Hebra Arquitectos, a Chilean architectural firm, has designed a house in southern Chile featuring native oak cladding and distinctively faceted roofs arranged in a V-shaped layout to maximize views of a nearby lake. This project was commissioned by a couple seeking a spacious holiday retreat to accommodate visits from their three adult daughters. Situated in Chiles Los Ros region, the house is perched on a sloped site overlooking Lake Ranco. A primary objective for the architectural studio was to ensure the home captures views of the lake to the south while also allowing sunlight to illuminate the northern facade.Designer: Hebra ArquitectectosTo achieve their design goals, the team created a house consisting of two square-plan volumes, each rotated 45 degrees about the other. The structure spans two levels and is crowned with faceted metal roofs. Earthy materials were selected for both the interior and exterior to harmonize the house with its natural surroundings.The public and private spaces have been segregated. One of the volumes features a double-height space that includes the kitchen, dining area, and living room. Tall glass panels above the kitchen allow northern sunlight to flood and enable cross ventilation. Upstairs, the communal area includes a media room and a telecommuting office, with a glazed interior wall that enhances the airy atmosphere of the public space. In search of a relationship with the site, native woods were used hualle oak for the exterior and interior cladding, and coige for the furniture doors in the common areas, said Hebra Arquitectos.The mezzanine is reached by a bridge that runs along one wall, adorned with a black metal railing. This wall also hosts a prefabricated metal shelving system designed to accommodate wine, books, and decorative items. The public area includes a spacious, south-facing terrace, offering occupants a chance to enjoy views of the picturesque landscape. The other volume houses the primary bedroom and three guest rooms, with the guest rooms designed to optimize sleeping space.They were designed with a double bed at the base and two beds above it, which cross from side to side, to allow flexibility in their use, the team said.Beyond the two main volumes, the house features a distinct architectural element a small protrusion on the northern side, which serves as the entry vestibule. This protrusion is intentionally designed with a curved form and is clad in black wood, creating a striking contrast with the primary structure of the house. That all changed with the iPhone 15 Pro, and every iPhone sincethe mute switch was replaced by something called the Action button.The idea is simple: Instead of a switch, you have a button you press and hold for a second (to avoid accidental presses in your pocket or bag) to mute or unmute your iPhone. But of course, being a button, its far more flexible than the mute switch. Just hop into your Settings menu to select a different function for your Action button.Here are all the things you can do with your Action button.Action button: Built-in optionsOpen Settings and tap on the Action button menu to change what it can do.FoundrySilent Mode: Its the mute switch, in button form! Just press and hold to toggle between mute and un-mute.Focus: Enable the focus mode of your choice. Thats exactly what Microsoft Power Automate can do, along with a host of other automated actions.Like its competitors IFTTT and Zapier, Power Automate allows business professionals of all stripes to create automated workflows involving a series of tasks across certain applications or services even those from different vendors that send notifications, ask for and offer approvals, and handle rote tasks automatically, with no coding required. The automation tool is part of what Microsoft calls its Power Platform, a suite of AI-enabled and AI-enhanced process automation tools.Power Automate taps into enterprise apps and services via components called connectors. Microsoft offers more than 1,000 prebuilt, certified connectors, and you can build custom connectors to other apps.While anyone with a Microsoft account can use Power Automate for free on a limited basis, business users will need a paid subscription to access key connectors and tools. There are actually three types of these cloud flows: automated, instant, and scheduled, which do about what you think theyd do.Desktop flows are like having someone sit at your computer, clicking and typing for you in desktop applications like Excel or specialized business software.Business process flows are more like having a guide that walks you through complex procedures step by step, ensuring nothing gets missed.Each type serves a different purpose, and youll likely use a combination of them as you become more comfortable with automation.Getting startedLet me walk you through setting up Power Automate for the first time. The process is straightforward, but there are a few important details to pay attention to.First, open your web browser and go to microsoft365.com. If youre not already signed in, use your work email and password. Youll know youre in the right place when you see the Microsoft 365 app launcher (a square icon with nine dots) in the top left corner.Click the app launcher; this opens a panel showing all your available Microsoft 365 apps. But Copilot isnt available to all Power Automate users, and its helpful for everyone to know how to build a flow from scratch; thatll make it easier to adjust and improve any AI-generated flows.So, lets start with something everyone needs: automatically organizing emails. Lets assume youre in charge of receiving applications for something at work maybe it is an internship, or perhaps youre running a scholarship program and you are managing the entries. Ill show you how to create a flow that stores files attached to emails in SharePoint and tracks them in a neat, centralized list. This is a perfect first flow because its both useful and teaches several important concepts.From the Power Automate home page, look for the button in the left navigation bar labeled Create and click it. (You can alternatively click My flows first, then look for the New flow button up top.)Youll see several options. Both of these items are under the Outlook When