Nvidia Reveals Next-Gen Laptop Graphics at CES 2025
At CES 2025, Nvidia has just revealed the GPUs behind the next generation of gaming laptops. The RTX 5000 mobile series is here, led, of course, by the GeForce RTX 5090.Unlike its desktop lineup, Nvidia has revealed a full stack of mobile graphics cards, bookended by the RTX 5060 on the low-end and the RTX 5090 on the high-end. However, keep in mind that these mobile GPUs will be much less powerful than their desktop counterparts. These new mobile GPUs are powering a wide swath of next-generation gaming laptops, also revealed at CES, from the likes of HP, MSI, Alienware and Asus. Nvidia is claiming that these new gaming laptops are significantly faster than laptops sporting last-generation parts, which is something I'll have to test once I get these devices in the lab. If you want to get your hands on a gaming laptop with an RTX 5090, however, you should start to see them on store shelves in March. Developing...The Age of 4K Gaming Laptops? While 4K gaming laptops have been a thing for a while, mobile-class graphics chips are usually a little too weak to handle the most demanding games at that resolution. While 4K performance on gaming laptops has certainly improved over the last couple of generations, there are still times where I try to boot up Cyberpunk 2077 with path tracing on an RTX 4090 laptop, only to remember that it's a bit too ambitious. With the RTX 5000 series, particularly the 5090, it looks like gaming laptops sporting 4K displays which is becoming more common on high-end devices will be much better equipped to play pretty much any game at native resolution. Either way, I won't know exactly how these new GPUs will perform at 4K or any resolution until I'm able to benchmark it. Luckily, I won't have to wait long to see what the next generation of gaming laptops will look like. Developing...

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 Is Finally Here at CES 2025
After months of waiting, Nvidia has finally announced its new line of graphics cards, led by the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 at CES 2025. And while there are only a couple graphics cards at the Las Vegas tech show, the rest of the lineup should filter out over the next few months. The star of the show is obviously the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090, succeeding the massively powerful RTX 4090. And even if you can't fork over the cash for the RTX 5090, you can grab the RTX 5070, which allegedly provides RTX 4090 performance for $549.The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 will come out January 30, for $1,999. The RTX 5090 will be accompanied by the RTX 5080 for $999, the RTX 5070 Ti for $749 adn the RTX 5070 for $549. Developing...Kept Us Waiting, Huh?While we all kind of knew a new graphics card is on the way, the RTX 4000 series graphics cards had one of the longest runs in a while. Usually, new graphics cards come out on a roughly 2-year cycle, coming out every other fall. However, Nvidia totally missed that mark as did AMD and delivered its cards about four months later than I would expect. Nvidia RTX 5000 Blackwell ImagesLikely a big part of that wait came down to the competition or lack thereof. Right up until Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang took the stage at CES, the RTX 4090 reigned as the most powerful dekstop graphics card on the market, with nothing from AMD or Intel even coming close. Perhaps that's why it remained a $2,000 graphics card through its entire lifespan. Of course, with the RTX 5090 getting even more expensive, it seems like Nvidia is betting that this generation is going to follow the same shape as the last, with this flagship card having a wide lead on anything else on the market. Unfortunately, that also means more expensive graphics cards all around. It's possible that we'll see Nvidia launch an affordable 50-series graphics card over the next year or so, likely with the RTX 5060, but keep in mind that the RTX 4060 came out in June 2023 a whopping 8 months after the RTX 4090 hit the market in October 2022. Either way, with games like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle adopting high-end tech like full ray tracing, a graphics card like the RTX 5090 is going to go a long way to making sure your gaming PC is up to snuff for years to come or at least until the next Nvidia graphics cards come out. The Last of Us Season 2 Trailer Teases an April 2025 Return for the HBO Series
