Death Stranding Movie Will be “Unbelievable and Strange” – Hideo Kojima
While a movie based on Kojima Productions game Death Stranding is being produced by A24, few details about the adaptation have been revealed so far. On a new episode of his radio show Koji10, series creator Hideo Kojima has revealed that the movie adaptation will be “an unbelievable and strange film”. According to X user Genki_JPN, Kojima referred to director Michael Sarnoski as a nice person and the right director for the movie. He also said that Sarnoski isn’t like a typical Hollywood person. “He says Director Michael Sarnoski is smart, has good taste and is a very nice person so is happy he can direct the film,” posted Genki_JPN. “He says Michael properly played Death Stranding and Metal Gear Solid 1 and was going to play MGS2 and MGS3 as well but Hideo Kojima stopped him. Hideo Kojima said he doesn’t seem like a typical Hollywood person.” For context, Michael Sarnoski was brought on to direct the A24 Death Stranding project earlier this month. Sarnoski has previously worked on quite a few movies, including A Quiet Place: Day One, Pig, and upcoming movie The Death of Robin Hood. Alongside Sarnoski, Lars Knudsen and Ari Aster’s Square Peg have also joined the team as co-producers for the movie. A24’s involvement in the production of the Death Stranding movie was revealed all the way back in 2023. A24 has a history of producing indie movies that manage to get quite a bit of critical acclaim. Some of the movies produced by the company include Everything Everywhere All at Once, Lady Bird, and The Whale. The company also has quite a few critically-acclaimed horror movies under its belt, such as Hereditary,The VVitch, and Midsommar. “A24 was born into this world about 10 years ago, their presence is singular within the industry, they are like no other. The films they are delivering to the world are high in quality and very innovative,” said Kojima when announcing the partnership with A24 for the movie. “I have been attracted to their creations and they have even inspired my own work. Their innovative approach to storytelling aligns with what Kojima Productions has been doing for the last 8 years. Now, we are making a Death Stranding movie together. There are a lot of ‘game adaptation films’ out there but what we are creating is not just a direct translation of the game. The intention is that our audience will not only be fans of the games, but our film will be for anyone who loves cinema. We are creating a Death Stranding universe that has never been seen before, achievable only through the medium of film, it will be born.” A report from back in 2023 also revealed that Kojima is taking a hands-on approach to the production of the Death Stranding movie. His involvement in the movie includes producing, supervising, plotting, look, design, and content. In the meantime, Kojima Productions is gearing up for the release of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. The game, developed exclusively for the PS5, will be coming out on June 26.

The physical preservation of third party games is looking very grim on Switch 2
Vito One Winged Slayer - Formerly Undead Fantasy Member Oct 25, 2017 18,341 Yes, I know that incomplete carts or code in box releases were a thing on SW1 but this seems to be way more common on SW2 with these key carts. So what say you collectors? Are you still buying these releases or not?  Seaneko Member Jun 11, 2020 1,089 California Yeah this sucks and I knew this would happen the immediate moment it was shown off in the Direct. As someone with a huge Switch game library I might just go all-digital for Switch 2 aside from first-party games with everything on cart.   PucePikmin Member Apr 26, 2018 5,226 Buying a physical game without an actual physical game in the box is kind of a worst of both worlds situation. I'd never bother, except maybe if I was buying a gift for somebody.   Mullet2000 Member Oct 25, 2017 6,357 Toronto Yeah most third parties are just going to opt for these for the lower cost. I think my physical game collecting is just going to have a hard cutoff between Switch and Switch 2. These games arent expected to sell millions outside of few expectations, but they still want to have a retail presence. Gotta keep the cost low. I expect this to change more towards Switch level once the system is more established and the bigger titles have reduced the card costs across the board. Between this key cart bullshit and the god awful regular box design I'll probably just stick to physical copies of Monolith Soft stuff (if that's not just a key cart as well anyway)   PallasKitten Member Jul 11, 2022 1,706 I've probably already said as much elsewhere in another one of these threads about Switch 2 key cards, but it's definitely something that's really dampened my enthusiasm for the Switch 2. The Switch 1 has been a bit of an anomaly for me with Nintendo consoles, in that I've amassed a massive library for it because it got so many physical releases for indie and smaller games, visual novels, etc. Most other Nintendo consoles' libraries for me have primarily consisted of 1st party releases, and the odd 3rd party exclusives. It looks like the Switch 2 will be a return to that for me. The only way I can see myself buying one of these "key cards" is if the game is exclusive to Switch, and it's cheaper than just buying the game digitally.  