Rest assured, all imagery and advice is unique and original. Check out how we test and review games hereThe Last of Us Part 3 is a game fans are desperate to become reality. Naughty Dogs next official game is Intergalatic featuring a bounty hunter in space, and Neil Druckmann has been suggesting TLOU3 might not happen. However, in a complete contradiction to Druckmann, a reputable source has suggested the sequel is in development, and there are some The Last of Us Part 3 rumors that potentially spell bad news for fans of Ellie and Abby. The Last of Us Part 3 rumorsNeil Druckmann has previously suggested The Last of Us Part 3 might not happen, however, often-reliable insider, Daniel Richtman, claims otherwise.Recently, the insider has claimed that the sequel is in development at Naughty Dog. He said he knows for a fact that the studio has already cast actors for roles, and that certain scenes have been filmed. Now the insider has elaborated on the casting announcement by revealing details about several new characters in a post on Patreon.Per Comic Basics, Richtman claims the game features a new group of scavengers occupying a Victorian house on the edge of a ruined city. Similar to everyone else, they are struggling to survive, and the rumored new characters are as follows:Val She is the leader of the groupEzra He wants to usurp ValMason Former soldier, he must choose between protecting the house or staying loyal to EzraLucas Friendly at first, but shows a dark side after becoming closer to another scavengerGracie Young woman aged between 18-25Remember that all of this is just rumors and not anything official. Right now, the official word from Neil Druckmann is that The Last of Us Part 3 might never happen. If the rumor is accurate, then it could possibly be worrying news for fans of Ellie and Abby. This new group of survivors could potentially be the threat either Ellie or Abby has to thwart, or they could be the main focus of the game while Ellie and Abby take more of a backseat. While the future of Abby is up in the air, it would seem almost guaranteed that Ellie would at least play a pivotal role in The Last of Us Part 3 as she is a fan-favorite and has been the main character. Then again, Joel was a fan-favorite and the main character of part 1, and we all know what happened to him.In other The Last of Us news, Naughty Dog revealed their original plans for the ending of Part 2.Related TopicsThe Last of Us Part III Subscribe to our newsletters!By subscribing, you agree to our Privacy Policy and may receive occasional deal communications; you can unsubscribe anytime.Share

  • Beneath This Shingle-Clad Nantucket Home, a Hidden Playground Awaits
    www.architecturaldigest.com
Upstairs, the layout follows a strict but intuitive logic. The clients private spacesincluding their bedroom, library, and officesare in one volume, Kline explains. A beautiful spiral staircase stitches those spaces together, leading from their seasonal closet down to their private spa. Meanwhile, guest quarters and entertaining spaces are carefully separated, ensuring privacy without sacrificing connectivity.Given the homeowners deep appreciation for art, the interiors were designed as a gallery for living. If youre going to live with art, how do you shape the finishes and materials to complement itnot compete? asks Kline. The answer was a restrained palette of white oak, light marbles, and wire-brushed finishes that create texture without overwhelming the artwork. The central stairwell, in particular, was imagined as a gallery wall, Weissberg explains. The client loves large-scale pieces, so we designed the architecture around them. The spas custom stonework was designed to be both luxurious and highly intentional, with intricate patterns and tailored layouts enhancing the serene atmosphere. The whole spa has a custom floor layout. We picked multiple stones and had them custom cut and fit together, says Weissberg. The steam shower in the primary suites spa-like retreat is designed for both function and tranquility. All the light in the space is all natural light, even though were underground, says Weissberg. Positioned near a light well, the space feels bright and open, enhancing the sense of relaxation.Interior designer Nicole Ficano, who led the furnishings and material selections, embraced the art-forward concept by prioritizing timeless, understated pieces. A lot of the furniture was focused on quiet elegance, she says. Nothing too flashy, nothing over the topiconic pieces that stand the test of time, with beauty in their form and shape. The palette reflects this restraint. We chose a lot of materials that were very light in palette, complemented with soft blues, Ficano says. We wanted to create a quiet space that allowed you to appreciate the landscaping and the beauty of nature, without distracting from the sense of place. The media room was designed as a flexible, inviting space, with a custom U-shaped sofa and modular leather ottomans for maximum comfort. The arrangement of the Usona Home ottomans in the center of the room reflects the configuration of the Bone Simple Design lights above, says Ficano. The challenge was choosing different types of white and having them all work together, says Ficano. White can lean cool, warm, or yellow, so we were incredibly intentional with the materiality, focusing on natural fibers and luxurious textures. We had stacks and stacks of white linens to sift through. The clients eye for detail extends beyond architecture and interiorsright down to the towels and pool cues, each subtly branded with a custom house logo by Workshop/APD. Its an extra layer of design, says Kline. And it makes the home feel even more personal. The end result is a home that feels completely custom to the clients, but remains deeply connected to its surroundings. Looking at it from the street, youd never guess how much is happening below, says Weissberg. And thats exactly the point.

