  • Nintendo Has Shipped Almost 400,000 Switch 2 Consoles to US and Canada Rumour
    gamingbolt.com
While Nintendo is getting ready to reveal more details about the Nintendo Switch 2, rumours have popped up that indicate that the company has already started shipping units of the console to North America. As caught by Reddit user Icy-ConcentrationC, a post on the Famiboards by user LiC indicates that almost 400,000 units of the Switch 2 have been shipped between Janaury 17 and January 22.Totalling up to around 383,000 units, the consoles seemingly have the USZ region code, which would indicate that they will be sold in the US and Canada. Peripherals are also being shipped, according to the rumour, including a charging grip with the product code BEE-A-ESSKA. For context, the original Switchs charging grip had the product code HAC-A-ESSKA.So, it finally happened. HVBG exported 383,000 units of the completed console set between January 17th and January 22nd, wrote LiC on Famiboards. They were all shipped to the US, and all were of the USZ (US/Canada) region code. 41,598 units of the charging grip were also shipped to the US, confirming that HGU0620 is the charging grip with a product code of BEE-A-ESSKA, which matches the Switch 1 charging grips HAC-A-ESSKA.For context, HVBG is a Vietnam-based manufacturers that is likely involved with assembling the Switch 2 out of the various parts it gets from other suppliers. These parts would include things like the display, buttons, and logic boards.LiC further wrote about HVBG getting a host of system parts that would likely be for the new console, including SoCs. As of December, the company reportedly got 1.2 million units of SoCs and screens. January saw even more shipments, numbering at 1.7 million. If these rumours are true, Nintendo is likely trying to avoid stock shortage for the Switch 2 as we get closer to its currently-unannounced launch date.Nintendo officially unveiled the Switch 2 back in January with a video. Since then, the video has hit new milestones in terms of how many people saw it. At the time of writing, the Nintendo of America YouTube pages version of the first-look trailer boasts 21 million views. The Switch 2 reveal gave us our first look at the consoles new design, which is going for more muted aesthetics than its predecessors. For example, rather than the JoyCons sporting bold colours, the iconic red and blue are instead used for accents around the edges and the analogue sticks. The console will also feature a larger display, as well as a new magnet-based attachment system for its JoyCon controllers. Speaking of which, the controllers also feature a mysterious new C button, the purpose of which is yet to be revealed. The dock for the Switch 2 has also gone through a redesign, featuring rounded corners along with a more low-profile design with more of the console being visible even when the dock is being used.More details about the Switch 2, including launch-period games, technical information, and a launch date are expected to be revealed during the Switch 2-specific Direct slated for April 2.

  • Control 2 Has Entered Full Production
    gamingbolt.com
Developer Remedy Entertainment has revealed that the sequel to Control is now in full production. In its annual report, Remedy has stated that development on Control 2 is now under full swing after having finished all the pre-production work on the title. As described by Remedys own report, a game being in full production means that it has already wrapped up with a number of parts of the development process, from the original mandate of the games development being started, all the way to getting ready for production after finishing a proof-of-concept. As part of full production, Remedy estimates a time frame of between 15 and 26 months, with a team size that can range from over 75 all the way up to 200.Along with Control 2, the company has also revealed that other titles like the Max Payne 1 & 2 remake, as well as co-op action game FBC: Firebreak also fall in the full production category.Remedy has also stated that the initial development budget for Control 2 totals up to around 50 million. The studio also wrote about its partnership with Annapurna Pictures, who is financing 50 percent of the development costs for Control 2. In return, Annapurna Pictures gets the rights to adapt Remedy games like Control and Alan Wake into movies and TV shows. This reveal comes a month after Remedys previous earnings report, when the company had said that Control 2 would be entering the full production stage soon. While Remedy hasnt given us too many details about Control 2 other than the fact that it will follow up on the events of the original Control, the game was seemingly teased in a DLC for Alan Wake 2. The DLC, titled The Lake House, featured protagonist Kiran Estevez getting transported to various locations from Control, including the Panopticon in the Oldest House, and even the Oceanview Hotel. The studio has previously described Control 2 as being an action RPG. While the original Control also had a few RPG-adjacent mechanics like crafting mods for your weapons, the fact that the studio is referring to Control 2 as an action RPG would indicate that these elements might be getting expanded to feature more in-depth systems.Alongside Control 2, the Control universe is also getting expanded thanks to spin-off FBC: Firebreak. Director Mike Kayatta has spoken about the choice for Remedy to make a multiplayer title, referring to the move as a chance for the studio to do something new.A lot of this is uncharted territory for us, said Kayatta back in January. We know we have a lot to learn to deliver on the potential we see, but theres a lot of passion and drive behind our push into this space.Remedy has stated that more details about FBC: Firebreak will be revealed at the Future Games Show taking place on March 20. The game is being developed for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The studio has also previously stated that FBC: Firebreak will be a mid-priced title, and that its system requirement wont be as extreme as Alan Wake 2.

