WWW.GADGETS360.COMRay-Ban Meta Glasses to Launch in India Soon; Live Translation Feature Rolls Out WidelyMeta Platforms on Wednesday announced that the Ray-Ban Meta Glasses will soon be available for purchase in India among other regions. The smart glasses were first launched in September 2023 and only in the US. Although their availability has since been expanded to include more regions, they haven't been made available for sale in India, until now. Alongside their expanded availability, the company introduced new styles and features, such as expansion of live translation, and the ability to send and receive direct messages (DMs) and video calls through Instagram.Ray-Ban Meta Glasses Expanded AvailabilityAs per Meta, the Ray-Ban Meta Glasses will soon be launched in India, Mexico, and the UAE. Priced at $299 (roughly Rs. 25,000) for the base frame in the US, the smart glasses, which have been developed in collaboration with EssilorLuxottica, feature a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, open-ear speakers, and microphones. These are said to enable users to capture snapshots, listen to music, and have conversations — all on the go.However, the company is yet to share details regarding the pricing and the availability of the Ray-Ban Meta Glasses in India.Updates to Ray-Ban Meta GlassesRay-Ban Meta glasses is now available in new designs. Customers can choose from new styles for the glasses, such as the Skyler Shiny Chalk Grey with Transitions Sapphire lenses, Skyler Shiny Black with G15 Green lenses, or the Skyler Shiny Black variant with Clear lenses. The company introduced live translation in December 2024 but it was limited to the US and Canada and only in early access. This feature is now being rolled out widely to include all the markets in which the smart glasses are available. It brings real-time speech translation capabilities between English and either Spanish, French, or Italian languages with a simple “Hey Meta, start live translation” command.Users can play the translated audio through the open-ear speakers and get a transcription of the conversation. Additionally, language packs can be downloaded which eliminate the need of connecting the glasses to a Wi-Fi network for the live translation feature to work.Meta is also upgrading Instagram's integration with a new feature which lets users send and receive DMs, photos, audio calls, and video calls from the app on your glasses. They can simply say, “Hey Meta, send a message to Lisa on Instagram”, and the smart glasses will send a DM on Instagram, the company explains. It is also expanding the access to music apps beyond the US and Canada. Ray-Ban Meta Glasses users in other regions can play music on the smart glasses through apps like Spotify, Amazon Music, and Apple Music. It allows you to ask queries about the tracks you're listening to.Another notable improvement is said to be to the Live AI feature. Introduced in December last year, it grants Meta AI access to Ray-Ban Meta Glasses' cameras to monitor the video feed in real-time. The company says its chatbot can continuously see the user's surroundings and answer questions about them. They can invoke Meta AI without the “Hey Meta” command and can even ask follow-up questions. With the update, Meta AI can hold conversations more naturally, with a smooth, natural tone. Live AI is also being made available to more regions in the EU. WWW.POLYGON.COMNintendo’s awkward marketing language, explainedWhile everyone was enjoying the massive deluge of Switch 2 news Nintendo uncorked on April 2, my broken brain couldn’t help but focus on something far less important: awkward marketing language.I’ve struggled to come up with a succinct and simplistic way to explain this to other people, so let’s instead use an example from last week’s presentation on Mario Kart World. Listen to how the narrator begins this video around the 21-second mark and see if you can spot what I’m talking about.“Drivers! Start… your… engines!”All good so far. Go-karts traditionally have both drivers and engines.“Welcome to the Mario Kart World game…”Hm. I’m noticing a few unnecessary words there, but maybe over a decade in writing has given me permanent editor brain.“…available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 system!”Okay, yeah, he’s definitely using too many words. The phrases “the Mario Kart World game” and “the Nintendo Switch 2 system” are so awkward, and this isn’t the first time Nintendo’s referred to its products like this. Here’s another example from a Super Mario Bros. Wonder stream from August 2023. It starts around the 1:34 mark if my timestamp doesn’t work.“In this presentation, we’ll go over what’s new in Mario’s latest 2D, side-scrolling adventure, the Super Mario Bros. Wonder game!”My dude, just say “Super Mario Bros. Wonder.” When Sony and Microsoft put on these kinds of direct-to-consumer broadcasts, they don’t say “the Death Stranding 2: On the Beach game” or “the Xbox Series X system.” Why are you doing this? I hate it so much.I reached out to Nintendo asking for context on this odd quirk, and while a rep acknowledged my request, no one got back to me for a week. Fortunately, former Nintendo public relations manager and host of the Kit & Krysta web show Krysta Yang was more than happy to fill me in.