Glio Member Oct 27, 2017 27,454 Spain Unless someone invents a way to make cartridges as cheap as Blu-rays, I don't know what other options there are. I just don't buy those unless it's a collector's edition and grab them digitally.  ShineALight Member Oct 27, 2017 593 I've been a fairly avid Switch collector with somewhere between 200 and 300 games, and I'm sure I'll end up cracking that latter number when all is said and done. But seeing these charts makes m feel like just throwing my hands up. I'll still get full, actual physical releases when I can but it doesn't seem like I can allow that to guide my purchases the way I have been (for example, importing something like SaGa Frontier 2 to have a physical, or waiting for a delayed physical for something like Pizza Tower). Now I have to figure out the best way to play the microSD express situation. I wonder if I should settle with a 512 or even 256 GB card for the first year or two of the Switch 2 in the hopes that a 2 TB card might be available in 2027 for the price that the 1 TB is now...  JoJo'sDentCo Unshakable Resolve Member Oct 25, 2017 9,215 SW2 or NS2?   SpiralEngine Member Jul 6, 2023 870 It's hard for me to get bent out of shape about this, because my physical Switch collection is already huge and takes up a lot of space, and the notion of having my Switch 2 collection take up the same amount of space is very unappealing tbh. I'm sure that by skipping out on all Game-Key cards, I'll be saving a lot of shelf space, which is fine by me. The only thing is, my Switch's 1.5 tb SD card is already almost full, and I'm sure my Switch 2's SD card will fill up even sooner. Ah well. Indie dev removes goblin tactics game from Xbox in solidarity with pro-Palestine boycott
On Tuesday, Tenderfoot Tactics developer Ice Water Games removed the open-world RPG from the Xbox digital storefront as a way of showing support for the Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestment, and Sanction (BDS) movement after the organizers added Microsoft to its list of boycotted targets two weeks ago.“We hope that Microsoft will listen to the voices of their workers and customers and stop all business with the criminal Israeli military, which we have watched conduct an open genocide in Gaza over the last 18 months,” the studio said in a statement posted to Bluesky by Tenderfoot Tactics designer badru. “We hope that the broader community will join in the pressure campaign and fight for an end to occupation and apartheid in Palestine and across the world.”Tenderfoot Tactics launched on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch on Feb. 21, 2024. The original Steam release from 2020 currently holds a “very positive” rating.Microsoft provides Azure cloud and AI services to the Israeli government that the BDS movement claims are “central to accelerating Israel’s genocide of 2.3 million Palestinians in the illegally occupied Gaza Strip.”During a July 2024 presentation at the “IT for IDF” conference, Colonel Racheli Dembinsky of the Israeli Defense Forces praised the, “very significant operational effectiveness” the military’s partnerships with cloud companies gave them in Gaza while featuring logos for Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud in her slides. Leaked documents reported on by The Guardian in January 2025 indicate Microsoft deepened its ties with Israel following the attacks of October 7, 2023 by providing Israel with computing and storage services as well as agreeing to a $10 million deal for thousands of hours of technical support.Ice Water Games is the first video game studio to receive significant attention for publicly supporting the BDS movement’s recent boycott. Other tiered suggestions made by the organization for consumers to show solidarity include canceling Xbox Game Pass subscriptions, boycotting flagship Microsoft franchises Candy Crush, Minecraft, and Call of Duty, and finally boycotting all Xbox-branded consoles, accessories, and games published by Microsoft-owned publishing labels.See More:

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra To Launch Early Next Year With One UI 8.5 Based On Android 16, Skipping One UI 8.1 For Major Upgrades
