USDC-Issuer Circle Plans Payment Network to Process Transactions via Stablecoins
Circle is planning to launch an international payments network that will allow large corporations to complete settlements via stablecoins. The issuer of the USDC stablecoin released a whitepaper this week detailing possible ways in which stablecoins can upgrade the global payment systems. This system is dubbed the Circle Payments Network (CPN). It has been designed to function as a protocol layer within a digital settlement system with support for stablecoins like USDC, EURC, and more in the future. With the CPN, Circle aims to offer a cross-border payment solution that is cost effective, swift, compliant, and transparent. It could be of significant help to global suppliers, small merchants, content creators, and remittance recipients.“CPN is transparent, secure, scalable infrastructure for financial institutions. Circle has built a rigorous governance framework for CPN that requires participating financial institutions to meet global Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) standards, along with economic sanctions requirements,” the US-based company said in its whitepaper. The system will offer billing services, credit services, compliance services, risk and fraud services, as well as liquidity services. For institutional payments, the network will introduce forex settlements, treasury services, government payouts, and DeFi services. Whereas for consumer payments, the network will entail micropayments, remittances, e-commerce, and subscription services. The network will support multi-chain infrastructures and will enable companies to process salary payments around the globe instantly, at low costs.“Crucially, CPN serves as the foundation for an ecosystem that eliminates many of the technical complexities and operational hurdles that have slowed mainstream stablecoin adoption to date, including the need for businesses to custody their own stablecoins,” the company noted.Circle intends to add AI capabilities to the CPN in the future to automate financial settlements. This development comes at a time when Circle is planning to launch its IPO in the US. If approved, Circle's stocks will be listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) as “CRCL”. South of Midnight Was the 9th Most Played Game on Xbox in its Launch Week
Having just come out earlier this month, adventure game South of Midnight is proving itself to be quite successful for developer Compulsion Games and Microsoft. According to Circana analyst Mat Piscatella, South of Midnight ranked in 9th when it came to weekly active users on Xbox. In a post on social media platform BlueSky, Piscatella shared charts showing off the most played games on all platforms across the US, Canada and Mexico: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Steam (US), Steam (Canada), and Steam (Mexico). These charts measure active player counts for the week ending on April 12. For the consoles, Call of Duty dominated the number one spot in terms of active players, followed by Fortnite. Things diverge from there onwards, however; where GTA 5 Remastered sits at number 3 for PlayStation, the spot on Xbox Series X/S is taken up by Minecraft. Going further down the charts, South of Midnight sits at number 9 on Xbox, between Rainbow Six Siege at number 8 and EA Sports College Football 25 at number 10. When it comes to the top 15 played games on Steam, however, South of Midnight was unable to break through into the charts. South of Midnight is a single-player action adventure game that takes place in the American Deep South. Players take on the role of Hazel – a young girl that has set out on a journey to become a Weaver. Along the way, Hazel has to deal with encounters based on different myths, as well as take on the forces of the Haints in order to survive and complete her journey. The studio had previously explained that, with the story in South of Midnight, it didn’t want a “chosen one” narrative. At GDC 2025, writer Zaire Lanier spoke about creating the game’s narrative, saying that Hazel’s state of mind at the start of the game is “in this weird liminal space between [being] a kid and becoming an adult.” According to Lanier, the game’s narrative works because of the idea that “anyone can be a Weaver, it’s something that the land will choose for you, when you’re in a time of deep need. So Hazel, when she’s chasing after her mom’s trailer in the hurricane, the land chooses her.” “It’s kind of at random, she blinks and you can see the strands in the sky,” Lanier explained. “Weavers are able to see the fabric of the universe – we call it the grand tapestry – and they’re able to manipulate those strands to do various types of spells. Their mission is that they heal stigma in the land where bad things have happened.” “[Weavers] are able to see into your traumas. They don’t fix your traumas for you, only you can do that, but they listen to your story, they see your story, they get to see those memories, and I think sometimes that’s what you need.” South of Midnight is available on PC and Xbox Series X/S. The game is also available through PC and Xbox Game Pass. Check out our review for more details. Circana Player Engagement Tracker – Top 15 Titles by Total Weekly Active Users (Not Concurrent) – W/E Apr 12, 2025- South of Midnight reaches 9th on Xbox- …not many other big changes at the top of the rankings tbh — Mat Piscatella (@matpiscatella.bsky.social) 2025-04-21T12:58:40.825Z