“Essentially, this is a legal requirement for Nintendo to properly refer to their products at all times,” Yang told me via email. “The legal and [intellectual property] teams at Nintendo are very strict with how products are referred to.”She went on to say it was also a matter of Nintendo not wanting its product names to weaken with overuse.“The legal team would use the example of the brand Bandaid and how that is actually a brand name but now the name has been diluted as people refer to any bandages as a bandaid,” Yang said. “They do not want this to happen to any Nintendo product hence the very stilted way they would refer to all products.”It’s official: Nintendo is weird. Then again, four out of five of the top-selling consoles are Nintendo products and the company continues to thrive despite mostly staying out of the resolution and frame rate arms races proliferated by its ostensible competition in the video game industry. Maybe those lawyers know what they’re doing after all, even if it still bugs the hell out of me.See More: Why it mattersMario Kart World answers the question, “How do you follow Mario Kart 8?” While the previous entry became fully stuffed with racetracks, playing Mario Kart World at Nintendo’s hands-on preview blew up my assumptions of what a Mario Kart track can be — and what the future could hold for the franchise.— Chelsea Stark, Executive Editor0 Kommentare 0 Anteile 36 Ansichten

WCCFTECH.COMTSMC Plans To Commence 1.4nm Wafer Production In 2028, With The Advanced Lithography Delivering As Much As Up To 30 Percent Performance And Efficiency ImprovementsMenu Home News Hardware Gaming Mobile Finance Deals Reviews How To Wccftech MobileSemiconductor TSMC Plans To Commence 1.4nm Wafer Production In 2028, With The Advanced Lithography Delivering As Much As Up To 30 Percent Performance And Efficiency Improvements Omar Sohail • Apr 24, 2025 at 12:18am EDT The 2nm race is currently being led by TSMC because at the start of the month, the foundry giant reportedly started accepting orders for its cutting-edge wafers, with Apple likely being the first recipient of this technology. It will take a few years for the Taiwanese semiconductor behemoth to transition to the more advanced node, but we should start seeing 1.4nm chips in the distant future, as the company has said that it will kick off production for the latter in 2028. Naturally, there will be significant benefits to transitioning to this manufacturing process, so let us jump into the details immediately. New process to make 1.4nm chips is called A14 or 14-Angstrom node, and is specifically designed for sub-2nm technology The announcement was made during TSMC’s North America Technology Symposium in Santa Clara, California, with the firm’s CEO C.C. Wei stating that ‘our customers’ are constantly looking into the future. In its quest to develop ‘start of the art’ wafers for a multitude of customers, TSMC’s only rival in this space is Samsung. However, we recently reported that the Korean giant had cancelled its own version of 1.4nm for undisclosed reasons. On the plus side, the company was later reported to have established a team laser-focused on 1nm chip development, with a mass production target set for 2029. Assuming Samsung sticks to its intended timeline, it can provide some competition to TSMC, leading to negotiable prices for this technology, but for the time being, the focus is likely on increasing those 2nm yields. As for the benefits of customers placing 1.4nm wafers orders, Nikkei Asia reports that the A14 node can deliver 15 percent improved performance and a 30 percent reduction in power consumption. There is currently no information regarding which client hinted at being the first to place orders for these 1.4nm chips, but we have a hunch that Apple’s close business relationship with TSMC and its ability to procure massive wafer shipments will make the deal between the two a major priority. Aside from introducing its A14 technology in 2028, TSMC also mentioned that it will introduce next-generation packaging technology that combines a bevy of chips with different functions into a single package, with production expected to begin in 2027. WCCFTECH.COMIntel’s Next-Gen Automotive SoCs Detailed: Frisco Lake With Panther Lake IP & Xe3 iGPU, Grizzly Lake With Up To 32 Nova Lake E-Cores & 7 TFLOPs iGPUIntel has detailed its next-gen SoCs, codenamed Frisco Lake & Grizzly Lake, which incorporate Panther Lake & Nova Lake IPs at the Shanghai Auto Show. Intel Fast Forwards Its Automotive SoC Roadmap With 2nd Gen Frisco Lake SDV SoC, Comes With Panther Lake uArch & 3rd Gen Xe Graphics, 10x AI Performance Well, Intel just announced its latest Automotive plans, and they seem to be going all in with new SoC designs that incorporate their latest and greatest architectures. Image Source: 3elife.net Starting first with the 