Menu Home News Hardware Gaming Mobile Finance Deals Reviews How To Wccftech MobileSoftware Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra To Launch Early Next Year With One UI 8.5 Based On Android 16, Skipping One UI 8.1 For Major Upgrades Ali Salman • Apr 23, 2025 at 02:57pm EDT Samsung's Galaxy S26 Ultra is months away and expected early next year, but we are hearing acute details on the software it will run or miss out on. We now have early information related to One UI 8 and what versions of it will be supported on the Galaxy S26. It is being reported that One UI 8.1 will not be available on the S26 Ultra and other models, and there is a perfectly good reason for it. Samsung will skip the One UI 8.1 update for the Galaxy S26 and jump straight to One UI 8.5 based on Android 16 Samsung took its sweet time rolling out the One UI 7 update, and while it was curating bugs, the timeline was disturbed. This raises the question of whether the company will be able to deliver the One UI 8 updates on time for the Galaxy S26 lineup. As it turns out, the South Korean tech giant has potentially decided to skip some of the minor updates and go straight to the major ones, allowing the company to keep up with its long-standing software release timeframe. A new report sheds light on Samsung's decision to skip the One UI 8.1 update in favor of One UI 8.5 for the entire Galaxy S26 lineup, including the Ultra model. The evidence of this happening has been found in the company's system components, which show a string of code mentioning the above-mentioned updates. You can see that the string mentions One UI 8.0 and One UI 8.5, but there is no One UI 8.1, which is an indication that the company will skip the update. The .5 update will be a major one with significant feature upgrades and major visual changes, according to the source, which will breathe fresh life into the company's flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra and its slightly less capable siblings. If you are unfamiliar with the update, One UI 8 is expected to ship with the launch of the company's Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 handsets later this year. Moreover, Samsung's update will be built on top of Google's Android 16 update, which will be announced next month at its I/O event. While the public release will happen sometime in June, Samsung is expected to ready One UI 8 beforehand and release it with its highly anticipated foldable devices. One UI 8 will be made available to the Galaxy S26 lineup once they are released, possibly running One UI 8.5 instead of One UI 8.1. We expect major AI utilities and front-facing additions in Samsung's One UI 8 update as the company has to give the iPhone 17 Pro models a tough time. Google and Samsung could also offer exclusive features for the Galaxy-branded smartphones, so be sure to stick around for in-depth analysis of the updates. PlayStation’s Classic Console Themes From 30th Anniversary Celebrations Are Back In New PS5 System Update
Menu Home News Hardware Gaming Mobile Finance Deals Reviews How To Wccftech Gaming PlayStation’s Classic Console Themes From 30th Anniversary Celebrations Are Back In New PS5 System Update David Carcasole • Apr 23, 2025 at 02:22pm EDT As part of PlayStation's celebration of the platform's 30th anniversary last year, PS5 owners enjoyed console themes based on each PlayStation console generation. These themes were only available for a limited time until today, when Sony announced that they are making a return in a system update that will be rolling out across the globe tomorrow, April 24, 2025. In a PlayStation Blog post about tomorrow's update, Sony Interactive Entertainment's vice president of product management, Shuzo Kikuchi, announced a new feature coming to the system called Audio Focus. This new audio setting is designed to make the softer sounds in games louder for players using headphones, with the provided example being to make things like footsteps come through more audibly in your headphones. Regarding the return of the classic console themes, Kikuchi admitted that their return was solely due to fans asking for them to return. "During our 30th anniversary celebrations, we surprised our fans with a limited time selection of nostalgic customization features for the PS5 System UI to honor the four PlayStation consoles that paved the way for PS5: PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4," Kikuchi wrote. "Due to the overwhelmingly positive response from our community, we're happy to bring back the look and feel of the four console designs for players to customize the home screen on PS5!" When you update your PS5 console, you'll be able to find these returning themes under a new menu in the system's settings called 'Appearance.' Having different themes for your Home screen has been a key customization feature PlayStation players have enjoyed since the dawn of the PS3. Hopefully, bringing these themes back is just the first step towards more, like the many game-specific themes that used to be available. A few first-party and second-party titles already have themes set for the Welcome menu, but nothing like the themes from the 30th anniversary, which changed the console's entire UI. Players would surely love to see more of the latter down the line.

