• Gundam Extreme Versus 2 Infinite Boost Gets Location Tests In March
    www.forbes.com
'Gundam Extreme Versus 2 Over Boost' also gets updates later this month.Bandai NamcoThe update to Gundam Extreme Versus 2 Over Boost will start getting location tests in the Japanese arcades this March. With Infinite Boost planned for an arcade release in 2025, these location tests are an important step before the game can be released more widely.Location tests are a staple in arcade gaming, and they can be used for everything from balancing to overall stability fixes. The location test schedule lists two arcades, one in Chiba and another in Osaka, on March 8 and 9.This is not to say that Over Boost is being neglected; it will receive unit and balancing updates on February 19.The two new units are the Infinite Justice Gundam Type II from Gundam SEED Freedom and the Todesritter (shown above) from the PlayStation 3 game Gundam Side Stories. The former costs 3000 points, while the latter costs only 2500.MORE FOR YOUThe Todesritter is also an interesting choice, as it adds another mobile suit to the Missing Link roster, as the Todesritter is built from the remains of the Pale Rider in the games story. The balancing changes are also quite substantial, which shows that Bandai Namco is actually keeping an eye on the Gundam Extreme Versus community, at least in Japan. It will take a while before Gundam Extreme Versus 2 gets a console port, but in the meantime, you can play the genuinely excellent Gundam Extreme Versus Maxiboost ON on PlayStation 4 and, consequently, on PlayStation 5.Why Maxiboost ON hasnt been ported to Steam yet is beyond me, but it is still arguably one of the best Gundam games ever made and worth picking up if you havent done so already.Follow me on X, Facebook and YouTube. I also manage Mecha Damashii and am currently featured in the Giant Robots exhibition currently touring Japan.

  • How To Protect Your Data From Google Dorking (Hacking)
    www.forbes.com
There are a series of security measures you can take that should help your Google account stay ... [+] secure from dorking.gettyGoogle dorking is the use of advanced search operators to find specific information on the internet that might not be findable using standard search queries. Google dorking is also known as Google hacking which is misleading, as its perfectly legal, and is often used by security professionals to find vulnerabilities in their organization's systems. However, the flip side if this is that the technique also allows hackers to access information that you'd rather remained private. This can include, for example, unsecured login portals or sensitive company documents. We look at the risks of Google dorking, and what you can do to stay safe. What Is Google Dorking? So named because they involve searching like a dork, Google Dorks were first introduced by computer security expert Johnny Long.In 2002, Long started using custom queries to search for elements of websites that could be leveraged in cyberattacks. The list gradually expanded; and two years later, these queries were codified into the Google Hacking Database (GHDB) as a dictionary of queries designed to be used by penetration testers. However, it didnt take long before cyber criminals were using the techniques, too, in order to unearth, for example, unprotected databases, server credentials or private documents that were not meant to be publicly accessible. How Does Google Dorking Work?Google dorking relies on the fact that when Google crawls the web to index pages for its search engine, it can see parts of websites that normal internet users cant.It allows searchers to use the advanced operators used for this by Google, together with keywords, to locate specific text strings within search results. But while the technique can be useful for anybody, it also offers distinct possibilities for hackers. Conversely, its also often used by security professionals to identify vulnerabilities in their systems. Google dorking doesn't require any great level of skill: it's simply a question of checking through a list of possible dorks and then following instructions.MORE FOR YOUCommon Google Dorking Commands And ExamplesThere are literally thousands of Google dork commands, most perfectly innocuous and used simply to target searches more accurately, but some really