSB managing director Dennis Jones told the author that Musk felt cornered and like "we're all beating up on him."Musk maintains that his EV maker's driver assistance software will ultimately make roads safer for everybody. However, the features have been linked to hundreds of crashes and dozens of deaths by federal regulators since then, indicating glaring technical shortcomings. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has also warned that making use of the EV maker's misleadingly called "Full Self-Driving" software can lull users into a false sense of security because they're not "sufficiently engaged in the driving task."Musk has also been accused of applying faulty logic to make it look like the software is safer than human drivers, and Tesla has been charged with withholding crucial driving data related to collisions. To the mercurial CEO, regulation remains a major hindrance to rolling out potentially lifesaving tech.Since then, Tesla has pushed ahead, rolling out iterative versions of its infamous FSD software, allowing users to test it out on public roads on the company's behalf. Now that Musk has quickly become one of president Donald Trump's closest allies, the EV maker may soon have far fewer regulations to deal with. In December, documents obtained by Reuters suggested that the administration was looking to drop a federal car-cash reporting requirement — which could greatly undermine the government's efforts to investigate Tesla's infamous driver-assistance software. The NTSB also faced an existential crisis earlier this year, clambering to keep investigators from leaving after Trump offered them to resign and get paid through September. The NHTSA has also been hit with major layoffs by Musk's so-called Department of Government Efficiency, a glaring conflict of interest.Put simply, Musk appears to have had the last laugh — at least for now.Share This Article

The Next ‘Star Wars’ Film Has Its Official Title
It’s official: Ryan Gosling is headed to the galaxy far, far away.At Star Wars Celebration in Japan this week, Gosling and director Shawn Levy took the stage to officially announce their upcoming Star Wars film, just the second that will (hopefully) hit theaters in the last eight years. The film will be called Star Wars: Starfighter. A post on the news on StarWars.com states that the film is “set approximately five years after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” and that “Gosling will play a brand-new character teased by the actor’s appearance on stage [at Star Wars Celebration].”READ MORE: Every Star Wars Film Ranked From Worst to BestProduction on Star Wars: Starfighter is set to begin this fall. A recent report claimed Levy and Gosling wanted recent Oscar winner Mikey Madison for a role in the film, but she supposedly passed on the project. While I wouldn’t presume it will be connected to it in any way, there has previously been a video game titled Star Wars: Starfighter. Released in 2001 on PlayStation 2 and Xbox, it let players take control of various spaceships for missions set around the events of the Star Wars prequels. (That will for sure be different than the movie, given its timeline.)Star Wars: Starfighter is now scheduled to open in theaters on May 28, 2027. That’s a little over one year after the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu (on May 22, 2026), and just three weeks after Avengers: Secret Wars on May 7, 2027. If those dates all hold, that will be quite a week.Get our free mobile app20 Actors You Forgot Were in Star Wars

    Reinforcing the Blender Trademark Guidelines
Reinforcing the Blender Trademark Guidelines April 18th, 2025 News Francesco Siddi html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/loose.dtd" As Blender grows in popularity, the amount of products and projects using “Blender” as part of their name is growing as well. While there are some short-term benefits in incorporating the “Blender” name in a product, there are often unintended consequences when it reaches a wider audience. For example: An extension becomes popular and starts charging a fee to download. Using Blender as part of the brand could imply a relationship or endorsement from the Blender project.  A community website or service starts being considered official or affiliated to the project, because it contains the Blender name in it. In reality, the project is fully independent. With the introduction of the Blender Extensions platform, branding issues become more obvious, as add-ons that have “Blender” in their name could appear right inside the software, creating confusion.  As general branding guidelines for products or services, we recommend third parties to avoid using the name “Blender”, especially not as the start of the name. Blender Foundation wishes to distinguish official products or services that way. For example: Blender Conference, Blender Extensions, Blender ID. This explained in detail in the Trademark Policy page. While we understand that using the name “Blender” in a product will give quick recognition and short term benefits, it is also common sense that in the mid and long term developing a unique own brand for products will always be more beneficial. It allows you to trademark it, promote it, and expand it beyond Blender itself. Besides that, brand diversity in the Blender ecosystem is highly desirable, as it reflects the amount of independent business happening around Blender. This is what happened with Blender Market. At the time (15 years ago), the idea of creating a commercial Blender-focused marketplace was truly pioneering, and that initiative was welcomed and supported by Blender Foundation. Initially, it was helpful for the market to bear Blender’s name as it helped with discoverability. Today, not so much, as it often gets mistaken for Blender’s actual marketplace.  Blender does not have plans to create an add-on marketplace, but rather focus on the free extensions platform, so it becomes important to set a distinction between the two. Last year, Autotroph (the organization behind Blender Market) announced the decision to rebrand the marketplace to “Superhive”, in an effort to align with the Blender trademark policies. The rebrand is now in place, and this is something that Blender Foundation highly appreciates.  Existing and new products featuring the Blender name are encouraged to follow Blender Market’s steps. We understand that websites and products using the name Blender already for a long time, will not find it practical or desirable to rename.  Blender Foundation does not intend to seek legal or public action in cases of such trademark violations. However, Blender Foundation does reserve the right to not advertise confusingly named Blender products on the extensions platform. For more information, blender.org/about/trademark-policy.