How would you describe your home?Alive. I feel like theres so many different colors. Different rooms have different vibes. Is there a kitchen item that you use every single day?I do use the Felt and Fat mugs every single day, and the espresso machine. The egg pan as well.Do you have a favorite gadget that you use every day?Other than my Kindle, which is the most low-tech, basic analog situation ever, but I love it so much. Our coffee maker is a Breville Oracle espresso machine. It has a touch screen, so Im not actually pulling the shots. Listen, do I know how to do that? Not really. So I dont want to pretend like Im becoming a barista when Im not. It makes amazing coffee. Its super high-tech. Both Sue and I wake up every day likeit is time again with this beautiful gift.Do you have a strict bedtime ritual?Im trying to. Ive been really on my bedtime bullshitmuch to Sues chagrinbecause Im just dominating the bedtime. I like to turn in at a pretty early hour. If Im in bed between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., thats ideal. I want to be asleep by 11 p.m. I try to read, thats where my Kindle comes in major. I have dimmer lights on everything, and I like to turn the lights down and set the mood and just chill out. Our bedroom is really calm. What is your ideal bedding setup?Honestly, I need to get a new mattress here in New York. Tempur-Pedic mattresses are just the all-time best, pillows as well. And I like all-white bedding. It might be my thousands of hotel stays over the course of my whole life and career, but I find it to be very calming, clean, and easy.Do you have a favorite room in your house and why?The powder room is the fucking bees knees. I love it. Its just so bright, that orange wallpaper. But probably our bedroom, which is a monochrome light mint with all of these different textures. I love being in there. It has a big mirror, and it is beautiful.Rapinoe in the dining area of her New York City home, where a piece of art by Xavier Kelley hangs on the wall.Photo: Liz Clayman

  • Cyberpunk 2077 gets the mod you never knew you needed: a service that'll text you random cat and dog facts midway through emotional chats with Keanu Reeves

MeowsaggesCyberpunk 2077 gets the mod you never knew you needed: a service that'll text you random cat and dog facts midway through emotional chats with Keanu ReevesFrom the modder who previously brought a hotdog motorbike with cheeseburger wheels to Night City.Image credit: CD Projekt/Deceptious News by Mark Warren Senior Staff Writer Published on March 19, 2025 Ok, so Cyberpunk 2077 players have a bit of a thing for cats. They like hanging out with moggies in their futuristic flats thanks to Deceptious' Apartment Cats series of mods, and you might think that'd be enough. It ain't, though. There can never be enough cat stuff in Cyberpunk, because as you well know, cats are great. Enter a new mod that injects a bunch more cattiness - and also doginess - into CD Projekt's RPG via a text service that sounds like it can interrupt your adventure at any time to tell you random pet pub quiz trivia, provided you set it up to do so.To see this content please enable targeting cookies. It's modder MisterChedda's 'CatFacts' and it does exactly what it says on the tin, plus a bit more. I'd expect nothing less from a modder who previously added a motorbike made from a massive hotdog and two cheeseburgers to Cyberpunk.Basically, it's an automated service on V's in-game phone that'll cut through the endless string of texts from fixers and other actual game-related stuff to bring you random facts about cats as often as you set them to arrive by tweaking the mod's settings.Picture the scene. You're doing something unimportant like having a deep chat with Johnny Silverhand or breaking into Arasaka Tower, all guns blazing. Bloomp. You get a little message from a new contact called 'Catfacts' telling you something like: "A group of cats is called a clowder." Then, you get on with playing and the message auto-deletes so it doesn't clog up your inbox. Everyone wins.If you're wondering where the facts come from, the answer is a free online API (application programming interface) called Catfact.ninja, which the mod calls on to retrieve a random cat fact via another Cyberpunk mod called 'RedHttpClient'. If you don't like cats, you can also tweak CatFacts' settings so that it'll serve you dog facts instead, via another free API called, well, DogAPI. In DogAPI's case, the API's site states that the bits of info you'll get are sourced from "a collection of dog facts that have been submitted by members of the public".MisterChedda's also made the source code of their mod public via GitHub, in case you want to verify for yourself that it's not making any other requests/calls aside from the ones to these two APIs.Did you know that the first cat show was in 1871 at the Crystal Palace in London, organised by artist Harrison Weir? • Researchers name several countries as potential Paragon spyware customers