I made 2 versions to attempt to make a small bit of variety, unfortunately, I was unable to make more and have more stark differences due to time constraints. I enjoyed designing this character and added horns for a more unique look and features. Horns are a nice addition, as you do not have to worry about movement are relatively simple from all angles..Week 107th of Apr - 13th of AprThis week, the group continued to work on all our respective pieces as the deadline approaches, we briefly discussed tasks and steps needed to complete.I worked on the skeleton design and potential NPC designs, these were cut as we did not have time to implement them. I am not particularly fond of the skeleton as they appear off-putting, and the design is quite messy. The NPCs are nice for character design, yet lack unity and appear to come from different worlds entirely; I still prefer them to the skeletons. Week 1114th of April - 20th of AprilThis week, the team had a call to discuss the work left to do. We all discussed what each person would be tasked with for the week. The coders were split into pairs to link levels together, add the enemies and bosses, as well as the player character. Music and general sound design were attached.I was tasked with the design of the logo for the main menu, I preferred to stick with green, blue and purple for the colour palette as it correlates more to the protagonist and is much more commonly associated with fantasy colours. Week 1220th of Apr - 27th of AprThis is the final update of this diary. Last week I completed all the task work, and all that remains is my write-off. These past few days, the team has been working to compile all files together, and there have been issues in doing so.One of the scenes crashed and broke for an unknown reason. The group attempted to find the problem and momentarily resorted to returning to an older version of that scene before it seemingly was miraculously fixed by reasons unknown to the group. Another issue arose with enemies unable to do damage to the protagonist, and vice versa; this was due to different versions of controllers and general code issues, all were resolved after some alterations. There were other issues which just highlight the importance of communication needed throughout the entire project on the resources, technology and methods used.Although I have had no hand in the actual coding part of this project, I have learned quite a bit from my team’s work. I have seen the amount of effort needed in this and how finicky it can be at times. It is a difficult thing to learn, especially with the addition of having to work with a large number of others as they also learn alongside you. It has also rekindled my joy for creating art and experimenting with different art styles, as I had never tried pixal art until this point. I hope to work on my time management in the future as that was a major issue in this project for me, I often spent far too long theorising ideas for specific sprites which effected the design process for others, a few very early designs were far too complicated for pixal art, animation and the time given for this project. It was a difficult balance to maintain through the designs, and I feel some sprites may be lacking due to my bias toward others. This also affected the amount of sprites I could get done in a week, as issues with outfits from other angles would be a tedious and time-consuming task. This project has helped me with learning to make simple animations frame by frame, which may be useful in the future for web designs. This project has also been immensely helpful as I’ve learned about proper communication skills and the importance of compromise to make progress rather than getting stuck in an endless loop. If I am to do a project like this again, I would want a more hands-on role with the coding, however, I am happy with the skills I have learned and hope to improve and widen my skillset in the future.Below are all the links for the game, promotional material, source code and assets used:Puzzlemania Game:https://green-wizard-2.itch.io/puzzlemania-gamedevprojectPromotional Material:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-xyHSUv2zo&ab_channel=TDOGWallMan Source Code:https://github.com/WilliamFarrell2005/GameDev3 https://github.com/TWalsh-77/Game Assets Used: (Credits to all original artists): https://beyonderboy.itch.io/top-down-lava-tileset-16x16 https://beyonderboy.itch.io/desert-map-tileset-16x16 https://raou.itch.io/small-adventure https://rekkimaru.itch.io/dungeon-rpg-tileset https://bakudas.itch.io/generic-oldwest-pack https://kaenine.itch.io/pixel-art-tools https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/2d/2d-pixel-medieval-weapons-275774
