• Google Geminis best AI tricks finally land on Microsoft Copilot
    www.digitaltrends.com
Table of ContentsTable of ContentsDeep ResearchPodcastsMicrosofts Copilot had a rather splashy AI upgrade fest at the companys recent event. Microsoft made a total of nine product announcements, which include the agentic trick called Actions, Memory, Vision, Pages, Shopping, and Copilot Search.A healthy few have already appeared on rival AI products such as Googles Gemini and OpenAIs ChatGPT, alongside much smaller players like Perplexity and browser-maker Opera. However, two products that have found some vocal fan-following with Gemini and ChatGPT have finally landed on the Copilot platform.Recommended VideosMicrosoft / Digital TrendsEveryone is big on Deep Research these days. Gemini has it. ChatGPT does it, too. Even Perplexity built one. It was surprising to see why the vanilla Copilot experience has been lacking such a meaningful tool, despite Microsoft being one of OpenAIs closest partners and investors. Well, that finally changes. Deep Research is now part of the Copilot bundle. The idea is pretty self-explanatory. If you are looking for a comprehensive, well-drafted, and in-depth report instead of vague chatbot answers Deep Research is where you go. This is what a Deep Research report looks like: The type of research work you can turn into podcasts. Nadeem Sarwar / Digital TrendsIt looks up reliable sources, compiles information in the form of a research document (complete with all the cited sources), and saves you hours upon hours of tedious manual research. Ive loved its implementation on Gemini, and Im glad Copilot is finally getting one.Copilot can find, analyze and combine information from online sources or large amounts of documents and images, says Microsoft. You dont even need a Microsoft account to launch a Deep Research query, and a Copilot Pro subscription is not mandatory.Microsoft will give you five free Deep Research queries each month, while subscribers will get an unlimited number of attempts and priority access. Late in March, the Microsoft 365 Copilot platform got access to an AI Researcher tool that can pull off something similar by analyzing online sources as well as local files.Microsoft / Digital TrendsAI podcasts first made a splash with Googles NotebookLM product, and barely a few weeks ago, it finally made an appearance on Gemini. I gave it a try and found it to be a pretty impressive tool that can turn even boring information into an intriguing immersive listening experience.Google refers to these AI podcasts as audio overviews, but Microsoft is simply referring to them as podcasts. The overarching idea is similar, but Microsoft is offering a couple of extra perks. You cant interact with podcasts created by Google Gemini, but Copilot will let you intervene and resume. While listening, you can continue to talk and interact with Copilot to learn more and keep the conversations going, says the company.A cool aspect is that Copilot can turn offline resources you upload, as well as the websites you suggest, into podcasts. Another feature that ties into the theme is Copilot Search, which is essentially Google Search AI mode, but for Microsofts Bing engine. Editors Recommendations

  • Go back to the Grid in TRON: Ares trailer

worlds will collide Go back to the Grid in TRON: Ares trailer It's more of a standalone reboot rather than a direct sequel to 2010's TRON: Legacy. It's difficult to underestimate the massive influence that Disney's 1982 cult science fiction film, TRON, had on both the film industrythanks to combining live action with what were then groundbreaking visual effects, rife with computer-generated imageryand on nerd culture at large. Over the ensuing decades there has been one sequel, an animated TV series, a comic book miniseries, video games, and theme park attractions, all modeled on director Steve Lisberg's original fictional world. Now we're getting a third installment in the film franchise: TRON: Ares, directed by Joachim Rnning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil), that serves as a standalone sequel to 2010's TRON: Legacy. Disney just released the first trailer and poster art, and while the footage is short on plot, it's got the show-stopping visuals we've come to expect from all things TRON.