Alongside a new trailer featuring Kaitlyn Dever's Abby, HBO has confirmed The Last of Us Season 2 will officially arrive in April 2025.While we don't have an exact date, this reveal narrows the window and gives us an idea of when we will see the events of 2020's The Last of Us Part II unfold on Max.This new trailer puts a big focus on Dever's Abby, as we see her walking through the hospital that was featured in Season 1 and in the first game. We also hear her voice as she shares some words as other footage from Season 2 flashes by."It doesn't matter if you have a code like me," Abby says. "There are just some things everyone agrees are just... wrong."We won't spoil what any of these words mean, but its a very dark and ominous trailer that clearly hints at some major drama headed our way in these seven new episodes. The official Season 2 logline does this as well."Five years after the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie are drawn into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind," the logline reads.PlayThe Last of Us Season 2 will only tell part of the story of Naughty Dog's second game in this post-apocalyptic franchise, and showrunner Craig Mazin teased that "the story may require Season 4." RayNeo's Newest AR Glasses Shrink Down Into Smaller Sizes
Smart glasses are all trying to get smarter. In an ongoing quest to find ways on our faces, companies are pitching ever-more-normal-looking glasses promising AI onboard that can interact with our lives using built-in cameras. Meta's already laid out a path to that future with current Meta Ray-Bans and future dreams of Meta Orion full AR glasses, while Google and Samsung have plans for AR glasses using Android XR. RayNeo, another AR glasses company, has a pair of compact AR glasses announced at this year's CES show in Las Vegas and coming this year that aim for the same zone. The RayNeo X3 Pro is an update to a line of AR glasses I've tried before, but they've gotten a lot smaller this time around. The 3-ounce glasses look pretty everyday normal from RayNeo's photos, yet they have built-in dual Micro LED displays that are projected onto the transparent lenses via wave guides. RayNeo's previous glasses had a VR chip to power its AR/AI features, the same chip that was on the Quest 2. This time, the glasses use Qualcomm's AR 1 Gen 1 chipset that's focused on shrinking glasses' size and optimizing for AI. They still have dual cameras, room tracking and even hand tracking. The X3 Pro is coming later in 2025, at a still-unknown price. RayNeoThe previous RayNeo X2 glasses were bulky, had limited battery life and were heavier (4.3 ounces compared with 3 ounces on the X3 Pro). According to reviewers, they also had a very narrow field of view, limiting the bright displays to a tiny floating window. Will the X3 Pros be better and more reliable? CNET will hopefully get to demo them soon, so we'll know more. These glasses also don't seem to be part of Google's upcoming AR- and AI-focused Android XR right now, although at some point it would make sense for them to be. The RayNeo Air X3 display glasses are similar to ones made by Xreal and others, with promised audio and video improvements. RayNeoRayNeo's other new glasses follow familiar forms: the X3 Air are display glasses, similar to what's available from Xreal and others. RayNeo promises a 200,000:1 contrast ratio, a 201-inch equivalent virtual display and better audio, but they don't seem to be able to auto-anchor displays like the new Xreal One glasses can and there are no specifics on field of view or display type. The V3, meanwhile, are camera-equipped glasses with audio, similar to Meta's Ray-Bans. All of these glasses look like they're arriving toward the second half of this year, but again, with no prices available yet. What stands out to me, though, is how much smaller the X3 Pro glasses are. AR glasses approaching the type of stuff Meta's promising are starting to arrive, although RayNeo's field of view is undoubtedly far smallerand its software services are still a relative unknown.

