After announcing plans to acquire Vizio in February, Walmart officially owns the company after the $2.3 billion transaction closed on Tuesday. The retail giant says the acquisition will help bolster its advertising business, as Platform Plus the TV-makers advertising and data division accounts for all the companys [Vizio's] gross profit.All that data will be a boon for Walmarts growing advertising business, which has already started leveraging shopper information to target ads on Disney Plus and Hulu. The move will likely open up more opportunities for Walmart to sell more ads on Vizio TVs in stores, something it talked about expanding earlier this year, and maybe even stick ads on the Vizio TVs in peoples living rooms.The deal has raised concerns among privacy advocates, as Vizio has gotten in trouble over advertising and data tracking in the past. In 2017, it paid a $2.2 million fine to settle a Federal Trade Commission lawsuit that accused it of tracking viewers without their consent.An acquisition by Walmart could help Vizio compete with other budget-friendly TV brands that rely on advertising as a significant source of revenue. Roku, which started selling its own TVs last year, made $908.2 million in advertising sales and subscriptions in the third quarter of 2024, with an average revenue per user of $41.10, while Vizios last earnings report showed it was making about $37.17 per user.Theres also Amazons ad-friendly Fire TVs, Telly the company that promises free TVs in exchange for showing persistent advertisements, and an incoming platform from advertising firm The Trade Desk that Sonos will use.Despite the acquisition, Walmart and Vizio will continue operating independently for the foreseeable future. Vizio CEO William Wangwill also remain in his position.VIZIO has also expertly changed their business over time, like building and quickly scaling a profitable advertising business, Seth Dallaire, the executive vice president and chief growth officer of Walmart US, said in the announcement. Pairing it with Walmart Connect will be impactful and allow us to invest in our business even further on behalf of our customers.

In his Razer Blade 16 review, Mark Knapp wrote that "the Razer Blade 16 is as elegant as a Core i9 and RTX 4090 are likely to get in a laptop, but the high price and few shortcomings work against it." It's a good thing we have Cyber Monday to deal with that.Not All Laptop GPUs Are the SameThere are two important tidbits that deserve mention concerning graphics cards found in laptops. First, mobile GPU variants are not as powerful as their desktop counterparts. For example, a mobile RTX 4060 doesn't perform as well as a desktop RTX 4060. The mobile versions are generally about one to two tiers lower in performance. Using the same example, the mobile RTX 4060 performs more similarly to a desktop RTX 4050.Second, not all laptops feature the same performance out of the same GPU. Two laptops equipped with the same RTX 4060 GPU, for example, might perform very different in gaming. In order to roughly tell how good a GPU will be, you can look at the TGP rating. That's basically the amount of power supplied to the GPU. A higher TGP rating means more power will be delivered, equating to stronger performance, however the wattage consumption and heat generated will be higher. Running for 10 seasons, Smallville paved the way for Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Batwoman, Legends of Tomorrow, and every other show connected by crossovers and multiverses for the last decade-plus. Say what you want about the quality of these series, but they were leagues ahead of the MCU when it comes to representation at least. Across all of these stories we had queer heroes, trans heroes, heroes of color, women heroes in leadership roles, and heroes from varying socioeconomic backgrounds. The Arrowverse made it clear that you dont have to have superpowers or fancy gadgets to be a hero, you just have to have enough heart.Superman & Lois may not have been part of the Arrowverse proper, but it still carried on this legacy in its final episode, even without any surprise cameos (aside from our canine friend Krypto). After Doomsday and Lex Luthor (Michael Cudlitz) are defeated by the power of family, friendship, and teamwork, the series focuses on what Lois and Clarks lives are like up until their final days. For the first time ever in live-action, we get to see Supermans story come to a real end, and its as heartfelt as you would expect from this series.During San Diego Comic-Con 2024, series showrunners Todd Helbing and Brent Fletcher told Den of Geek that their version of The Death of Superman was going to be different than we might expect, and boy did they deliver. They told the anticipated story from the comic arc Superman dies at the hands of Doomsday and comes back to life. But this is also a mislead, in a way, because the true, final death of Superman doesnt come until the series finale.In an interview with Deadline, Fletcher spoke about how important it was to be able to show a Superman not just with a happy ending, but with a life well-lived. What are the auspices of a life well-lived? he said. Its hope, joy, family, and good all these things that he is. It was a hard thing to compact, but we felt that that montage could give a little window into that and give a little inspiration. Were all mortal, and maybe theres a beauty to our mortality that even Superman faces. So we thought it was kind of a neat thing. It was something that we were excited about, and so we followed that muse.We see Lois and Clark die as heroes, but not in the traditional sense. This article contains spoilers for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew episode 1.Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is a loving nod to the adventure movies of the 1980s, feeling right at home in the era that Star Wars really started to hit its stride. But it turns out that the nostalgia for this time goes beyond the look and feel of the series or the callbacks you might expect. Series creators Jon Watts and Christopher Ford not only paid homage to A New Hope through the shows opening sequence, but they also hid an Easter egg from the infamous 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special.The Star Wars Holiday Special was broadcast once on CBS on November 17, 1978 only to never see the light of day again after that, unless you were fortunate enough to record the special on VHS or have managed to stumble across a bootleg copy on YouTube. Despite featuring the original cast from A New Hope, the Holiday Special is viewed as corny and embarrassing by many (including George Lucas) and generally isnt considered to be canon. Skeleton Crew, however, may have just changed that.The primary premise of the Star Wars Holiday Special, if one can be pinned down, is that Chewbacca and Han Solo are going back to Kashyyyk to celebrate the holiday Life Day with Chewbaccas family. Once Chewie and Han get there, theres a scene where Chewies son Lumpy is watching a hologram of some kind of space circus performance. If you look closely in episode 1 of Skeleton Crew, youll see that Neels family is watching the same hologramor at least one incredibly similar.According to Watts in an interview with EW, production wasnt able to use the original footage from the Holiday Special as the resolution and quality was too low because it was a TV special. Ford also added that the footage as-is was limiting because we would have to have used the same angle [for filming]. We needed to shoot it from multiple angles.In order to recreate this scene-within-a-scene, the pair went deep into the archives of Lucasfilm, digging out all of the original wardrobe designs and sketches from the show. Our stunt coordinator also happened to be a former Cirque du Soleil performer, Watts said, so he plays the main dancing guy, and he choreographed a whole new routine based on what is in the Holiday Special.The series composer also had to recreate and re-record the music from scratch, as there was no record of it anywhere other than in videos posted to YouTube, and no one knew what instruments were used for the original. Watts admits that a lot of time and effort was put into creating one little visual gag, but to him it was worth it. It makes me really happy, he told EW, and it makes me wonder what that circus troop is up to.Even though this might not be the exact circus hologram that Lumpy was watching in the Holiday Special, its proof that this space circus troupe does or did exist somewhere in the galaxy. What additional secrets could this castle contain?Town SquareThe central hub of the fortified village sitting below the main castle parapets, this squarewhich appears to have suffered damage centered around a vehicle fireis dominated by a fountain with a large and imposing stone statue. To the southeast is an impressive example of a medieval bell tower, and a portcullis gate on opposing walls offer two ways to explore further. Directly across is access to the Tavern.Tavern and CellarFrom casks of ale to expensive bottles of rouge and blanc wines, Le Maison de Macon (Masons House) used to offer a tranquil and authentic pub experience. Inside, the L-shaped ground floor features a banquet table, impressively large wooden bar, plenty of booth and table seating, and a mezzanine games room with a pool table. The restrooms are most definitely out of order.Village Ascent and Upper VillageShafts of sunlight are beginning to pierce the fog-filled alleyways of the village, casting light on the vile aftermath of a zombie incursion. Blood seeps into the cobblestone streets, and the main path ascends from the lower gate to a small forecourt and well (it may be pointless wishing for good luck).Nature Path and HilltopOpen the western gate, and an alternate path to the ramparts can be ascended, though theres nothing natural about the inhabitants encroaching on this farmyard trail. Pass the ruins of a tower, and a stone barn and stables, the animals long-since bolted. Climb past the tiered stone buttress walls to the Hilltop, offering once-idyllic, now horrific views of the castle, surrounding fields, and encroaching shamblers.Citadelle Courtyard, Village, and Hillside RampartsIvy snakes around the grand entrance edifices, and the interior of the keep seems firmly sealed. Explore either of the ramparts before venturing onto the outer battlements of the castle. Its here youll discover an ornate and fearsome cannon, sculpted into the head of a roaring lion.Entrance HallEntering the citadel, an imposing, cathedral-like entrance vestibule beckons, once resplendent with tapestries and torches, now