Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 review: A sleek bargain for wearable beginners

The company put a hold on fitness bands back in 2022, and expanded to the smart ring format last year. But as the price of Galaxy Watches has kept climbing, making them inaccessible to a large chunk of health-conscious people, the company is again returning to its affordable roots.Recommended VideosThe latest from Samsung is the Galaxy Fit 3, a fitness band that looks more like a sleek smartwatch. Its beautiful, feature-loaded, and heavy on compromises that you would otherwise expect from a smartwatch all for just $60 a pop.RelatedIt serves its own set of functional highs and inexplicable lows. If you are someone who is averse to the idea of spending hundreds of dollars on a wearable, but are enticed by the idea of an affordable fitness tracker that doesnt look like a kids toy, read on to discover whether the Galaxy Fit 3 deserves a spot on your bucket list.Nadeem Sarwar / Digital TrendsThe Galaxy Fit 3 is a beautiful piece of wearable hardware. It is lightweight, but built well. The aluminum casing gives it a premium on-wrist feel, but other elements of the device dont feel cheap, either. The clasp mechanism is pretty secure, and the silicone band also feels high quality. It is thinner than an average smartwatch, but with the right analog watch face, it actually looks a lot more understated and in a good way compared to bulky smartwatches with their tacky watch faces and unwieldy on-hand presence. You almost dont feel it on your wrist, which is a major win. I have a hard time trying to ignore the bulk on my wrist every time I am wearing a regular smartwatch from Samsung or Apple.Nadeem Sarwar / Digital TrendsThe Samsung fitness band not only looks better, but its lightweight profile makes it far easier to sleep with. The build is 5ATM and IP68-rated, which means it is dust-tight and can survive immersion in water at a depth of up to 1.5 meters for a maximum duration of 30 minutes.Samsung offers the Galaxy Fit 3 in three colors, while the bands are available in a wide range of shades, but no other material choice apart from soft-feel rubber. A few third-party brands, however, sell compatible bands in different styles and even material choices, including leather, via Amazon and other e-commerce sites. The AMOLED display is a key highlight of the Galaxy Fit 3. Even though the bezels are not symmetrical, that display is surprisingly sharp and quite bright. You will never feel the need to crank it beyond the 70% level even under broad daylight.Nadeem Sarwar / Digital TrendsIn case youre interested in the specifications, the panel measures four centimeters diagonally, offers a resolution of 256 x 402 pixels, and can produce 16 million colors. Plus, theres also a light sensor that does an acceptable job of automatic brightness adjustment based on ambient lighting.Theres an always-on display feature available, and you can also tweak the screen-on time numbers. For added flexibility, you can activate the tap-to-wake feature, and theres also an option to turn on the screen as soon as you raise your wrist. All these features work flawlessly.Running the show on the software side is the open-source RTOS platform with a Samsung skin on top, while the modest internals are rounded off by 16MB of RAM and 256 MB of onboard storage. Yes, you read that right.Nadeem Sarwar / Digital TrendsThat also explains why the Galaxy Fit 3 keeps sending you to the connected smartphone for even the most basic customization and control tasks. But to Samsungs credit, all touch interactions feel fluid, and Ive barely ever run into any stutters or lags on the affordable fitness band. There is a pretty diverse variety of watch faces available in the companion app, and you can create your custom faces, too. You cant, however, download any third-party watch faces. Unfortunately, the connectivity situation is also pretty barebones here.Nadeem Sarwar / Digital TrendsTheres no cellular version on offer, and neither is there GPS or NFC functionality. Talking about the sensor stack, the Galaxy Fit 3 comes equipped with an accelerometer, barometer, gyroscope, and an optical heart rate sensor.Heres the worst part. This is an Android-only fitness band, which means it simply wont work with an iPhone. And on top of that, some of the features, such as remote camera shutter and snore detection, are exclusive to Samsungs Galaxy smartphones.Nadeem Sarwar / Digital TrendsThe Galaxy Fit 3 can best be described as a glorified fitness tracker, one that has a larger-than-average screen, but limited software versatility. It isnt the full Wear OS experience, which means there are no apps to install. Whatever little you get is via the Samsung Wear app, which also ties into the Samsung Health app.The user interface is pretty clean, and there is barely any learning curve here past the initial setup. Theres a single home button on the side, which can be customized to a double-press gesture, as well. For the rest, you essentially rely on swipe gestures.A vertical downward swipe from the top edge pulls the control center, a swipe from the left or right edge opens the notifications area and the quick access activity tiles. A swipe-up gesture from the bottom edge opens the home menu.Nadeem Sarwar / Digital