• Elon Musk's private jet left the Washington, DC area for the first time since Trump's inauguration
    www.businessinsider.com
Elon Musk's work with DOGE has dominated political discourse in recent weeks.Early in Trump's second term, Musk has become a fixture in Washington. One of Musk's private jets recently left the DC area for the first time in weeks.A Gulfstream jet owned by Elon Musk, who is these days mostly busy with his work at the Department of Government Efficiency, has left the Washington, DC area for the first time since President Donald Trump's January inauguration. That's according to data provided by Jack Sweeney, who tracks the private planes of high-profile figures like Musk and music megastar Taylor Swift.Flight information shows one of Musk's jets leaving Washington-Dulles International Airport in Virginia on Friday and traveling to Austin. In recent years, Texas has become the home base for the Tesla and SpaceX chief executive. It's unclear if Musk himself was on the jet that left the Washington area.Business Insider has reached out to Musk for comment.Sweeney told Business Insider that it's unusual for Musk's jet to be in one place for such a long period."It might be possible that he left DC and flew on someone else's plane, which I don't know," Sweeney said. "But, obviously, he's been focused on the government."Musk has become the face of Trump's efforts to shrink or eliminate government departments and agencies by focusing on their spending and finding efficiencies that could save taxpayer dollars. The tech mogul has set his sights on the United States Agency for International Development, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and the Department of Education, among other departments, as he aims to reduce spending across the board. Some Democratic lawmakers have questioned whether Musk has aconflict of interestgiven federal contracts that his company, SpaceX, has previously received.Others have raised concerns about the young DOGE staffers who largely lack government experience. Last week, 19 Democratic state attorneys general sued Trump for giving DOGE access to sensitive, personal information at the Treasury Department.Musk hopes to cut at least $1 trillion in spending and has said that cutting $2 trillion in spending is the "best-case outcome."

  • New How to Train Your Dragon Footage Takes to the Skies
    gizmodo.com
Unlike Jurassic World, Fantastic Four, M3GAN, and others, Toothless and his crew are breaking the Super Bowl mold. During the big game, a new TV spot for the live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon played but, unlike those films, the trailer wasnt already out nor was it released in conjunction. Instead, well have to wait until Tuesday to see the full thing. Nevertheless, were starting to get very curious about this film as we see more and more. How to Train Your Dragon is a remake of the 2010 animated film of the same name, which went on to spawn two sequels and multiple TV franchises. Writer-director Dean DeBlois, who co-wrote and directed the original before fully taking over for two and three, returns and now classic characters like Hiccup, Toothless, Astrid, Stoick, and others exist in reality. We see them all in this brand-new TV spot which also gives us our first glimpse of Toothless and Hiccup flying.. Like many of you, were huge fans of the original How to Train Your Dragon series and some of our biggest questions about this remake center on the question of Why? Why is this film even happening? Is it merely a cash grab? Does it have to do with the new How to Train Your Dragon land opening at Universe Studios Orlandos Epic Universe? Will the movie justify its existence in any way? And, will it be able to give us the same feelings we had watching the original without tainting it? The footage above looks like maybe itll all work out. And, surely, well be able to discern a bit more when the trailer drops.Starring Mason Thames, Gerard Butler, Nico Parker, Nick Frost, Julian Dennison, Gabriel Howell, Bronwyn James, Harry Trevaldwyn, Ruth Codd, Peter Serafinowicz, and Murray McArthur, How to Train Your Dragon opens June 13. • Cowes Primary School / Project 12 Architecture

Glen HesterArchitects: Project 12 ArchitectureAreaArea of this architecture projectArea:1194 mYearCompletion year of this architecture project Year: 2022 PhotographsPhotographs:Glen Hester, Hamish McIntosh Lead Architects: Aimee Goodwin and Louis Gadd More SpecsLess SpecsSave this picture!Text description provided by the architects. The brief was to provide a new competition-grade gymnasium for Cowes Primary School. The design specifically addresses the educational objectives of the school and provides a facility that can be used by the broader community on Phillip Island. The new gymnasium has been designed to accommodate the whole school community and operate in a range of functions.Save this picture! The school is located in Bunurong Country. After close consultation with the school, school council, and wider community, it was decided to locate the gym adjacent to an area of native bushland called the 'Community Sanctuary'. The connection to landscape was a key driver in the design. It looked to re-establish the school's engagement with the sanctuary, which was previously underutilized. Carefully considered views and connections are provided out to the landscape and to the adjoining pool, always anchoring the building within its immediate surroundings. An external teaching space adjoins the Music Room, nestled into the edge of the Sanctuary, providing an opportunity for students to learn directly within the landscape and emphasize their connection to the country.Save this picture!Prior to the completion of the new gym, there was only one other public basketball court on the island. The school has established partnerships with local community groups who use the facility outside of school hours. The design provides an easily accessible and identifiable building for the school and wider community. At night, the translucent Danpalon cladding glows, acting as a beacon for those arriving.Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!Save this picture!Architecturally, the building has been designed to settle into the surrounding landscape through neutral and translucent materials which were carefully selected to provide a robust, low-maintenance solution, particularly important in a coastal environment and in a high-impact setting of a school gymnasium. The planning of the building is simple and rational. The double height volume of the court is nestled on the edge of the 'Sanctuary', with a single-storey volume to the north, that houses a kitchen, entry, and change rooms, which serve both the gym and existing pool. The raised floor of the Music Room provides a stage for performing arts, presentations, assemblies, and school functions.Save this picture!'The outcome is truly remarkable and the attention to detail in the design has not gone unnoticed by students, staff, parents, or members of the broader community. The gymnasium has been seamlessly integrated with its site, bringing a sense of calm and connection. From the initial design, it was clear that Project 12 Architecture understood the site and the school's desire to ensure the facility integrated with, and enhanced existing assets whilst providing a quality learning space.'Save this picture!Project gallerySee allShow lessAbout this officePublished on February 10, 2025Cite: "Cowes Primary School / Project 12 Architecture" 09 Feb 2025. • Rogue Waters Review
    gamerant.com
Rogue Waters is a tactical turn-based roguelite that seeks to regale players with the tale of Captain Cutter, a rascally pirate made immortal whose destiny is greater than anything he imagined. Gamers who have played Darkest Dungeon 2 may notice a number of similarities, such as the branching map when one starts their adventure. Fortunately, Rogue Waters quickly establishes its own identity with a swashbuckling story, ship-to-ship combat, and a more forgiving approach to encounters. Ice Code Games has managed to create a memorable experience, and while it was initially released for PC in 2024, Rogue Waters is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.