    techcrunch.com
The governments of Australia, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Israel, and Singapore are likely customers of Israeli spyware maker Paragon Solutions, according to a new technical report by a renowned digital security lab.On Wednesday, The Citizen Lab, a group of academics and security researchers housed at the University of Toronto that has investigated the spyware industry for more than a decade, published a report about the Israeli-founded surveillance startup, identifying the six governments as suspected Paragon deployments. At the end of January, WhatsApp notified around 90 users that the company believed were targeted with Paragon spyware, prompting a scandal in Italy, where some of the targets live.Paragon has long tried to distinguish itself from competitors, such as NSO Group whose spyware has been abused in several countries by claiming to be a more responsible spyware vendor. In 2021, an unnamed senior Paragon executive told Forbes that authoritarian or non-democratic regimes would never be its customers. In response to the scandal prompted by the WhatsApp notifications in January, and in what was perhaps an attempt to bolster its claims about being a responsible spyware vendor, Paragons executive chairman John Fleming told TechCrunch that the company licenses its technology to a select group of global democracies principally, the United States and its allies.Israeli news outlets reported in late 2024 that U.S. venture capital AE Industrial Partners had acquired Paragon for at least $500 million upfront. An example of the attack flow for the Graphite spyware.Image Credits:Citizen LabIn the report out Wednesday, Citizen Lab said it was able to map the server infrastructure used by Paragon for its spyware tool, which the vendor codenamed Graphite, based on a tip from a collaborator. Starting from that tip, and after developing several fingerprints capable of identifying associated Paragon servers and digital certificates, Citizen Labs researchers found several IP addresses hosted at local telecom companies. Citizen Lab said it believes these are servers belonging to Paragon customers, in part based on the initials of the certificates, which seem to match the names of the countries the servers are located in.According to Citizen Lab, one of the fingerprints developed by its researchers led to a digital certificate registered to Graphite, in what appears to be a significant operational mistake by the spyware maker.Strong circumstantial evidence supports a link between Paragon and the infrastructure we mapped out, Citizen Lab wrote in the report. The infrastructure we found is linked to webpages entitled Paragon returned by IP addresses in Israel (where Paragon is based), as well as a TLS certificate containing the organization name Graphite, the report said.Citizen Lab noted that its researchers identified several other codenames, indicating other potential governmental customers of Paragon. Among the suspected customer countries, Citizen Lab singled out Canadas Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), which specifically appears to be a Paragon customer given that one of the IP addresses for the suspected Canadian customer is linked directly to the OPP.Contact UsDo you have more information about Paragon, and this spyware campaign? From a non-work device, you can contact Lorenzo Franceschi-Bicchierai securely on Signal at +1 917 257 1382, or via Telegram and Keybase @lorenzofb, or email. You also can contact TechCrunch via SecureDrop.TechCrunch reached out to spokespeople for the following governments: Australia, Canada,Cyprus, Denmark, Israel, and Singapore. TechCrunch also contacted the Ontario Provincial Police. None of the representatives responded to our requests for comment. When reached by TechCrunch, Paragons Fleming said that Citizen Lab reached out to the company and provided a very limited amount of information, some of which appears to be inaccurate.Fleming added: Given the limited nature of the information provided, we are unable to offer a comment at this time. Fleming did not respond when TechCrunch asked what was inaccurate about Citizen Labs report, nor responded to questions about whether the countries identified by Citizen Lab are Paragon customers, or the status of its relationship with its Italian