TrendsThe Health dashboard is where you access your daily activity, sleep, workout, and launch measurement for heart rate tracking, blood oxygen saturation, and even stress level. The latter is an enigma, because it somehow always shows me in a high-stress situation, even when I am having a good time chilling or reading comics. This Health page also acts as a daily journal, where you log details such as food and water, or track the cycles. You can edit the items appearing in the dashboard, but it can only be done in the companion app. This is a recurring theme for a variety of other tasks, where you need to offload an ongoing activity to the connected smartphone.Nadeem Sarwar / Digital TrendsTheres no keyboard or a system-wide search tool on offer here. Neither is there any voice dictation facility available. You can handle calls, but cant answer due to the lack of an onboard mic or speaker. Moreover, for message notifications, you can pick from a pre-loaded response template, but cant craft your own reply. For some reason, Samsung put a calculator app on the Galaxy Fit 3, but didnt give it access to the Contacts on the connected phone. It would have been convenient if the Watch allowed users to at least place a call via the connected phone or send SMS texts.Nadeem Sarwar / Digital TrendsI have grown quite fond of the Find My Phone feature on the Samsung fitness band. Enabling it plays a loud audio cue on the paired phone, alongside vibration and on-screen visual alert. I often misplace my gadgets, and for my forgetful ways, this feature is nothing short of a godsend. The Galaxy Fit 3 offers support for over 100 workout activities, and automatic recognition for a healthy few, such as swimming, rowing, and elliptical. The latter facility must, however, be enabled manually from within the companion app.Theres also an emergency SOS feature that can be activated by pressing the home button five times in quick succession. Doing so initiates an emergency call from the connected phone, and also shares your location and an SOS message with the designated emergency contacts.Nadeem Sarwar / Digital TrendsTied to it is a customizable fall detection system, which uses the onboard sensors to assess if users have had one such event. For such scenarios, users will be prompted to dial the emergency services and also choose to show their medical details on the screen. For the latter, users must save details such as their name, medical conditions, blood types, allergies, medication, health notes, and address, among others, into the mobile app firsthand. You need to follow a similar on-phone routine for setting up app notification behavior or creating custom watch faces.Nadeem Sarwar / Digital TrendsThere is both good and bad news here. The Galaxy Fit 3 is fairly accurate, in a slightly ambitious way. Compared to the chest-strapped Polar H9, the heart rate activity readings were always on the higher side, with a mean deviation of roughly 0.5 to 2 percent.Across a workout lasting for roughly 15 minutes, where the heart rate variation was roughly in the 85-185 bpm range, the Galaxy Fit was consistently off the mark. When averaged, the mean deviation was low, but it often registered random spikes worth 5-20 bpm despite no apparent increase in the workout intensity.Shifting over to more basic workouts, like a brisk morning walk, the Galaxy Fit 3 performed well. When compared against a Xiaomi fitness band, the distance disparity between the trackers was 1.64 vs 1.62 miles and 1,897 steps vs 1,790 steps.Nadeem Sarwar / Digital TrendsWhen compared against an Apple Watch Series 8, the Galaxy Watch Fit 3 fared well. However, I noticed that it sporadically counted ghost steps, turning an actual 2.4-mile run (measured via GPS) into a 2.8-mile journey.Once again, the bigger difference arises when measuring the heart rate activity in the higher intensity phases. Where Apples smartwatch measured the average heart rate at 120 bpm, the Galaxy Fit 3 put it at 116 bpm. On the Samsung wearables screen, you can also take a peek at other metrics such as speed, calorie burnout, and HR zones. If running is your sole workout format, and you arent bothered too much about minute aspects such as stride length or ground contact duration, the Galaxy Fit 3 should serve just fine. But if youre looking for more insights, like energy readiness or recovery progress, you must spend more on a full-fledged smartwatch.Nadeem Sarwar / Digital TrendsSamsung claims the Galaxy Fit 3 can automatically recognize workouts, but once again, its not a fully reliable situation. On a few occasions, it simply didnt recognize me walking and only started recording the step after I had walked for nearly half a mile. Its worth pointing out that this watch lacks GPS, which means you miss out on perks like route planning or navigation. For that, you need to carry a phone with the companion app installed. Once again, I was not too bothered by it, since I run the same path every day, and I am more concerned with heart rate data and calorie burn figures. You can port all the health data collected by Samsung wearable to Androids unified Health Connect platform. Morever, the data can also be synced with third-party health platforms such as Strava.Sleep tracking is decent, for the most partNadeem Sarwar / Digital