  • FTC asks to delay Amazon Prime deceptive practices trial
    www.theverge.com
Attorneys at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) asked a federal judge Wednesday to delay its consumer protection trial against Amazon by two months, saying that staffing losses and a possible office move could hinder its ability to prepare. We have lost employees in the agency, in our division and on our case team, FTC attorney Jonathan Cohen said at a status hearing in Washington, according to CNBC. Cohen also warned that a potential sudden office move for the agency could disrupt its preparation, CNBC reports. The FTC recently terminated around a dozen probationary staffers, The Verge first reported. Its so far been spared from some of the wider cuts fueled by Elon Musks Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which have occurred at agencies including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and Department of Education. FTC staff were recently told by DOGE theyd need to move to an office it cleared out from the US Agency for International Development (USAID) in the coming months, Bloomberg reported.Responding to Judge John Chuns question about how the FTCs resource issue will be different in two months, Cohen acknowledged he cannot guarantee if things wont be even worse, CNBC reports. But theres a lot of reason to believe ... we may have been through the brunt of it, at least for a little while. The FTC filed suit against Amazon in June 2023, under the previous Democratic chair Lina Khan. The agency alleged that Amazon used design tricks known as dark patterns to deceive millions of customers into signing up for its Prime subscription, and made it difficult to unsubscribe. Under Khan, the FTC also separately filed an antitrust complaint against Amazon. Both those cases are now under the stewardship of the new Republican FTC Chair Andrew Ferguson, whos signaled both loyalty toward President Trump and his policies, and combativeness toward Big Tech. Amazon founder and executive chairman Jeff Bezos has recently cozied up to Trump, attending his inauguration alongside other tech CEOs after Amazon gave $1 million to his inauguration fund. The Amazon Prime trial was initially scheduled to begin on September 22nd. John Hueston, arguing on Amazons behalf, reportedly pushed back on the FTCs attempt to delay the trial, saying that the government hasnt shown that it doesnt have the resources to proceed as scheduled. What I heard is that theyve got the whole trial team still intact. Maybe theres going to be an office move, Hueston said, as reported by CNBC. And by the way, both in government and private sector, Ive never heard of an office move being more than a few days disruptive.See More:

  • What Is Mcp By Anthropic?(Model Context Protocol)
    towardsai.net
Author(s): Adarsh Menon Originally published on Towards AI. while learning about MCP, I was initially perplexed regarding its functionality; my confusion deepened while examining the architecture. When I say architecture is pretty complicated, I mean the following:-Motivation By Anthropic : Models are only as good as the context provided to themSo this blog seeks to simplify complex structures for anyone interested in learning about them. MCP was booming in X recently, so I wanted to study about it. In this blog, we will learn about it as well as how to implement it.This blog will explain: a.) What is MCP?b.)How does MCP work and its necessity? c.) The Architecture of the MCP ? d.) Basic Implementation of MCP ?e.) What are the advantages and disadvantages of MCP?f.)What are the potential future developments and evolutions? a.)What is MCP?The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that enables developers to build secure, two-way connections between their data sources and AI-powered tools. The architecture is straightforward: developers can either expose their data through MCP servers or build AI applications (MCP clients) that connect to these servers. (Definition By Anthropic)Anthropic defines MCP as connecting clients to a mid-ware server that connects other APIs and exposes tools, resources, and prompts. Exposing means displaying existing functionalities or names to users. Model Context Protocol is currently open source, which means that anyone can build their own MCP Server or use one of the existing MCP Servers we shall discuss. The Model Context Protocol enables applications to offer context for LLMs in a consistent manner, isolating the concerns of context provision from the actual LLM interaction.MCP is an open protocol for standardizing how applications deliver context