customers.Citizen Lab noted that all the people that were notified by WhatsApp, who then reached out to the organization to have their phones analyzed, used an Android phone. This allowed the researchers to identify a forensic artifact left by Paragons spyware, which the researchers called BIGPRETZEL.Meta spokesperson Zade Alsawah told TechCrunch in a statement that the company can confirm that we believe that the indicator Citizen Lab refers to as BIGPRETZEL is associated with Paragon.Weve seen first-hand how commercial spyware can be weaponized to target journalists and civil society, and these companies must be held accountable, read Metas statement. Our security team is constantly working to stay ahead of threats, and we will continue working to protect peoples ability to communicate privately.Given that Android phones do not always preserve certain device logs, Citizen Lab noted that its likely more people were targeted by the Graphite spyware, even if there was no evidence of Paragons spyware on their phones. And for the people who were identified as victims, its not clear if they were targeted on previous occasions.Citizen Lab also noted that Paragons Graphite spyware targets and compromises specific apps on the phone without needing any interaction from the target rather than compromising the wider operating system and the devices data. In the case of Beppe Caccia, one of the victims in Italy, who works for an NGO that helps migrants, Citizen Lab found evidence that the spyware infected two other apps on his Android device, without naming the apps.Targeting specific apps as opposed to the devices operating system, Citizen Lab noted, may make it harder for forensic investigators to find evidence of a hack, but may give the app makers more visibility into spyware operations.Paragons spyware is trickier to spot than competitors like [NSO Groups] Pegasus, but, at the end of the day, there is no perfect spyware attack, Bill Marczak, a senior researcher at Citizen Lab, told TechCrunch. Maybe the clues are in different places than were used to, but with collaboration and information sharing, even the toughest cases unravel.Citizen Lab also said it analyzed the iPhone of David Yambio, who works closely with Caccia and others at his NGO. Yambio received a notification from Apple about his phone being targeted by mercenary spyware, but the researchers couldnt find evidence that he was targeted with Paragons spyware.Apple did not respond to a request for comment.

  • Bertram-Jewett-Hale House // 1842
    buildingsofnewengland.com
This lovely brick house on Winter Street in Salemwas constructed for Capt. John Bertram in 1842-3.John Bertram (1795-1882)as a boy had his first job as a cabin boy and would work his way up to become a commander, ship owner and investor. He was extensively involved in shipping around the world including to Zanzibar, South America, and California and later he invested in railroads and real estate. He retired from actively commanding boats at age thirty-six with a vast fortune which he would become a philanthropist, giving much of it to charitable causes and his home city of Salem.Captain Bertramcontinued to own this property until 1855, when he moved to hisnew house on Essex Street, which he later gifted to theCity of Salem as its public library. By the time of his death in 1882, he donated funds to the Salem Hospital, Old Mens Home, Home for Aged Women, and various colleges and scholarships. Bertram sold this Winter Street house toJohn Jewettin 1855 for $10,000. Jewett began his career as a cabinet maker in Beverly in 1817 and subsequently became a dealer in mahogany, fancy woods, furniture and grain. Jewett died in 1874 and the property was sold by his heirs toHenry Appleton Halein 1890. Engaged in the hardware business, Hale also served as president of the Salem Gas Light Company and as a vice president of the Salem Five Cents Savings Bank. Mr. Hale also served the country during the Civil War, and was shot in the face at Antietam on September 17, 1862. The bullet knocked out his front teeth and sliced off a piece of his tongue. Despite the severity of his wound, he recovered and returned to the regiment months later, and mustered out in 1865 following another injury. Henry A. Hale died in 1927. The property is significant not only for its owners, but also for its architectural quality and integrity. The transitional Federal-Greek Revival house features a recessed entry with original leaded sidelight and transom windows, brownstone trimmings, and alterations (likely by Hale) from the second half of the 19thcentury, including the projecting bay and arched window in the gable.

