• A Single Person Can Install This Foldable Tiny Home Within An Hour With No Tools
    www.yankodesign.com
Designed by Boxabl, this is the Baby Box. This new creation is designed to be compact and foldable. It is simple and super easy to construct, requiring only one person to set it up without any tools or help. And not to mention, it is also quite cheap. It is priced at an introductory rate of US$19,999, but it will increase by 10 grand later. The turnkey home occupies around 120 sq ft, and it can be delivered to you, or you can have it picked up from Boxabls warehouse in Las Vegas. It has everything you could need to set up your own micro home.Designer: BoxablThis compact tiny home is designed for versatility and mobility and is conveniently packed onto a trailer platform. Weighing in at 2,900 pounds (approximately 1,315 kilograms) with a hitch weight of 1,000 pounds (around 454 kilograms), it can be easily towed by most SUVs and trucks. Its dimensions further contribute to its mobility, as the trailer measures 6 feet 6 inches (approximately 1.98 meters) in width and 14 feet 9 inches (about 4.5 meters) in length. This compact size makes it even smaller than the average 714-foot cargo trailer, which allows for easier maneuvering and parking in various settings, from campgrounds to backyards. When unfolded, the Baby Box measures around 14 ft 9 in long, 14 ft 1 in wide, and 9 ft 3 high, making it twice as wide as travel mode. Boxabl says a single person can set up the home in an hour without any tools. It is also equipped with a 9,000-BTU ductless A/C with a heat pump for both warm and cold weather conditions. It comes equipped with two 12-volt deep cycle batteries, which power the lighting and water pump, creating a self-sufficient environment for off-grid adventures. It hosts 30-gallon (114-liter) tanks for black, gray, and freshwater, providing an ample supply for extended stays. The plumbing system utilizes standard water hose and sewer connections, akin to those in typical RV setups. The home also features a 6-gallon (23-liter) electric water heater, enabling the comforts of hot water whether youre parked at a campsite or on the open road. The living room also functions as the bedroom, which isnt great for families. The Baby Box is equipped with an in-house designed SLS sofa, which stands for Sit, Lounge, Sleep. This unfolds into a bed much like a jackknife sofa. You simply need to grab a loop at the touch of the couch and pull it towards you.A countertop induction stove and a small fridge have been placed in the kitchen. The bathroom features a marine-style toilet with a foot-operated flush, and the shower includes glass walls and a moon roof. It also contains a 12-volt vent fan. TheBaby Box also features smoke and CO2 detectors and a fire extinguisher. The post A Single Person Can Install This Foldable Tiny Home Within An Hour With No Tools first appeared on Yanko Design.

  • AppleCare+ for iPhone just got a little more expensive
    www.macworld.com
MacworldApple is making its AppleCare+ extended warranty plan a little more expensive for some users. For all current models in the United States, Apple is raising the monthly subscription price by 50 cents. That means the monthly cost of standard AppleCare+ for an iPhone 16 is now $8.49 instead of $7.99. The price increase applies to all current iPhone models and to both AppleCare+ and AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss.AppleCare+ provides repairs for up to 2 incidents of theft or loss coverage every 12 months for a deductible (Screen or back glassdamage, $29; other accidental damage, $99). Whats more, Apple seems to be encouraging consumers to pay this monthly fee more often. While you can still buy the standard full up-front 2 years of AppleCare+ coverage at the point of purchase if you buy online, the same is not true of retail purchases. As reported by Mark Gurman at Bloomberg, the company will no longer allow the up-front 2-year purchase option at retail or in the AppleCare menu option on the iPhone itself.Gurman says Apple Store employees have been instructed to tell customers the change is designed to lower upfront costs and prevent future gaps in coverage. Whats more, they are instructed to push the pricier Theft & Loss version of AppleCare+, which provides a replacement iPhone for $149 and costs as much as $13.99 a month depending on the iPhone model. Note that the price increase for AppleCare+ appears to only apply to iPhones, and not yet to other Apple products. The monthly cost of AppleCare+ for the Mac ranges from $6.49 to $17.99 a month, while the iPad costs between $3.49 and $8.49 depending on the model.