TrendsSleep logging is a tad inaccurate. Over a period of seven weeks, I noticed that the readings were roughly off by 10-12% for the net shut-eye time recorded between the Galaxy Fit 3 and the Apple Watch Series 8.On a few occasions, it drew a blank on the REM sleep, while the Apple smartwatch recorded anywhere between 60-90 minutes. But in general, it wasnt too off the mark. On my most recent sleep trip, the net sleep time logged by the Galaxy wearable was 5 hours and 45 minutes, while Apple Watch Series 8 recorded 5 hours and 17 minutes. The sleep stage breakdown was also pretty much in line with what the Apple Watch Series 8 offered. What I did notice, however, was that the Fit 3s accuracy gradually increased over time, though there are some functional frustrations. For example, you need to open the mobile app to see details of your sleep activity, even for the basic parameters. Thankfully, the mobile app offers plenty of meaningful insights into your sleep activity. It rates your sleep score graded across four levels viz. Needs Attention, Fair, Good, and Excellent. It offers a standalone breakdown of whether the sleep session offered enough physical recovery, restfulness, and mental recoveryNadeem Sarwar / Digital TrendsThe Galaxy Fit 3 also keeps an eye on the blood oxygen level during sleep, and keeps a log of instances where it may have dipped under the 90% saturation level. Theres also a snore detection feature, which records audio files via your phones mic.It works as advertised, but its somewhat embarrassing to hear your raucous snoring in the sleep logs. However, I wish that the wearable could also log breathing and heart rates, and put them in the daily sleep measurement journal.Nadeem Sarwar / Digital TrendsThese combined metrics are used for sleep apnea detection, and it would have been nice for the Galaxy Fit 3 to measure these while asleep. Samsung already offers this feature on the Galaxy Watch lineup, but has excluded it for the Fit series bands. On the positive side, Samsung is not burdening users with an overwhelming set of information, some of which may not be of any meaningful value. The approach here is sticking with the basics, and the Galaxy Fit 3 does a fine job at it without going haywire at the fundamentals.Nadeem Sarwar / Digital TrendsSamsung claims a battery life worth 13 days on a single charge. Your mileage will vary dramatically, depending on a lot of factors. Thanks to the small 208mAh onboard battery, you can top it up in less than an hour, and get 60% juice in barely half an hour. Now, about those battery endurance figures, which put mainstream smartwatches to shame. It is achievable under extremely controlled circumstances, which dont realistically reflect how an average person uses a smartwatch. If you have always-on display mode enabled, have activated wrist-detection, work out for an hour, interact with notifications, and maintain 15-20 minutes of on-screen activity, you can get up to five days of battery life per charging session. With the always-on mode disabled, I could get a maximum of eight days. Moreover, if you enable continuous heart rate tracking instead of manual tracking or automatic measurement per ten minutes the battery efficiency comes down.Nadeem Sarwar / Digital TrendsEven if you are getting 4-5 days of usage with a single charge, its a fantastic leap. An average smartwatch barely lasts over two days, and you can only get more mileage when you shift to low-power modes or switch to the hybrid OS architecture on devices such as the OnePlus Watch 2.One of the biggest reasons that I have a love-hate relationship with smartwatches is that they burden me with yet another device to charge on a daily basis. Moreover, having to carry a custom charging puck for each one is yet another inconvenience. With the Galaxy Fit 3, the charging headache is fractional, and I appreciate this practical perk. For battery top-up, Samsung offers a custom pogo pin connector with a USB-C outlet on the other end, but no charging adapter or brick in the retail package.Verdict: An easy pick for beginnersNadeem Sarwar / Digital TrendsAt an asking price of just $60, the Galaxy Fit 3 gets a lot of things right. It looks dramatically better than a majority of fitness bands out there, offers a robust set of workout features, and delivers a reliable biomarker and wellness tracking experience.Yes, the lack of GPS and over-reliance on a companion app are frustrating. And so is the hobbled connectivity and the inability to properly handle calls or texts. But it makes up for those missteps with a fantastic battery life, a no-frills software approach, and a beautiful OLED screen. If your budget cant exceed the $100 threshold, the only other option I can recommend is the Amazfit Active 2. But if you dont want to cough up that kind of cash, merely seek to get a start with fitness wearables, or require a tracker for basic exercises only, the Galaxy Fit 3 will serve you just fine at a pleasant bargain.Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 is up for grabs at $60 from Samsung Store.Editors Recommendations

Starving Dolphins in Florida Traced to Algae Bloom Fueled by Human Waste
