• Rivian x iKamper Skycamp Mini is all-season, two-person hardtop RTT for all your camping needs
    www.yankodesign.com
It is difficult to keep iKamper out of the news these days. After surprising us with the Skycamp DLX, a four-person rooftop tent in black hardshell body with an inflatable mattress, and cork flooring; the engineering shop in South Korea has now teamed up with American electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian to create a smaller, thoughtfully designed, two-person tent that youre going to love for its simplicity more than anything else.Designed compatible with the Rivian R1T and the R1S models, the Rivian x iKamper Skycamp Mini is a nice blend of materials, fit, and performance that even non-Rivian users wouldnt mind topping their EV with. Beyond the aesthetic component, what really sways the momentum in Skycamp Minis favor is its handmade material construct and the all-season comfort inside.Designer: iKamperWhen iKamper is involved, you can expect two things: a hardshell body in back finishes for a rugged appearance and to hide scratches, and a lightweight approach, to ensure the ultimate electrified camping experience without pulling back the vehicles range. The Rivian x iKamper Skycamp Mini sticks to the basics and extends out of its hardshell to create a tent made from breathable PFAS-free polycotton canvas with a removable fly and huge windows for airflow and views. The RTT is really effortless to set up. If you believe the company, it only takes a minute for the entire thing to set up and be ready to host you. The tent has a sleek, aerodynamic design. It is lightweight measuring only 137 lbs (61.8 kg) and can be installed on a short-bed truck or a cab (the Skycamp Mini will fit on nearly any vehicle). Owing to its skimmed weight and aerodynamic hard shell, it has been tested to not hinder the range, which is pretty interesting, given that you can sleep in it around the year. So just mount it up once and forget about it.And when youre ready to hit the road: whether youre going out on remote trails or a leisure weekend, the durable and sturdy tent will make a great getaway. For stability assurance, the Skycamp Mini secures with locking mounting brackets that are compatible with Rivians Adventure Key Set (sold separately). The tent comes with an integrated telescoping ladder (that hides inside when packed) to make climbing in and out easy for all types of campers. The inside is plush with an iKampers deluxe self-inflating mattress. Its half-foam and half-air construction ensures better heat retention and a comfortable nights sleep for up to two persons. Rivian x iKamper Skycamp Mini is now available for preorder starting at $4,595. If youre interested, it is a good time to invest. iKamper is providing a complementary outdoor cooking stove with the preordered units. The post Rivian x iKamper Skycamp Mini is all-season, two-person hardtop RTT for all your camping needs first appeared on Yanko Design.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo originally published his prediction in September of 2024, believing that the iPhone 17 expected in fall 2025 will use an improved 3nm chip dubbed the A19.He added at the time that the next-generation 2nm chips would be ready in time for only the high-end iPhone 18 Pro release, which should come in the fall of 2026. • Robbie Walker's Sawmill Treehouse blends into the trees through its raised and compact form
    archinect.com
Australian designer Robbie Walker has designed an elevated, steel cabin, inspired by trees, in Australias Victorian High Country.Image: Earl CarterCalled Sawmill Treehouse, the structure is the result of the clients desire for a small dwelling for family and friends. The project site lies at the beginning of a gully where street water was discharged, with one apparent flat area in the space, surrounded by tall trees. As a result, Walker decided to situate the building up amongst the trees and out of the water.Image: Earl CarterSawmill Treehouse was built with non-flammable corten steel and lined with Tasmanian Oak timber. The structures design was inspired by the trees. Its four stilt-like columns represent tree trunks, while its faade of slatted steel panels capture light more randomly and organically than a flat panel, like the leaves on trees.Image: Earl CarterThese slats function to help the building breathe and stay cool during the summer by providing shade. • Hue accidentally leaks a new video doorbell
    www.theverge.com
The video doorbell would join others in Hues lineup, like this indoor / outdoor camera. An update to the Philips Hue app this week appears to have leaked a new Hue Secure video doorbell, reports Hueblog. The unannounced product shows up in a section offering instructions for adding devices that you have no QR code for. From the screenshots below, taken in the iOS Hue app by my colleague Jennifer Pattison Tuohy, the Hue Secure doorbell is a straightforward video doorbell tall, rectangular, and with what looks like a large button inside of an LED circle. As of this writing, the app still shows it on my phone. I could only get so far in the instructions before hitting a wall, but there are details to glean. That includes that it might be a wired device, thanks to mentions of low-voltage errors and a need to physically install the camera before setup. It also uses both Bluetooth for setup, at least and Wi-Fi.Hueblog writes that the camera isnt expected to launch until this fall, so it could be a while before pricing or camera specs are available. The best way to set your expectations is probably to look at Hues other Secure cameras, such as the floodlight and indoor / outdoor options launched in 2023. They each offer 1080p video, two-way talk, and end-to-end encryption of recordings, as well as smart alerts for people, pets, and vehicles. They also dont support HomeKit Secure Video, and I wouldnt expect that to change with this device.