  • Next Battlefield Will Launch Before April 2026
    gamingbolt.com
EA has been throwing the weight of multiple studios at the next instalment in theBattlefieldfranchise for a few years now, and it seems like well be seeing the final result not long from now. At the companys recent quarterly fiscal call (via VGC), CEO Andrew Wilson suggested the same, confirming a release window for the first-person shooter.According to Wilson, the nextBattlefieldis set to launch in FY 2026, which will run from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026. Given the fact that most newBattlefieldreleases tend to target year-end release windows, that might suggest the next game in the series will launch sometime in the final months of the year.Sure enough, leaks claimed about a year ago that the game was targeting an October 2025 release, and it sounds like that might still be the plan behind-the-scenes.EA recently announced a new community testing program for the nextBattlefield, stating it wants the community to play a key role in the future of the franchise. Read more on that through here.

  • Google has very good ideas for native ads in Gemini
    www.theverge.com
Googles Gemini AI assistant doesnt have ads today, but the company has very good ideas for ways they could show up down the road, CEO Sundar Pichai said on Alphabets investor call this afternoon. Right now, you can access Gemini for free or pay for a subscription to use advanced features, but it sounds like ads could be part of the product at some point. On the call, a Wells Fargo analyst asked Pichai how people should think about the future monetization opportunity of Gemini and if the company sees a potential ad component. Heres my transcription of Pichais answer, which Ive lightly edited for clarity:On the monetization side, for now, we have focused on a free tier and subscriptions. But as youve seen [with] Google over time, we always want to lead with the user experience and we do have very good ideas for native ad concepts. But you will see us lead with the user experience.I do think were always committed to making the products work and reach billions of users at scale. And advertising has been a great aspect of that strategy. Just like youve seen with YouTube, well give people options over time. But for this year, I think youll see us be focused on the subscription direction.Based on that last sentence, it doesnt seem like youll have to worry about ads in Gemini at least through this year. But Googles overall business is built on ads, and it seems like we should expect them to come to Gemini at some point. Theyre already in AI Overviews, after all.Google didnt immediately reply to a request for comment. As part of its earnings, Google also announced that it plans to spend $75 billion this year on capital expenditures to help it keep up in the AI race.

  • Heres OpenAIs new logo
    www.theverge.com
OpenAIs wordmark uses the companys updated typeface, OpenAI sans.OpenAI just gave itself a full rebrand, complete with a new typeface, logo, and color palette, as explained to Wallpaper in an interview about the process behind the changes. Youll have to look closely to spot the difference between the redrawn logo and its old one, but a side-by-side comparison shows the updated blossom with a slightly larger space in the center and cleaner lines.Though the original logo was designed by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and co-founder Ilya Sutskever, an in-house design team led by Veit Moeller and Shannon Jager took the reins this time around, intending to create a more organic and more human identity, Wallpaper reports.OpenAIs old logo (left) vs. its new one (right). Image: OpenAIAs part of the rebrand, OpenAI showed off a new typeface called OpenAI sans that it says blends geometric precision and functionality with a rounded, approachable character. It now uses this typeface in the OpenAI wordmark, which features an O with a perfectly round exterior and an imperfect interior to counter any robotic precision and make things feel more human, Moeller said, according to Wallpaper. When asked whether OpenAI used the companys AI-powered tools like ChatGPT to create the designs, Moeller told Wallpaper that the team only used it to help calculate different type weights. We collaborate with leading experts in photography, typography, motion, and spatial design while integrating AI tools like DALLE, ChatGPT, and Sora as thought partners, OpenAIs designers told Wallpaper. This dual approach where human intuition meets AIs generative potential allows us to craft a brand that is not just innovative, but profoundly human.
