Anthropic Economic Index 10 AI Workplace Trends Business Leaders Must Know
Workplace pixabayFor all the buzz about artificial intelligence reshaping work, concrete data on how its happening has been scarce. That is starting to change. Anthropic, the AI company behind the Claude assistant, has introduced the Anthropic Economic Index, an initiative to rigorously track AIs impact on jobs and tasks over time.Released this week, the index offers data-driven insight into how businesses and professionals incorporate AI into their daily work. It is based on millions of actual AI interactions instead of hypothetical surveys. The goal is straightforward: Provide executives with an empirical baseline for strategic decisions regarding AI, cutting through the hype with actual data on where AI is making an impact. Here are 10 key takeaways from the Anthropic Economic Index report:1. AI Augmentation Dominates Over AutomationThe index reveals that 57% of AI usage is for augmentation (AI assisting humans with tasks), compared to 43% for automation (AI handling tasks with minimal human input). This suggests that AI primarily enhances human capabilities rather than replacing jobs.Impact: Businesses should focus on integrating AI as a collaborative tool to boost employee productivity rather than viewing it solely as a means to reduce headcount.2. Widespread AI Adoption Across OccupationsMORE FOR YOUAI isnt broadly replacing jobs wholesale instead, its augmenting specific tasks across a wide range of roles. Roughly 36% of occupations in the analysis used AI for at least a quarter of their tasks, whereas only about 4% saw AI used in most tasks.Impact: AI adoption is becoming mainstream across industries. Companies that lag in AI integration may find themselves at a competitive disadvantage.3. Concentration in Software Development and Technical WritingThe analysis shows particularly strong AI integration in software development and technical writing, where AI tools have become nearly ubiquitous. These sectors serve as valuable case studies for other industries, demonstrating both the potential and limitations of AI integration.Impact: Businesses in these sectors should prioritize AI integration to stay competitive. Other industries can learn from these early adopters to identify potential AI applications.4. Mid-to-High Wage Occupations See Higher AI UseInterestingly, the highest and lowest-paid positions show relatively limited AI adoption, indicating that highly specialized expertise and hands-on manual work remain primarily human domains. This pattern helps organizations understand where to focus their AI investment for maximum impact.Impact: Companies should focus on upskilling their mid-level workforce to effectively collaborate with AI tools, potentially leading to increased productivity and value creation.5. Limited AI Use in Lowest and Highest-Paid RolesHighly paid professionals like senior physicians or executives arent using AI as much, likely due to their works specialized, sensitive nature. At the same time, many lower-wage service and manual jobs have limited applicability to current AI tools.Impact: This suggests that very specialized or manual labor jobs may be less affected by AI in the short term. However, businesses should monitor AI advancements that could impact these roles.6. Computer and Mathematical Fields Lead AI AdoptionThe computer and mathematical fields have the maximum AI adoption, accounting for 37.5% of all AI interactions. This concentration in technical domains demonstrates AI's particular strength in enhancing logical and analytical tasks.Impact: Businesses in tech-related fields should prioritize AI integration to maintain a competitive edge. Other sectors can explore how to leverage AI for computational and analytical tasks.7. Arts and Media Sectors Show Significant AI UseAfter science, the second-biggest slice, around 10%, came from creative and media-related tasks think marketing content creation, editing, and design assistance. Business and financial operations, education, and administrative roles also showed healthy adoption in the mid-single digits of overall usage share.Impact: Creative industries should explore AI tools to enhance productivity and innovation while maintaining the unique human elements of their work.8. AI as a Collaborative PartnerThe index highlights AIs role as a collaborative partner in digital work environments. The data shows employees collaborating with AI to get work done more efficiently, whether by offloading tedious tasks or improving the quality of outputs.Impact: Business leaders should foster a culture that embraces AI as a tool for enhancing human capabilities rather than a threat to job security.9. Potential for Economic Growth and Productivity GainsThe most obvious trend from the report is that AI-facilitated work processes promise to heighten productivity and drive economic growth.Impact: Companies that effectively integrate AI could see significant improvements in efficiency and output, potentially leading to increased profitability and market share.10. Need for Continuous Learning and AdaptationThe index reveals that successful AI adoption requires substantial investment in workforce development, with the most significant returns coming from enabling skilled workers to leverage AI tools effectively rather than attempting to replace workers entirelyImpact: Businesses should invest in continuous learning programs to ensure thei workforce remains skilled in AI-human collaboration, potentially following the lead of major corporations like Apple and Google.Looking ForwardThe index strongly suggests that AIs role in the workplace will continue to evolve and expand. Organizations that view AI as a collaborative partner rather than a replacement technology will be best positioned to capture its benefits. Success will require ongoing investment in workforce training, careful attention to emerging AI capabilities, and a commitment to fostering a culture that embraces AI-human collaboration. The key to thriving in this new landscape lies not in wholesale automation but in thoughtful integration that enhances human capabilities while preserving the unique value that human workers bring to their roles. Organizations that master this balance will be best positioned to compete in an increasingly AI-enhanced business environment. Copy