to LLMs. Think of MCP as a USB-C port for AI applications. MCP provides a standardized means to link AI models to multiple data sources and tools, just as USB-C does for connecting devices to ports and accessories. The Model Context Protocol (MCP) lets you build servers that expose data and functionality to LLM applications in a standardized way. Think of it like a web API, but specifically designed for LLM interactions. MCP servers can:Expose data through Resources (think of these sort of like GET endpoints; they are used to load information into the LLMs context)Provide functionality through Tools (sort of like POST endpoints; they are used to execute code or otherwise produce a side effect)Define interaction patterns through Prompts (reusable templates for LLM interactions) b.)How does MCP work and its necessity?MCP can serve as a foundational framework for Agentic. Consider an AI agent tasked with sending a message via Slack or accessing a database; configuring the API can be cumbersome. However, with an MCP server, one can access multiple applications in a standardized manner.SOURCE : AI GENERATEDThis is a straightforward explanation of how MCP operates by offering a unified API, enabling the LLM to select tools and execute instructions. It resembles an electrician functioning as a client/host, with a toolbox serving as a server that contains the necessary tools, resources (potentially an instruction manual), and so forth. This is my interpretation or perspective on how MCP functions. c.) The Architecture of the MCP ?At its core, MCP follows a client-server architecture where a host application can connect to multiple servers. This is the parts of the Architecture:-MCP Hosts: Applications such as Claude Desktop, integrated development environments (IDEs), or artificial intelligence tools seeking data access via MCP.MCP Clients: Protocol clients that sustain one-to-one connections with servers.MCP Servers: Efficient applications that each provide distinct functionalities via the standardized Model Context Protocol .Regional Data Repositories: The files, databases, and services on your computer that MCP servers can access securely.Remote Services: External services accessible via the internet (e.g., through APIs) to which MCP servers can connect.Core Concepts:)Server : The FastMCP server is your core interface to the MCP protocol. It handles connection management, protocol compliance, and message routing.2. )Resources: Resources are how you expose data to LLMs. Theyre similar to GET endpoints in a REST API they provide data but shouldnt perform significant computation or have side effects.3. )Tools: Tools let LLMs take actions through your server. Unlike resources, tools are expected to perform computation and have side effects.4. )Prompts: Prompts are reusable templates that help LLMs interact with your server effectively.5. )Context: The Context object gives your tools and resources access to MCP capabilities. The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is constructed on a versatile, expandable framework that facilitates uninterrupted communication across LLM applications and integrations. This document addresses the fundamental architectural elements and principles.MCP adheres to a client-server architecture in which: Hosts are LLM software (such as Claude Desktop or integrated development environments) that establish connections. Clients sustain one-to-one connections with servers within the host application. Servers furnish background, tools, and prompts to clients. d.) Basic Implementation of MCP ?We have developed a fundamental version of MCP by incorporating a tool that provides or returns your name, indicating its addition. This serves as a demonstration, essentially the Hello World of MCP. Utilizing MCP, one can save and retrieve memory, invoke APIs, and perform more functions. We have provided our GitHub URL for the project; you may review it. To conduct tests, we utilize a tool called MCP Inspector, which verifies whether tools, resources, or prompts are being exposed and executed. You are primarily expected to test it using Claude Desktop or Cursor IDE, although you may also utilize the inspector mode.SOURCE: INSPECTOR MODE OUTPUTGITHUB : https://github.com/Adarsh-Menon/Getting-Started-with-MCP e.) What are the advantages and disadvantages of MCP?->Advantages:-Enhances contextual comprehension in big language models through structured context management.Reduces context window limitations by efficiently organizing information.Facilitates better information retrieval from the conversation history.