Days Gone Graphical Improvements Detailed Ahead of Remastered Release
News Days Gone Graphical Improvements Detailed Ahead of Remastered Release The update will improve world graphics, introduce new atmospheric/sky simulations, and accurately depict sunlight and sky intensities. Posted By Joelle Daniels | On 22nd, Apr. 2025 Bend Studio and PlayStation have detailed a new update for the PC release of Days Gone. As the studio counts the days up to the release of the upcoming Broken Road DLC, it will bring numerous improvements to the game’s visuals, as well as support for the haptic feedback feature when using a DualSense controller. The biggest highlight is improvements to the world’s visuals. While the studio hasn’t gone into too many details about this in the patch notes, there are mentions of new atmospheric and sky simulations that help make the game’s skybox look generally better. More accurate sunlight and sky intensities are also in place alongside improved color tone. Nighttime has also been made “significantly” darker. The visual improvements are included with the remaster and will bring the PC version of Days Gone more in-line with the PS5 title when it launches on April 25th. The latter features visual enhancements, along with new game modes with options like Permadeath and a Speedrun mode. This gameplay content, along with the Horde Assault mode, will be available on PC through the Broken Road DLC, which can be picked up for $10 and will be available on the platform on the same day as the remaster. Days Gone, originally released on the PS4 all the way back in 2019, made its way on to PC in 2021. The title is an open-world game that puts players in the shoes of a biker trying to survive in a world that has been infested by zombies. One of the main hooks of Days Gone is the fact that the protagonist’s bike is an incredibly important thing. Along with being the main method of exploration in the open world, the bike can also be upgraded in various ways, ranging from making it more fuel efficient and faster, to killing some zombies more efficiently. The PC version was released in 2021 with a host of features, including unlocked frame rates, improved visuals, and support for ultrawide displays. Leading up to its upcoming PS5 release, Days Gone Remastered got a new trailer showing off its new Horde Assault game mode. In the trailer, we got to see insanely large swarms of zombies, as well as new playable characters for the mode like Boozer, O’Brian, Iron Make, and a NERO soldier. For more details about the original, check out our review from back when it came out on PC. In the meantime, also check out our thoughts on why the Days Gone Remastered might be worth a look. Days Gone PC Update Notes: DualSense haptic feedback support Accessibility features World graphical improvements New Atmospheric/Sky simulation using ozone and spectral light simulation: Improves overall color tone and produces more accurate light intensities for the sky and sunlight Significantly darker night time Improved screen space indirect lighting and ambient occlusion effects Double shadowmap resolution when Shadow Quality is set to Highest Additional improvements Tagged With: Atomfall Publisher:Rebellion Developments Developer:Rebellion Developments Platforms:PS5, Xbox Series X, PS4, Xbox One, PCView More Monster Hunter Wilds Publisher:Capcom Developer:Capcom Platforms:PS5, Xbox Series X, PCView More South of Midnight Publisher:Microsoft Developer:Compulsion Games Platforms:Xbox Series X, PCView More Amazing Articles You Might Want To Check Out! Did the Microsoft initiative to bring Activision-Blizzard games on Steam just...stopped?
YuSuzzune Member Nov 21, 2018 5,643 Italy We got Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV, all missing COD games and nothing else. Still no Diablo 2 Resurrected, Diablo 3 or other games already available on B.net.  Jawmuncher Crisis Dino Moderator Oct 25, 2017 44,329 Ibis Island I hate to tell you this fam, but Xbox/Acti seemingly have no interest in much of the back catalog. As they've been ignoring it for Steam and Xbox (Even titles that wouldn't need the BC efforts). As a whole, I think it's either just not being pushed by anyone internally (despite what Phil has said) or Xbox after buying Activision just went back to leaving them alone, with only "newer" titles being where they feel the need to offer it. It's whack honestly. As getting a new company under you and doing just about jack-all with the back catalog has to be one of the BIGGEST wastes.  Maximo Member Oct 25, 2017 10,853 Gotta drop feed that shit out to make GamePass worth the monthly sub, or honestly they don't care and won't bring older games to it.   Tsunami561 Member Mar 7, 2023 5,239 It started before the sale so it's not microsoft's doing. Wish we got D2R at least.   LewieP Member Oct 26, 2017 19,675 I was expecting more games to be made BC on Xbox, too.   