CES 2025: Anker Solix's New Electric Cooler, Solar Umbrella and Portable Chargers Keep the Fun Going Outdoors
Summer fun may not be on your mind right now in the depths of winter, but that hasn't stopped Anker and its Solix brand from showcasing a variety of new outdoor products that it's calling "portable essentials." The lineup, unveiled atCES 2025, includes a battery-powered electric cooler, a solar umbrella and a variety of chargers and portable power banks, along with a tantalizing hint about the Anker E15 robot lawnmower.Anker Solix EverFrost 2 Electric Cooler Upgrade your inbox Get cnet insider From talking fridges to iPhones, our experts are here to help make the world a little less complicated. Keeping food and drinks cool on the go is a challenge in the summer, even if you have a portable cooler because ice melts over time. The Anker Solix EverFrost 2, the successor to Anker's first EverFrost, aims to solve this, because it's not just a cooler, but an electric cooler that works with a detachable 288Wh LFP battery to provide air cooled refrigeration on the go. With the included battery, you get up to 52 hours of cooling time with the option of adding a second battery to get 104 hours of runtime. The cooler comes with 6-inch wheels and a handle that doubles as a tray. AnkerThe cooler maintains temperatures between -4 degrees Fahrenheit to 68 degrees Fahrenheit, and according to Anker, it cools 30% faster than regular non-electric portable coolers when fully loaded. When not being used by the cooler, the battery can double as a power bank with 60W USB-C charging and 12W USB-A charging ports. You can recharge with various options, including a 100W solar umbrella (more on that below), AC, car socket and USB-C.The design is also portable with 6-inch wheels, a fold-down tray that doubles as a handle and an IPX3 waterproof rating. It's available in three sizes: a 23L, 40L and a larger 58L version. The 58L version notably features two separate compartments, letting you freeze and cool different items at the same time or separate food and drinks. Recharging options include solar, AC, car socket and USB-C. AnkerUniquely, the cooler can also be monitored remotely with the Anker app, allowing you to adjust settings and monitor temperature. Pre-orders of the 40L and 58L will begin Feb. 21 through Anker.com, with retail availability starting March 7. The 23L model is expected to launch later in the second quarter of 2025.Anker Solix Solar UmbrellaThe Solix solar-powered umbrella is designed to pair with the EverFrost 2 cooler, but it'll also work with various Solix portable power stations, including the C300 DC, C800 Plus and C1000.The solar umbrella is foldable and portable, with "Perovskite solar cells," which gives it 30% better solar power generation in bright light and doubles efficiency in low light conditions. The umbrella supports a 100W output through the XT-60 and USB-C ports. The solar umbrella will be available in the summer of 2025. Recharging options include solar, AC, car socket and USB-C. AnkerAnker 140W ChargerPortable chargers aren't quite as exciting as some of the other products in Anker's lineup, but Anker's new 140W charger stands out because it's the first to feature a digital display. That's a feature we commonly find in portable power banks like the Anker 737 and power stations. The digital display provides real-time temperature monitoring and shows the total power output for each port to make tracking the charging status of various devices easier. The charger has 3 USB-C ports and 1 USB-A port. It also has vertical-facing ports, making cables less likely to slip out. The 140W charger is now available directly from Anker and Amazon for $89.99. The new Anker charger is the first with a digital display. AnkerAnker 25K Power BankFor those who need to charge on the go, Anker has you covered with the Anker 25K power bank. As the name suggests, it has a 25,000mAh capacity and can output 165W to charge multiple devices simultaneously. It has three USB-C ports and one USB-A port and a pair of built-in retractable USB-C cables that are 11.8 inches and 27.2 inches, respectively. The power bank comes with two differently sized retractable USB-C charging cables. AnkerIt supports PD 3.0, letting you charge a 13-inch MacBook Air (M3) 1.3 times, an iPhone 16 up to 4.5 times and a MacBook Pro 16-inch (M3) to 50% in 33 minutes. There's a TFT color display that provides data, including total output power, individual power output for each port, temperature of the power bank and estimated recharging time. The Anker 25K power bank is available now for $99.99 through Anker and Amazon. The Anker E15 lawnmower broke cover at CES 2025. AnkerEufy Robot Lawn Mower E15Unfortunately, Anker was fairly tight-lipped in its CES 2025 press release about the E15 lawnmower. All we know about it so far is that it uses Eufy V-FSD and supports "next-gen intelligent hands-free lawn maintenance," which suggests AI to us.