(Spoilers for ending of TRON: Legacy below.)TRON: Legacy ended with Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) from the original film, preventing the digital world from bleeding into the real world, as planned by the Grid's malevolent ruling program, Clu. He brought with him Quorra (Olivia Wilde), a naturally occurring isomorphic algorithm targeted for extinction by Clu. Jared Leto stars as the human form of Ares, a sophisticated computer program sent into the real world. Walt Disney Studios Eve Kim (Greta Lee) runs as digital and real worlds collide Walt Disney Studios Disney greenlit a third film in the franchise in October 2010, intended to pick up where Legacy left off and follow the adventures of Sam and Quorra as Sam took full control of his father's company, ENCOM. But by 2015, the studio had cancelled the project, allegedly the result of the dismal box office showing of Tomorrowland. By 2020, the project had been revived and reimagined as a standalone reboot rather than a Legacy sequel, although the main AI, Ares, did appear in earlier (pre-reboot) versions of the script. One pandemic and a couple of Hollywood strikes later, and the finished film is finally set to hit theaters this fall. The official premise is quite succinct: "TRON: Ares follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankinds first encounter with A.I. beings." Jared Leto stars as Ares, with Evan Peters and Greta Lee playing Julian Dillinger and Eve Kim, respectively. The cast also includes Jodie Turner-Smith, Cameron Monaghan, Sarah Desjardins, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo Castro, and Gillian Anderson in as-yet-undisclosed roles. Bridges is returning as Kevin Flynn. Nine Inch Nails composed the soundtrack.TRON: Ares hits theaters on October 10, 2025. • My unique name has been butchered my whole life. I used to let it slide, now I correct people.
    www.businessinsider.com
After years of near silence, I now refuse to let people butcher my name just because it's 'too hard' for them to say. Courtesy of Nishtha Chaudhary. 2025-04-05T17:24:01Z SaveSaved Read in app This story is available exclusively to Business Insider subscribers. Become an Insider and start reading now.Have an account? My grandfather gave me a unique name that now carries much meaning for me.My name has been mispronounced and shortened since childhood and I didn't always correct people. Now, when introducing myself, I make sure people have my name right. My grandfather named me Nishtha, a Sanskrit word that means loyalty and commitment. It's not a name you're likely to hear in passing. Even in India, it's not very popular. The only time I hear it is when leaders take an oath to serve the nation 'with nishtha' (unwavering loyalty). That rarity always made me feel special, like my name carried a quiet kind of power. But it also meant a lifetime of hesitation before introductions, of watching my name be reshaped, mispronounced, and whittled down until it was unrecognizable. The first of many mispronunciationsThe first time I heard my name pronounced wrong, I was too young to know I could push back.It was my first day at a new school. I was a shy, anxious kid, gripping the edge of my desk, counting the seconds until I'd have to introduce myself. But the teacher skipped right past that opportunity, straight to roll call. And then she paused."Nis Nees Nista How do you say this?" She asked, her eyes narrowing in confusion.I could feel the other kids looking at me. "It's Nishtha," I said quietly. "'Ni, like the first sound in nickel, sh like the soft but clear sound in shoe, and tha, with a sharp burst of air."She tried again, still wrong, then shrugged and moved on. She didn't even bother to keep trying to get it right. Almost every teacher did the same. Some asked if they were saying it right. Some didn't. And after a while, I just stopped correcting them.I moved around a lot, seven schools, four cities over ten years, so I heard every possible version of my name. In one place, I became Nishka. In another, Nishitha. Sometimes kids called me Nashtha, which means breakfast in Hindi, and laughed as if it was the most original thing they'd ever come up with. Each mispronunciation chipped away at me, but I told myself it didn't matter. Until it did.Moving abroad brought a new level of erasureWhen I moved to Ireland for my master's, my name wasn't just mispronounced, it was erased.People called me Nish, Niz, or whatever was easiest for them. At first, I corrected them. I smiled, repeated it slowly, and gave them a chance. I knew how hard some names were to pronounce. Irish names were tricky for me too, but I always asked for clarification, and I kept asking until I got them right it was important to meSome people made the effort, and it felt like a small victory. But most didn't.I then started introducing myself with a version I knew they could say. Nisha was simple enough, so I used it at work. When ordering takeout, I