ThereAreFourNaan Member Nov 8, 2017 14,928 ActiBliz was porting to steam before Microsoft took control, for internal commercial reasons. Framing it as strictly a Microsoft initiative doesn't seem correct although the way they handled it was similar. There is a strong business case to port actively supported games and new release games. It costs the same to port older games but they will not sell as much. Neither ABK on their own or Microsoft chose to comprehensive port their entire catalogue. Microsoft games from as recently as Crackdown 3 (2019!) fell into the black hole where they were modern enough to get pc ports, but not modern enough to get a day 1 steam release, and also deemed not lucrative enough to have a port funded later on either. Gears 4 from 2016 was the same way, even as Gears 5 launched into Steam! Go back one step further - Microsoft porting all games to PC day 1 starting in 2016 or whenever it was left some games high and dry from the changeover and also they certainly did not go back and port every single console game to PC... they just ported new ones from then on out. Now we will see the same play out on PS5 and Switch 2 - Microsoft will port some actively supported or specific high value back catalogue games as well as future games day 1, but they aren't going to double back and port every single old thing and even some from not that long before the changeover period will be black holed.  Last edited: Today at 7:42 AM Killer Member Oct 27, 2017 2,866 They seem to put all MS/Bethesda game on B.net now.   Kill3r7 Member Oct 25, 2017 28,681 Tsunami561 said: It started before the sale so it's not microsoft's doing. Blizzard didn't feel the need to bring their old games on Steam and they don't value their old catalog outside of remasters. To be fair their games historically have sold plenty on Bnet. So the incentive to launch on Steam hasn't been there.  Patitoloco Member Oct 27, 2017 27,621 Killer said: They seem to put all MS/Bethesda game on B.net now. Click to expand... Click to shrink... Berserk comes to Sanctuary in Diablo 4 and Diablo Immortal’s first crossover this May
Last Friday, Blizzard released a teaser trailer for its upcoming collaboration between Berserk, the acclaimed dark fantasy manga created by Kentaro Miura, and Diablo 4 and Diablo Immortal. On Tuesday, Blizzard revealed more details regarding the crossover event, which is set to launch on May 1 for Diablo Immortal and May 6 for Diablo 4.“Set in a medieval, dark fantasy world, Berserk centers on themes of betrayal, revenge, sacrifice, and monster power,” Blizzard wrote in a blog post on the official Diablo 4 website. “Celebrate Berserk with limited-time cosmetics you can earn and collect so your characters can walk in the footsteps of these legendary figures. Don relics of war, symbols of ambition, echoes of vengeance. Wear them and become a part of the legend.”Image: Blizzard EntertainmentDiablo 4 players will be able to collect Behelits, the sinister ovoid creatures seen in Berserk which grant terrible powers to whoever possesses them, by slaying powerful enemies in-game. Behelits will function as a special currency type that can be traded in the newly added “Berserk Reliquary” of the Diablo 4 in-game store in exchange for Berserk-themed cosmetics, including the Hawks Destiny Back Trophy, the Skull Knight’s Heraldry Mount Armor, and the Brand of Sacrifice Marking. Collecting all of the items in the Reliquary will earn the player the Od of the Berserker Emblem. Additionally, players will be able to purchase Berserk-themed costumes for their adventurers from the in-game store, including Berserker armor for the Barbarian; The Skull Knight armor for the Necromancer; and the Hawk of Light Armor and Struggler costume set for the Rogue. A new Pet and Mount, the Schnoz and the Warhorse of the Hawk, will also been added to the in-game store.Image: Blizzard EntertainmentFor Diablo Immortal, players will be able to fight Nosferatu Zodd, the infamous demon apostle of the God Hand, in a new boss encounter. Players will receive log-in rewards including cosmetics, crests, and class-specific weapons, and be able to earn Berserk-themed loot such as the Crimson Behelit Gem, which unlocks an even more challenging boss encounter with Zodd. Finally, players will be able to enter the Eclipse, the notorious nightmare dimension seen in Berserk, through the Survivor’s Bane Event to fight off unrelenting hordes of enemies as they attempt to survive the sacrifice that claimed the lives of the Band of the Hawk.Kentaro Miura, the author of Berserk, died in 2021. On June 7, 2022, Hakusensha, the Japanese publisher of Berserk, announced the series would resume publication under the direction of Kouji Mori, Miura’s colleague and friend, using memorandums, character designs, and plans that Miura left behind. The limited time Diablo Immortal Berserk crossover event will run from May 1 until May 30, while the limited time Diablo 4 Berserk crossover will run from May 6 and conclude at the end of Season 8.See More: Diablo 4PlaystationPlaystation logoPlaystationPlaystation logoWindowsWindows logoXboxXbox logoXboxXbox logoExplore The GameWhy it mattersLike Diablo 3, Diablo 4 took a while to find its feet, but a major 2024 update turned it into the hugely gratifying and compulsive loot-hunting game it always threatened to be.— Oli Welsh, Senior Editor, U.K.