Terry Crews says there were a lot of things he had to 'relearn' to fix his marriage
Terry Crews said he and his wife managed to rebuild their marriage. They have been married for 36 years but nearly split for good years ago due to his infidelity and porn addiction."It's work. It's really work. You have to get better at it, it's a skill," Crews said.Terry Crews and his wife, Rebecca King-Crews, know just how much effort goes into making a marriage work.In an interview with People, the actor spoke about how they overcame all the challenges they faced in their years together."Me and my wife have been married 36 years and, at year 20 though, it was over. And we totally rebuilt our relationship," Crews told People. "And we decided we were going to be stronger together. It was a decision that we decided to make."The couple got married in 1989, several years before Crews joined theNFL, and two decades before he made the transition to acting. They have five children together. The "White Chicks" star added that love isn't just about feelings."It's work. It's really work. You have to get better at it, it's a skill," Crews said. "There's a lot of things I had to relearn."He says he thinks of him and his wife as a "testament" to the fact that two people can make a relationship work as long as they are both willing to tough it out."It's wild because there was a point when, when I wanted to quit, she didn't want to, and then when she wanted to quit, I didn't want to," he said. "And I was just glad we didn't want to quit at the same time."This isn't the first time that Crews has spoken about the challenges he faced in his marriage.Crews shared how his past infidelity and porn addiction had affected his family during an episode of Dax Shepard's"Armchair Expert" podcast in 2023.Crews said he would "start an argument" with his wife whenever she tried to ask him questions about where he was when he was feeding his porn addiction at adult bookstores near truck stops. He would also "be angry" at his kids "for getting in the way."He also said he cheated on his wife by getting a handjob in a massage parlor while filming his first-ever movie in 2000, and "kept that secret for years."He eventually decided to confess to his wife about the cheatingporn addiction. Although she left him at that time, they eventually reconciled after Crews went to rehab.Crews and his wife aren't the only celebrities who have spoken about the steps they take to build and maintain a healthy relationship.Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey don't go more than two weeks without seeing each other and their family.Rob Lowe, who has been married to Sheryl Berkoff for over 30 years, said they go to couples therapy regularly because "it's like taking your car in and making sure the engine's running great."Barbara Grossman, a couples counselor, previously told Business Insider that her tips for a successful marriage include sharing emotional baggage, carving time out to be together, and actively communicating grievances."I encourage people to talk about their past because it usually reveals the historical reasons for their behavior, opinions, and attitudes," Grossman said. "If you open up about situations including unresolved feelings toward a family member, friend, or lover it develops understanding, trust, and connection."A representative for Crews did not immediately respond to a request for comment sent by Business Insider outside regular hours.

The Anime Industry Needs to Stop Trying to Make Rurouni Kenshin a Thing Again
Warning: The following story discusses criminal acts around the abuse of children that some readers may find distressing. As with Hollywood and video games, the anime industry is often guilty of carting out some of its older hit-making stories and remaking them for a new audience with mixed results. Weve seen this time and time again with shows like Dragon Ball Z Kai, Hunter x Hunter, and Ranma 1/2 leading the charge as streamlined remakes of their progenitors. While animes batting average with purposeful remakes tends to fare better than other media, the industrys worst pet project has been its repeated attempts to make the classic samurai series Rurouni Kenshin a thing once again. Rurouni Kenshin, written by mangaka Nubuhiro Watsuki, is a historical action shonen series that follows a wandering samurai named Kenshin Himura who turns over a new leaf from being the once-feared revolutionary killer to a peace-loving vagabond. Since releasing as a manga in 1994, the series spawned an anime series from studio Gallop and Deen, making it a formative anime/manga shonen combo alongside its contemporaries like Yu Yu Hakusho. This streak continued until the series conclusion in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1999 and its anime finale in 1998.While the merit of Rurouni Kenshins story remains one of animes most memorable tales, even spawning a five-movie live-action trilogy starring Netflix One Piece live-action star Mackenyu Arata, its authors baggage all but ruined the series reputation for fans in the U.S. In February 2018, Watsuki was fined 200,000 yen ($1,900) for possession of hundreds of child pornography DVDs. According to Anime News Network, possession of child porn in Japan can lead to a year of imprisonment, a one million yen fine, or both. At the time, publisher Shueisha reiterated that it took the charge seriously and placed Watsuki and his wife Kaoru Kurosakis sequel series, Rurouni Kenshin: Hokkaido Arc, on hiatus. Shueisha would resume the series four months later, with ANN writing that Shueisha and Watsuki decided to continue the manga to answer the desires of fans was a matter of duty. While the series resumed in Japan, with Watsuki stating hes living a life of reflection and atonement, Rurouni Kenshin: Hokkaido Arc would not receive new chapters in its English edition under Viz Media. That is until anime studio Liden Films announced it was making an anime adaption of the arc at Jump Festa 2022. Its now currently airing on Crunchyroll. These sorts of controversies unfortunately arent uncommon in the anime industry. Weve seen it in the past with folks like Toriko writer Mitsutoshi Shimabukukuro getting arrested and convicted of child prostitution in 2002 (his