  • Deepmind founder warns of compounding AI agent errors
    www.computerweekly.com
It may be take up to 10 years for a lot of the capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI) come to the fore, according to the founder and CEO of DeepMind, Demis Hassabis.Speaking at an event to mark the availability of audio generation model Chirp 3 on the Google Vertex AI platform, Hassabis said that within that time, AI will have evolved to artificial general intelligence, whereby the AI system exhibits the cognitive capabilities of humans. Thatll be a moment when we have finally arrived with a kind of general intelligence, which is the original aim of the whole field of AI, he added. The Chirp 3 audio generation model is generally available in 31 languages, offering 248 distinct voices with eight speaker options. According to Google, Chirp 3 on Vertex AI delivers detailed speech functionality that captures the nuances of human intonation, making conversations more engaging and immersive. It can be applied to voice annotation, real-time meeting transcription, audiobooks, and sentiment collection from customer calls.Google Cloud also announced that it is expanding its UK data residency commitment to include Google Agentspace, with availability coming in the second quarter of 2025. Agentspace provides AI agents that combine Geminis reasoning withGoogle Search and enterprise data, regardless of where the data is hosted.Google Cloud said Agentspace includes a single, company-branded, multimodal search agent that employees can use to answer complex questions and take specific actions based on an organisations proprietary information, including unstructured data such as documents and information stored in third-party applications. It also includes a feature called NotebookLM Enterprise, which Google Cloud said can help employees quickly synthesise large quantities of information to uncover new insights.Looking at how AI is evolving in the short to medium term, Hassabis said: Weve been improving our thinking portion for the models, so inference time, compute is going to be a big thing this year as the systems become more agent-like. This involves the AI agents spending more time thinking and planning before they act.Analyst firm Forrester regards agentic AI as AI systems that can plan, decide and act autonomously, orchestrating complex workflows with minimal human intervention. In a blog post, Forrester analysts said agentic AI systems are not only poised to become the backbone of the knowledge economy, but they will completely redefine how organisations operate and compete.Hassabis said the effects of agent-based AI are beginning to be felt. Theyre not just passive question-answering systems, but they can break down a problem into sub goals and then choose those goals.DeepMind has previously used this type of problem-solving in game play, such as with AlphaGo, the AI that beat Go world champion Lee Sedol in 2016. However, Hassabis said: Games are very limited and theyre quite easy. The rules are prescribed information, so theyre relatively easy setups compared to the real [world].The challenge for DeepMind and other AI developers is how quickly they can generalise AI systems to exhibit behaviours required for planning and reasoning that work reliably in the real world. While Hassabis said there has been good progress in AI world models over the past few years, the challenge is how best to combine these with planning algorithms. As an example of why this is very difficult, Hassabis said: If your AI model has a 1% error rate and you plan over 5,000 steps, that 1% compounds like compound interest.By the time the 5,000 steps have been worked through, the compounded error, according to Hassabis, means the possibility of the answer being correct is random. For a games model, you have the rules of Chess or Go, he said, which aids the planning algorithm in making the correct decision. In the real world, you dont have perfect information. Theres hidden information that we dont know about, so we need AI models that are able to understand the world around us.For Hassabis, one of the interesting developments expected to appear over the next few years is the deployment of multiple AI agents that work together to solve a problem.Weve done a lot of work with things like StarCraft II [the real-time strategy game], and in the past, where you have a society of agents or a league of agents, they could be competing or cooperating, he said.If agents can help people complete tasks, Hassabis believes it makes sense to have a whole set of them with complementary skills. How those agents should cooperate or compete with each other is a very interesting branch of research, he added.Read more stories about agentic AIZoom advances AI Companion with agentic AI: Zooms AI Companion improvements include automated tasks, better action item detection and real-time note taking. The new features will be launched in stages through mid-2025.How organisations can secure AI agents: Dan Karpati, Check Point Softwares vice-president of AI, discusses the unique challenges and potential ways to secure AI agents. He anticipates that such multi-agent AI systems will start becoming useful in the next couple of years. Youve got this notion of a general agent, something like Gemini, but then it can call specialised agents for mathematics or programming, for example, he says.Even though these are AI systems themselves, Hassabis said AI agents could be among the tools that a general AI system uses to solve problems. An early example of how bringing different types of AI techniques together can be seen in the AI Co-scientist tool released a couple of weeks ago. This, according to Hassabis, is a hybrid system with Gemini under the hood, but it also uses specialised AI systems to look up scientific papers and try to make connections between different pieces of research.Co-scientist is designed to mirror the reasoning process underpinning the scientific method and, according to Google, is intended to uncover new, original knowledge, and to formulate demonstrably novel research hypotheses and proposals, building on prior evidence and tailored to specific research objectives.