only of use to security researchers or cyber criminals. Some of the most widely-used dorks include:site:inurl:intitle:intext:filetype:cache:link:Dorks can be linked together to create even more specific searches.1. site:Narrows results to a specific site or domain; for example, site:example.com searches only the example.com website.2. inurl:Finds pages that have the specified text in the URL; for example, inurl:dorking will find pages with dorking in the URL.3. intitle:Locates pages with the specified text in the title tag, for example intitle:advice.4. intext:Finds pages containing the exact phrase, for example: intext:John Smith.5. filetype:Returns results only of specific file types like PDFs, XLS or DOCX, for example: filetype:pdf6. cache:Finds cached versions of a web page, for example: cache:example.com7. link:Finds web pages that contain a link to a specific document, for example link:https://www.forbes.com/sites/technology/article/google-account-hacked/Google Dorking Cybersecurity RisksTheres nothing inherently bad about Google dorking: as we've seen, it can be a very useful tool for improving the accuracy of legitimate searches. It's also extremely helpful for penetration testers or ethical hackers aiming to improve the security of websites by looking for vulnerabilities. However, its also used by the bad guys, with hackers using Google dorks to find sensitive data such as employee information or intellectual property. It can also be used to identify security vulnerabilities such as misconfigured servers, outdated software and unsecured databases. And it's worth remembering that leaving your website vulnerable, particularly if those vulnerabilities are exploited, can carry other risks too for example, legal penalties and fines for compliance violations, or damage to your company's reputation. How Can You Protect Your Data? Those using Google dorking for nefarious purposes are generally after sensitive corporate information, or signs of cybersecurity vulnerabilities. There are a number of ways to try and ensure that it doesnt happen to you. These include the basic cyber security measures that you should be implementing across all your accounts, like limiting access to sensitive information, taking advantage of security tools and firewalls and using strong and unique passwords and two-factor authentication. Scan for vulnerabilities regularly, and use Google Search Console to delete sensitive websites from the results of public searches. Implement a tight Robust Robots.txt file, which instructs web robots about which pages on your site to crawl or ignore.Bottom LineGoogle dorking is a mixed blessing on the one hand, its a useful tool for improving the effectiveness of online searches, but on the other it can form a mechanism for hackers to access private information. But there are a series of security measures you can take that should help your website stay secure.Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)What Is DorkGPT?Theres an AI for everything these days, and Google dorking is no exception: DorkGPT is a free AI-powered tool that generates its results using Google dorks.Powered by Open AIs ChatGPT, its similar to use. Simply type a query into its search bar, and it will automatically generate a query using Google search operators to get results that should be more accurately targeted than other search methods.Do Google Dorks Work On Bing? The techniques of dorking work across other search engines too, for example as Bing, Yahoo and DuckDuckGo.In most cases, the specific dorks you can use are the same as those used for Google as they use the same search operators. The results dorking returns may vary from search engine to search engine, though, depending on how sites are indexed and how the search operators are interpreted. How To Tell If Your Google Account Is Hacked? There are a number of signs that your Google account may have been hacked discovering, perhaps, that your password no longer works, or that other personal information relating to the account has been changed.Other signs include receiving a security alert from Google warning that there has been a sign-in to your account from a new device, or of other behaviour that it deems unusual or suspicious. You may also be contacted by friends or family who have been receiving strange messages purportedly from you.