only crumbling walls and graffiti-daubed alcoves remain. A central stone staircase leads to a carved dragon bust, under what was once the castles coat of arms. Both petroleum lamps and construction floodlights bathe the hall in an eerie glow and hint at the horrors ahead.Sitting RoomsAnother impressively sized room within the citadel, the interior walls are seemingly unstable and held together by scaffold poles and luck. Past the perimeter torches, the chamber shows evidence of recent activity with bunk beds and desks sitting next to an ancient wood-carved fireplace.Dining HallIdeally any feasting going on in this derelict chamber wont feature your own entrails as the main course, though there are many nooks, balconies, and entrances to be caught unawares during an undead ambush. The Main Hall remains an imposing chamber to explore, despite the complete collapse of its ceiling likely caused by the unexploded WW2 bomb that now protrudes from the pile of rubble at its center.DungeonIn the deepest, darkest levels of this fortress is a place of torture, and the surgical blades, thick chains, car batteries, lump hammers, and chairs with restraint harnesses suggest this despicable practice has continued into modern times. The French Syndicate have a rudimentary communications set up here along with generators and a basic bookkeeping desk. Perhaps theyre logging the prisoners kept in the filthy jail cells that span the outer walls of this disturbing place.Undercroft and Oubliette RoomA vaulted ceiling in the subterranean cellars of the castle is leaking what you hope is just rainwater, partially flooding the lowest levels of the place, and this crypt is perhaps a location one doesnt linger at for long. Old paintings, strange statuary, stacked gravestones, and an impromptu game of chess, now fully concluded if the state of the players is anything to go by.Deeper still within the Dungeon lie secrets better left forgotten. A lower dungeonor Oublietteprovides damp and damning discoveries, and the earthen-floored chamber contains shelves of chemicals, barrels of hazardous materials, and a table where illicit drug manufacturing appears to be under way.Roughly translated as double horror from the original German and old English respectively, these tormented ghouls are pale imitations of something that looks human but most certainly isnt, not least because the entity sports two screaming skulls, rotting flesh stretched across each of them, seared into a sinewy and pockmarked torso of pallid gray skin, tendrils and protruding entrails.Serving as the next stage in the evolutionary chain of Dark Aether metamorphosis, Doppelghasts are violent and display erratic and unsettling movement, as if each head is independently fighting for control of its body. It lurches, randomly knots itself up to perform fast and unexpected maneuvers and tends to outrun its lesser brethren using its powerful, elongated feet.Though hunched and twisted, Doppelghasts are still one-and-a-half times as tall as most humans. They prefer to launch from the shadows or emerge from a horde of lesser undead. It is wise not to underestimate the creatures abilities when cornered. Aside from rapid melee strikes, where it lashes out with its many tendrils and appendages, it can burst forth an array of sharp, bloody needles to disrupt incoming attacks. If they pierce flesh, the needles cause not only lacerating damage but attack the targets nervous system, leading to hallucinations.Should a weak point be discovered and a Doppelghast finally succumbs, you may want to stand back as the final explosion of blood and gore is as revolting as it is spectacular.Other Entities of the CitadelleThe packs of lesser undead roaming the environment are mainly comprised of local townsfolk, farmers, and laborers, now in various stages of decomposition, with tougher enemies occasionally sporting French Syndicate insignia on their blood-soaked attire.Additional entities observed within the vicinity of the castle include scuttling Vermin, airborne Parasites, and grotesque appendage-flailing behemoths known as Amalgams.While its exact nature is shrouded in mystery, it appears that four powerful elemental weapons may be forged from a claymore known as The Bastard Sword, through unknown means.The Bastard Sword itself is a formidable melee weapon, splitting the filth-filled undead into cleaved chunks with a devastating slash, along with a defensive parry, particularly useful when blocking incoming projectiles. However, this claymore can be transformed into one of four elemental Wonder Weapons, each with a unique and devastating special attack, as well as a passive effect that is powered up over time:Caliburn: Dragons FireCreate a fiery maelstrom of burning undead flesh, setting zombies alight and summoning an immense fireball.Durendal: Stag of the StormsSummon thunderous power from the skies, discharging voltaic power to stun and stagger, before an electrical beam serves up a severe searing.Balmung: Ravens ShadowCast your rotting foes into the Aetherial abyss, warping nearby enemies with a focused liminal tear.Solais: Lion of LightThe warmth of Light courses through you as you send foes screaming into darkness.Main Quest Active and Quest Rewards: The Main Quest for Citadelle des Morts will be live at the same time as the map launches, on December 5.