Eufy's Cutting-Edge CES Vacuum Is a Robot, Handheld and Stick Vac -- All at Once
While robot vacuums have long been able to vacuum and mop by switching modes, we've never seen anything like what Eufy has brought to CES 2025. The Eufy E20 isn't just a robot vac -- it's a three-in-one vacuum cleaner that can take on completely different roles in your home depending on what you're cleaning. The E20 module, winner of a CES 2025 Best of Innovation award, starts as a combo charging station. Attached is a robot vacuum that can reach 8,000Pa in suction power and uses Eufy's iPath system with laser detection to notice objects as small as 15 millimeters and track a course around the room. That's high suction compared to many robot vacuum models (except for some of the highest-end Roborocks), and Eufy credits its "five-level" suction system that helps prevent clogs to maintain suction as the vacuum continues to work. Eufy promises speedy charging modes and powerful suction for its E20 all-in-one. EufyThe E20 a fast charger too, able to fully charge a drained battery in 2.5 hours, which Eufy claims is 40% faster than competing robot vacuums. Eufy reports the E20's battery life is rated at 180 minutes. The bot will return to automatically empty debris into the station (Eufy states the 350mL/12oz bin is large enough to last for 75 days without needing to be emptied, although that sounds awfully optimistic to us). However, if you want to do spot cleaning or tackle a larger cleaning job, you can break out the E20's lightweight, cordless stick vac mode, which greatly boosts the suction power to 30,000Pa. That allows you to clean sudden messes, deeper-down dirt/hair and spots that a robot vac just can't reach, like your stairs. But there's a third mode, too: The E20 can also turn into a handheld vacuum with the same suction power as the stick vac. That allows you to spot clean furniture, drapes, pet beds, crumb-covered counters and similar areas. Pack it back into the charging stations when you're done and the bot can take over floor duties.Read more: Your Next Vacuum Should Be Cordless Switch to cordless E20 modes for spot cleaning while letting the robot handle the rest. EufyAnother interesting point for the Eufy E20: You don't have to wait long to get one. Presales are open as of January 6th, 2025, including a 100-day free return window if you don't like it, and the E20 will launch fully on February 10th, priced at $549.99.Most robot vac users have to keep a separate vacuum around for tougher jobs anyway, so combining all necessary vacs you need into one module makes a lot of sense. If those suction and battery numbers prove accurate in real-world testing, Eufy may have a top all-home cleaning kit for buyers who want a full replacement.Take a look at our other discoveries and top picks from CES 2025 here.

Nvidias Project Digits is a personal AI supercomputer
At CES 2025 in Las Vegas, Nvidia unveiled Project Digits, a personal AI supercomputer that provides access to the companys Grace Blackwell hardware platform in a compact form factor.[Project Digits] runs the entire Nvidia AI stack all of Nvidia software runs on this, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said onstage during a press conference on Monday. Its a cloud computing platform that sits on your desk Its even a workstation, if you like it to be.Designed for AI researchers, data scientists, and students, Project Digits packs Nvidias new GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip, which delivers up to a petaflop of computing performance for prototyping, fine-tuning, and running AI models. Nvidia claims a single Project Digits unit can run models up to 200 billion parameters in size. Parameters roughly correspond to a models problem-solving skills, and models with more parameters generally perform better than those with fewer parameters. The GB10, which was developed in partnership with MediaTek, features an Nvidia Blackwell GPU connected to a 20-core Nvidia Grace CPU. Inside the Project Digits enclosure, the chips are hooked up to a 128GB pool of memory and up to 4TB of flash storage.Image Credits:NvidiaNvidia says that two Project Digits machines can be linked together to run up to 405-billion-parameter models, if a job calls for it. Project Digits can deliver a standalone experience, as alluded to earlier, or connect to a primary Windows or Mac PC.But its not cheap. Project Digits machines, which run Nvidias Linux-based DGX OS, will be available starting in May from top partners for $3,000, the company said. So it wont be just anyone who can afford a Project Digits unit of their own. Huang thinks that theres a market, however. With Project Digits, the Grace Blackwell Superchip comes to millions of developers, he said in a statement. Placing an AI supercomputer on the desks of every data scientist, AI researcher and student empowers them to engage and shape the age of AI.