  • Anora is looking like a Best Picture frontrunner following DGA and PGA wins
    www.digitaltrends.com
The Oscar race got a little less cloudy in Feb. 8 following awards from the Producers Guild and Directors Guild. AnoraMy imposter syndrome is skyrocketing right now, as well as my cortisol levels, director Sean Baker said as he accepted the DGA prize for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Theatrical Feature FilmIts such an honor to be recognized by my peers.Recommended VideosAfter thanking his team and the folks at Neon who produced the film, he acknowledged that they were able to film the film on location in New York City for just $6 million. He also called out the films cast, especially star Mikey Madison, who he said changed the way hell be working with actors moving forward.ANORA - Official Trailer #2 - In Select Theaters OctoberWorking with [Madison] has changed the way I will be directing actors in the future, because of what she gave, Baker said. Hearing her incredible ideas a year before production, what she wanted to bring to the production and what shedidbring to it. [She has] an incredible career ahead. Please enable Javascript to view this contentAnoras wins cement its frontrunner status. 25 of the past 34 PGA Theatrical Motion Picture winners have gone on to repeat in Best Picture, and 19 of the past 22 DGA winners have repeated in Best Director at the Oscars. While there are certainly years that buck this trend, its an auspicious sign for a movie that emerged as a potential frontrunner all the way back at the Cannes Film Festival in May.While some pundits worried thatAnoramight be too controversial or spiky, given that its about an erotic dancer who marries a wealthy Russian boy only to see the marriage fall apart, it seems like there are people in Academy who are ready to reward it. The only question remaining is whether the movie will be able to keep up this momentum.Editors Recommendations

  • Leaked OnePlus timeline suggests at least four new devices this year
    www.digitaltrends.com
OnePlus has a lot of different things in the oven right now, and a newly-leaked roadmap suggests there could be a new device in April, May, October, and November. The leak comes via Oneline Technology on Weibo and seems to confirm several expected launches, including the OnePlus 13 Mini as the OnePlus 13T.The post lists the four devices as the OnePlus 13T, the Ace 5S, the OnePlus 14, and the OnePlus Ace 6 and Ace 6 Pro. The tipster says the products are temporarily named and are likely to change, so the exact names arent yet confirmed. If the company does go with the 13T naming scheme, it will be the first time since the OnePlus 10T released in 2022.Recommended VideosAs a side note, the OnePlus Open 2 isnt listed as one of the upcoming releases (though most estimates place the launch sometime around May.)Christine Romero-Chan / Digital TrendsThat doesnt mean the OnePlus Open 2 isnt launching. The list covers phones expected to launch in China this year, and the OnePlus Open 2 is thought to the global variant of the Oppo Find N5. As a result, OnePlus wouldnt include it here; the OnePlus Open 2 would be the name given the device on the global stage, not in the Chinese market. Please enable Javascript to view this contentThe post also provides a few details about the devices. It suggests OnePlus will make a change to the physical three-stage button, converting into something like the Action Button found on modern iPhones. As always, take this information with a grain of salt. Oneline Technology has a reliable history with insider knowledge, but until OnePlus makes an official statement, the names and information could (and is likely to) change.Editors Recommendations

  • I moved my family from mainland US to Puerto Rico for a dream job. The island life wasn't what we expected.
    www.businessinsider.com
When I was offered a dream job, I moved my family from the mainland US to Puerto Rico in 2015.On the island, we sometimes had no running water, struggled to get around, and items were costly.Though we struggled to adapt, we loved island life and didn't regret the move.In 2015, I moved my family of four from Pennsylvania to Puerto Rico to pursue my dream job. Although I had lived on the island when I was young and vacationed there, I had never worked professionally or lived there as an adult. When I accepted the job as a service manager at a MedTech company, I fell in love with the idea of warm weather and being near the beach year-round. Plus, the job offered me international experience, which I was looking for.The thought of living, working, and maybe even retiring in Puerto Rico motivated me the most. But the reality of the island life wasn't what I expected.A struggling economy made daily life costlyDuring one of my first days, an employee quipped, "I was wondering if you knew what was going on on the island. Everyone is leaving, but you took a job here."I was unaware that people were leaving the island for the US mainland for better job opportunities. The decline was due to a struggling economy and a rising unemployment rate.Since my company paid for everything at first including food while we were in a hotel I didn't notice how expensive everyday items were. That was until I had to pay for them out of my own pocket.Workplace norms were different on the islandHaving worked most of my career on the US mainland, I was used to living life