became Nessa, because I was tired of repeating myself over the phone. It was easier that way, right? Less awkward pauses, fewer forced smiles. One time, at a party, I introduced myself as Nesta. It was a character's name from a book I was obsessed with at the time. If I was going to change my name for their convenience, I figured I might as well pick one I actually liked. But every time I did that, I felt like I was making myself smaller."I'll just call you N"During one holiday season, I was working a retail job when a colleague turned to me and said, "I'm terrible with names, so I'll just call you N. The store is busy, and it's quicker for me that way."It wasn't a question. She didn't stumble over my name. She didn't try and fail. She just decided it was too much effort and cut it down to a single letter. Like my name, my identity, who I was it all just took up too much space for her.I should've corrected her. I should've said something. Instead, I let it happen. That night, lying in bed replaying the moment, I felt angry. Not just at her. At myself. Why did I let people shrink my name? Why did I make myself smaller for their convenience? My name is meaningfulWhat's in a name? More than you think. My name is my history. It carries the weight of generations. It's my grandfather's gift to me. It's my roots. It's not too long. Not too hard. Not yours to cut down, twist, or erase. If I can show you respect by learning your name, you can do the same for me.It's just three syllables. Not Nish. Not N. Nishtha. And now I will correct you until you get it right.Recommended video

  • Marvel Rivals is Getting New Heroes Every Month
    gizmodo.com
Change is coming toMarvel Rivalsbeyond adding Emma Frost and Ultron to the roster. NetEase Games is making a significant shakeup to the games post-launch rollout by changing its seasonal schedule, and by extension the rate new heroes join the game. After the upcoming Season 2, future seasons will be two months long, and each month will bring in a new playable character. According to director Guangyun Chen, this new structure fulfills the fundamental dream to integrate even more exciting Marvel heroes intoMarvel Rivals. Chen also teased future game modes that would further help fulfill everyones fantasies about Marvel superheroes. A new hero per month is a wild promise, even as NetEase has previously indicated its got plenty of characters ready for rollout. For comparison, Rivalshas a slightly shorter seasonal schedule than Overwatch 2(its most direct competitor), which has nine-week seasons and typically introduces a new hero or map (or both). By the end of 2025,Rivalscould end up with nearly 50 heroes to its name, which Marvels not too worried about. In March, Marvel Games Danny Koo told GamesRadar the developers just throw everything at [the sky], and fun chaos is the key, and the growing roster gives players more options. There are alot of characters who could join Marvel Rivals, and comics fans would love nothing more than for literally everyone to make the cut. The Chacarita neighborhood in the City of Buenos Aires, of medium-low scale, is where the project unfolds. The lot is located in the middle of the block, with only two houses on it, no tall buildings in the block, many gardens, and guaranteed air, sky, and greenery.Save this picture!Access is through a patio, originally covered and with an awning, but one of the first tasks was to dismantle it. The house is developed over three levels, maintaining the scale and slabs of the original structure, on a lot that measures almost 9.00 x 8.00 m.Save this picture!Structurally, few but fundamental decisions were made to materialize the spatial premises required by the project: to incorporate the exterior into each new space, visually extending each area to the limits of the lot, not to its enclosure; to expose the original structure of the vaulted slabs, even with the scars of the old load-bearing walls; to place the social program on the upper floor, generating a patio and a new terrace, this time an extensive green one, over the pre-existing one.Save this picture!Save this picture!Only a single gray profile column of 160 and three IPN of 160 were the only elements that replaced the heavy 30 cm walls that supported the load of the existing slabs. The walls were replaced by PVC and double-glazed windows, all from floor to ceiling, incorporating the surfaces of the two original galleries into the interior of the house.Save this picture! In the ground floor bedroom and living room, large sliding windows were designed to blur the interior-exterior boundary and allow for integrated use.