By Adam Kovac Published April 7, 2025 | Comments (0) | Image of a stranded dolphin from Florida's Indian River Lagoon. Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute. Stranding response conducted under a Stranding Agreement In 2013, dozens of dolphins living in Floridas Indian River Lagoon mysteriously began to die. Their remains washed up, showing the animals had been emaciated. Now, over a decade later, ecologists believe theyve figured out the cause of the bizarre die-off. While the deaths have long been linked to gigantic algae blooms in the water, it took until now to determine exactly how the two events were connected, and it turns out, its mostly humanitys fault. This might be hard to believe, but apparently dumping massive amounts of human waste and fertilizer into waterways can be bad. As the ecologists note in the journal Frontiers in Marine Science, the long-lasting phytoplankton blooms began in 2011. The spread of the tiny plant-like organisms led to a widespread change in the Indian River Lagoons ecology. Their presence caused the amount of seagrass in the water to decrease by over 50%, and a 75% loss of macroalgae (better known as seaweed). That alone wouldnt have killed off the dolphins, but when the ecologists examined isotopic ratios in teeth samples taken from the carcasses, and compared them to teeth taken from 44 dolphins that hadnt been part of the die-off, they realized their diets had been drastically altered. The dolphins had eaten 14% to 20% fewer ladyfish, a key dolphin prey animal, but had eaten up to 25% more sea bream, a less nutritious fish. In essence, the presence of such large amounts of phytoplankton had reduced the amount of food available for the dolphins usual prey. As the prey numbers dwindled, the dolphins had to catch more prey to consume the same amount of energy. The effects werent felt just by those dolphins that died, but by the areas dolphin population as a whole. At the time, 64% of observed dolphins were underweight, while 5% were classified as emaciated. In combination, the shift in diets and the widespread presence of malnourishment suggest that dolphins were struggling to catch enough prey of any type, said Wendy Noke Durden, a research scientist at the Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute, who worked on the research, in a statement. The loss of key structural habitats may have reduced overall foraging success by causing changes in the abundance and distribution of prey. The historic record bears this out. According to records kept of the recorded causes of death for stranded dolphins, starvation was the cause of death in 17% of recorded dolphin deaths in the area between 2000 and 2020. That number spiked to 61% in 2013. Blooms of phytoplankton are part of productive ecological systems, said Charles Jacoby, strategic program director at the University of South Florida, who also worked on the study. Detrimental effects arise when the quantities of nutrients entering a system fuel unusually intense, widespread, or long-lasting blooms. In most cases, peoples activities drive these excess loads. Managing our activities to keep nutrients at a safe level is key to preventing blooms that disrupt ecological systems. There is a small silver lining to this grisly finding. As the researchers noted, waste and other crap dumped into Indian River Lagoon is being gradually reduced and is expected to hit safe levels in 2035. Still, its no surprise that human activity can be harmful to ecosystemsfrom chopping down shocking amounts of rainforest, to the melting of polar ice, to the inadvertent introduction of thousands of invasive species to new territories. This latest example shows that beyond the obvious primary effects, our habit of dumping God-knows-what into natural environments can have all sorts of trickle-down resultsincluding killing some of our most beloved wildlife.Daily NewsletterYou May Also Like By Ed Cara Published March 20, 2025 By Matthew Gault Published March 5, 2025 By AJ Dellinger Published February 27, 2025 By Margherita Bassi Published February 19, 2025 By Thomas Maxwell Published February 13, 2025 By Isaac Schultz Published January 15, 2025

Classify and Detoxify: Tackling Toxic Comments with RoBERTa and LLaMA
Classify and Detoxify: Tackling Toxic Comments with RoBERTa and LLaMA1 min readJust now--In todays digital era, toxic comments and hate speech have become increasingly common across social media, discussion forums, and online platforms. Toxic text such as insults, threats, or sexual harassment not only harms users mental health but also creates a hostile and unhealthy online environment.Detecting toxic comments has become a major challenge in the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP). However, simply classifying toxic content isnt enough. To build truly helpful solutions, these harmful texts also need to be detoxified rephrased in a softer, more respectful manner without losing the original context. In this project, I built a two-stage system:Toxic comment classification using the RoBERTa model to identify the type of toxicity: insult, threat, sexual harassment, or non-toxic.Toxic text detoxification using a fine-tuned LLaMA 3.1 model to transform harmful sentences into more polite and constructive versions. With this approach, were not just flagging problematic content were offering better alternatives, promoting a healthier and more inclusive digital space.

Would you want Endless Ocean Luminous to get a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition? Will it? What would YOU add?
Hero of LegendThe Hero of Thread TitlesMemberOct 26, 201714,820Honestly it was miracle this even happened at all. Problem was it seemed to lack much of the core single-player content I believe the two Wii games had, plus it relied on randomly generated dives, but I don't know how that generally turned out in execution. I just know this wasn't well received by fans.Assuming Nintendo gives Arika the greenlight to do a Switch 2 Edition with added content, it's hard to know what extents they'll be able to go. I think it's obvious that the budget was rather conservative on this in the first place (hell the fish assets IIRC were lifted from a mobile game Arika did apparently?).Honestly I'm not sure we'll get a fourth game. This one didn't seem to light the charts on fire, it sorta... sank if you will. Feels like a spruced up Switch 2 Edition is the last chance we got but who knows at this point.Curious about what folks that played this and the prior entries think. Is this game and the franchise period doomed to sleep with the fishes? Such a fate would indeed leave meForever Blue Brodo BagginsMemberOct 27, 20175,442I was surprised they didn't save this for Switch 2 as a graphical showcase game.I think I would like to see it with a main focus on increased assets density and just more wildlife to find.I did not pick it up but would be interested in a Switch 2 version.chrominanceSky Van GoghMemberOct 25, 201715,851I haven't played the previous games (though I did pick them up a while back!), but I'm gonna say: nah, I'm good.To me it feels like the game would need a pretty significant overhaul and I just don't know if it's worth it over, say, just making a new game. It's sorely lacking in single-player content and while the core gameplay mechanics can sort of be relaxing and chill, they are also inherently extremely repetitive; you're just shotgunning sealife with your scanner and because you need to scan SO MUCH, literally any interruption--reading up on the fish you just scanned, taking photos, whatever--feels like an unconscionable imposition. So at the end of the day you're barely even thinking of them as unique wildlife; it's just a bunch of dots on your screen you need to scan to collect the sparklies that fly out of them and then move on.But I also kind of wonder if I'm even the target audience, seeing as how I have no interest in co-op and don't have an NSO account. So maybe what I think isn't important.OP OPHero of LegendThe Hero of Thread TitlesMemberOct 26, 201714,820Brodo Baggins said:I was surprised they didn't save this for Switch 2 as a graphical showcase game.I think I would like to see it with a main focus on increased assets density and just more wildlife to find.I did not pick it up but would be interested in a Switch 2 version.Click to expand...Click to shrink...I'm conflicted. I feel this is such a niche IP that N E E D S a huge install base to sell. Like even if it was a showcase (it sadly wasn't even on Switch), I dunno, I think it'd need much more of a grand scale to grab big attention quickly you know?Maybe push a larger marketing campaign with actual marine biologists, National Geographic or some shit. Maybe get some brands in there folks recognize like major aquariums or legendary coral reefs or something.I don't have the eureka answer right now sadly.King_MocMemberOct 25, 20174,662It was a really poor game imo that didn't even attempt to live up to the previous ones, so I imagine it'll just be forgotten.chrominanceSky Van GoghMemberOct 25, 201715,851Hero of Legend said:I'm conflicted. Doing any of the above would just feel like trying to sell the game as something it's kind of not, because it's not really designed to be super educational in that way and you're never really encouraged to dig deeper into all the species you find; researching them is such a surface-level mechanic and it's really only there as a checklist-marking exercise. So to be presented with marine biologists talking about the wonders of the deep, and then to get Endless Ocean Luminous would just be disappointing to many. The game needs something more compelling to attract a wider audience. Marketing wasn't its only or even main problem.PallasKittenMemberJul 11, 20221,634I highly doubt it'd get a Switch 2 version, nor would I want it to.Initially I had fun with this game, but it was no Endless Ocean 1 or 2, or even Everblue 1 or 2 for that matter - it's definitely the worst game in the series I've played. The main issue with the procedural generation is that there was barely any variety to it because there were very obvious hand crafted sections that just got plopped down onto random parts of the map. Maybe some maps wouldn't even have those certain caves, biomes, random sunken ship, etc. It really made me wonder why they even bothered with the procedural generation approach.I only played it less than a year ago (at launch) as well