  • Ted Lasso is coming back for season 4
    www.theverge.com
After a season 3 finale that left open plenty of possibilities for a return, its now confirmed: Ted Lasso is coming back. The Apple TV Plus sitcom is getting a fourth season, though it appears to be still fairly early in development. In an interview on the New Heights podcast, star Jason Sudeikis confirmed that season 4 is being written now, and that it will follow the eponymous coach as he leads a new womens soccer team. Aside from Sudeikis, theres no other word on what characters might be returning, although much of the creative team will be back, including writer (and Roy Kent actor) Brett Goldstein. As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to look before we leap, Sudeikis said in a statement. In season 4, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to leap before they look, discovering that wherever they land, its exactly where theyre meant to be.Ted Lasso remains one of the biggest hits for Apple TV Plus, so the return isnt too surprising. And the news comes as Apple is on a steady run of returning series, including the second seasons of both Silo and Severance, alongside the fourth season of Mythic Quest.

  • How to go back in time using Google Maps
    www.theverge.com
Theres a lot to explore in Google Maps, but you may not always know where to look. Its great if youre trying to drive through a crowded city or find out which local coffee shop has the best-rated bagels, but there are also other, lesser-known features worth investigating. These include historical imagery on Google Street View. Google Maps actually makes it easy to switch between different time periods. On either desktop or mobile, you can go back to when Googles Street View cars first started patrolling the streets in some areas, you can go back as far as 2007 and see how roads and places looked years ago.So whether you have a practical purpose or just want to take a nostalgia trip, heres how to go about it. These instructions apply to the latest versions of Google Maps for the web, Android, and iOS.Street View on desktopStreet View image dates appear as options at the bottom of the screen. Screenshot: GoogleIf youre using Google Maps in a desktop browser, you can get to Street View by clicking anywhere on the map where Street View is available (which is most roads and famous landmarks), then clicking the Street View panel at the bottom. (It will look like a small square photo with a curved arrow.)Alternatively, select a specific destination on the map, like a bar or park, to bring up its info panel then either click the same Street View panel at the bottom or click Street View & 360 in the photo gallery on the pop-up. Both methods get you to the same place. If historical Street View imagery is available (and it isnt everywhere), look for a See more dates link in the address box in the top left.Select this link to display a series of thumbnails along the bottom of the screen, labeled with all the available dates. Scroll right to see the oldest.Click any thumbnail to see the Street View pictures from that time. Click and drag on the pictures themselves to look around. You can still move around as normal by clicking on the arrows on the Street View images. If you navigate to a place where there isnt any older imagery, youll be taken back to the most recent photos. If you want to move around any faster, you can click inside the mini map (lower left) and then click again on a specific point to jump to that place. Areas with Street View coverage are marked in blue.Click See latest date (top left) to go back to the most recent images in the Street View database.Street View on mobileLeft: You can find the Street Views category in a places thumbnails. Right: Once you choose See more dates, you find past dates at the bottom of the screen. Screenshots: GoogleIf youre using Google Maps on Android or iOS, then again youve got two ways to jump to Street View: you can tap and hold on any spot on the map, and if Street View imagery is available for it, a Street View photo appears in the lower-left corner of the map. (You may also get the same photo in the bottom half of the screen, depending on how your version of Google Maps is set up.) Either way, tap on that to get to Street View. You can also tap on a labeled place name to bring up its info card, then choose Photos and Street View & 360 (if it appears) to get to Street View and start looking around. If imagery from other dates is available, you get a See more dates link at the bottom of the screen. Tap this to see the same selection of thumbnails as on the computer, labeled with the month and year. Tap any thumbnail to jump to it.Tap and drag on the screen to look around or tap on any of the onscreen arrows to navigate around the location youre in.As on the desktop, if you move to a place that doesnt have older photos, youll be taken back to the most recent imagery. You can also go back to the latest photos by tapping the left-most thumbnail in the date selection or by tapping the X in the top-left corner.Historical satellite imagery in Google EarthGoogle Earth gives you access to older satellite imagery. Image: GoogleYou can also explore historical satellite imagery using Google Earth. You can either use it on the web or get the apps for Android and iOS.In the web interface, click the Activate historical imagery button in the top toolbar. (It looks like a globe with an arrow around it.) You then get a timeline of available imagery for the region youre looking at: just click on a year to go back in time. You can also switch from Historial imagery to Timelapse using the button on the top left of the screen and choose how fast you want time to lapse. With the mobile apps, you tap the layers button (two squares, top right), then toggle on Historical imagery. A pop-up on the bottom of the screen will show you the same timeline as you get on desktop, and you can travel backward and forward in time by dragging your finger along the timeline. If you want to do a timelapse, look for the icon showing a round backward arrow at the top of the pop-up.Satellite imagery goes back as far as the 1970s in some parts of the world, but of course, as you go back through time, the image resolutions will get lower and lower, depending on the satellite technology available that year. www.ign.com
Update 3/14/25 10:22 a.m. ET: The stock situation for this controller appears to be pretty limited. It's currently available at PS Direct for everyone with an account, and at GameStop but for Pro members only (you can sign up here for $25/year). The bottom side of the controller has a The Last of Us logo in white on black. It looks very nice and classy overall, Id say.The Last of Us Limited Edition PS5 ControllerOn the PlayStation Blog, Naughty Dog Head of Studio and Head of Creative Neil Druckmann and Graphic Designer Megan Mehran said:We were excited by the chance to memorialize The Last of Us franchise in a controller that fans and our own team would love.