a new email arrives list in the pane that appears on the right, but they might not be immediately visible. The flow will report back to you onscreen and show you how long it took to process and what happened at each step.Note: you may receive errors about a duplicate filename. This relates to the fact were not trying to rename individual attachment names when we save them into SharePoint, so if you get a bunch of PDFs from different individuals all called application or something similar, Power Automate is telling you the names are duplicated and it isnt renaming them. This is fine for our purposes, since we are saving the attachments to individual list items, so well always know who theyre from regardless of the filename.Other errors may result from how your specific Microsoft 365 tenant is configured, but you can often find a workaround. For example, using the Body item in the Message Content field in this flow works fine in my tenant, but when my editor tested it in her tenant, the flow failed, flagging item/MessageContent as the source of the error. When she substituted Body Preview in that field, the flow ran flawlessly. So if you hit an error when you start building your own flows, its worth looking for a similar item you can substitute.Youll know the flow is working when you get green arrows at each step. You can also head over to your SharePoint list, and you should see your message added to the list. The email address of the sender will be in the first column, the message body in the second, and then when you click the individual item, youll see the attachments listed there just click on them to open them up.Viewing the final result of the automation in SharePoint.Jonathan Hassell / FoundryVoila! Youve just made your first flow and organized a bunch of stuff out of your inbox into a single place where you can share the load with co-workers.Adding AI power: Copilot and AI BuilderNow lets make things really interesting by adding artificial intelligence to your flows. This is where automation becomes truly powerful, handling tasks that traditionally required human review.In this example, lets ask Copilot to create a flow that automatically processes invoices using AI Builder, a Power Platform feature that creates AI models that automate your business processes. Whats cool about this example is that youre going to build it simply by describing what you want in natural language, and as part of the resulting flow, Power Automate will integrate AI Builder actions, which use generative AI to review and extract information from existing data and then do something with it.Note: Youll need an AI Builder credit allocation or a premium Power Automate license to work with this section.Create a new flow in Power Automate, and then click Describe it to design it. Youll get the following screen as a result:Type in natural language to have Copilot generate a workflow based on your prompt.Jonathan Hassell / FoundryNow, in the large box in the center of the screen, just describe the flow you want to create. Ill give you some language here, which you can either cut and paste yourself into the wizard, or you can change any part of it you like simply by customizing the prompt.Example: When a new invoice file is created in SharePoint, I want to use AI Builder to extract information from the invoices. Specifically, I want to extract the invoice number (highly recommended), date, total amount, vendor information, and line items (if needed). Once that information has been extracted, I want the information to be added to a list in SharePoint, with the AI-extracted fields mapped to list columns, and also including the processing date and status. I also want to send an email to accounting to notify them of the presence of the invoice, and that email should include extracted data in the email body, have the original invoice file attached, and should also have links to the SharePoint entry. The combination of renewable energy generation through solar energy capture and food production solutions, the concept offers an answer to two of the biggest environmental challenges of our time. However, so far, its all a bit awkward and slapdash. More of a compromise where no one side is really getting what it wants. Right now, its an engineering-first exercise, a land-use efficiency hack that sees solar panels thrown up over farmland with all the grace of a papier-mch pergola.For over a decade, the idea of agrivoltaics has been growing, spurred on by land competition and an increased demand for renewable energy. The sector is expected to grow by 10.1% annually, hitting $9.3 billion by 2031. This means agrivoltaics are no longer a niche experiment but an inevitable fixture of future landscapes. The concept is, in theory, brilliant. Instead of choosing between food and energy, why not have both? By placing photovoltaic (PV panels or solar panels to me and you) over crops. In doing so, we can generate power while protecting planting from excessive heat and water evaporation. Yet, despite the promising potential, most agrivoltaic projects are overlays, simply more stuff but in the same place. Its not very elegant and, most importantly, not as efficient as it could be.The result is a landscape of half-baked solutions: steel stilts awkwardly hoisting up rows of solar panels, shading crops with no real thought as to how those individual crops actually interact with their environment. Farmers are left dodging obstacles with their machinery, and rural communities are often less than thrilled at what is, effectively, an industrial invasion of the countryside. If architects dont intervene soon, agrivoltaics risks going the way of many suburban solar solutions. The spatial, structural and material thinking that can transform agrivoltaics from an engineering bolt-on into a truly considered solution within the built environment.Unsurprisingly, light is everything in agrivoltaics. It dictates crop health, water retention and energy efficiency. But current installations treat sunlight distribution as a basic principle. A bit of shade here, a bit of sun there. In reality, such a complex problem requires nuanced solutions, ones that architects have been focused on for centuries. Sun position, intensity and interaction with