  • Mojang Won't Use Generative AI, Minecraft Is 'About Creativity and Creating'
    www.ign.com
Minecraft developer Mojang has no intention of incorporating generative artificial intelligence into its game development process. The ever-increasing creep of generative AI into game development makes itself evident by the day, whether its Activision admitting to using generative AI art in Call of Duty: Black Op 6, or Microsoft building Muse, an AI designed to "generate game ideas."PlayBut, by the sound of it, Mojang has no plans of taking advantage of its parent companys new technology, much preferring the human touch that resulted in Minecraft becoming the biggest-selling game of all time with an incredible 300 million sales. Here for us, just like Minecraft is about creativity and creating, stated Minecraft Vanilla game director Agnes Larsson during a recent event attended by IGN, I think it's important that it makes us feel happy to create as humans. That's a purpose, [it] makes life look beautiful. So for us, we really want it to be our teams that make our games.Ingela Garneij, executive producer of Minecraft Vanilla, expanded on this sentiment: For me, it's the thinking outside of the box part. This specific touch of: what is Minecraft? How does it look? That extra quality is really tricky to create through AI. We even try to have remote teams sometimes and guide them in building things for us, which has never worked, because you have to be here working together face-to-face."I mean creativity is... you need to meet like this as a person, as a human to really truly understand the values and principles and the ecosystem, the lore, everything. It's so massive Minecraft, it's a planet, it's massive."The humans making Minecraft continue to build on its record-breaking foundations. The newly revealed graphics update, titled Vibrant Visuals, is due out in the near future, and Mojang continues to refuse to make Minecraft free-to-play. This philosophy of improving and expanding the original game also goes hand-in-hand with Mojang's desire to not make a Minecraft 2." It may be 16 years old now, but theres truly no sign of Minecraft slowing down, and no sign of generative AI finding its way into the Nether.Check out everything announced at Minecraft Live 2025 for more on what's coming to the game.Simon Cardy is a Senior Editorial Producer who can mainly be found skulking around open world games, indulging in Korean cinema, or despairing at the state of Tottenham Hotspur and the New York Jets. • Minecraft Won't Go Free-to-Play: 'It's the Best Deal in the World'
    www.ign.com
In an age when many live service games of its kind have pivoted to a free-to-play business model, Minecraft stubbornly remains a premium experience. During a recent interview with IGN, developer Mojang said it's determined to stick with the established "buy and own the game" approach, even now, 16 years after it came out. In short: don't expect Minecraft to go free-to-play any time soon.Yeah, it doesn't really work with the way we built it," explained Ingela Garneij, executive producer of Minecraft Vanilla.I mean we built the game for a different purpose. So monetization doesn't work in that way for us. It's a purchase of the game and then that's it. For us it's important that our game is available for as many people as possible. And so I think that's a very core value that it should be accessible for everyone. It's the best deal in the world.PlayAs the industry has evolved over the years, many games have made the jump to free-to-download but infested with battle pass and cosmetic pack waters, with mixed results. Examples include Overwatch 2s decision to go free-to-play, Destiny 2, or Minecrafts Microsoft stablemate Halo Infinite (at least when it comes to its multiplayer). The pressure is of course on video game publishers and developers to find new ways to monetize to survive, but this is seemingly a pressure not felt by Garneij and her Mojang teammates: No, no. What's important for us is that many people can enjoy it still and that's going on strong still. Its a sentiment expanded upon by Minecraft Vanillas game director, Agnes Larsson: I mean for me, its part of the important values of Minecraft. I think it's become such an important thing of what Minecraft is and the perfect culture and values, and I think we all here can agree on that. It's a thing for the game and it's one part of what makes the game strong. It has strong values.Minecraft Vibrant Visuals Comparison ScreenshotsMinecraft will continue to evolve without asking its players to spend money for new features, then. This is exemplified by the upcoming Vibrant Visuals graphics overhaul, which arrives free of charge in the coming months. And with no plans for a Minecraft 2 on the horizon, therell be no need to purchase the best-selling game of all time again any time soon. Unless you want to play it on another one of the seemingly endless amount of devices it finds itself on these days, of course.Check out everything announced at Minecraft Live 2025 for more on what's coming to the game.Simon Cardy is a Senior Editorial Producer who can mainly be found skulking around open world games, indulging in Korean cinema, or despairing at the state of Tottenham Hotspur and the New York Jets. • Charlie Javice trial becomes a master class in hubris for both sides
    techcrunch.com
In BriefPosted:1:49 PM PDT March 22, 2025Image Credits:Michael Nagle/Bloomberg / Getty ImagesCharlie Javice trial becomes a master class in hubris for both sidesCharlie Javices high-profile fraud trial has become a showcase of embarrassing missteps on both sides, with eyebrow-raising details about how JPMorgan Chase was allegedly deceived into buying her startup, Frank, for $175 million when it had just 300,000 customers instead of four million.Per a new WSJ article, one pivotal moment came when former Frank engineer Patrick Vovor testified that he refused Javices request to create fake user data just one week before the sale, recalling she said to him: Dont worry. I dont want to end up in an orange jumpsuit. When Vovor declined, Javice allegedly turned to a math professor to generate synthetic user data, which was then submitted to JPMorgan. (In court, Javices legal team painted Vovor as a scorned suitor.)In addition to JPMorgans failure to properly vet Franks user base, other uncomfortable details have been surfaced, including that Leslie Wims Morris, who led the deal at JPMorgan, reportedly sent a note to her team, underlining segments from CEO Jamie Dimons annual letter to investors in 2021 and adding that sometimes theres no need to do analysis at all.Javices attorneys said in court that its evidence JPMorgan didnt think it needed to check its work, but Morris testified that it was tongue-in-cheek and written as a joke to my team.Topics