->Disadvantages:-It is currently compatible with Cursor IDE, Windsurf IDE, and Claude Desktop as clients.Utilizing MCP servers from external organizations may result in issues pertaining to the security and safety of ones workflow or software.Still relatively new, with evolving best practices and standards.Might require specialized knowledge to implement effectively.Cf.)What are the potential future developments and evolutions?I believe it is relatively new, having been released by Anthropic in November, making it 3.5 months old as I write this. It has the potential to be a game changer in the future, as it equips intelligent systems with remarkable tools that enhance overall workflow and facilitate complete autonomy. This protocol may contribute to that goal, so we must remain patient for approximately 45 months to observe its development. A much evolved version will likely be released, stemming from the existing MCP. It is technology that influences the present AI landscape as well. • Spider-Man 4 Casts Stranger Things Sadie Sink to Star Alongside Tom Holland, Reportedly as Either X-Men Favorite Jean Grey or Mary Jane Watson
    www.ign.com
Sadie Sink, who plays Max Mayfield in Stranger Things, is reportedly set to star alongside Tom Holland in Spider-Man 4.Deadline reports that Sink, who made her film debut in the 2016 biographical sports drama Chuck, will appear in the upcoming MCU movie, which begins filming later this year and has a release date of July 31, 2026.Marvel and Sony had no comment when contacted by Deadline.Could Saide Sink play Jean Grey in Spider-Man 4? Photo by Arturo Holmes/WireImage,Deadline speculates that Sink will play either X-Men character Jean Grey or another beloved redheaded Spider-Man character. That suggests Mary Jane Watson, but quite how her introduction would fit into Peter Parkers ongoing relationship with Michelle "MJ" Jones-Watson, played by Zendaya in the previous Spider-Man films, remains to be seen. Deadline sounds confident Sink has a significant role in Spider-Man 4, which could be something of a reset given the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. In that film, Peter reintroduces himself to MJ after Doctor Strange erases his identity from everyones memory.Holland is currently filming Christopher Nolans The Odyssey and the plan is for him to start shooting Spider-Man once he has finished production, Deadline reported.Jean Grey in the comics. Image credit: Marvel Comics.Late last year, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige teased the introduction of X-Men characters in the "next few" MCU movies.Feige told an audience at the Disney APAC Content Showcase in Singapore that fans would see some X-Men players that you might recognize in the next few MCU movies, but he stopped short of saying which characters or what movies. On bringing the X-Men into the MCU, Feige added: I think you will see that continues in our next few movies with some X-Men players that you might recognize.Right after that, the whole story of Secret Wars really leads us into a new age of mutants and of the X-Men. Again, [its] one of those dreams come true. We finally have the X-Men back.Every Confirmed Mutant in the MCU (So Far)At the time, Marvels next few movies, if we assume few to mean three, were Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, and then Phase Six kickstarter The Fantastic Four: First Steps in July 2025. Perhaps more likely are more mutant appearances throughout Phase 6 movies, which include 2026s Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man 4, and 2027s Avengers: Secret Wars. One of the key questions here will be whether Deadpool and Wolverine return to the MCU having seen such huge success with their own movie this summer. Could Channing Tatum also reprise his role as Gambit?Feige has also said the X-Men will be an important part of the MCUs future following Secret Wars. "When we were preparing for Avengers: Endgame years ago, it was a question of getting to the grand finale of our narrative, and then we had to start all over again after that, Feige said. This time, on the road to Secret Wars, we already know very well what the story is going to be until then and afterwards. The X-Men are an important part of that future. It sounds like Phase 7 of the MCU will be dominated by the X-Men, then, but in the short term, Storm appeared in What If...? Season 3, marking the characters first appearance in the wider MCU.In October, Marvel Studios added three untitled movie projects to its 2028 release schedule: February 18, 2028; May 5, 2028; and November 10, 2028. It seems increasingly likely one of these movies is X-Men.Photo by Arturo Holmes/WireImage.Wesley is the UK News Editor for IGN. Find him on Twitter at @wyp100. • Save $40 Off a Used: Like New PlayStation Portal Exclusively on Amazon