on a strict schedule. Meetings started when they were meant to and ended at the appropriate time. But there was a more lax culture around timeliness at my new job. Meetings that didn't start or end on time were almost a daily work frustration. On several occasions, trying to impose my US-bred management style, I would call an employee who was late to a meeting but was unable to reach them, only for them to walk in 15 minutes late with Starbucks in their hands.Water shortage was a harsh realityWhen my family and I moved into our rented home in Catao, we were surprised to find that there was no running water.Puerto Rico was in a drought for the first time in almost two decades. Water was rationed, and we had to store it for the days when the water was turned off.I was used to having access to water when I needed it on the mainland, so it was a struggle for my family to adapt. In the US, we never had the local water department ration water because of a drought.Getting around the island was a challengeI often drove around the island. For a distance that would typically take me an hour in the US, even with some traffic, in Puerto Rico, it took 30 to 45 minutes longer.Driving on the island highway system was nothing like my normal drive on the I-76 in Pennsylvania, which stretches from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh. The only thing that would stop me in Pennsylvania was the need to get gas not a traffic light in a small town in the middle of the interstate. In the US, I was used to highways that were clearly marked with white lines. That was not always the case in Puerto Rico. Also, traffic norms are not the same. In Puerto Rico, it's common for drivers to stop at a red light, look both ways and then just keep going. On one occasion, as I waited at a red light with my family, another driver behind me got out of his car to tell me to run the red light. When I refused, he simply drove around me.Puerto Rico is still a paradise to enjoyDespite my challenges living in Puerto Rico, we enjoyed the warm weather, beaches, sightseeing, and food.We took the ferry from Catao across the bay to Old San Juan to go sightseeing. As a family, we went to the beach on Isla Verde, which was only 30 minutes away from us and one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Going a little further down from Isla Verde beach, we often stopped at the kiosks on the side of the highway to buy many of the island's popular food dishes. After just over a year, we eventually returned to the mainland when I landed another job. My time in Puerto Rico was memorable, and I do not regret it.But if I had to do it all over again, I would research the island more to ensure I was ready for the move and better plan to adjust to the difference between living on an island and the US mainland. I wrongly assumed that since Puerto Rico is part of the US, the infrastructure and the ways of living would be the same, but that was not the case.

  • I wasn't prepared for the loneliness I felt when my ex and I separated. When my son isn't here, the silence in my house is overwhelming.
    www.businessinsider.com
My soon-to-be ex-husband and I separated last year, and adjusting to an empty house has been hard. When my son isn't with me, the silence in the house is nearly unbearable.I'm learning to cope with the silence and the loneliness that comes along with it.No one warns you about the silence. The kind that seeps into the spaces you didn't expect between the couch cushions, in the scattered toys left on the floor, in the glass of wine you poured because it felt like something you should do. The one that's still there the next morning, stale and untouched a quiet reminder that you don't even know what you want, what you need. It's there because your 3-year-old is at his dad's, his half-empty juice still sitting on the table like he'll be right back for it. But it's not just the absence of noise it's the unbearable weight of it. A relentless, invisible kind of torture that makes you hear things you'd rather ignore doubts, regrets, and the debilitating ache of wondering who the hell you are now.I didn't know what to expect when my ex and I separatedWhen my soon-to-be ex-husband and I separated in June of last year, I expected challenges, of course, but nothing prepared me for the deafening quiet of a half-empty home. In the beginning, I tried to avoid it. I made plans on the nights I didn't have Joey, surrounding myself with the friends who stuck around the ones who didn't scatter when my life got messy. The others? They didn't just disappear they turned my painful reality into a high school drama, piecing together their version of my situation without ever asking me for mine. Their absence had a weight of its own. When no one was around, likely busy with their spouses or less-depressing lives, I'd ask my best friend, who lives in Maine, for binge-worthy show recommendations. Whether it was Yellowjackets or a true-crime documentary, I appreciated the opportunity to get lost in someone else's misery because mine was too much to bear. When Joey is with his dad, his things become both a source of comfort and a sharp reminder of his absence. I say the names of his monster trucks aloud as I tidy up Boneshaker, Mega Wrex, Gravedigger, El Toro Loco, Tiger Shark hearing Joey's voice in my mind, the way he announces each one with wild enthusiasm.I pick up his Batman cape, crusted with who-knows-what, and