Hot Tub, a porn search engine, is the first native porn app that can be installed on iOS devices through legitimate means, per TechCrunch, thanks to the recent enforcement of the EU Digital Markets Act that requires Apple to support third-party app stores. Hot Tub, which is available through the alternative app store AltStore PAL, allows users to search and watch content across a number of popular porn sites including PornHub, XVideos, XNXX, and XHamster. The app is billed as Porn Without the Pop-Ups, as the app prevents the slew of shady advertisements that youll get served visiting these sites on a browser. It also saves you the hassle of having to open an Incognito tab for your searchthough lets be real, if youre downloading a dedicated porn app, youre not really all that worried about discretion. Alternative app stores have been allowed on devices in the European Union since last year, but Hot Tub is still the first porn app to get all the way to market. Thats in part because Apple continues to maintain a Notarization process designed to ensure apps meet baseline platform integrity standards. The app, which was developed by developer and iPhone jailbreaker c1d3r, successfully went through the Notarization process and was approved for use on iOS. Third-party app stores are still a very new phenomenon for the average user (though people who are involved in the jailbreak community have been sideloading apps for years), and it still comes with a fair amount of hurdles and risks. But there is some evidence to suggest that folks are interested in breaking out of Apples walled garden approach to apps. A survey by MacPaw (which operates its own alternative app store, so keep that in mind) found that 80% of users expressed interest in trying a third-party app store. Also, maybe surprisingly, lots of people watch porn on their phones. Reportedly, 69% of porn viewership happens on smartphones, and an estimated 20% of all searches from mobile devices are porn related. So obviously theres a market for Hot Tubs services. Surprise! I bet you didnt have Apple launching a revamped calendar app on your Monday morning bingo card, but here we are. Over the weekend, Bloombergs Power On newsletter hinted about an upcoming new calendar app from Apple for iOS 18. Confetti or Invites (no one knows what its called) is an iCloud-based calendar app that could launch this week. Apple has been seeking to revamp its calendar app for years, and this is merely the first stage of change. As Bloomberg describes, the festive-sounding codename Confetti could be Apples way of gussying up a typically stuffy and regimented calendar app. We dont know what Apple will call this app. If you look up information about whats to come, the app is called Invites. Like Evite, Partiful, and the ever-enduring Facebook, the app will focus on sending and receiving invitations and managing those guestlists. Theres speculation that Genmoji would play a role in all this as a way for you to customize the Invites you send out with a signature bit of Apple flair. Whether this would be a separate app or a feature within the stock iOS Calendar app is unconfirmed. This rumor has been percolating for a while. 9to5Mac was among the first to report on it after browsing iOS 18.3s beta code. The blogs code sleuths also found a web version of the invitations, which suggests that this is a way for Apple users to replace all the other third-party invite services out there with something more well-integrated and almost proprietary. Its unclear how this would work with non-Apple-using users. I imagine you wont be able to make the Apple-styled invitation without an iOS device or Mac. Invites would likely feed into Apple Intelligencesince thats the name of the game lately for all in consumer technology. The app would pull data from an iOS daemona process that runs constantly in the backgroundcalled GroupKit. GroupKit manages database models for groups of people based on your contacts. Apple Intelligence could be the brain that manages those lists for you and suggests them when the timing is right based on the type of event youre hosting and who youre inviting. Other tidbits to know are that its likely to be ad- and tracker-free, making it a better choice than Facebook and all those others and helping Apple hone in on that privacy narrative its been polishing all these days. There might also be Apple Photos integration for the ease of collecting pictures after the event and multiple calendar integration.The advent of Confetti, or Invites, or whatever it will be called, will likely coincide with another iOS 18.3 push. The software started rolling out to iPhones and iPads last month, and according to 9to5Mac, were just waiting for Apple to activate it.

The recent autopsy of a partially devoured great white shark confirms a brutal hunting trendkiller whales around the world are not afraid to attack the fearsome fish, especially when they get a taste for liver.Great white sharks are apex predators, but that doesnt mean theyre invincible. In October 2023, the remains of a Carcharodon carcharias washed ashore in southeastern Australia showing clear evidence of having been attacked by an unknown species. The carcass featured four distinct bite wounds around its underside, and notably lacked its liver, digestive, and reproductive organs. Researchers identified their suspect almost immediately, but hesitated to offer a definitive answer before conducting a postmortem investigation.According to their results recently published in the journal Ecology and Evolution, the culprit is clear: a killer whale fatally assaulted the over-15-foot-long shark, then proceeded to devour its innards. While it most likely zeroed-in on the nutrient-rich liver, multiple scavengers also got in on the meal.Swabs were taken from bite wounds on the white shark and sequenced for remnant genetic material from the sharks predator, Isabella Reeves, study lead author and a PhD candidate at Flinders Universitys Southern Shark Ecology Group and the West Australian Cetacean Research Center (CETREC), said in an accompanying statement. We were able to confirm the presence of killer whale DNA in the primary bite area, while the other three wounds revealed DNA from scavenging broadnose sevengill sharks.The wildlife forensic analysis supported eyewitness statements from 2023. Two days before the great white washed ashore, multiple local beachgoers reported seeing killer whales (including local legends Bent Tip and Ripple) hunting down an unknown large prey target in Australias Bridgewater Bay. But this isnt the first time researchers have documented killer whales attacking great white sharks.According to Reevers and her colleagues, similar situations of cetaceans specifically targeting the liver were previously seen off the coasts of South Africa and California. While experts theorized similar feeding patterns may also occur around Australia, they lacked direct evidence until the postmortem.These findings provide compelling evidence of killer whale predation on white sharks in Australian waters, with a strong indication of selective liver consumption, said Reeves. This suggests that such predation events may be more widespread and prevalent across the globe than previously believed.For the moment, however, it remains unclear just how much these hunting parties may affect Australias oceanic ecosystem.We dont know how frequently these events occurred in Australian waters and therefore how significant these findings are, added Adam Miller, a study senior author and ecologist at Cesar Australia.Given the effects in South Africa and California, its possible such attacks have substantial ripple effects. Miller explained that current evidence suggests fewer great white sharks (regardless of being either chased away or eaten) has led to cascading shifts in the wider marine ecosystem.We know that white sharks are key regulators of ecosystem structure and functions, so its very important we preserve these top predators, he added. In 2014, Sony showed off the first look at Wild, an ambitious open-world PlayStation-exclusive game from the creator of Rayman, Michel Ancel. Wild remained in development until it was canceled in 2021, almost a year after Ancel retired from the video game industry. Now, former Sony executive Shuhei Yoshida has shared his thoughts about why Wild was canceled."There [were] lots of great ideas [that] didn't really materialize into the actual game structure," explained Yoshida during an interview with MinnMax. "It was very open kind of thinking... one of the earliest [pitches] was the map size of the game was the size of Europe."As envisioned by Ancel, Wild would have taken place during prehistoric times as players stepped into a the role of a human whose shaman-like powers gave them the ability to influence or control animals. Smaller animals could be used to spy on other tribes, while larger animals could actually be possessed by the player to guide them to accomplish a specific goal or objective.