    www.ign.com
The PlayStation Portal has never been discounted, but at least you can save on a used one. Amazon Resale (a rebranded Amazon Warehouse) currently has Used: Like New condition PS Portals in stock for only $158.70 shipped. It retails for $199 new, so that's a substantial 20% in savings. A Sony warranty may or may not be included, but Amazon Resale items benefit from the same 30-day return policy you get for buying a new item. We expect this item to sell out pretty quickly.PlayStation Portal (Used: Like New) for Under $160Playstation PortalUsed: Like New ConditionLooks and functions as if it were new. Moderate packing damage observed during inspection. The PS Portal, Sony's handheld gaming accessory for the PS5 console, looks very much like an extended split-pad DualSense controller with an 8-inch 1080p LCD screen in the middle of it. It turns your PS5 into a gaming handheld by letting you stream games from your console at up to 60fps. The controller mirrors the same features found on the DualSense, including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a touchscreen interface that replaces the Dualsense's touchpad. The Portal can stream your games even when you're outside of your home, with the caveat that you have access to very stable, very fast internet connection. Keep in mind that the PS Portal is not a standalone device. This is strictly a remote player for the PlayStation 5, so you will need a PS5 to use it.Update: You no longer need a PS5 to play games on the PS Portal. Now, rather than being limited to simply streaming games from a $500 console to a $200 handheld, Sony has introduced a feature that lets owners stream games directly from its PlayStation Now cloud streaming service. No PS5 required. Portal owners now have the option to either connect the Portal to their PS5 as before, or directly to Sonys cloud servers. Choose the latter and suddenly you have access to a library of more than 120 games, including Ghost of Tsushima, Resident Evil 3 Remake, The Last of Us Part 1 Remastered, and Marvels Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Its worth noting you must be a subscriber to the highest tier of PlayStation Plus, but $18 a month is much more attractive that splashing out $500 upfront plus an extra $70 a game.It should be said that the PlayStation Portal isnt the only way to stream your PS5 games over Wi-Fi within your home. You can mimic its functionality by downloading the PS Remote Play app on a mobile device, including other gaming handhelds like the Steam Deck. That said, it's more complicated to set up and you'll lose out on some of the Dualsense's features.PlayStation Portal Review by Seth Macy"The PlayStation Portal is the most surprising device I've ever come away from loving after going in loaded with skepticism. It's such a better experience than using your phone with a slap-on controller, and it works so much better than I was anticipating. I really love the freedom it gives me to play my PS5 from anywhere with decent WiFi coverage, especially when the rest of my family was using the TV to (somewhat ironically) play the Switch. Bearing in mind that its in no way a stand-alone device and 100% requires a PlayStation 5 to function at all, the biggest things keeping the Portal from being a truly amazing device are its current lack of a way to access WiFi that requires a web browser to log in, and its lack of Bluetooth support for audio. For now, it's a great device that represents the best current solution for PlayStation Remote Play, and if it weren't for those two baffling caveats, I'd call this a must-own device for every PS5 owner who enjoys playing games on handheld or has to compete for the household TV."DualSense controllers are also on saleSterling SilverSony PS5 DualSense ControllerVolcanic RedSony PS5 DualSense ControllerCobalt BlueSony PS5 DualSense ControllerLenovo has just dropped the price of the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller to slightly lower than what we saw on Black Friday. Right now you can choose Sterling Silver, Volcanic Red, or Cobalt Blue for only $54 plus free shipping after you apply coupon code "PLAY5" in cart. This is probably going to be your last chance to get a DualSense controller at this price for quite a while, especially one that's decked out in a eye-catching metallic colorway. Why Should You Trust IGN's Deals Team?IGN's deals team has a combined 30+ years of experience finding the best discounts in gaming, tech, and just about every other category. • Death of a Unicorn Review: A24 Offers Bloody, Horn-y Fun