2nd Gen SDV SoC, codenamed Frisco Lake, this family is going to feature a CPU architecture similar to the Panther Lake chips, which will be launching later this year and are aimed for volume production in the first half of 2026. The chips will employ the Panther Lake IP & core architecture and there's currently no word on the exact core counts, but the chips are said to feature TDPs ranging between 20 & 65 watts and offer 10x the AI performance and 61% efficiency improvement versus the prior generation which is based on the Raptor Lake architecture with a total of 12 cores configured between 12-45W. Another major upgrade will be the addition of the 3rd Gen Xe architecture, or Xe3, which is known as Celestial. This IP will replace the current Battlemage architecture and will be a big upgrade over the 1st Gen Xe (96 EU) design incorporated by the current generation SoCs. Other features include 12 Camera channels and 280 Audio channels. Furthermore, Harukaze5719 was able to confirm through Kernel patches that Frisco Lake is actually based on Panther Lake IP. Intel's Grizzly Lake "3rd Gen SDV" Platform With Monument Peak SoCs Based on Nova Lake IP Geared For 2027 Launch? But there's more: According to an early roadmap obtained by 3elife, it looks like Intel has much more ambitious plans for the future. These come in the form of Grizzly Lake, which will be the 3rd Gen SDV platform with processors codenamed Monument Peak. These SoCs are likely to feature the same IP as the Nova Lake CPUs and employ up to 32 E-Cores. Do note that the Nova Lake CPU platform is expected to feature as many as 52 cores, but those also include P-cores and LP-cores. Other details mention an Xe iGPU with up to 7 TFLOPs of compute performance, 6 display pipes, up to 12 cameras, AEC-Q100 Grade 2, and ASIL B support. Image Source: 3elife.net Now, if everything goes according to plan, we can expect the Grizzly Lake platform to launch some time in 202,7 as production was initially planned for 1H 2027. But that's the old plan, and a lot has changed over to Intel, but knowing that they are speeding up the automotive game to attract as many EV wins, it looks like we can still very well see a similar launch timeframe as originally planned.0 Kommentare 0 Anteile 37 Ansichten

GAMEDEV.NET[Ynamar Engine] #4 - Weekly Update [Map's, Npc's]Repository: https://github.com/Zotesso/YnamarEngineServer - ProgressSend the map to the client via TCPDid it using the protobuf contract previously established, stiil I'm feeling that the packet is too large, using a two dimensional array to the tiles, and having the same amount of tiles in each layer of the map, so it is a mxn matrix, in a 250x250 map I will have 62500 tiles multiplied by the amount of layers in the map, so I will have over 100K register in the database for each map, and will need to send it through the network.May be a huge problema later, but I'll implement ways to reduce this problem, like a cache in the server and in the client, in order that I just need to send the map the first time and when there is some change in it.Thinking about to load the map in batches when the player moves, but even that solve the performance problem this may bring problems with network.Npc'sCreated the model of Npc's, and MapNpc's.Created the method to control the Npc movement in all Maps.Game LoopCreated the main Game Loop in server, that will control all the game logic, update the maps, update the npc's movements, everything that needs to be automated.Client - ProgressHUDWas using Myra to draw UI, but I find out that Myra is very limited as I needed more customization started searching other options. So find Gum: https://docs.flatredball.com/gumGreat support, active project, fully open-source and works very well with Monogame, and even better very customizable. The only problem is that, using Gum in my project increased the Client Memory Usage from 60MB to 122MB, so I am kinda worried about it because I just used it for the login screen. In case it turns out to be a problem, I will have to create my own UI Components Library. But for now, Gum is being amazing.Npc'sCreated the handler to Npc movement, and included npc movement check in the main client loop (need to refactor, I think that loop is wasting resources, but there is no other way to control the npc movement animation) Draw the map based on the package received from the ServerNext StepsServer Side: Refactor the TCP and UDP stream to have a graceful failoverStart to work in Npc/Player combat.Start to work on the inventoryStart to work on the AccessLevel (Implement some type of authorization level)Client Side (Didn't change):Refactor the TCP and UDP Classes.Add some type of local database (SQLite) to save information like MapStruct, NpcStructRefactor the login/register system to be more secure.Draw Items in the mapCreated the Player/Npc combatDraw Player HUD (to open inventory, see status etc…)Thank you for reading again, I'll be even more thankful if you could give me some advice to accomplish that journey. Thanks again,Zotesso0 Kommentare 0 Anteile 35 Ansichten