different materials over the course of a day, month and year are the lifeblood of any architect and this knowledge is invaluable when it comes to agrivoltaics.The Fraunhofer ISE Agrivoltaic Research Plant in Heggelbach, Germany is a good starting point. Here solar panels are elevated 16 feet (5 meters) above fields, spaced for maximum agricultural viability. The result? Potato, celery and wheat yields largely unaffected, while solar energy production remains high. Unfortunately, if the goal is to create a productive, resilient and visually coherent landscape, then simply elevating panels isnt enough. The design needs to go deeper.The first step is breaking away from the default solar farm on stilts model. In Japan, Next2Suns vertical agrivoltaic panels offer a smarter alternative: bifacial solar panels arranged upright in rows, functioning as both energy generators and windbreaks. Meanwhile, in France, the SunAgri 3 project has introduced dynamic shading. These PV panels that tilt throughout the day to optimize conditions for both crops and energy production. If agrivoltaics works in open farmland, why not integrate it into buildings? Urban agrivoltaics could mean photovoltaic faades designed as ventilated shading systems, rooftops that double as solar farms for hydroponic crops or semi-transparent PV panels forming the skin of vertical greenhouses. This is where agrivoltaics stops being a rural add-on and starts being an architectural tool that merges food security, energy efficiency and built form into a single system.Material innovation is also a key missing piece. In the Netherlands, agrivoltaic projects like those led by BayWa r.e. have experimented with semi-transparent glass-glass monocrystalline panels over berry crops. Solar integration doesnt have to mean blocking out the sun entirely. Theres room for smarter, more adaptable and better looking designs.This also reopens a fascinating architectural discussion: what does rural architecture look like in the future? For centuries, agricultural structures like barns, silos and greenhouses were built according to necessity, but also evolved into some of the most striking spatial typologies in architecture. Agrivoltaics has the same potential. They are considered another layer of infrastructure that has been imposed on agricultural land with little consideration for its surroundings. This is the same backlash that wind farms received, and it speaks to the failure of engineering-first solutions to engage with the landscape as a designed space.Agrivoltaic farms have the potential to be more than arrays of panels. They could be public spaces. Shaded community markets powered by the panels above, or agritourism projects that integrate education, food production and energy generation into a single landscape.Landscape architects have already transformed flood retention basins into public parks so why not apply the same thinking here? Right now, agrivoltaics is at a crossroads. It can remain a haphazard engineering solution that is functional but uninspired or it can evolve into something designed, intentional, and integrated. The technology is here. The research is progressing. While publisher Take-Two Interactive and developer Rockstar are gearing up for the Fall 2025 launch of Grand Theft Auto 6, it has been no secret that it is going to be one of the biggest launches in gaming. Head of PlayStation Creators at Sony, Greg Rice, has spoken about how GTA 6s release will bring in an economic boost to the industry.Speaking to GamesRadar during Game Developers Conference 2025, Rice spoke about how GTA 6 might even end up bringing in a new audience to gaming. While Rice admits that there might be some players that only play GTA 6, he also believes that others might discover other games in the medium, and in turn, help grow the industry.[GTA 6 is] going to be the best, awesome, giant game for the year, for sure, said Rice. I hear a lot of the opposite of devs, worried about it sucking all the space out. I dont want to launch during GTA week or even month, because thats all anyones gonna be playing.'But I think the industry is matured enough that theres space for that and for other things as well. Its gonna be a combination of there will be games that will be successful around GTA time because theyre totally different, but itll also bring a lot more people back into the ecosystem.Rice also talks about how the release of GTA 6 will be helpful for smaller games as well. While these smaller titles may not be able to directly compete with GTA 6 when it comes to sales, they will benefit from a new audience that has bought a console for the first time that might be looking for other games to play alongside GTA 6.Im sure theres lots of gamers that [GTA 6 will be] the only thing they play, Rice continued, saying that itll be the opportunity to get in on the new console generation and see what else is out there. So its definitely gonna be a big economic boost for the games industry, and will be a multiple billion dollar title, but I dont think that its at competition with [indie games].When it comes to bringing in a new audience, Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick has previously spoken about how he believes that console hardware sales will see a meaningful uptick thanks to the release of GTA 6.When you have a big title in the market and we have many of them coming, historically that has sold consoles, Zelnick said.And I think that will happen this year. I dont think tariffs are going to be our friend, but I think there will be a meaningful uptick in console sales in calendar 25 because of the release schedule, not just coming from us, but coming from others. So Im not concerned about that [console sales falling]. I think the trend that youd want to focus on is this increasing share of the market that is reflected in PC.Grand Theft Auto 6 is currently in development for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. There is currently no official word on a PC release. Some analysts also believe that the game might be priced at $100, either on its own or through bundling with GTA Online-related content. Others, on the other hand, believe that it might do Rockstar and Take-Two more harm than good to price the game that high.