toss it in the laundry so it'll be clean when he comes back. I throw out hardened Play-Doh blobs, disassemble the Magna Tiles castle he built for me, fold his Paw Patrol underwear, make his bed. But these tasks they aren't chores. They're how I hold onto him when he's not here. The silence is difficult to deal with, but it's getting easierSometimes, the silence feels like my worst enemy. I run the dishwasher with barely a few plates inside, just to fill the quiet. I do laundry, not because it's piling up, but because the sound offers a strange comfort. Or, I write pouring my pain onto the page because it feels like the only productive thing I can possibly do. I write about regret, about the choices that led me here, about loneliness and its many forms. But I also write about hope for Joey, for myself. In therapy, I once confessed that I didn't know what to do with myself when I was alone. My therapist, Meaghan, said, "No one ever taught you how to be sad." And she was right. My life was filled with distractions, solutions to sadness rather than space for it. If I felt pain, I fled. If discomfort crept in, I'd find a way to replace it. But now, avoidance isn't an option. I know I must learn to sit with my sadness not as an enemy to defeat, but as a reality to accept. And I seem to be getting closer. One night recently, I was alone in the kitchen when Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams" came on, and before I knew it, I was twirling. I spun in circles, arms outstretched, belting, "But listen carefully to the sound of your loneliness in the stillness of remembering what you hadand what you lost..." And there I was singing, swaying, smiling in a space of my own. A space I could fill with whatever the hell I wanted. And I wasn't scared. The silence isn't nearly as suffocating as it was. It feels different now less like an empty void and more like a new territory I'm slowly learning to fill with my own voice a voice I'm finally listening to without someone telling me it's too dramatic, too needy, too much. And in this quiet, I'm discovering not just how to be alone, but how to be me. And maybe, for the first time in my life, I'm starting to understand who that really is.

  • How to Watch the Super Bowl 2025 Live for Free in Canada
    gizmodo.com
Very few events are as exciting as the Super Bowl. February 9th marks a significant date, as well witness an intense clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. Americans are enamored, and so are Canadianssome of whom cant access a free livestream of the Super Bowl LIX.If you dont want to pay for expensive streaming platforms and dont have a cable subscription, youll be happy to know that a free channel is streaming Super Bowl 2025, which you can access from Canada. That channel is Tubi, and well explain how it works.Where to Watch the Super Bowl for Free in Canada?Watching Eagles vs. Chiefs for free is possible on Tubi. Tubi is a U.S. streaming service (owned by Fox). It will stream Super Bowl LIX from start to finish, including the halftime show, in full HD with English commentary. However, Tubi is only available in the U.S. So, despite its English-speaking roots, Canadians wont be able to access the channel.Theyll even see a strange error message. This is a sign that Tubi is blocked like many other US TV channels in Canada.Does this mean you, all of a sudden, cant access the free live stream of the Super Bowl in Canada? No theres a workaround.Watch Super Bowl LIX With NordVPNHow to Access Tubi in CanadaPeople in Canada have reported using a clever trick: theyre using a VPN like NordVPN to watch the Super Bowl 2025 for free on Tubi. Why?Well, Tubi blocks access to people outside the USA by reading their IP addresses. If the IP address is outside the US, Tubi registers an impostor and displays the error. Henceforth, the goal is to get an American IP, which can be done with a VPN.NordVPN, as the most popular VPN provider, was a logical choice. People who want to watch the Super Bowl on a free channel in Canada simply subscribe to NordVPN, set it up on their devices, and connect to one of its U.S. servers. In return, they acquire a US IP address needed to access Tubi and the free live stream in question. The final step is account creation on Tubi (which is free), after which, access to the entire Tubi library is allowed. As they also reported, they frequently use NordVPNs 30-day money-back guarantee. Since the match lasts about 4 hours, its easy to obtain a full refund and not lose a single cent.Canadian Channels for Watching the Super BowlThe free channel that streams the Super Bowl LIX, Tubi, is by far the best way to go about it.However, if youre in Canada and dont want to use a VPN, you have a few more options. Well just tell you theyre not free.In particular, these two:TSNCTVBoth of these require cable TV subscriptions whose prices vary based on the cable TV operator. Then, we have these three:DAZN. It starts at $19.99/moTSN+. It starts at $8/moSiriusXM. It starts at $9.99/mo and only lets you listen to the broadcast.Indeed, you dont need to use NordVPN to watch the Super Bowl live in Canada. However, this induces non-refundable costs youre trying to avoid.Having in mind that Tubi is free and NordVPN can be refunded in 30 days, its easy to see why Canadians prefer this workaround.Try NordVPN risk-free today

  • If Aliens Spot Us First, What Signs of Intelligence Will They See?