    www.denofgeek.com
So like a unicorn is just a horse with a horn, right?Sure, the mythical beasts are often associated with other supernatural features in the cryptozoological canon. In some stories, they soar through the sky via the power of friendship and rainbows. In others, they grant extended (if cursed) life to the drinker of their sparkly blood. But at the end of the day its really all about that horn, baby.Death of a Unicorn, the A24-produced horror-comedy starring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega, understands the horns importance as well as any other film in the hallowed unicorn monster movie genre (which includes approximately zero other films at the moment). The gnarled cranial spikes of these fancy horses tear into flesh and guts with glee. They flip over various obstacles and hiding spots, revealing tasty human snacks underneath. Theyre also occasionally ground into a fine powder that functions as a pharmaceutical-grade hallucinogen. If something can be done with a unicorn horn, Death of a Unicorn endeavors to try it out. That commitment to the bit alone puts this debut effort from writer-director Alex Scharfman firmly into charming B-movie territory. Even if the plot around the horn-y mayhem largely fails to impress.Death of a Unicorn finds attorney Elliot Kintner (Rudd) and his daughter Ridley (Ortega) arriving in Canada to meet at the massive rustic estate of Elliots rich, prospective employers, the Leopold family. Patriarch Odell Leopold (Richard E. Grant) is terminally ill and seeks a legal expert to assist his loving wife Belinda (Ta Leoni) and idiot son Shepard (Will Poulter) in maintaining his empire after his passing. Elliot is therefore a candidate to guide the company trust, but the Leopolds wont be able to make a final determination until he proves himself a true family man, getting along with his daughter even after the untimely death of his wife and Ridleys mother. The teenaged Ridleys involvement in this trip is as inexplicable as the presence of the unicorns themselves. She is conjured only to provide an emotional arc for the Kintners and to serve as a young, vaping foil to the outrageously wealthy Leopolds. Thankfully, the film breezes past that contrivance quickly. Displaying seasoned judgment in his directorial debut, Scharfman ensures that Death of a Unicorn honors its title immediately, with Elliots rental car making mincemeat of the poor pony before the opening title card. Not knowing what else to do, the Kintners pack the corpse away in the trunk and continue on to the Leopold estate. Unbeknownst to them, unicorns have remarkable healing properties. Whats more, they share something in common with fellow legendary creature Vin Diesel: theyre all about family. As both a love letter to practical effects and a proof-of-concept for badass unicorns, Death of a Unicorn works splendidly. These hand-crafted critters are properly imposing and quite likable, especially as they begin to sow bloody chaos in the Leopold estate. Scharfman and company also wisely opt not to reinvent the monster movie wheel, borrowing liberally from Spielberg to instill a sense of mythological menace. It looks like the shark fin fromJaws, Ortega previously told Den of Geek. That comparison proved to be apt. When it comes to the rest of the storytelling, however the film is less successful. Rudd and Ortegas utility to Death of a Unicorn largely begins and ends with them inking their names on the contract to attract a distributor. Elliot and Ridley are simply too generic for even these preternaturally charming, honest-to-goodness movie stars to liven up. The rest of the cast fares better with their more archetypical roles. Will Poulter further establishes himself as among the best in the biz at portraying haughty dipshits (see also: Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3). The mere sight of his characters stilted walking gait was enough to provoke generous laughter from a packed auditorium at the films SXSW premiere. Anthony Carrigan, Sunita Mani, and Steve Park also find creative purchase as the Leopold familys tormented domestic helpers.Even at a relatively brisk 104-minute runtime, Death of a Unicorn occasionally feels bogged down by ineffective pathos and by-the-numbers satire. Still, the film knows it has the goods with its violent unicorn premise and doesnt let it go to waste. In the end, its a horse with a horn and thats all it needs to be.Death of a Unicorn premiered at the SXSW Film Festival on March 8. It opens in theaters on March 28. • 15 Bathroom Details Experts Say Youre About to See EVERYWHERE