two-year sentence was suspended, freeing him of jail time); Act Age manga writer Tatsuya Matsuki getting an 18-month prison sentence for indecent behavior with a minor (which was also suspended for good behavior); and prolific voice actors like One Pieces Toru Furuya resigning last year following a scandal where he admitted to having an affair and physically abusing a fan. While there is undoubtedly room for argument over the age-old dilemma of separating the art from the artist and the statute of limitations on atonement, Rurouni Kenshins almost desperate prevalence in the anime industry following Watsukis wrist slap as a consequence of possessing child porn remains one of the anime industrys weirdest paradoxes. Overseas, most of the outcomes for the above boiled down to societal punishment for the crimes being punishment enough. However, Rurouni Kenshin, being the big shonen series success story it was, prevented it from being canceled like its contemporaries. This, in turn, has left seasoned anime viewers to advise newer fans not to support the series despite companies like Aniplex, Shuiesha, and Crunchyroll promoting with the acclaim and adulation of any other anime remake through social media campaigns and convention floor banners. This kind of muddles the whole societal shame aspect of punishment when a show gets this much of a push despite its creators controversy. The anime industry wouldve been better off if Rurouni Kenshin remained a thing of the past, rather than trying to force it back into relevancy. Want more io9 news? It marks the first stop on the "Event Route," a path we designed to introduce rhythm and narrative into the repetitive, mechanical journey of winding mountain ascents. Amid the grandeur of the mountain ranges, we sought to create pauses, like commas and semicolons in a piece of writing, to punctuate and enrich the experience.Save this picture!Save this picture!Raindrop Apparatus - Drawing inspiration from the raindrops formed between the tiles of traditional East architecture, we aimed to reform the spatial role of eaves. Originally external structures for sheltering from wind and rain, we inverted their function, bringing them into the interior space. Within the pavilion, transparent glass tiles are layered to form a stark contrast with the charred black timber exterior. Sunlight filters through the gaps at the top, casting textures across the tiles, weaving a poetic interplay of mountain, water, light, and shadow.Save this picture!Save this picture! On rainy days, water slides down the tiles into mirrored stainless-steel pools on either side, allowing every visitor to touch the falling raindrops, watch the ripples forming as the drops meet the water, and listen to the soothing sound of rain flowing from one pool to another. In this 4-square-meter pavilion, water becomes a bridge connecting the self and the surrounding environment. Reflections of lush mountains, waterfalls, and mist in the pools juxtapose reality and illusion, creating a moment of suspended time. Touching the water feels like touching a mirage, the intangible, the essence of Yandang Mountain itself, leaving visitors with a deeply personal memory of this place.Save this picture!Save this picture! The Geometrical Orders: Ritual, Body and Nature - The pavilion takes on a triangular form, with a circular mirrored stainless-steel roof embedded at the top. Suspended above the ground, its floor is lined with 40x100 cm rectangular grates arranged in layered patterns. Standing at the center of the pavilion and slowly looking upwards, visitors see the world mirrored in the side-pools, slowly moving to the light flickers on tiles, reaching to the top where crossed steel beams and the circular reflection of themselves, creating a dialogue between the cosmos and the self.Save this picture!Save this picture! In the vertical dimension, the rain pools on either side are placed at staggered heights, corresponding to two bodily gestures: sitting and standing. Complementing this, the side facades facing the mountains feature windows of varying proportions, reinterpreting the traditional East garden picturesque technique in a contemporary architectural context. The third facade offers two entrances: the main entrance is open, leading up a set of steps, while a secret entrance scaled for children invites them to duck and crawl in. This design also enhances visual penetration for extended stays.Save this picture!Save this picture! The stone step and pine tree at the entrance originated from the site. During construction, we intentionally positioned the entrance beside the towering pine tree, allowing its vertical elegance to resonate with the pavilion's upward posture, making the tree an integral part of the design.Save this picture!Save this picture!Project gallerySee allShow lessAbout this officeMaterialsWoodPlasticMaterials and TagsPublished on February 11, 2025Cite: "Drop-Stop Pavilion / aptdotapt" 11 Feb 2025. GTA 6 Exec Talks Approach To PC Releases, But Doesn't Confirm Anything
Grand Theft Auto VI is coming this year to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but it won't be on PC at launch, at least based on what Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two have said thus far. So why isn't GTA 6 coming to PC at launch? There is no clear answer, but Take-Two executive Strauss Zelnick has shed a little more light on the situation, saying Take-Two doesn't have a mandate for all of its games to "go across all platforms simultaneously."However, Zelnick admitted to IGN, "Historically, Rockstar has started with some platforms and then historically moved to other platforms." Reading between the lines here, it sure sounds like GTA 6 will come to PC at a later date, which would be in keeping with tradition for the company. Its last two big games, Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption II, launched on console first before coming to PC. Continue Reading at GameSpot

The Best Third-Party Games On The Nintendo Switch
Nintendo is known for its vast array of solid first-party games. The Nintendo Switch is also known for having a deep library of indies to take on the go. However, what isn't spotlighted as much as those two points is the amount of third-party support the Switch has gotten since its launch in 2017.