Netflix’s Too Hot to Handle mobile games healed my jaded microtransaction-weary heart
On a whim, I decided to try out Netflix’s Too Hot to Handle mobile game, based on the streaming service’s raunchy reality dating show. And now I can’t stop playing it. I’ve spent many late nights curled up in bed, watching my little character make terrible romantic choices, befriend people in the luxury villa, and cost the contestants a lot of money. The game is filling a void in my heart that’s reserved for choice-heavy, romance-forward visual novel mobile games. And it’s probably one of the best ones I’ve played, especially in recent years. Romantic mobile visual novels were once some of my favorite games; but over time, the average writing quality in them has diminished, all while microtransactions and terrible ads ramped up to a distressing degree. I once played one where in order to do anything, I had to watch a janky minute-long ad first. It was exhausting, and I only made it to the end because I was invested in the narrative. But in-game purchases and shitty ad-to-gameplay ratios took a toll on me. So while I’ve occasionally tried to download a new game, most of them haven’t held my attention. Till now. Graphic: Petrana Radulovic/Polygon | Source images: Netflix/NanobitI’m sure it’s at least partially because I’m already paying for Netflix, but it’s just a miracle that Too Hot to Handle isn’t overloaded with ads and microtransactions. Yes, there are extra bonus scenes and cute outfits to unlock, but they’re all done through in-game achievements, so they’re pretty easy to get. Also, they are purely extra fluff. Yes, I have an extra bracelet to choose from, but it’s not like some terrible experiences I’ve had in other similar games, where the dress choices I had were some ugly plain black dress that would get my character mocked, or one that cost real life money. I’m also pleasantly surprised with just how engaging the writing and gameplay are. Currently there are three Too Hot to Handle games out, each one following a different in-game season. You create a character, who assumes they’ve been invited to some partying reality show, before they realize they’re in Netflix’s Too Hot to Handle. Like the real life show, the in-game one follows the same rules: in order to help break some horny, shallow singles out of their routines, they must not kiss or engage in any sort of sexual actions for the whole summer. Each action costs the group money from the $200,000 prize pool. The point is to foster emotional growth and get those singles to reflect on what’s stopping them from finding love. I started with the first season, since that seemed like the natural thing to do, and made one of my usual characters: a flirtatious scallywag named Phillip (when you play a lot of games like this, it’s handy to have a rotation of characters to pop in, like different Barbie dolls trying on new careers). In Phil’s run, he broke a ton of the rules and cost the group a lot of money before he became smitten with a confident foodie named Dakota. But before he committed, he danced around and no one really cared, because that was just Phil! Everyone was in love with him. I enjoyed playing him as a scamp who eventually found the One — and still didn’t give up his flirtatious, horny ways. She risked it all for this bloke, but can you blame her? Image: Netflix/NanobitI was expecting similar mechanics in the second season, but I was surprised to find this time there was a more limited pool of singles. In season 2, I played free-spirited artist Madeleine, who, despite her kind heart, had problems committing. The limited singles pool meant that there were actually more intense plotlines with other characters’ romantic relationships — and way more jealousy. Madeleine’s flirting with other contestants while she was coupled up did eventually take a toll. And she almost blew everything when she decided to take a chance on a tattooed Australian bad boy instead of sticking with the steady tech CEO she’d initially taken a liking to. Characters got vicious, confronting her and plotting to take her down. I was on the edge of my seat, unsure if bad boy Ryder was actually into Madeleine, or just stringing her along. It was honestly one of the most intense video game romances I’ve played; and lemme tell you, I’ve played a lot of them.I’m in the midst of season 3 right now, and I can’t stop playing. I’ve been singing the praises of this game to the friends I know who also have been burnt out by freemium, ad-filled mobile romance games. It’s everything I used to love about these games before I got too jaded. I get to dress up my character with cute clothes and fun hairstyles. I get to make choices and build relationships with different characters, eventually culminating in a romance. And now I’m seeing my friends share their own experiences, as we gush about which singles we pursued and what was different in our playthroughs. It’s making me a little nostalgic for the mobile games I used to play, before they broke my heart. But in true Too Hot to Handle fashion, I’ve done some soul-searching, and I’m not settling for anything less than what I deserve: namely, an engaging game with some surprisingly magnificent character moments that lets me play through without asking for more money or wasting my time. Netflix’s Too Hot to Handle games are available on mobile devices, if you have a Netflix account. See More:
