• The best Amazon Spring Sale deals on kitchen tech and gear from Breville, KitchenAid, Ninja and more
    www.engadget.com
The Amazon Big Spring Sale isnt as far-reaching or as deeply discounted as, say, the companys (two) Prime Day sales, but it does last longer. Prime sales are usually just a couple days long. This one spans seven whole days. The deals officially end on Monday, March 31 but as of now, there are still plenty of deals to be found particularly on goods for your home. While Engadget doesnt test sheets and pillows, we do put our review skills to work on one popular home category: kitchen tech. Weve spent years reviewing the best cooking gadgets out there (and happily enjoying the results). In this guide, we cross referenced Amazon's latest sale with the cooking gear we actually recommend. Anyone in the market for a discount on a sous vide machine, coffee kettle or air fryer, should give this list a read. The best Amazon Spring Sale deals on air fryers, Instant Pots and more Breville Juice Fountain Plus for $140 ($40 off): The powerful Juice Fountain impressed us with its extraction abilities. Plus its relatively easy to clean (as long as you do it right after you juice). It takes up a good amount of space, but can extract an impressive amount of juice from even the driest-seeming carrot. This price isnt as low as the $110 Amazon sold it for back in January, but this is the lowest price weve tracked since then. Anova Culinary Sous Vide Precision Cooker Nano for $100 ($50 off): This is the machine that led our editor to dub these machines the Millennial crockpot. She uses this one a few times a week to make unfussy meals that keep her alive. The Nano model is a slightly smaller and less expensive version of the top pick in our buyers guide. This is about $10 more than the all-time low, but is the cheapest weve seen Amazon sell it for over the past couple of months. Cosori 9-in-1 air frier for $90 ($30 off): Cosoris fryer earned a spot as the runner up for best overall air fryer in our guide. It has nine preset cooking modes and a six-quart capacity. We like that it doesnt take up too much space, but can still cook up a decent amount of food Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro for $320 ($80 off): If you want a more traditional toaster oven design with a huge capacity, go for our premium air fryer pick. The fryer-and-oven combo can accommodate a five-quart dutch oven, so its almost an auxiliary oven, which could come in handy when youre cooking for a crowd. This isn't an all-time low it went for $300 at the end of last year. Breville the Smart Oven Air Fryer for $280 ($70 off): This is the non-Pro version of the Breville air fryer we recommend. It has a slightly smaller capacity (0.8 cubic feet instead of one cubic foot) and is missing two cooking functions (dehydrate and proof). But if youre not making your own jerky or baking a ton of bread, this one can toast, broil, air fry and slow cook. You can even get it in cool colors like Red Velvet Cake for the same price. Ninja DZ401 Foodi 10-quart air fryer for $190 ($40 off): If you need to air fry two different foods at once, go for our recommendation for a dual-zone air fryer. Its a beast, so we think its best for larger kitchens and people who make big meals. It went as low as $130 for Black Friday last year, but this is the cheapest price weve seen since then. Instant Vortex 2QT Mini Air Fryer for $50 ($10 off): The budget pick in our guide doesnt go on sale often its already pretty cheap at its $60 list price. Its sold for as little as $48 for Prime Day in July, but this is the cheapest weve seen since then. Its two-quart capacity is probably best for small kitchens and can crisp up food for one or two people. Instant Pot Duo Plus 9-in-1 Electric Pressure Cooker for $90 $40 off): We like this Instant Pot model because it's simple to use and has several quick-cooking modes including beans, cake, sous vide and more. It went as low as $70 earlier this year, but this is still a 30 percent discount off the list price. Instant Pot Pro Plus 9-in-1 Electric Pressure Cooker for $134 ($66 off): We also suggest this fancier Pro Plus model in our guide to kitchen tech. Its a Wi-Fi connected unit with a canning function and you can even release the steam remotely using the companion app which has over 800 recipes. This isn't an all-time low it was $125 earlier this week and dipped as low as $99 for Black Friday last year. Ninja AF150AMZ Air Fryer for $120 (25 percent off): This went as low as $100 for the holidays last year, but this matches the lowest price weve seen since then. The fryer gets an honorable mention in our air fryer guide because it makes good use of limited counter space with its taller design. The round cooking basket doesnt feel as roomy as square ones but it does have a dehydrate option that other cookers dont come with. Anova Culinary Sous Vide 3.0 for $129 ($70 off): We named this the best overall sous vide machine after testing a number of models for our buyers guide. This is about $30 more than the low it hit for the holidays last year, but this is the lowest price weve seen in 2025. We appreciate the easy digital controls and found that the high flow rate maintains water temperature better than other machines. Plus, if youre at a loss for what to cook, you can check out the companion app which is replete with recipes. Fellow Stagg EKG Pro electric kettle for $165 ($30 off): This exquisitely designed kettle has an LCD panel built into the base so you can choose a specific temperature down to the degree. And the hold feature keeps water hot for up to an hour. This is the pro model of the version we recommend in our tea guide. KitchenAid Artisan 5-quart stand mixer for $380 ($80 off): Small wonder that the home cooks gold standard of mixers made its way onto our kitchen tech guide. Its ton of available attachments can be used to make pasta, grind food, strain or spiralize fruits and veggies and more. This is no unitasker. This is a solid $80 discount off of the MSRP, but well note that Amazon sold it for as low as $330 at the end of last year and for $350 last month. KitchenAid Go Cordless Hand Blender for $100 ($30 off): The big selling point here is the removable battery that you can use for other KitchenAid Go appliances. In our testing, it had enough power to turn a roasted butternut squash into a smooth, creamy soup. The blender has hit this price a few times over the past few months and the deal isnt as good as the $77 it sold for at the end of last year. • Robinhood is getting into banking, and its luxury perks include cash delivered to your doorstep
    www.fastcompany.com
Trading platformRobinhood, best known for introducing a new generation of traders to the stock market, crypto, and ETFs, is growing up alongside its customers, moving one step closer to becoming a full financial-service company, along the likes of Fidelity or Charles Schwab. On Wednesday, the digital brokerage announced plans to launch Robinhood Banking this fall, a one-stop service that provides traditional checking and savings accounts with luxury benefits, as well as Robinhood Strategies, a wealth-management product.Customers will need a Gold subscription ($5 a month or $50 a year) to open those individual and joint checking accounts, which will allow users to send money across the world in more than 100 currencies, and even get cash delivered directly to you (more on that later).Robinhoods new financial products will include new tools for wealth-management, AI-powered investment advice, access to tax advisors, estate planning, and instant transfers between Robinhood accounts and FDIC-partner institutions for up to $2.5 million. Robinhood said the idea is to give members access to financial services, such as private wealth management and private banking, which were once thought out of reach for many. But perhaps the most unique perk offered is that customers will be able to have same-day deliveries of cash to their door, likely as a way to continue to capture younger investors with their smartphones. (Robinhoods median customer age is now 35, up from 31 five years ago.) Cash deliveries would work similarly to, say, DoorDashbut serving up cash instead of food.Other unconventional perks for new banking customers reportedly include discounted helicopter rides. Our goal is for Robinhood to give you a world-class financial team in your pocket, with cutting-edge tools you cant find elsewhere, Vlad Tenev, Robinhoods chairman, said in a statement. Also in the statement, Robinhood said that it would charge Gold members 0.25% annually on managed individual and retirement accounts up to $100,000, with a yearly cap of $250, which means free management on every dollar over $100k and an effective management fee of 0.1% for portfolios with $250,000 or 0.05% for those with $500,000.Unlike Robinhood Banking, Robinhood Strategies is already available to all Robinhood Gold members, and will begin rolling out to all customers in April, according to the companys statement.

  • Elon Musk privately pressured Reddit CEO Steve Huffman on content moderation: report
    www.fastcompany.com
X owner Elon Musk was privately messaging with Reddit CEO Steve Huffman while also putting public pressure on the social media companys content moderation efforts, The Verge reported Thursday. Two months ago, several Reddit subreddits started to block links to X in protest of Musk appearing to give the Nazi salute. Musk called the efforts insane, while a Reddit spokesperson at the time clarified that Reddit itself wasnt imposing a ban on the links. A few days later, Musk claimed that Reddit users who were calling for violence against members of his Department of Government Efficiency were breaking the law.Musk has been a vocal critic of content moderation on social platformsparticularly since buying Twitter, now X, in 2022to where hes rolled back many trust and safety policies. At the same time, unironically, hes been known to restrict links to other platforms on X.And this certainly isnt the first time Musk has gone after criticsjournalists, users, even employees. Last month, Musk reportedly fired a Tesla manager who criticized Musk for a social media post that used the names of Nazis as wordplay. The Verge reported that shortly after Musk and Huffman talked, Reddit enacted its 72-hour ban on the r/WhitePeopleTwitter subreddit, saying it was due to a prevalence of violent content. Reddit also fully banned a subreddit called r/IsElonDeadYet for breaking rules against posting violent content. The r/WhitePeopleTwitter subreddit, which has more than three million followers, is mostly made up of users screenshotting posts from Bluesky and X. The r/IsElonDeadYet page consisted of a daily post asking whether he was, in fact, dead or not, according to an archived version of the site in December.Reddit moderators learned that the two leaders had spoken, according to The Verge, and discussed it. In response to a user who said Musk is allowed to call out death threats, another reportedly said: Oh, I dont have any problem with removing rule-breaking content (and taking the respective admin action on said accounts), but I find it a bit problematic that hes able to exert influence on both public and private institutions.Reddit has had ongoing tension with moderators and power usersespecially after a policy change requiring some third-party developers to pay much more for its application programming interface led to widespread protests in mid-2023. The company, which went public last year, has struggled to maintain balance between changes from its leadership team and its hundreds of millions of monthly global users.

  • Researchers claim their protocol can create truly random numbers on a current quantum computer
    www.csoonline.com
A team that included researchers at a US bank says it has created a protocol that can generate certified truly random numbers, opening the possibility that current generation quantum computers can be used for secure applications in finance, cryptography, cybersecurity, and privacy. However, an industry analyst is cautious. The JPMorgan teams findings are interesting, but wont be applicable in the near term for most CSOs, unless they are responsible for high security environments, said Sandy Carielli, a principal analyst at Forrester Research.Quantum random number generation has been around for a while, she pointed out, and some CSOs may already be using products in that area. The certification could be a nice extra for highly regulated environments.

  • SSD upgrades for M4 Pro Mac mini are inching closer
    appleinsider.com
Following multiple vendors offering internal SSD updates for the M4 Mac mini, one has now revealed that it has prototyped a model for the M4 Pro version.Prototype of an M4 Pro Mac mini SSD upgrade image credit: iBoff RCCExternally, the M4 Mac mini and the M4 Pro Mac mini are identical, but internally they require different SSDs. They do have a lot in common, though, including that Apple charges vastly more for SSD storage than any other vendor.Consequently, it was very soon after launch of the Mac mini that the first third-party upgrades began to appear. Unusually, if Apple doesn't encourage upgrades, it at least hasn't made this one impossible, and so many firms have now released SSD upgrades that can be fitted into an M4 Mac mini.