    www.housebeautiful.com
When youre planning the design of your bathroom, whether its an ensuite or a half-bath, you typically think about the big picture. Maybe you want it to feel spa-like, or super glamorous, or sleek and ultra clean. After you pin down the general vibe you desire, though, youve got to think about the details that make up the entire look. Enter: bathroom finishes.Bathroom finishes come into and fall out of fashion, just like trends around general interior aesthetics. Many designers consider the hardware the jewelry of a room: It adds that perfect little dazzle every outfiter, bathroomneeds. Sometimes chunky statement necklaces are in; other times, delicate yellow gold pieces are what everyone wants. The specific wood tones you bring in, the undertones of the stone slabs or tiles you liketheyre all influenced in part by the trend cycle, even if wed argue that some of them are actually timeless. To get to the bottom of whats trending in bathroom finishes now, we asked multiple experts to share what theyre expecting to see for 2025. Keep reading to find out what the bathroom experts predict will be most popular this year. For more beautiful bathroom inspiration:1Warm FinishesAime MazzengaYou can expect to see warm finishes this year. Champagne bronze, polished nickel, and brushed gold bring warm, rich, inviting colors and soft, tactile textures to your space. Delta Faucet embraced this trend this year by expanding its Champagne Bronze finish to two new bathroom collections (Ashlyn and Velum), showcasing a soft gold finish that pairs elegantly with traditional, transitional, and contemporary styles. The bathroom finish in these select styles will be available this spring.Seth Fritz of Delta Faucet Company2Mixed MetalsCourtesy of MoenChrome and brushed nickel have always been common choices for bathroom finishes, however warmer, more unique finishes like matte black and bronzed gold continue to grow in popularity. By mixing and matching both classic and new age finishes throughout a space, homeowners can create a more customized, striking aesthetic in the bathroom. For example, Moens new Cambium bathroom suite is available in a new mixed Polished/Brushed Nickel finish. This new finish promotes quiet luxury by mixing metals to highlight the subtle contrast between two sheens of the same hue. The outcome is an elegant, metallic finish that allows consumers to pair brushed or polished nickel complementary items in their bathroom design.Danielle DeBoe Harper of MoenAdvertisement - Continue Reading Below3More PatternAimee MazzengaIn 2025, I think were going to see a lot more pattern in bathrooms. No necessarily in tile, but wallpaper and textiles. Dressing up bathrooms with pattern helps them to feel less sterile and more like an extension of the rest of the home.Alexandra Kaehler of Alexandra Kaehler Design4Black HardwareGroheSoft black finishes, like graphite, are emerging as a more refined and subtle alternative to the boldness of traditional matte black. Graphite offers a sophisticated and gentler look, making it an ideal choice for those seeking a more understated yet elegant design. Graphites softer tones make the Grohe Essence Single-Handle bathroom faucet in Hard Graphite an excellent option. It offers the sleek appeal of black but with a warm twist that makes it versatile for a variety of interiors. As this trend gains traction, its becoming a popular choice for creating a timeless and luxurious atmosphere without the intensity of a pure matte black finish.Jean-Jacques LHenaff of LIXIL Global Design AmericasAdvertisement - Continue Reading Below5Richer, Darker Wood FinishesHugo Landa GarciaLighter wood tones have had their moment, but in 2025, bathroom design will embrace richer, deeper wood finishes. Expect to see walnut, dark-stained oak, and other warm, moody wood tones taking center stage in vanities, cabinetry, and accent details. This shift brings a sense of sophistication and depth, creating a contrast against classic stone and tile finishes. Paired with color-drenched walls or richly veined marble, these deeper wood tones add a layer of warmth and luxury.Christine Vroom of Christine Vroom Interiors6Bespoke DetailsJake DunderdaleRegal, textured wallcoverings and bespoke vanities are trending; clients are interested in having design and style in their homes that no one else has. Its no longer a keeping up with the neighbors goal but more so having something better or different than the neighbors mindset