  • The best and biggest movie trailers from Super Bowl 2025
    www.polygon.com
The Super Bowl is as much about the spectacle as it is about the football. That tradition of spectacle includes the commercials: Super Bowl ads tend to be big swings, featuring a lot of celebrities and attention-grabbing ploys. That usually includes movie trailers for the years upcoming blockbusters (and hopeful blockbusters). In recent years, though, Super Bowl movie trailers have become short teasers for the full-length ads playing online. Super Bowl LIX (still in process as of this posting) has been a big showcase for superheroes, live-action remakes of animated movies, dinosaurs, and Tom Cruise, but so far, only in 30-second spots that point to longer trailers online. Here are all the big (albeit short) movie trailers from this years Super Bowl, some of which were released well in advance of The Big Game:Thunderbolts*Marvel Studios Thunderbolts* got a very short TV spot during the Super Bowl itself, but that was just a taste of the much longer trailer. By then, were sure to know what that asterisk is all about.Jurassic World RebirthWe got our first look at Jurassic World Rebirth a few days before Super Bowl LIX, but a new Big Game Spot shows a little bit more of the relaunched franchise. Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali lead the new Jurassic World movie, which sends an extraction team to the island research facility for the original Jurassic Park, which is inhabited by the worst of the worst dinos.Jurassic World Rebirth roars into theaters on July 2.Mission: Impossible The Final ReckoningAgain, the Super Bowl spot for Mission: Impossible The Final Reckoning is just a taste of a longer, already released trailer, but it has the No. 1 thing you want: Tom Cruise hanging off the side of a plane. The eighth Mission: Impossible movie, a direct sequel to 2023s Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One, is coming to movie theaters on May 23.How to Train Your DragonThe Big Game Spot for DreamWorks live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon is a trailer for a trailer! But unlike other movie studios that want you to immediately run to YouTube for the longer version, Universal is hoping youll check back in on Wednesday, when the full trailer for How to Train Your Dragon drops. • Marvels Thunderbolts* shows off a spooky new villain
    www.polygon.com
While we dont know everything about Marvel Studios upcoming Thunderbolts* (like what the asterisk stands for), thanks to the new trailer released during the Super Bowl, we have an even clearer confirmation of who the villain is.Seen in the newly released footage as a shadowy form like a silhouette of a caped man, the figure floats like Superman and annihilates people with a hand movement, like Thanos. Given some clues from previous trailers, and a bit of comics knowledge, Thunderbolts* might as well have scrolled a wiki link across the screen. If you want to remain unspoiled for the theater, stop reading now!Previous trailers for Thunderbolts* have introduced us to Bob (seen above), played by Lewis Pullman (Outer Range, Top Gun: Maverick), and a few other details that indicate that hes the MCUs version of Robert Reynolds, known as the Sentry. As we wrote back in September: Created by writer Paul Jenkins and artist Jae Lee in 2000s Sentry miniseries for Marvels mature-fare imprint, Marvel Knights, Robert Reynolds wields cosmos-shaking power as the superhero known as the Sentry. Following an encounter with one of the worlds innumerable attempts to reproduce Steve Rogers super soldier serum, he gained Superman-like powers including immense strength, speed, flight, invulnerability, enhanced senses, and solar energy absorption and some extras, like molecular manipulation and mind manipulation. As the Sentry, Bob has a costume with a cape, and when hes in a comic, the destructive entity known as the Void wont be far behind because the Void is twinned with the Sentry, in some way either cosmic or mundane, depending on which era of Sentry stories youre reading. Again, as we wrote back when:Is the Void a mirror entity to the Sentrys powers, or Reynolds own alternate personality, as expressed with the Sentrys powers? Is it a manifestation of Reynolds fear of his misusing his abilities, brought to reality by his own psychic strength? Or was that fear itself implanted in Reynolds by a supervillain in order to destroy him and all memories of him?Thunderbolts* has all of these explanations to choose from, on top of simply inventing their own bespoke version of the Void/Sentry/Robert dynamic. The only real throughline with the character is that hes a supremely powerful Superman analogue called the Sentry, whose presence attracts an equally powerful evil entity called the Void, which, itself, may or may not be a product of Reynolds fragile psyche. How did the Sentry and the Void come to be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? For that, well have to wait for May 2, when Thunderbolts* hits theaters.