and tbh, I barely remember it. As I said, initially I had fun, it was neat just swimming around exploring and discovering new species. Until, aside from the aforementioned issues with the procedural generation, none of the animals seemed to have any kind of personality. They'd just amble about aimlessly, there were no aggressive creatures, no garden eels that would retreat into their holes if you got too close, etc. It ultimately felt very lifeless, sadly. If this is the direction the series would continue to have, I don't care to see new entries anyway.Scruffy8642MemberJan 24, 20202,993It sounds like they need to redo the whole game based on what I've heard. Sounds worse than a mobile game.So I'm gonna say no.monaponMemberNov 9, 2017278As someone who adored the 2 Wii games, Luminous was such a disappointment. They would need to redo the entire game to actually have set level design instead of the randomly generated maps and at that point, might as well make a new game.Tom Nook Says...MemberJan 15, 20196,859I was really excited about this title until I kept learning more about it. I really do hope the series gets another entry on Switch 2 because the concept is great, the execution was just sorely lacking. I want a bespoke ocean that feels alive, not a procedurally generated mess with kinda lifeless fish. PucePikminMemberApr 26, 20185,104Nah, it's a fundamentally not-very-good game. I'd give a new Endless Ocean not built around procedural generation a shot though! Give me some 4K fishies!

Bill Ackman, A Billionaire Who Supports Trump, Alleges That The US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick Is Long Bonds And Profits When Our Economy Implodes
This is not investment advice. The author has no position in any of the stocks mentioned. Wccftech.com has a disclosure and ethics policy. As futures in the US and spot markets in Asia crash on Trump's doubling down on his "impose tariffs first and ask questions later" strategy, tensions are apparently reaching a boiling point. Case in point: the billionaire investor and CEO of Pershing Square, Bill Ackman, has just alleged that the US Commerce Secretary, Howard Lutnick, "profits when our economy implodes."For the benefit of those who might not be aware, President Trump has now imposed abaseline tariffof 10 percent on all US imports, plus a veritable host of reciprocal tariffs on some of the biggest trading partners of the US, with imports from the EU now subject to a 20 percent levy while those from China entailing an eye-watering tariff of 54 percent (20 percent fentanyl-related levy + 34 percent reciprocal tariffs). Also, Steel, aluminum, vehicles, and auto parts remain subject to individual tariffs under Section 232, while tariffs on raw semiconductors are expected to materialize in the days and weeks ahead. However, in a development that caused utter panic on Wall Street on Friday, China has now retaliated by imposing a reciprocal tariff of 34 percent on all imports from the US. This measure is expected to invite another retaliation from the Trump administration in a seemingly unending game of one-upmanship.What's more, despite feeling the heat over the ongoing bloodbath in markets across the globe, Trump appears to be doggedly pursuing his lofty goal of ending all trade deficits for good. This persistence precludes a benign outcome for the markets at large, at least for the foreseeable future.Meanwhile, contracts trading on Polymarket are now assigning a 62 percent probability to a recession materializing in the US in 2025. What's more, JPMorgan now also expects an economic contraction in the US.This brings us to the crux of the matter. At the time of writing, Dow futures are down over 900 points or ~2.5 percent. Last week, the Dow posted losses of over 1,500 points on two consecutive days. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 futures are currently down 2.9 percent, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq-100 futures are down ~4 percent.Earlier on Sunday night, Bill Ackman, who is generally considered a firm Trump supporter, penned a sympathetic if cautious X post on tariffs. However, as the bloodbath in markets resumed in earnest, Ackman seems to have changed his tone. To wit, the CEO of Pershing Square now believes that Howard Lutnick's interests are not aligned with those of America, given the bond-heavy positions of his firm. For the benefit of those who might not be aware, bonds generally outperform during periods of economic contraction as they benefit from the attendant reduction in interest rates. When a netizen pointed out that Ackman was equally conflicted, given his stake in Nike, which stands to lose out from sky-high tariffs on Vietnam, the billionaire countered that he was "long America and he [Lutnick] is short."Of course, this is just a small emblem of the turmoil that is now sweeping across Trump's inner circle. Should the crisis continue, one should reasonably expect such outbursts much more frequently and with added vehemence.Deal of the Day