    gizmodo.com
By Margherita Bassi Published February 9, 2025 | Comments (0) | How might a twin Earth with human-like life and technology detect our planet? Zayna Sheikh Having yet to discover any evidence of extraterrestrial life, its difficult to theorize about the kinds of beings that might exist beyond the reaches of our telescopes. Could there be an Earth-like planet with human-like beings and technology searching for us as ardently as were searching for them? Although a planet with life and technology similar to ours may be rare, studying how such beings might detect Earth could help advance our own search for intelligent life. As such, a team of researchers led by the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) Institutes Sofia Sheikh analyzed how a twin Earth might detect evidence of humanity on our planet, given our own standard of modern technology. Their theoretical study was published Monday in The Astronomical Journal. One of the most satisfying aspects of this work was getting to use SETI as a cosmic mirror. What does Earth look like to the rest of the galaxy? And how would our current impacts on our planet be perceived? Sheikh said in a SETI Institute statement. While of course, we cannot know the answer, this work allowed us to extrapolate and imagine what we might assume if we ever discover a planet, with, say, high concentrations of pollutants in its atmosphere. Sheikh and her team studied Earths technosignatures: potential signs of intelligent life with advanced technology, such as radio signals, artificial light, and/or nitrogen dioxide emissions. Indeed, our current or shortly forthcoming instruments, including the Habitable Worlds Observatory (HWO), have the potential to detect nitrogen dioxide emissions up to 5.7 light-years away, which is farther than Earths closest star after the Sun. However, the researchers revealed that powerful radio signals such as those formerly emitted by the now-collapsed Arecibo Observatoryare Earths most perceptible technosignaturepotentially detectable up to 12,000 light-years away. The furthest distances from which Earths technosignatures could be detected using technology similar to our own, as well as some astronomical objects. SETI Institute Our goal with this project was to bring SETI back down to Earth for a moment and think about where we really are today with Earths technosignatures and detection capabilities, said Macy Huston of the University of California, Berkeley, a co-author of the study. In SETI, we should never assume other life and technology would be just like ours, but quantifying what ours means can help put SETI searches into perspective. In a hypothetical scenario, the closer an alien civilization is to Earth, the more technosignatures it would detectoften picking up multiple signals at once. In addition to radio signals and nitrogen dioxide emissions, they would eventually note other human-made signatures such as satellites, lasers, heat islands, and city lights. We have a multiwavelength constellation of technosignatures, with more of the constellation becoming visible the closer the observer becomes, the researchers wrote in the study. Sheikhs team claims to be the first to have studied technosignatures collectively rather than individually. While they admit that there probably isnt an Earth twin out there, analyzing our own technosignatures can nevertheless inform how we understand evidence of life and, as a consequence, how we search for it beyond our planet.Daily NewsletterYou May Also Like By Margherita Bassi Published February 6, 2025 By Isaac Schultz Published February 4, 2025 By Margherita Bassi Published February 1, 2025 By Isaac Schultz Published January 29, 2025 By Margherita Bassi Published January 23, 2025 By Passant Rabie Published January 21, 2025