that weve been hearing.Kelly Collier-Clark of House of Clark Interiors Advertisement - Continue Reading Below7Honed FinishesAndrea CaloRight now, honed finishes are more popular because while it looks elevated, its a casual elegance instead of opulent elegance. Letting the materials be in in their truest form is very popular, and a honed tile looks like it was dug out of the earth and placed in your home.Tatum Madden of OHara Interiors8Matte MaterialsCourtesy of MoenWhile many still love the timeless shine of glossy finishes, incorporating more matte materials and textures can help deliver on a more bold focal point that redefines modern style. These finishes are also more durable as they dont show spotting or fingerprints as easily, making them a versatile option for families.Danielle DeBoe Harper of MoenAdvertisement - Continue Reading Below9Nature at First SightHouse of RohlTo elevate your decor, consider finishes that add both tactile and visual texture to your space. Living finishes, such as aged or unlacquered brass, bring warmth and vintage charm to the bathroom. Without a protective lacquer, these finishes naturally develop a patina over time based on environmental elements, adding character and a sense of history to the room. Timeless and versatile, they seamlessly blend with both modern and traditional design elements. Often found on accessories like mirrors, light fixtures, and cabinet hardware, these finishes on plumbing fixtures create a refined, distinctive, and lived-in look throughout the bathroom.Eveline Simard of House of Rohl10Balanced MaximalismHouse of RohlAs we move beyond minimalist aesthetics, a shift toward bold patterns, rich textures, and vibrant colors is taking over bathroom design. This trend celebrates dynamic, personalized spaces, where each element brings its own unique personality. Designers are skillfully balancing these components to craft environments that radiate individuality. Recently, maximalist bathrooms have embraced bold geometric faucets in eye-catching finishes, adding character and flair to the space. A great example of maximalism would be to mix our Acqui collection for Rohl in unlacquered brass to our new colored Seros tub from Victoria & Albert to show how beautifully and unique of a decor this trend allows.Eveline Simard of House of RohlAdvertisement - Continue Reading Below11Soft and SlowPhotographer: @lomillerphoto / Designer: Ashley @ashleymontgomerydesignCurrent design trends focus on creating a sense of holistic wellness in interiors, where the key is a harmonious softness that inspires us to slow down. 9to5mac.com
Apples new Mac Studio with M4 Max and M3 Ultra is officially now available. To coincide with its launch, Apple has updated a support document that reveals which macOS power mode the new Mac Studio supports, and which it doesnt. The answer is a bit surprising.Low Power Mode is available on Mac Studio, but High Power Mode is notReviews for the new Mac Studio have confirmed that it is the most powerful Mac Apple has ever made.Whether you choose the M4 Max or M3 Ultra configuration, youre getting a powerhouse. What if, however, you want to limit that power some?Apples updated support document on Power Modes reveals that the new Mac Studio offers Low Power Mode support (via MacRumors). Why would you want to use Low Power Mode? Because it does two things, per Apple:Reduces fan noise for tasks requiring silent environmentsand allows reduced power consumption if your Mac is always left onThese are both nice reasons to support a feature that otherwise might be assumed irrelevant to the Mac Studio.Curiously though, one feature the Mac Studio does not support is High Power Mode.Heres how Apple describes the feature:High Power Mode allows the fans to run at higher speeds. The additional cooling capacity may allow the system to deliver higher performance in very intensive workloads. When High Power Mode is enabled, you may hear additional fan noise. This seems like the perfect feature to bring to the Mac Studio, but curiously its not on the list of supported devices. You can use High Power Mode on various MacBook Pro models and even on the M4 Mac mini. But not the new Mac Studio.9to5Macs TakeMaybe Apple needs to do additional work to enable High Power Mode on its latest Mac, and it will arrive in a future software update.I hope thats the case, as its very peculiar that Apples most powerful Mac ever misses out on this key feature. Low Power Mode is nice, but High Power Mode feels perfectly tailored for the Mac Studio. What do you think of the Mac Studio supporting Low Power Mode but not High Power Mode?
